Delicious burgers and fries. Quick food service at lunchtime. Friendly staff. They were slow to refill our water glasses. Nice, modern aesthetic and design. They had a well-stocked bar. The strawberry iced tea had too much sugar, and I couldn't get past the first sip. You have to park in either the two Irvine Spectrum parking garages or parking lot so it's quite a walk to get over here. Pro Tip: this is a great spot for an early business lunch or lunch date because it's basically deserted during lunchtime. We were the only ones seated in the entire restaurant from 11:30 to 12:30. It was outstanding.

I was surprised. The quality of the food it was so delicious makes me crave it just thinking about it. The drinks were also spot on. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area, especially if you're about to cache a comedy show. Our waitress was amazing. She was helpful, attentive, and most importantly nice.

Google
The place wasn't too busy, maybe 4 tables of people and the rest of the tables open. There were 4 employees in the front of house as well. We ordered the Umami Burger and The Black Garlic Burger. After we put in the order, the server kind of disappeared. We were sitting for a bit and no one went to check on the food. Finally we asked to see if our order is ready and it came out. The burgers were suprisingly much much better than I expected. The burgers were insanely juice and the cheese was melted to perfection. I really really liked the food but the service was the complete opposite. We waited about 15 more minutes until we flagged down an employee (wasn't our server) for the check.

Google
Son recommended this place because he know I love a great burger place, he wasn’t wrong. We both had the Black Garlic Burger, Tots with three cheese stuffed inside and parmesan sprinkled on the outside. Had the Garlic Fries, Sweet Potato and one other. Adrian was our server and made some great recommendations. They make an amazing Bloody Mary here as well. Quick and friendly service and lots of room for everyone.

Google
I ordered the regular burger and it was horrible. It was so dry. It extended way over the bun, so it was probably smashed too much and cooked for too long. .The sweet potato fries were really good though. The waiter was so nice and so friendly.

Google
The food is great and our servers are awesome everytime! Shoutout to Brian and the kitchen staff who makes us feel special when he brings out our order (sorry I didn't get your name). We got the korean burger, sunnyside burger, lettuce wrapped truffle burger, and truffle fries. (I hope I got that right >_<). I took down a star because the truffle fries are no longer what they used to be (shoestring fries packed with more truffle flavor doused in white cheese and chives). Wish they could bring that back and this place would be solid for all of us again. We didn't go here for a while grieving the loss of them fries, and overall just no longer come here as often as we would like. But that could be for the best for our diets anyways so ✌

Google
Third time Ive come here and as always its dead. Waited at the check in for a few minutes then we just walked in and the guys just sitting in one of the booths chilling. Water tasted of lemon, probably just cleaner. Pricey burgers that are nothing special in my opinion. For the same price you can get more anywhere else.

Google
Came in saw a Lots of tables that needed to be cleared, picked from seating available. Pretty dead didn't even look like a functioning restaurant. The menu only offered the double patty options, burger buns were not the soft umami stamped buns or any flavor that I remember from the popular chain. The cocktails were poorly made, flat soda, tasted like pure corn syrup. None of tables surrounding ever got cleared during our dining experience, just improv employees dragging their feet looking "distracted" walking around at the tables that needed bussing but never bringing a bucket. More guests arrive looking for service prior to the improv show and receive none. Customers are found looking for a clean table to sit at, grabbing menus from dirty tables, standing waiting for service or at the bar or simply walking out. Had to walk around the inside until we found boxes on our own. Thankfully there is a payment QR code taped to the table because we never saw our server once after receiving our food. Overall got a weird ghost kitchen vibe. And will NOT be returning.

Yelp
Review is long overdue on this one.. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and service from Umami. I had not looked into any reviews or checked out their menu beforehand. Went into this one blind and came out pretty happy. The smash style burgers were pretty tasty. Our waiter gave us a plate with all the various sauces they had, so along with the fries, it was fun to dip and bite. I can say nothing stood out enough to have me racing back, but it was a nice change of pace from the usual spots we dine at while in Irvine. I would certainly consider a second visit when in the area and craving a burger. For the record, we went on a weekend for dinner and the place was pretty mellow despite the Spectrum being swamped with people. I am not sure what to make of that, but at the time I was alright with it.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Their sweet fries are better than their thin fries. Even with the seasoning on the regular fries, they didn't have much flavor and were somewhat bland. On a positive note, everything comes with a choice of dip, so you can use the fries as a vessel for your condiments. My favorite was the jalapeno ranch (which is very un-Buffalo of me to admit). My son and I both enjoyed the chili cheeseburger and chicken tenders. Wasn't expecting jalapenos on the cheeseburger, but it brought the perfect amount of heat. Service was slow, but we went during the lunch hour when everyone else decided too. Overall, a decent choice if you are craving a fast food burger and tenders.

Yelp
I was shock that Unami burger was closing due to bankruptcy. Also saw an Episode of YouTube that the owner/ founder was squatting at someone's house in L.A. Anyway, the burger was not bad. Too bad... Go try it before they close all the shop. Right now only two location open. One at the mall and one at the LAX airport.

Yelp
Oh my gosh the service was amazing here!!! The food....insane and so well priced! I had a gluten free bun and they had so many sauces for our friends, my daughter and I are "dippers" and we were in dip heaven with all the options they had. We will definitely be back. Her and I had some work to do and caught the slow time in between lunch's dinner and the outdoor seating with the Cali breeze and amazing service was perfection. They were playing several games in the outdoor bar area and the indoor seating was massive too. We loved lived this place!

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch here with a friend before shopping and it was pretty disappointing. So sad because Umami Burger used to be so good! I think we got there right when it opened so we were the only ones there and service was still pretty slow. We sat outside where lots of TVs were displayed. Food options sounded so interesting and delish so I was excited. What I ordered: -The Black Garlic Burger: This was pretty large, I didn't realize it was 2 smashed patties! Meat was dry and not very flavorful. Dashi onions weren't very flavorful either. The black garlic sauce was the only thing giving this burger flavor. 3/5 -Thin Fries w/ Black Garlic Sauce: I totally didn't realize that I got the same dipping sauce that was in the burger but it was good with the fries. It added a good aioli and truffle flavor to them. The fries weren't anything special though, didn't taste like much without the garlic sauce. ***Note: I did take the fries and sauce home and reheated the fries in my toaster oven to the point where they were super crispy. When paired with the sauce it hit different for some reason at home. It could be because taste palate was cleansed and I was able to taste the sauce more but I def recommend doing this if you have leftover fries lol*** Overall, this place was very mid. I always held Umami Burger in such high esteem because it was one of the first fusion burgers that I ever tried that I really enjoyed. But then again, this was years ago at the Anaheim location so not sure if that one's still the same or if it's just this location that was a flop. I always felt like this place was pricey but worth it, but now it's pricey and definitely not worth it. Sad!

Yelp
I like this Umami. The burgers and fries were really good, and the service was great too! We came here for the first time recently and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service! We came here after a recent shopping trip and ordered some food to-go. We ordered the truffle burgers and then some fries. When we asked the staff which fries were the best, the parm truffle fries were the hands-down winner. They also liked the thin fries too! We even ordered the apple pie as well. We've had the truffle burgers before and they were delicious as usual. The fries were great too. The thin fries were just a tad spicier which was a fun change from usual fries. Everyone that worked here were also so nice and helpful. When we're in the neighborhood, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM and was surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty, which made it easy to seat our party of 12. Being from San Diego, I used to frequent the Umami locations in Anaheim and Hollywood when they first opened. Their burgers have definitely changed since then--it's more of a smashed patty style now, rather than the thick patties they used to serve. While I wish they stuck to the old style, the burgers are still tasty. I ordered the truffle burger with thin fries, and both were delicious. The fries were so good I couldn't stop eating them--definitely a portion big enough for two to share. The highlight of our visit was our server, Ryan. He was incredibly accommodating, handling our request to split the check three ways for a party of 12 with ease. He was patient, friendly, and personable throughout our entire meal, making the experience even better.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great but food is disappointing. The fries were lukewarm and the burger lacks truffle flavor. Beef patty was fresh but probably won't be back anytime soon.
google avatar

Daniel K.

Yelp
What happened Umami. They moved over to smashburgers. Just not the same. I got the truffle burger and it was just so dry and overcooked. They loaded it with pickles and that's all I tasted. It was just pretty disappointing...maybe I'm just too nostalgic for what Umami used to be like? Regardless, our last visit was not what I expected. Service was also not great. We dropped by for dinner right when they opened. It was pretty empty, but service was slow. And when we finally got someone at our table, you could tell they did not want to be there. Not interested in explaining the menu when we had questions, no eye contact, just very impersonal. It's a meh for me. What a bummer.

Yelp
Umami.. a flavor profile invented by the hallmark greeting cards, speaks to the foodie in all of us. Umami burger had a wonderful selection of burger combos all under the soft and pillowy brioche helmet and greasy melted cheese with your choice of patty. There are choices for most diets or ways of life-- depending on where you're from-- the impossible patty is available for any burger as well as catering to the vegan folks. Togadashi fries though were so addicting. I would recommend trying it with the black garlic sauce AND their truffle ketchup (all restaurant-made!). Hopefully it means rat turds free as most ketchup manufacturers would have us believe. The truffle parm fries were good too but it's a little crumbly and the sweet potato fries were thin and fries like. If you catch my drift. Wink wink. The burgers though, delish. Rich and $3 cheaper if you order a single patty rather than double. Love their menu!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
I'm not convinced this is the same umami burger as the one in Santa Monica. The burgers here are dry, the buns and patties are burnt, and everything is way too salty. I ordered the umami burger and there's no cheese crisp, it's just melted cheese. The umami sauce doesn't seem to be the one they have at Santa Monica. The fries are okay. They gave us way too many sauces for just 2 orders of fries. I find it hard to believe this is the same umami burger. There are several parking lots at the spectrum mall and even valet.
google avatar

Steph C.

Yelp
We haven't been to umami for years but their burger quality totally went down. The patty was super dry and tasted like something we could get at a fast food place, which was a total let down from how good it used to be. The service was amazing as well as the fries and dips options, but we wouldn't go back just for that. Hopefully they revamp their menu again.
google avatar

Clinton C.

Yelp
Really don't recommend visiting. The truffle and umami burger were extremely dry, burnt, and had no flavor. I was very shocked at the low quality. Wouldn't come back even it was a $1. The sweet potato and regular fries were very bland. Service was kind and it has outdoor seating to be dog friendly. But the food just is sub par especially for the high price
google avatar

Yelp
End of day burger cravings satisfied at Umami restaurant. Service was fast. Ambiance was relaxed. Smash burgers were fulfilling. Mindless eating on the thin cut fries.

Chan L.

Yelp
Took over an hour for two burgers and two orders of fries. Only four other customers. This was Saturday 7/11 at 4
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
Used to love umami burger but I'm pretty sure the portions keep shrinking. Feels like a slider and I'm not full after one, so it's not worth the price to me. I got takeout here early afternoon on a Saturday, and the restaurant was completely empty.
google avatar

Sandy C.

Yelp
Service was reallly slow .. there was no one there, plenty of open tables and we still had to wait 15 mins for a table... Food was okay, wasn't worth the price.

Yelp
Oh man, just remove the umami branding. I loved umami burger!!! I ate at every location except the arts district one. During and after the pandemic it became too difficult/pricey to keep their original model. They started selling thin patty's and changing recipes. It wasn't the same but I remained loyal to the chain. Eventually all the locations closed, except for this one !!! (And the one in the airport). I set out to get another one of their burgers. I was excited to try it again. I knew it wouldn't be the same but something similar would do. BUT What is this?!?! If this is still "umami"due to being part of the Irvine improv just change the name. It's deceitful. The double truffle burger was so dry. I scraped my esophagus on a piece of charred meat. Didn't taste like any version of umami thus far and had no truffle flavor. I don't care if it's synthetic, pour some truffle oil on it. The service was also disorganized. We were told by several servers they would drop off waters but none of them brought them. We were told to order on the app but the previous patrons order was still there. We ordered with the servers and when they brought out our food they brought double the burgers. Two different servers eventually brought us water at the same time and they donated the extras to the people next to us. No napkins, no condiments. When we needed the check we had trouble flagging anyone down so we went to the front to ask but they were busy. Eventually we got the bartender to print out our check. The red lights really help hide the look of the burger.

Yelp
My date and I decided to have lunch at the Irvine Spectrum after some other morning festivities, since we could walk around the Spectrum and hang out after eating. Among the restaurant options the Spectrum had, Umami Burger stood out to him since they did not have a location in his area. The hostess told us to sit anywhere, and we just sat down at one of the empty tables. Apparently this was their shaded patio area, and I didn't realize until later that they had an inside area that we would have probably preferred. Good to know for future visits, if he wants to come back. Their menu is pretty simple, a two-sided piece of paper you can hold with one hand. My date had the Single Umami Burger which comes with their smashed patty, dashi onions, American cheese, pickled chips, umami sauce on a squishy bun. I had the Single Bacon Ranch Burger which comes with the smashed patty, dashi onions, American cheese, bacon, miso ranch sauce, on a squishy bun. We also got a side of fries to share. Since I had no preferences, he picked the Thin Fries and opted for the umami sauce. My date mentioned the burger didn't resemble what he remembered Umami burger to taste like. I think that's him politely saying it sucked. Mine was okay but nothing amazing. It's hard to go wrong with anything bacon. The fries just seemed like regular fries, didn't look extra thin or anything to be thin fries. The umami sauce was good. Pricing seems to be pretty decent. I didn't list it in my review since most of their pricing references the double patty versions of the burger, and we opted for the single patty. Service could be more attentive as we had to flag them for water refills and the check. I don't think we'll be coming back.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant with friends the other night (4 of us). The place was virtually empty - I think I saw 2 other seatedparties and a few people at the bar. The food was just ok. I've definitely had better burgers, though they all sure sounded good reading the menu. We had the thin fries. All the food was very salty. Their beer menu was less than desirable. Our waiter, "Rain" was not very good, especially considering how not busy it was. He didn't know the size of the burgers when asked. Quarter pound? Half pound? "Smash burger" is not a weight! My friend ordered extra of one thing on her burger and got none. She didn't get a glass with her beer, just the bottle. We had to ask for a glass, ask for the extra food, ask for mustard-which came in a single serve package. The waiter didn't check on us after we got all our food. Overall, I wasn't impressed at all.

Yelp
Don't know why the reviews are so bad. In my opinion, it was the BEST burger I ever had in my life. Very unique taste not only for burgers but also fries too. Definitely worth. Much better than shake shack. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
What happened to the quality of this brand? This was my first time visiting this location and my first time dining since COVID but sadly, all the nuances I loved such as the Parmesan crisp on the Original Umami burger. No logo stamped on the bun. No cheesy tots. Service was lacking (called ahead of time to get directions and the associate answered the phone with "hello". I had to ask if I'd dialed the right #) and slow which was odd considering the place was pretty empty. Our server was nice enough however there was a lengthy wait to get our drinks after ordering. So disappointing.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Food was terrible. No wonder there was no one inside during lunch time at this busy mall. Should have saw it as a red flag. Server was nice. Food, terrible. Dry patty. We wanted to complain so bad about our three burgers but we just couldn't. It was a pain to pay for a meal that none of us enjoyed. Should have went to shake shack. Waste of $60
google avatar

Elle K.

Yelp
I would have given this business 3 stars for the food. The burger was flavorful but too salty. The meat patty looks oversized because of the gluten free bread upgrade but the "imbalance" worked. Tasted and felt like a treat. 0 or 1 star for the male server who was extremely rude and gave me a hard time for asking for extra napkins. He declared some insane excuse that it's against California law to give more napkins to a GrubHub customer who clicked off the square for utensils/napkins. I did click the box. But even if I had not, what law says I cannot get more napkins. I am sure our politicians are making more important decisions. They are not interested in napkins at Umami Burger. What next level rudeness or laziness is this? Umami Burger is pricey. The service should be better.

Yelp
What happened to you guys! Seriously 4-5 years ago you were one of my go to places all the time. Then you dropped all the great burgers you used to have years ago. Quality of everything food, sauces, service has all gone to crap. Even tonight I wanted to give you all a try again and your website is down, can't find any locations to order online, the ordering system is broken, I tried calling the restaurant directly six times over about 20 minutes and no one ever answers. I don't know if you guys sold at some point and have new management or what happens. I genuinely want to love you guys used to love you guys and would like nothing else but to give you guys a five star but come on.
google avatar

Hedieh M.

Yelp
Patty was burnt but the fries were good. The place was empty and should have been the sign the food wasn't great.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the food here. We stopped here last week on our business meeting on a lunch break. The burgers here are real good. Got me a double cheeseburger with bacon and fries. Food was delicious with fresh tasting food. Nice people and good vibes here, I will be back.

Yelp
My bestie and I came here for lunch on a sunday. It's super spacious and lots of seating indoor and outdoor. We're from the Bay Area (North Cali) where mask are still required but was very surprised to see the mask is optional now (for vaccinated) in SoCal! Super great! The ordering system is self service. You scan the QR code on the table and it's super convenient that you can split the text and pay yourself. That's a game changer there when it comes to big party!! My bestie order the Classic Burger and I ordered their Umami Chik'n Wings. The service was fast and brought at our table fairly quickly. Also know that only two parties (incluing us) were here so we love the fast service especially when catching the plane right after to go back home. The Classic Burger was pretty good and tasty! The meat isn't dry and the sauce is super good! Their Chik'n Wings felt more of frozen nuggets you'd get in the super market. It was a bit on the dryer side even with the BBQ sauce. Overall experience, everything pretty much self service, ordering was super fast and quick, everyone was very welcoming and super nice.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday night for dinner and the service was somewhat slow despite very little people eating there. Quality of the burger was pretty underwhelming considering the price point (average burger, nothing much to it) and was just disappointing overall.

Israel A.

Yelp
Showed up here after being sent over from the Improv Comedy Club. Was told dining/drinking here would give us priority entrance. Stood at the hostess area for 20 minutes!! and told twice to wait to be seated. One person as hostess, bar attendant, and waiter. Left after waiting for 30 minutes being told to keep waiting to be seated. Needs to be better staffed.
google avatar

Debbie A.

Yelp
We stopped in after seeing some positive reviews, and I was craving a burger. The man got a double unami burger, and I had two bites, and I instantly regretted getting the bacon ranch burger because his was WAY better. My bacon ranch burger was ok, but nothing special. The bun on both burgers were soft and really tasty. The burger patties were both smashed and had a nice grill char. However, the ranch and bacon on mine were forgettable. The staff, although friendly enough, is also not memorable - bare minimum service. The place has a nice kinda indoor/outdoor covered area as well as an inside area. The outside area also had a bar, and that is who served us, the bartender. The outdoor patio had a Lazy Dog feel as people had dogs out there but no special pooch menu. The fried pie with yuzu was very good. It had a nice citrus cream filling. I would return here for that unami burger and that fried pie.

Yelp
Food 6/10 Service: 5/10 Environment: 9/10 The patties were juicy and the brioche buns were nice with the burger. However, there wasn't much "black garlic" flavor nor much of anything else beside the meat and cheese. The Truffle Burger was the same, with only meat cheese and truffle mayo on it. I would expect to have some other ingredients in the burgers (ex: Lettuce, tomato, onion) to give it more dimension. The cheesy potato tots where exactly what you could image (fried potato tots with cheese mixed in it). The service was average to below average. It wasn't busy at all when we came in and there wasn't anyone at the front for a few minutes. When a server did come he just said that we could sit where we wanted. The menu is just burger and fries, and we didn't even scan the QR code because he gave us a menu. I could tell some of the workers didn't want to be there. Our server was nowhere to be seen for majority of our time there. When the food came, we still didn't receive any napkins, plates or silverware. I had to ask for a knife to cut the burger (to share), and had to get up and ask somebody for napkins because after our food was served, no one was around. Environment is pretty dark with a rustic feel inside, but nice around the restaurant. Since they're located in the Irvine Spectrum Center, there's a lot of shopping and within walking distance of a movie theater. There's also plenty of other walk-in food places to eat there too. Look around.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
This place was nearly empty at 2 on a Saturday. Super fast accurate service for our party of 7. We all liked our food. The double umami burger was juicy and flavorful. Crisp tasty fries. The gluten free bun had a good texture. Definitely a good experience overall.

Yelp
I'm coming to this place after many years. At the Irvine spectrum. I was hoping to get an amazing burger like the way I used to get. This is the first time in 30 years I've been to a place where they don't have tomatoes in a burger. They don't even have it in their restaurant. they have to patties both of them overcooked. The fries were loaded with excessive salt. The condiments were served in to go containers. Everything from start to finish, was disappointing. Very disappointed of how poorly it's doing now and almost every aspect. There is a reason at 2:30 in the afternoon this place was completely empty. I think Management knows about it as well and they don't really care cause they didn't have any employees expecting one person to run the whole show. It's too much to ask for.

EG G.

Yelp
I had the truffle burger, sweet potato fries and a variety of side sauces. Overall I thought the food was delicious and service was great. It was a pretty slow afternoon but I'm glad to stopped by, tried the delicious burgers and fries and left with a happy and full belly. I was so hungry I didn't wanna wait to dig in

Yelp
5/5 Service. Our waitress was super friendly and was always checking in on us 4/5 Food. I got the parmesan burger, I love smash burgers and these were so good and so well seasoned. The togarashi fries were also really good they had a really nice kick to them. Menu is a bit small but I prefer smaller ones compared to a Cheesecake Factory type menu. A solid burger spot with really good customer service and ambiance. Prices are also not too bad, for my partner and I it ended up coming out to $40 which Included our two burgers, my fries, his tots, and a alcoholic beverage I ordered. Would definitely visit again!

Yelp
Review just for fries and drinks for happy hour~ We came here Friday evening during happy hour, great deals with $5 beer and well cocktails, $6 wine, and select discounted appetizers. Restaurant is spacious with bar, table, and indoor seating. I got the voodo ranger IPA and my BF got the mango cart, also some thin fries ($2). Both beers were fresh and off tap, mango cart had a fresh mango flavor, voodoo ranger was fresh and had a good IPA bite. Fries had a light umami flavor, well cooked and not overly salty. Took one star off since we had a mishap with the check, but the bartender took care of it professionally at the end. Overall, solid place to grab drinks for happy hour, would love to try the burgers my next visit!

Justin B.

Yelp
really sad what this place has become. use to come here all the time before covid. use to be full and their burger were the best. came again recently. place was empty. lights were almost all off. their unami burger doesn't have the bun it use it or the taste. it's now just a regular cheese burger that cost $15. I don't know how this place is paying their rent or workers. my guess they will be closed within months.

Yelp
Glad I stopped in here from a craving hunger versus the Yelp reviews. I might have been steered away with 3 stars, but I had a 5-star experience. I came in after a comedy show at the Improv, where they forgot my meal. I rolled in at 9:00 PM, right before closing. I was met with a happy server inviting me to sit. I did, took a menu, then realized I could everything via QR code. I ordered a burger and rings and before I was finished, I was visited by the same happy server to take my order. I shared that I'd done it on the app, and she still offered to bring my=e a drink while I waited. I took a glass of water. The food was out shortly. It looked dynamic! It tasted even better! A delicious eve!

Yelp
Quality has definitely gone done in the past year. The burgers were way too salty and were dry too. It's not terrible, but this location used to be a lot better. Service was still great, but definitely disappointed and not the Umami Burger I know. We did enjoy the appetizers. The cheesy potato tots were yummy but only come with 5 :(. The parmesan truffle fries were good too, kinda hard to mess up fries though! Best part of the meal and why the review is 3 stars instead of 1

Yelp
We stopped by for a snack before a comedy show and it was pretty meh. The drinks were all a little off, from cocktails to even the soda. The food was pretty tasty though. We split a burger and fries and both were pretty good.

Yelp
The umami truffle burger used to be one of my favorites. Then this brand expanded too fast and now they serve some thin, wanna-be smash burger, that is dry and disgusting. Just close your last locations and give up.

Yelp
i love this place. id say though not all things on the menu are created equal. id say if you get what they're good at EX: truffle burger it's a 5/5. don't expect to get a normal burger here. come for what they make! they also have good sauces & i lobe the truffle ketchup. the place is cool it's mostly outside. they have decent shakes too. i think service just depends on who u get but there's this one guy that's pretty chill and always super nice :) idk i think if you like those flavors you'll love it but if it's not your style or flavor preference you'll hate it type of thing.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice and our server was great, but the food quality has seriously gone down over the last several years. The truffle burger used to be great but now you can barely taste any truffle. Meat has zero flavor and is in desperate need of some seasoning. The burger didn't even come with truffle aioli like it used to. The patty is also significantly larger than the bun now so I had way more meat than I had bun and it wasn't pleasant given how bland the meat was. I also got the togarashi fries which also look nothing like they used to. Unfortunately given how significantly the quality of food has decreased, I won't be coming back here. We came during lunch hours on Saturday and there were only 2 other parties in the entire restaurant and that speaks volumes. If you guys would improve the quality of the food and make it the way it used to be, I'm sure you'd get more business. Honestly surprised this location hasn't shut down yet.

Yelp
What you'd expect for a burger at this pricing. Seems like a nice place to hang out, but was empty when we went.

Yelp
Food took 30 min+ even with nobody on a Saturday night, fries were thin and super hard. Server spilled water on friend and argued with another customer about something random Messed up 2-3 orders by having it as double patty instead of single patty? Burgers were burnt to a char around the edges and dry in the middle. This establishment was really good for quickly fell down in quality by skimping on the napkins quality. Wouldn't recommend

Yelp
Not to be dramatic, but Umami Burger was like the love of my life at one point. I got into a legit argument once because someone said they weren't a fan of Umami, and I wasn't about to let anyone smack talk my favorite burger place like that. And then they changed the menu. I've been avoiding Umami Burger for awhile now, but decided to come in on a whim to try out the new menu. It's... not bad. We got the Truffle Burger and the Impossible Classic Burger (which is basically a glorified In-n-Out burger). Truffle burger was a little greasy with all the sauce, but I will say that it was good and the brioche bun deserves some credit. Comes so plain though, so I had to add tomatoes and onions and the like. Decent, but it's just not the same. Nothing is the same, really. What I think Umami is missing most is the uniqueness it used to have. It was super memorable. Nothing will ever beat that OG burger with the tomato and parmesan crisp, the super thin truffle fries, the garlic aioli sauce, or the iconic "U" branded on the bun. The place also feels a little more hollow now, despite its prime location and it being a Friday night. Still a decent burger, but I'm sad that it isn't what it used to be and am not so sure I'd come back for it.

Yelp
Great service as they came back multiple times to check back on us. They probable came by a little too much but when I went, the restaurant was empty so maybe thats why. DEFINITELY get the truffle ketchup (which is free) because there's no better combination than fries with Umami Burger's truffle ketchup.
