Avoid this place at all cost!-- This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I have ever had.
Upon arrival, the first sign of trouble was the complete absence of a host. The restaurant was practically empty, with the exception of two women at the bar and a bartender who seemed to have a singular focus: them. He was so engrossed in his flirtatious conversation that he was completely oblivious to our presence. We stood awkwardly for what felt like an eternity before finally giving up and finding an empty table ourselves.
The neglect continued. It took over 10 minutes for the bartender to finally amble over to our table, his attention still clearly elsewhere. Frankly, I've had faster service at a busy food court. Fed up with the lack of attention, I decided to order on my phone, which, in hindsight, was the only efficient part of the entire visit. The fact that a customer has to resort to mobile ordering to get any service at all speaks volumes about the level of disinterest from the staff.
Throughout the duration of our meal, we were never approached by a single waiter or waitress. Not to check on our food, not to refill our drinks, not even to acknowledge our existence. We were invisible. The only people receiving any sort of attention were the two ladies at the bar, who were still being captivated by the bartender's charms.
The truly shocking part, however, was what my husband discovered when he went to use the restroom. He walked in to find a member of the Umami Burger staff, in uniform, swishing something in his mouth. In the very next stall, another staff member was actively changing clothes. This is beyond unprofessional; it's a complete disregard for basic hygiene and decorum in a public dining establishment.
As if the poor service and bizarre bathroom antics weren't enough, the state of the kitchen was also a sight to behold. We could see the entire staff lounging, laughing, and generally having a great time, completely unconcerned with the fact that they had a paying customer waiting over 20 minutes for their food. It was a slap in the face. Their priority was clearly their own amusement, not providing a positive experience for their customers.
This wasn't just bad service; it was an act of complete and utter apathy. The staff at this Umami Burger location demonstrated a shocking level of unprofessionalism and a total lack of respect for their patrons. The food, when it finally arrived, was an afterthought. We will never, ever be returning. Save yourself the frustration and the disgust. Avoid this place at all costs.
