Yelp
A great place to grab Japanese-style, udon noodles where locals will frequent but is friendly toward foreigners. While it isn't completely white-washed with high jacked-up prices and jaded staff, be aware that the English menu they provide does not have all of their menu items translated, so if you're completely dependent on it, you may miss out on some tasty dishes. But don't be turned off by that, just ask for a Japanese menu as well, and see if you can decode the items for yourself.
All that being said! The food was great; as a noodle-lover, their udon wasn't so thick that you feel full after just three strands, but the dishes make for a hearty meal, even if you order the cold dipping style. They also feature a soymilk broth/dipping sauce that is quite unique. I personally had the hot soymilk broth udon with charred chicken (which isn't on the English menu) and it was great. The dish was light but comforting, and every ingredient added to the bowl was distinct, but surprisingly went well together; from the light soymilk broth, to the charring of the chicken, even the yuzu zest that was used to garnish the dish made a presence on your pallet.
The cold dipping udon also made for a great order. While the noodles are dense and filling, the nature of which you eat the dish makes it almost too easy to slurp down, especially on a hot summer's day. When the order came, my friend and I were actually surprised at the large volume!
The restaurant is great for those who want to experience authentic culture through food, but who may not be so adventurous as to try something completely alien to their diet (like raw chicken for example). I would definitely recommend the place, and look forward to coming back again!
