We had a very enjoyable evening here. The view is amazing, the ambience sympatico, the seating comfortable, the staff obliging and attractive. It's a great place for a treat or a special occasion.
The food from Überland's uncomplicated menu is pretty good too. You won't find dazzlingly original dishes here but it's all executed with a high degree of competence, with one or two caveats.
My wife's starter of Garnelen carpaccio was excellent, delicately but distinctively flavoured and meltingly textured, one of our outstanding choices. I also liked my generous crown of smoked trout with sour cream, chopped cucumber and a cold sorrel consommé, although there was much too much cucumber, rather drowning the subtle side-notes the sorrel broth might have added.
For main course my wife had the fillet of veal, which was superb. I was greedy and went for the huge grilled Porterhouse steak. The meat was excellent and the flavour very very good. However there seemed to be a slight misunderstanding about how I wanted it cooked. I think this may result from a widespread German perception that English people like their steaks practically raw. I asked for it bloody-rare; it was more like blue, to be truthful, a tad too undercooked for that cut. Still, the quality ensured it was nevertheless delicious, and I enjoyed it. I did not want to send it back. It's a problematical area, though.
We rounded things off by sharing their superb crème brûlée. Fabulous. Loved the little espresso meringues too.
They have an excellent drink menu. Very good Alkoholfrei cocktails. The half-bottle of Lanson Black Label for my wife was very approachable and decently priced.
This is not a place to go on a budget, but it's very good. Recommended.
