A Winter Park mainstay combining refined rolls, sashimi, and robata touches. Covered by respected local food writers, Umi feels personal — owners and sushi chefs often work the room — and its fish program remains a draw.

Came here for a family member’s birthday and it did not disappoint! Mona was our server and was so sweet. Along with that, all of our dishes were INCREDIBLE and we left stuffed and satisfied. Photos of the Kaido roll, Godzilla roll, grilled veggies, and the Paradise.

Google
Absolutely Incredible Experience at Umi Japanese Restaurant! I had the most amazing dining experience at Umi! From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. Our server, Mona, was incredibly kind and attentive—she made sure we were well taken care of throughout the entire meal. The chef even came out to personally check on every table, which made the experience feel even more special and welcoming. Every dish we tried was top-notch, but the Paradise Roll stole the show—absolutely delicious! I live in Fort Lauderdale, but I would gladly make the trip back just to eat here again. Umi has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite restaurants. Highly recommend!

Google
Umi Sushi in Winter Park never disappoints! Every time I visit, I make it a point to try something new—and I’m always impressed. The quality, creativity, and presentation are consistently top-tier. Whether you’re a sushi purist or love bold, modern twists, there’s always something that surprises and delights. The ambiance is relaxed, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. A true gem in Winter Park!

Google
This establishment was a gem of a find. The storefront is small and unassuming against the various other storefronts that uniformly line the street. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting, with a cheery, attentive staff and an elevated japanese aesthetic. However, the lit-up pictures of various sea life on random ceiling tiles throughout the restaurant remind me too much of those serenity tiles you find in the examination rooms of the children's hospital, or the MRI room at Advent Health. The food was absolutely fantastic. The fish was the perfect temperature to get the full flavor and perfect mouth feel. The flavors ranged from clean and subtle to bold and fiery, with each dish thoughtfully crafted to bring out their individual flavors. Even something as seemingly simple as the vegan "forest roll" was expertly executed, packed with freshness and a combination of rich flavors you wouldn't expect from a vegetable-only sushi. The only boring dish we had was the glass of water you're served when you first sit down. I did not use the restroom, so I cannot give that a rating. All in all, I'd give this a 4.7/5, and will definitely be returning to try more items on the menu

Google
Hands down best quality sushi I’ve had in Orlando in a really long time. The portion size was perfect, pricing was fair for the quality, the restaurant was clean and smelled nice. Our server was very friendly and made great recommendations since it was our first time. The Poke bowl was delicious and fresh, and the blue fin Nigiri was melt in your mouth amazing quality. Highly recommend trying Umi and we can’t wait to go back soon.

Google
3.5 stars. Stopped for lunch on a weekend. Had their lunch special - four nigiri and one roll. Fish quality is good, but their rice was under seasoned and too compressed. We also had cured salmon - it was nicely prepared but the accompanying veggies were standard fast Asian fare. Menu seems to be fusion, some Korean inspired dishes, etc. Prices worth for the quality of the protein, execution could be better.

Google
We came here for the first time for date night, and it did not disappoint!! The sushi is amazing & the dessert moon pie was delicious as well! The owner is the sweetest, she is helping the staff and interacting with everyone. Our waiter was great, the vibes were great, highly recommend!

Group business meeting dinner. Table for 18! Fresh and yummy! Everything that they ordered for the group was amazing! You won’t be disappointed!

Yelp
SO good we had to order more!! Truly, this was the best sushi mealy husband + I have ever had! The customer service was so friendly, warm, + attentive. The food was BEAUTIFULLY plated, + tasted even more incredible. Every flavor, every bite... outstanding. HIGHLY recommend! Came here for an anniversary + will def be back! Order: Mr Krabs, Rainbow, + Park Avenue

Yelp
The service was pretty good, but the food is mediocre at best. Please note that the ramen here is more Korean-style and hence made with the curly noodles. I ordered mushroom broth ramen, which tasted quite saccharine and over-salted at the same time. The pan seared gyoza came with a couple of dumplings whose wraps got nicked off from the pan. Maybe other food is good, but I don't want to try again. It's probably a good tourist spot for out-of-towners. The ambience is quite nice. They have both indoor and outdoor seatings.

Yelp
I had a very delightful experience here with a friend for dinner. This place is tucked into Park Ave and has been around for a long time. Every time I come to eat here, I kick myself for not eating here more often! The service was really great and attentive. We ordered some appetizers, sake, ramen and sushi rolls. All the food was deeeeelightful! My favorite thing was the yellowtail chimichurri. It was so fresh and light and I could've had multiple plates of it! The sake the server recommended was crisp and not overpowering. The rolls were good but not as good as the yellowtail appetizer. My friend had the ramen and she said that the broth was very flavorful. I always forget how filling sushi can be so I recommend less is more if you're not famished or are sharing. Overall, an enjoyable evening!

Yelp
Came here with family for lunch and service and food was amazing! Service answered any questions and told us which items were not available and helped mix bowls and accommodate for the kids too. Everyone got something different and everything was delicious from picanha, bowls, and sushi. I got the firefly roll and it was perfectly spicy and filling, the bulgolgi and picanha here are also tender and delicious! Would continue to come back to try more of the menu!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Orlando. The food makes sense, but the atmosphere is the prize winner. It can be easily missed if you're driving too fast on Park Ave, but I promise you, it's worth the u-turn. My favorites are the Hamachi Kama and grilled Squid. If you love sea urchin, they have very fresh uni. Hidden gem Pictured: Uni nigiri, hamachi Kama, and moriawase nigiri

Yelp
Was not super busy on a Sunday afternoon--we had a peaceful lunch, and the staff were friendly. Variety of signature rolls and fresh sashimi, which were both really good. Definitely coming back again in the future.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant in Winter Park when my hubby and I are craving Japanese food. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is great. The lady owner is always there chatting with the diners and helping out the servers. She's very kind, friendly and sweet. The ambience is very relaxed, cozy and welcoming.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at Umi. The sushi was top notch, and the presentation and construction of their dishes were phenomenal, and the flavors were bright and delicious. Our waitress, Mona, was a treat and we loved the ambiance of the restaurant in downtown Winter Park.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Thursday while out in WP. I chose to dine outside and really enjoyed myself. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was good. I ordered the house salad and Mexican roll, as well as a glass of Pinot Grigio. Overall nice experience! :)

Yelp
I had come to this restaurant a long time ago and finally tried it again. The service here was really great. The restaurant needs a bit of an update but the plating of the food is amazing. We started with some Toro Nigiri. It was buttery and smooth. We also got the Yellowtail Chimichurri, this was really good! I loved the spiciness and freshness of this dish. I got the Godzilla Roll which was okay, I don't think I would get it again. It lacked texture and crunch. I will say that the Miso sauce on top was amazing though, I've never had that on a roll before and I want more. Overall I would come back again and try out their other dishes and rolls. I like the creativity and quality here.

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesdays night for my boyfriend's birthday. Our server was extremely helpful in recommending some dishes for us to try. We each got a miso soups, shared the tuna tataki & the gyozas. For rolls I got the paradise roll (on the specials menu) which was amazing! It had a crab salad and smoked salmon on top and had a cool smoky presentation. My boyfriend got the crunchy hako (which was slightly spicy) and he got the honey Tabasco aioli on the side which was really good! My one complaint would be that we ordered Korean chicken wings but the kitchen was a little behind, but it was a really busy Wednesday so we didn't mind we were so full by the end! Definitely would come back and next time hopefully try the Korean chicken wings (which was on the specials list)

Yelp
Date night location checked off! It was an absolute pleasure to dine in with Umi tonight. The menu was easy and full of delicious choices. Alex helped us navigate through the different selections and our server Mona was polite honest and the plates were finishing before the next one arrived (doesn't usually happen). Loved our experience. Also you didn't finish your meal if you didn't get the best part Alex's Moon Pie dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
Tremendous value and fantastic buffet. Sushi, crab legs, various shrimp specialties. Well worth the experience
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic! We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Overall, well crafted menu options and a lengthy drink selection. We loved the creative noodle entrees and sushi rolls! When we return for our second visit, my Mom wants to order from the hot volcano stone so she can sizzle her own beef. I wish we lived closer for more visits. For now, we are grateful to be able to order them on Delivery services.

Yelp
Stopped here for an afternoon lunch alone and the food was amazing! I had the spring rolls on as an appetizer and the Crunchy Hako sushi roll with salmon. The sushi was one of the best sushi's I've had! I sat at the outdoor seating out front. The inside seems a bit old and is a bit small, but the quality of food was amazing! My server was kind and attentive. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Madison T.

Yelp
I did some research before coming and had an idea of what to get, but we still asked our server and I'm glad that the descriptions lined up with our server's recommendations. All of our food was delicious and came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the yellowtail chimichuri!
google avatar

Saida S.

Yelp
Amazing service, sushi was good i got the Crunchy Hako Salmon and it was refreshing the salmon was really good

Yelp
Umi is a sushi standard in Orlando/Winter Park. Decades of good food and excellent service with that Euro feeling you get when sitting on the sidewalk to people watch while you wait.

Yelp
Came to Umi for magical dining. Restaurant was pretty full as it was a Saturday dinner. The restaurant has an ample amount of outdoor seating and indoor seating. We ordered and were helped pretty quickly, but our courses came out in random orders and not all together. Some got our entrees first and then some didn't get their starter or entree until after others had already been eating both their courses. The food was okay. The miso soup was tasty, the firefly roll was my starter and while it does mention the spicy elements, it was a bit spicier than I had anticipated but was overall still good. Next I got the Yakisoba pork belly which was good but a bit too sweet. The best part was probably the creme brulee as I enjoyed the bits of coconut at the top. Overall not bad and was an okay experience.
google avatar

DeeAnn G.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and service! Came here for magical dining and everything was amazing! Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Also had the coconut crème brûlée (not pictured) delish!! Great time!

Yelp
Came here for a quick roll while doing a day of shopping on my own on Park Ave. The place was fairly quiet and gave a peaceful vibe. The staff were friendly and quick, especially for midday service.

Yelp
Great offerings! The restaurant has a great style! Very clean restaurant and not very noisy. We had a party of six and we could hear each other from on end of the table to the other. The sushi and sashimi tasted very fresh. The rolls were very generous with 10 pieces. The 4-person platter was outstanding with the market specials and didn't disappoint. My personal favorite was the Park Ave roll, but others in our party enjoyed the two cuts of tuna and salmon. The nori (kim) was thin, nicely roasted, and delicate. For appetizers we thoroughly enjoyed the kimchi, seaweed salad, calamari, and kanpungi. The calamari tasted very fresh and tender (no frozen rubbery texture). The kampungi was very tasty batter fried chicken chunks. The kimchi was crispy and not overly salty. For drinks we had the chilled cloudy sake, which in our opinion is sweeter and has a more fruity aromatic. Desert was the Chef's selection, which resembled a baked Alaska ice cream. Overall this was a great experience. Chef Alex and the restaurant owner visited with us several times during dinner to check in with us. Whether it is a date night or a group dinner Umi is a good time. There were quite a few Korean dishes that we will have to try next time.

Yelp
Absolutely love the sushi here. It's a go to for us. The Sealantro and the 70% rolls continue to be our favorite but you really can't go wrong here. A lot of folks at various tables ordered the hot stone which looked really good but we've never tried it here.
google avatar

Yelp
I must start off by saying that our bartender, Michelle , was the star of our experience. She was extremely friendly , energetic and attentive. She was the best. The bulgogi rice bowl and fried gyoza were all amazing. Drinks were yummy and the moon pie dessert was DELICIOUS AND free because of a promotion they had. When I visit FL this place is on my go back to list.

Yelp
My Fiancé and I had this spot in our itinerary months before visiting Orlando. We had an exceptional time here! We came here on a Sunday (Dec 3) around 6:30PM with a reservation. Which can be booked online or through the phone. This restaurant was beautifully decorated with Japanese decor. The atmosphere was peaceful and pleasant. We had a window seat, looking out to the street. Our waitress(I sadly don't remember her name), was the sweetest. She provided us great recommendations and exceptional service. Big shout out to her! They have an extensive menu with a lot of sushi choices. We ordered Totoro Tartare, Waygu Hot plate, and a roll that had seared Waygu on top. Everything was so delicious. We also tried Hot Sake and Fried Tempura matcha cheese cake with ice cream. The cheesecake is a must have! No exceptions. If we are ever back in Florida, we'll definitely come back.

Yelp
Wonderful service, friendly staff, good sushi, nice atmosphere (we sat outside), would love to come back and tey more.

Yelp
I absolutely loved everything I ordered! The Kimchi Croquettes were truly so yummy with a nice kick of spice but didn't overpower the dish. The nigiri and Sealantro roll are absolutely delicious as well. Also, customer service is awesome, our server was super friendly and accommodating. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! I can't believe we've been missing out on this spot. The food was absolutely incredible! No pictures this time--we were too busy devouring every bite. Here's what we had: * Crunchy Hako Rolls * Mexican Rolls * Rice Bowl with Chicken and Steak Pure deliciousness! The service was fantastic, too. Big shoutout to Emir for taking such great care of us. Thank you!

Yelp
This is by far the best sushi in Orlando area and the service is top notch!! I love this sushi. Wish I had a photo to share

Yelp
I come here all the time with my husband because it's my favorite restaurant!!! Ray is the best server, and always remembers our order. Thank you Umi

Yelp
What can I say about Umi... aside from the fact that: if you don't visit you're not a true foodie! That's right I said it. But seriously. Although they were busy with magical dinning we didn't wait long for a table - very spacious restaurant, indoor & outdoor seating. The server was about that server life. He checked on us throughout our dinner and made himself very available to answer questions. The very best take away I have, aside from the fact that the sushi was completely amazing is they catered to my pregnant friend. Everyone knows pregnant women can't eat raw anything right? Well, my friend was craving a raw sushi roll and guess what they did ... cooked it for her ‍ I mean, you definitely get 5 stars for that! Can't wait to visit very soon!

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends thanks to Magical Dining. We loved it!! We came around 5:30 on a Saturday and were able to get seated right away, but as we were finishing, the place was definitely filling up! All of the staff was incredibly friendly the whole time we were there. It was a pretty small restaurant but with a huge menu! We tried two sushi rolls - Sealantro and Mango Tango. Both of them were really unique, which I love to find when getting sushi, instead of always having the same 3 or 4 ingredients in every roll. We had the sea salt edamame, which is simple, but was soo tasty. And then we also had the mushroom udon and fried rice. For dessert, we tried the fried matcha cheesecake. Everything was so tasty and it was perfect for a casual yet quality dining experience!! Very reasonable prices in general, and of course Magical Dining always feels like a steal. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch. First time I was at this establishment. The lunch menu had many choices. I thought about the bento box but passed because too many of the items were fried. I was happy with the Hako salmon roll I ordered. It had great flavor. Loaded with micro greens and crunchy tempura flakes. The server was friendly and helpful. Lunch for 2 was over $50 including the tip.

Yelp
We were quite disappointed with the magical dinning menu at Umi. It's my second time here and I couldn't remember my 1st experience so I came back to try it again and will probably be my last. Make sure to reserve if you're going out on a Saturday night, we made one but still waited 15 mins before we were seated. There are cute shops near by to check out while you wait. The magical dinning menu is more americanized and not authentic Japanese food, not worth the $40 for the quality of food. We started off with the miso soup and the salad. We had our entree before our appetizer for some reason. The Miso Mushroom Udon wasn't bad, it is better than any other dish we had but sauce felt too heavy for us. The Yakisoba Noodles with Pork Belly was a definite no for us. It came out cold and tasted nothing special besides noddles with soy sauce. Barely even had any pork belly, came in tiny cubes. For our appetizer, we had the Firefly and Bishoujo roll. The rolls were on the simple side and nothing too unique about it. We made a mistake and not try their popular one, Crunchy Hako As for desserts, we had the tiramisu and the mango dessert. The mango one was quite enjoyable and refreshing. However, the tiramisu was not real tiramisu, it came out frozen as if it was an ice cream cake. We took one bite and that was it. As for the service, everyone there is friendly and nice. The owner even came out and check out on everyone. Our server, on the other hand, were barley present and not checking up on us. We felt ignore because we mainly were just waiting on food or being helped. He never even passed by our table for us to call on him. We waited 15 minutes and had to reach out to other servers to help us get to go boxes and after 10 minutes of getting the bill, we had to reach out again to other server again to get our payment process. Unfortunately we came out upset as we chose this place to celebrate our anniversary and didn't enjoy it at all.
google avatar

Taylor T.

Yelp
Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place as a solid fusion sushi spot in Orlando. We had the edamame, yellowtail chimichurri, misoyaki butterfish, bishojo roll, 70% hamachi roll, mango tango roll, and ama ebi (sweet shrimp) nigiri. Our favorite appetizer was the yellowtail chimichurri for sure. The service was great even though it was busy.
google avatar

Alexandrea F.

Yelp
This is my third time coming to Umi, and my best experience that saved the place for me. I ordered the rainbow roll and the volcano roll and oh my GOODNESS! I daydream about that volcano roll now it was so good. My friend ordered the drunken lobster, the waygu nigiri, and pan seared gyoza, all which were also yummy (not pictured here)! Although we wouldn't order the waygu again as it just didn't fit with everything else we ordered. All in all, would go back! Parking: With park ave there's plenty of parking if you're willing to drive around for a bit at times. Parallel parking on the streets are free. There's a paid parking garage that is nearby the restaurant. Or for a free parking lot you can go down to the sunrail lot, but it's a little walk.
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
I placed a to go order after a long day and I really enjoyed what I ordered. I got the bishoujo and park avenue rolls. They were a bit more expensive than the sushi that I normally order but they were tasty. My park avenue roll was missing one of the toppings (sautéed mushrooms) and, as someone who prefers rolls with raw fish, I preferred the bisboujo roll. I also ordered the kimchi croquettes. These weren't as kimchi-forward as I thought they would be, but I enjoyed the sauces that they came with. 3.5 stars
google avatar

Chan'tial V.

Yelp
I frequently visit Bonsai Tea and decided to pick up something from here. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen. I was advised that the ramen doesn't come with meat and would need to purchase that as a side. So it was slightly disappointing. The egg was sitting in the marinade for too long- it was mushy, literally disintegrated. It was also salty- usually you taste hints of garlic and ginger with the saltiness of soy sauce in the marinade. The broth was the best thing about it- rich in flavor. Pumpkin cheesecake was an add on to my order and so glad for that because it was the better part of my order. I'm not giving up on this restaurant yet- I'll be back to try the sushi and hopefully that will be worth it.

Tal A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed our food and the service was great, our waiter, Ray was kind and was quick to serve to our needs. The ambience is great I am for sure coming back here.

Rishi D.

Yelp
Hands down the greatest experience and food we have ever had, should be six stars! My wife, baby, and rest of family were seated within 5 minutes! The tables were immediately set up to accommodate us, phenomenal! Mona, our server is honestly the best! We had numerous items including grilled squid and pork belly as well as sushi rolls and desserts! Presentation is Michelin star worthy! In addition, the service from ordering beginning to end was spot on! Thank you to the Owner who is truly genuine and Mona and rest of team in caring for every customer! It's unfortunate we don't have this restaurant where we live in DC! Once again, the greatest restaurant I have ever been to, thank you!
google avatar

Jaimie D.

Yelp
Located on park ave in winter park, this quaint little sushi spot is great! Sushi bar and traditional bar with both indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of menu options including specialty rolls, classic rolls, sashimi, ramen bowls and various dishes. We ordered a few different rolls for the table to share and all were fresh and tasty. Our server was nice and provided direction and suggestions on menu items. If you know the area, you know the parking on park ave is dicey, the public garage down the street is good when the street parking is full but it's a little walk. The Inside is decorated with Asian inspired decor in an elegantly tasteful manner. It's a small place so the tables are fairly close together, just something to note if you're not comfortable in tight settings.
google avatar

Rhonda D.

Yelp
Excellent from entering to leaving. Had the lobster bisque as the starter; it was so nice we had to do it twice!! Sushi roll - volcano and pro belly and grilled vegetables best ever!!! Will be back.
google avatar

Mi Yon Y.

Yelp
Great sushi place in Winter Park! We started with the Crunch Tataki with seared salmon, the crispy fried brussels sprouts and the mushrooms were so good with the yuzu dressing. The Chicken Karaage is always a must. Really liked the house made yuzu koshu aïoli. The Ceviche was just ok. We ordered a variety of Nigiri and it was delicious. Specifically the Japanese Uni, Ama Ebi and Sake belly were amazing. Make sure to check in with Yelp for a free Edamame appetizer. It was the perfect day to sit outside and the service was extraordinary!

Juan S.

Yelp
Our server Mona was fantastic, really kind and observant. Though the cuisine is, naturally, excellent, I enjoy returning here for the third time since the service is always dependably kind and pleasant!
google avatar

Yelp
We love Umi. It's our "go-to" place for a nice dinner. We have never had a bad experience there. I think we have sat inside just a few times. Mostly we like to sit outside and people watch while having a good meal.!

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday at Umi. The service was a little slow when we first arrived but it was a busy Sunday night and quickly turned around once we placed our orders. The sushi tasted fresh and loved every roll we ordered. I wish I had remembered to take more pictures before we devoured it. We will be returning soon!

Yelp
A beast an absolute beast.. incredible food. Meticulous presentation....wonderful staff...lovely owner A MUSTVTRY

Yelp
Excellent menu with unique and authentic items. I recommend the waygu appetizer along with the paradise roll. The Saki selection is also very good.

Yelp
Truly, the most delicious "spicy tuna roll" that I have had had in a very long time; and the teriyaki steak roll with the cream cheese & jalapeño's. Oh my! Amazing! We've already planned a date to return to Umi - from Tampa. That's how outstanding our experience was!
