A lunchtime temple to post-oak smoke, Tyler’s turns out peppery brisket, juicy ribs, and classic sides until they sell out. Recognized in Texas Monthly’s Top 50 Barbecue Joints and often cited by national writers, it’s pure Panhandle hospitality on a tray.

Solid brisket that was easy to cut with a fork. Didn’t fall apart, but wasn’t tough. Really good bark. A little dry on the finish, but overall solid. The rub on the ribs was excellent. The Jalapeño Cream Corn and potato salad were good sides to complement the salt of the meat. I give the atmosphere a 4 but to be fair I came on a Tuesday night about 45 minutes before closing so it was pretty slow. Great Texas BBQ in Amarillo!

Google
Highly recommended for brisket lovers! The meat is cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The atmosphere truly enhances the restaurant experience, and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. A minor point of refinement: When we first approached the restaurant, it looked quiet and a bit deserted, to the point we wondered if they might be closed. The blinking “Open” sign was our clue! Once inside, though, the entire experience pleasantly contradicted that initial impression. Kudos to Isaiah and the cashier! They were both exceptionally kind, helpful, and welcoming throughout our visit. Their genuine smiles and attentiveness really elevated the entire experience.

We really enjoyed eating here. The servers were fantastic. The food was amazing. We really enjoyed everything we had. My husband had the Frito Pile and I had the potato with chopped brisket. We also had banana pudding and peach cobbler. Everything was really delicious. I recommend this place. It was a great stop!

We have family and friends who recommended Tyler’s Barbeque to us and were pleased to try it while visiting Amarillo. Let me positively affirm the service was fantastic (and very friendly)! The atmosphere was second to none!!! Fun atmosphere, decorations and home town feel. Loved that! The barbecue SAUCE was amazing! Try the jalapeño cream corn. That was good. That’s the best of Tyler’s. The brisket and pulled pork was very dry and absent the anticipated smoky flavor. The sausage was even overcooked (but this was flavorful). The white bread wasn’t even toasted or buttered. I paid more than $23 for a two-meat dinner plate and the portion size was unreasonably small for the price charged (see my photo). Tyler’s is way overpriced. It is not worth the money if you are considering a dinner plate.

Google
Absolutely the best bbq I've had in texas. The ribs fell off the bone and needed no sauce, the flavor was great. The mac n cheese which has onion and green chileez was incredible. (Only served on thursdays) just a heads up! The service was great also! I would definitely recommend to anyone especially if your from out of town.

I was passing through the area and wanted Texas BBQ. Flavor was good. I had the brisket sandwich. It was smaller than my side of coleslaw amd my hand completely covered the sandwich lol. I did like the coleslaw and the lemonade was great!

Google
We’ve been going to Tyler’s for years! We’ve always been fans. The brisket some of the best I’ve ever had. The smokes pork belly is heaven, my go to is turkey with some sausage, tater salad and some of the greatest beans ever. Please save room for the bread pudding because after you eat that it’s a smile on the face and nappy time!!!!

Google
Fantastic bbq at a reasonable price. I had the brisket and hot links with two sides, jalapeno creamed corn and beans. The standout was obviously the brisket, with a delicious char and so tender you barely had to use the fork. The surprise was the jalapeño corn. It was so spicy and flavorful. I just wish it wasn't so far from home.

Yelp
When visiting Amarillo, I was told by two of my colleagues, that if I wanted good BBQ, I should visit Tyler's, or Spicy Mikes. Since we were in a bit of a hurry, we stopped at Tyler's on the way to the airport - luggage in tow. The team was amazing, reducing a line of patient patrons in only minutes. Being exactly lunchtime, there was a line to the door. I could see people's orders: Pork Belly burnt ends... sausages, brisket. It all looked very nice. We went with brisket sandwiches as a steady baseline, but the guy in front of us! Oh my gee... sausages chopped into smoked turkey, packed into a baked potato. Really glad we stopped in, it's an Amarillo institution that you shouldn't miss. The place is clean, quick, the pickles are excellent, all meats smoked to perfection. The sauces are memorable. I truly hope I get to visit Tyler's again sometime!

Yelp
The bbq is really really good here!!!!! One of the best I've tried!!!! We tried the 3 item plate and chose ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The plate also came with 2 sides of slaw and potato salad and everything on this plate was delicious!!!!!!! We also ordered a brisket sandwich and it was bomb!!!! We arrived right when it opened and it quickly got full with people. The restaurant is very clean and food is pretty much ready within minutes. This is a MUST try place if you're in Amarillo or surrounding areas.

Yelp
Sadly, Tyler's didn't live up to the hype for us. We did a little research to find the best bbq restaurant in Amarillo, and it seemed Tyler's was the favorite. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but the meal really missed the mark. The brisket was quite dry, the pulled pork lacked flavor, and the beans were not at all what you would expect from a bbq place. There were a couple of good things too. The pork ribs and smoked turkey were good, and the jalapeño corn was pretty good. Overall, the meal wasn't worth the long wait in line. The restaurant was spacious, so it's a good place for a group or family. We are from out of town, so I doubt we will be back. I just wanted to give some honest feedback for those searching for a place to eat in Amarillo.

Yelp
Fantastic! 10/10! The food was hot and fresh! The staff was so friendly. I ordered the #2 sandwich which comes with two meats. Lordy! I got the turkey and chopped brisket with the side of Jalepenos cream corn. All were excellent. I really hate bbq sauce because it's always too sweet, but their hot bbq hit the spot. Top it off with a beer... voila!
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding food and outstanding people! This is my new favorite bbq in Amarillo, can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town

Yelp
Very well done BBQ! They cut it right in front of you! Simple & fast service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The pulled pork was moist, but had no flavor until I added barbecue sauce. The brisket had a nice bark. It had a nice flavor, but it was dry. I think the pork rib had a nice flavor and it was tender. The corn was also good and I was very surprised that the potato salad was good. I liked spicy barbecue sauce. I'll give it a three, but brisket and pulled pork was very disappointing.

Dennis D.

Yelp
Best barbecue I've ever had the ribs fell off the bone and had great flavor. The brisket was tender and moist with tons of flavor. The sides were very good also along with dessert. The service was friendly and efficient. The seating was picnic style.

Yelp
Stopped on way home from a trip. Eaten here before, so we knew it was good. Easy to find off I-40. Service is really friendly. Order at front then sit down. We ordered the 1 meat dinner, sliced brisket with Jalapeno corn and potato salad. Brisket is pretty good. Large portion of the cream corn, so will share next time. Potato salad very good, even with too many onions. Sweet tea good. Don't forget to order Bread Pudding!! You can share that too.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally the best barbecue I've ever had in a restaurant! I had heard the ribs and brisket were the stars here, and they certainly did not disappoint! Will definitely be coming back here every time I come to Amarillo!
google avatar

Yelp
A wonderful BBQ joint with friendly employees, great food, and a kind owner who took the time to talk with us after our meal. My daughter devoured her pulled pork sandwich and I thought the brisket was just perfect. Would definitely come back the next time I make it to Amarillo!

Yelp
On drive back from Colorado, had this place on my list to try. It was a late lunch and they had run out of sliced brisket, so went with chopped brisket sandwich, jalapeno cream corn, pork belly bites, and peach cobbler. The service was friendly from everyone working there. I took it to go since I wanted to hike Palo Duro before the sun set. The pork bites are worth it! The jalapeno cream corn had a little kick that was good and the sandwich hit the spot. Peach cobbler was taken home so that I could heat up and eat a la mode.

Yelp
My Barbecue guy In Encinitas, Ca said I had to stop at Tyler's on my drive to Virginia. Easy to get to off of Interstate-40. I arrived as the place opened at 11 and there were already 10 cars in the parking lot. I went with the 3 meat dinner plate: ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. It was all I could do to not eat all of it for my lunch. Couldn't put the ribs down, I was able to save a little pork and brisket for dinner. Enjoy the picture. Love the smoke ring!!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Holy COW! Get here at 1100 opening. By 1130 there's a nice line of locals that know their business. Ribs were rubbed with plenty of pepper. Taste before you sauce them up! Incredible tenderness, smoky beefy. Slaw had good garlic bite, but loved the jalapeño cream corn. No Music is a big disappointment. Interior is Texas Chic. Service is fast and friendly Brisket was so wonderfully soft that the meat slipped off the fork. Amazingly flavorful
google avatar

Brandon V.

Yelp
The best bbq I've had in Amarillo. The ribs were tender but not mush and the brisket had great flavor. Even the sides were A+

Butch J.

Yelp
So good, I bought the t-shirt. Every item ordered was top-shelf. My ribs and beef brisket had the perfect bark and taste and texture, just melted in my mouth. The sides, creamed corn and potato salad, were excellent. Tyler's is some of the best bbq I have ever enjoyed. The staff was friendly, service fast, the bbq sauces excellent and the dining room is both charming and clean.
google avatar

Kou X.

Yelp
Ordered the pork belly. It was amazing!!! Tons of flavor. Do come early because they do run out of certain cuts like brisket, ribs, and chicken. Friendly staff and environment. Will definitely go again when I'm in Amarillo.

Tara L.

Yelp
Has always been the best BBQ in town imo! Love the customer service and of course the food! Top notch!!
google avatar

Yelp
I would say this is the best bbq I've had in Amarillo. Been there twice now and both times the brisket was very good...both the flat and the point. Ribs were very good, sausage was great - especially the jalapeno cheddar. Pork was ok. Jalapeno cream corn was very good, beans were ok, slaw was ok. Banana pudding was great! I was able to meet Tyler and check out the smokers. A really great and fun guy with a very good smoke joint. Will certainly be back!

Yelp
We are on a road trip from California to Midwest. This is our lunch spot. We saw really high review and was excited!! The ribs are really good, soft and juicy and already full of flavor without adding the BBQ sauce. We ordered the brisket 1/2 pound as well, but I ordered it sliced, so it was not as juicy as if it was to be chopped up. The jalapeno corn was surprisingly good, not too spicy ( I have low tolerance), not overpowering, creamy but not too cheesy. It was a great side And peach cobbler was good. I think too sweet for my Asian taste. Tea was also good, but too sweet for me. The staff was nice to help us to cut down the cost by replacing our drink as a side so it's a few dollars cheaper. The Ambience is very Texas? It's clean, and friendly, nothing fancy, but cowboy vibe! Saturday only beef ribs is what we didn't realize that we could have ordered. Make sure to order and try that!!
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Very solid bbq, and convenient for any road trippers! I'll be honest, I've tried bbq in west Texas before while on a road trip and was just not impressed, so Tyler's was welcomed redemption. The staff is friendly, service is quick, prices are reasonable, sauce and sides are tasty, and of course the meat is good. Dog friendly patio, too! Definitely worth a visit.
google avatar

Tasha M.

Yelp
Great bbq and quick service. Beware that if you come in the evening, most of the bbq will be sold out. Thankfully, they had a few options for me to try. The chopped brisket was excellent, very moist, and not too fatty. I also enjoyed the cheese sausage even though I wanted the jalapeño sausage. I also liked the sides that came with the combo. The homemade coleslaw and corn were both good. Prices were reasonable, and two sauce choices were available at each table. Both had great flavors. I can't wait to come back to try the ribs and other sides.

Yelp
We were out of town last week and tried another BBQ Restaurant! Not bad but not Tyler's! Amarillo we are so spoiled. Don't miss your backyard best in Texas BBQ

Dan D.

Yelp
This might be the best bbq I've ever had and I'm a big bbq fan. I try not to lightly throw around 5 star ratings, but if I could I'd give this 6 stars. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. Brisket and jalapeño creamed corn stood out as incredible. Cool place and atmosphere also, very clean and inviting. Staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. Price was very fair for what we purchased. Not much more I can say other than I'd drive out of my way to come back and I'd recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service, fantastic barbeque and nice casual dining environment. I'm glad we picked up a bottle of their house made BBQ sauce to bring home!
google avatar

Gregg N.

Yelp
I was nervous when I pulled into the lot. Only one vehicle BUT the OPEN sign was lit. So I went in. Saw the sign on the door... luckily they hadn't sold out. Ordered the chopped brisket and green beans! It was good. I topped the brisket with Tyler's Craft Mustard... tasty! I was basically the only one in line, so my food was ready with no wait! I might try the chicken next time!

Yelp
Consistently excellent! I have eaten here many times and must say it is amazing how consistent the food remains over the years. My go to are the ribs and for my wife the sliced brisket sandwich. The friendly service of the staff as well as the food, tea, and Tyler himself remain outstanding and very genuine. Always clean and organized facility I know just where to find whatever I need. And if you can't find it the staff are right there to help. As if they already know what you were looking for. Amazing service!! Believe me this is the place for barbecue in Amarillo and no doubt the entire panhandle. We don't have anything remotely like it in OKC. I haven't eaten at every barbecue restaurant in Texas, but this one has to be one of the very best.

Yelp
Been eating here for many years whenever I come thru Amarillo Although on a recent visit I got the green Chili stew since it's a seasonal item. Delicious but it stayed with me for the next several days. My stomach stayed full for 3 solid days. I could still notice the flavor of the stew lingering in my stomach after 3 days. I didn't feel back to myself until 4 days later. Although it was delicious, it was clearly very heavy and something about it that made it stick around in my belly for a really long time. Not sure I would choose the green Chili stew again.
google avatar

Ingkar Z.

Yelp
I can give 4 star, everything good, but meat wasn't juice. But overall is good. It's pretty clean place I can say. We had a long wait.

Gina W.

Yelp
Driving through Amarillo and found this place on Yelp. The four of us enjoyed our lunch very much. The sausage, chopped and sliced brisket, coleslaw, potato salad, peach cobbler were all excellent! My favorite side was the jalapeño corn. This place is a must stop if you are in town!

Yelp
Driving through TX with my hubby and had lunch in Aramillo. I found this BBQ place on Yelp and not too far from the 40 hwy. I had the lunch special. Two meat mix, pork/brisket, sandwich, side, and drink for under $15.00! And had to try the peach cobbler of course. The brisket and pull pork comb sandwich with Tyler's BBQ sauce was freaking great. Hubby had the pull pork lunch special with potato salad. He devoured it. Great place, definitely adding it to my eatery places in TX. Thank you!

Rob P.

Yelp
The pinto beans were average but the green beans and turkey were solid. I was expecting more on the brisket and it was not bad, but you are in cattle country. Tyler's needs to step up there game as barbecue joint competition has increased and serving a chopped brisket sandwich on a cold plain bun just does not stack up. At least toast the bun. Like Jim Carey in Liar Liar said... "I've had better."
google avatar

Eddie E.

Yelp
I have been coming to Texas for years and this is by far, the best BBQ I have found. Walking in, the smell of smoky deliciousness lets you know it is going to be a good ride.
google avatar

Jeannie L.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!! Jalapeño creamed corn was out of sight! First time in Texas and first Texas BBQ. Did not disappoint.

Sierra M.

Yelp
The staff were very nice and the service was very fast. The ribs had a sweet flavor and were tender. The brisket was tender and salty. The BBQ sauce was good.

Yelp
well worth a stop!! likely the best food i ate on my roadtrip along I-40. i ordered a two meat plate with sliced brisket and pulled pork (they were out of ribs at 2pm on a saturday, with an hour or so wait for more), potato salad and slaw for the sides, and all the fixings/condiments - spicy bbq sauce, diced raw onion, pickles, and pickled jalapenos. everything was fresh and delicious and it was clear that the sides and condiments weren't just an afterthought, there was real love and attention to detail that made the whole meal shine. smoky, sweet, and spicy bbq sauce with fresh ground pepper, perfectly tart pickles, bright green and red jalapenos, creamy, well-seasoned potato salad and a crispy, lightly sweetened slaw. i was so happy to make a saucy lil pulled pork sandwich with the texas toast. the brisket did seem a tad salty but it mellowed out when i ate leftovers the next day. i also got a sweet tea - i do prefer a stronger and sweeter sweet tea so i'd probably skip next time. but there will be a next time !!! staff was real sweet too. line was long when i got there so i called in a phone order from the line and it was ready in about 20 minutes.

Yelp
HOLY! MEAT! Our family did an eclipse trip from Utah to Texas. We love Texas barbecue, but we'd never eaten it in the homeland. Until now! We are kind of barbecue snobs (our favorite is Little Miss BBQ), so we were thinking Tyler's would just be "okay." Nope. It was great!! Fabulous! The consistency is what impressed me. Every single meat and every single side dish was above average. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs, cherry cobbler, beans, potato salad, banana pudding... even the dang sauces!! It was home run after home run. We waited in line for Goldee's a few days later, and honestly, Tyler's brisket was better. I'm serious! Thank you, Tyler's! I want to live in Amarillo now.

Yelp
On a long road trip From TN to California. As a Memphis bbq fan, I had to come check out some Texas BBQ. The sweet smell of smoked wood hit us as soon as you got to the parking lot . The menu was easy to follow and the choices were great! We couldn't decide so we got 4 different meats . Ordering was smooth and we had our food immediately! The staff were nice The food was really good ! Not the absolute best bbq I've had, but definitely a solid choice and worth the stop if you're in the area!

Yelp
We stopped here on the way to Santa Fe and it was delicious. The jalapeño corn was amazing--highly recommend. I was most impressed with how the staff handled an unbelievably rude customer who loudly demanded her money back after being dissatisfied with her food. She spoke in a horribly demeaning tone and repeatedly asked for the manager. The staff at the register remained calm and a man (possibly the manager) calmly told her he'd be happy to refund her. She continued to loudly create a scene and disturbance all while the manager politely responded to her. I hated to see someone be so disrespectful especially bc I was impressed with the food and enjoyed my experience. All this to say kudos to the staff for handling an unpleasant situation so well.

Yelp
Solid bbq spot with fast & friendly service. This place is full of Texas charm. From the homemade sauce to the sides, you can tell they use high quality, fresh and flavorful ingredients. The meats were on the dryer side, which I was a little disappointed by, but I was glad they weren't dried out and they still packed a nice amount of flavor before you add any sauce. They offer tons inside seating but we were really grateful for the outdoor seating where pets are welcomed. They even have water and a little turf area for dogs to use the restroom off to the side. Great spot.
google avatar

Brianna R.

Yelp
Not my favorite Texas BBQ. I had high hopes, but the food was just okay overall. We got a 4 meat plate: brisket, ribs, chicken, mild sausage. The sausage was delicious and I would buy it by the box. The chicken breast was dry - and it wasn't bone in (idk why they do it this way). The fattier pieces of the brisket were pretty good. The ribs were hit or miss. I had a smaller piece that was well done and falling off the bone, but the other bigger pieces were not tender and the meat clung to the bone. They dry rub they use was too peppery for me. I prefer to eat ribs without sauce, but I added a bit for the sweetness to balance things out. For sides we shared green beans and potato salad. The green beans were excellent! They tasted very fresh, not from a can. The potato salad had celery in it :( I would give Tyler's another try because they're ranked so highly, but my first experience here was just okay.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Outstanding! Didn't disappoint as the ribs were tasty moist and flavorful. Their coleslaw was delicious as well as the jalapeño cream corn. Tyler (the owner) was such a nice guy greeting and talking with customers along with taking pics with them. I would highly recommend trying this Texas barbecue and I will be telling my friends! I hope Tyler lets me know if he liked the cookies?

Amanda F.

Yelp
It was amazing brisket and chicken! We had a very enjoyable time eating outside and spending time together!

Yelp
Good family friendly place to go to for some BBQ. There is an outdoor area with some trees where you can even bring your dogs with you as well. Even though there was a line when I went there, I was able to get through pretty quickly. It isn't the best BBQ that I have had, but definitely worth going to.
google avatar

Tad J.

Yelp
Excellent value and food. The pulled pork was tender and cooked to perfection. Added some of the house BBQ sauce and it was to die for! Green chile stew was very flavorful with a nice kick!

Yelp
My family and I were taking a road trip to Oklahoma and we were passing through Amarillo, TX and didn't want to miss out on the opportunity of having some Texas BBQ. First place that showed up on yelp was Tylers Barbeque, so we decided to give it a try. We definitely made the right choice. Right when you walk in, the place is decked out in TX Style Fashion. Old pick up trucks right in the front with Tyler's logo, cowboy boots and lots of cool signs to look at. The ambiance was giving "you're in Texas" vibes. This is one of those BBQ places where you order at the counter and get your food on a tray and sit down. They had plenty of options to choose from but we came at the end of the day so they only had a few meat options left to choose from. What we ate: My sister and I pretty much got the same thing which was the #2 Sandwich which included 2 meats, one side, & a medium drink. For my meats I chose chopped/sliced brisket and hotlink sausages. I ended up choosing the Jalapeño cream corn as my side and I'll say you can't go wrong with creamy corn with a kick. This meal was absolutely delicious. As my drink, I got the sweet tea...unfortunately it tasted very watered down and was really hoping for some TEXAS sweet tea, but I will say we came at the end of the day so it could have been that. Nothing that was a deal breaker. My mom had the dinner plate that came with two meats, two sides, and Texas toast. She ended up with ribs, brisket, jalapeño cream corn, and chips. She described the meat as really tender and flavorful. My dad also got a dinner plate and shared with my youngest sister. They chose brisket, hotlink sausage, Texas toast, beans, and chips. According to my dad, the brisket was juicy and tender so much so you could cut it like butter without the meat falling apart. The beans were really good but wish there was a little kick in it. According to my bf the coleslaw was top tier. I will say I wish there was cornbread or Mac n cheese as a side option. We ended up chit-chatting with the owner and bbq chef himself, Tyler. He was a great guy who had a lot of stories about the military and Air Force aircrafts (my family is a big military family). He was very friendly, super inviting, and overall his presence and food were greatly appreciated. Overall, highly recommend coming to this bbq spot whether you are local or passing through the city. Food, service, and ambiance was amazing. This would be a great summer spot to go to as well. Oh, I also forgot to mention that they had plenty of bbq sauce options including their homemade sauces. We ended up buying some to take home. Thank you Tyler for the amazing Texas bbq experience!

Yelp
We had the absolute best beef rib for lunch Saturday. Not always on the menu, but when it is, order it. Pulled pork and black pepper sausage is great too. Brisket is smoky and moist. I think it's the best BBQ in the Texas panhandle.
google avatar

Steve F.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. Excellent food and the cream corn is to die for! Will always visit when in town

Monica J.

Yelp
As far as brisket goes Tyler's doesn't miss, great flavor, thick ,tender cut pieces , bbq sauce is good too but the meat is prepared so perfectly I ate most of it by itself! Sides were good too, potato salad, coleslaw and fries. A worthwhile stop and great representation of true Texas bbq!
