South Reno standby favored for smaller, cleaner cuts that let you sample widely on AYCE. Cited in Reno News & Review’s Readers’ Picks and verified by steady recent reviews, it’s an easy recommendation for groups.

I was very impressed with this sushi place and it's probably my new favorite now. They had a good ratio of rice to fish that I absolutely love. All the fish is very fresh. The escalor was so fresh and savory it just melted in my mouth. My favorite is probably the jalapeno poppers. I like mine without the crab but it was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have a great menu. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. The friendly atmosphere makes it so much more enjoyable.

Google
I love the freshness of the fish. The nigiri has the right amount of rice and it’s good nice, not dry old rice. The hot food are served fresh and warm to the order. Prices are adorable for the delicious food as you watch the chefs make the rolls and delivers them. DELICOOUS!!!!

It's probably not often that someone orders tea here but if you like to have tea with your sushi I have some bad news. If you try to enjoy tea with your group they will tell you that you need to pay for more cups. I explained to the owner that tea is often shared with small cups among a party and the pot is intended to be shared. I always said he didn't need to provide me with another pot of tea but more cups. He refused.🍵 We enjoy the sushi but paying more for cups to enjoy tea is ridiculous. We won't be back. Don't open a sushi restaurant if you don't anything about Japanese cuisine.

Really enjoyed my meal here. Like others who have said, they don’t try to overload you with rice. Their chef really understands and knows how to deep fry, the tempura dishes were great. Try the side dishes as they are very good. Service is excellent. Chose the all you can eat option.

Google
Went there with the wife and had dinner since neither felt like cooking. A friend recommended it. Great call. The rice in the sushi rolls was thinner than other places, which gave the whole roll a much better flavor. They didn't skimp on the ingredients either. Jose made our food, and when we engaged him, he was funny and great company. They are all artits with the food. It is all beautiful. And the quail egg shooters were on point!

Raven R.

Google
Excellent ayce sushi. We really enjoyed the way they make their rolls smaller than the average sushi roll- less rice more fish for a really convenient way to enjoy them. The Nigiri was made the same way. Every roll or Nigiri we ordered was filled with fresh fish and made fast. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great service.

Google
My friend did All You Can Eat and I got one miso soup and one appetizer plate (three pieces of tempura veggie) and had to pay $40 - they don't offer not All You Can Eat for dine-in at Umi - WHAT A SCAM they probably had to charge full price because it's an EMPTY RESTAURANT!!!! Nobody wants to eat their NASTY FOOD in an EMPTY dining room with kids screaming and no ambience, playing random crap on the TV, so echoey THERE'S NOBODY DINING IN and you can't hear the people you're dining with. They brought me ginger+wasabi when I wasn't doing All You Can Eat and it was DIRTY WITH HAIR ON IT 🤮🤮🤮 not ordering any more food after that! It takes longer to make the miso soup than a whole tray of sushi????? I had to wait until my friend was served their All You Can Eat first, before I could get one bowl of soup - AND THEN THEY WANT A TIP ON TOP OF THAT. I came here to see what they offer for Vegans and very disappointed versus other places in town, Kei Sushi is much better or Tokyo or Hinoki or Sushi Rose or Ijji. Sometimes you go and it's an off experience, it's not worth coming back to try if they're going to SCAM overcharge and be a dirty restaurant

Google
This is a great AYCE sushi spot! The rice to fish ratio is amazing, so that means you can try more rolls without feeling so full! Definitely coming here again!

Yelp
This is my family's go-to spot for AYCE sushi in Reno! We've tried most, if not all, of the other spots in town but always find ourselves coming back to Umi. The food is good, and we love the portion sizes. The fish to rice ration is perfect as well, giving us a chance to try a lot on the menu without being stuffed with rice. The service here is top-notched! Really friendly, efficient, and attentive staff! A huge shout out to Byron and Aury, who always take time out to make sure we're doing ok!
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Service is always amazing, food is on point and I love that the rolls are a more manageable size making it easier to eat and ability to really try more rolls if you're doing AYCE. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting and Byron is an excellent host and our favorite server. Never have complaints other than wishing I had a bigger stomach.

Yelp
This is by far our favorite sushi place. The rolls are always good, the staff is always pleasant. And the overall atmosphere is very welcoming. I always refer our friends and family here. Please try the MT and the Crown roll.

Yelp
Came back for more sushi. If I am decided where to sushi, this is the place. I brought my date here for his bday and he knew nothing about Umi sushi's small size approach to rolls. He thought they were super cute and a genius idea. Less carbs, more of the good stuff, and smaller rolls=more variety to try. I can't remember names of things well so I actually have taken notes on the rolls I like in my phone. See photo for my list. The two lemon ones have my heart. We order three of them. We came in around 4:30 and had all you can eat and we're out in about an hour. I didn't love their potstickers. Too wheaty or something. I like them more chewy and translucent.

Yelp
Umi was a strong favorite for quite awhile because of the fish to rice ratio across the board and the smaller size of their rolls, but after the last two visits, there are some things that have caused me to change my opinion at this time. First, the ratio seemed to have shifted on their nigiri. While the pieces are still smaller with less rice, the fish is being sliced much thinner than before. Presentation is still beautiful. Preparation is still fast. Rolls are still stuffed. Nigiri is my favorite though, so this change is disappointing. Second, service has slipped. Table checks are few and far between, meaning if you need something, you'll have to catch someone's attention to ask, and then you'll have to get one of the staff members who can help, because not all of them have the same understanding of the operations or may not understand the questions asked apparently. Plates pile high making it a bit uncomfortable at times too. Third, food quality has also seemingly changed IMHO. Rice was tasteless. Fish was decent, but again sliced thin, so offered little flavor. Rolls arrived missing key ingredients, so their flavor was not as expected based on descriptions. I like that this place thrives and I'll still be a customer, but not as loyally and I am going to take a pause at this time. I hope this type of feedback is helpful to the ownership because I want to see them back on top.

Yelp
Good service, trendy decor, disappointing food. Cucumber salad was terrible. It still had the skin on it. The Yakiton, Gyoza, Egg Roll, and Mussels were not a good temperature at all. They were all borderline cold, like it wasn't heated up all the way. The egg rolls, gyoza and miso soup tasted store bought. The yakiton was weirdly shaped and lacked filling but it was probably the best out of all the appetizers. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were store bought too. Nothing here tasted authentic. The sushi pieces were really small which could be considered a plus if you want to try a lot of different ones. The sushi was decent. Not great but not bad. I did enjoy the nigiri though. If I were ever forced to come here again I would just get that. This place is like if someone with money and no knowledge of good sushi said "People in Reno like AYCE sushi, I'm going to open an AYCE sushi restaurant" and did it.
google avatar

Yelp
This actually is hands down the best sushi I have had in Reno. Now if I'm honest, I've had some amazing sushi around the country and of course Reno AYCE doesn't even come close to that. But for Reno AYCE, this place is 5 stars for sure. Every single thing was fresh tasting, no warm sushi (my pet peeve), and there was definitely some real creative options here. Service was great, they kept every dirty plate clear the second you took the last roll off, love that. Ambiance was pretty good too, soo many sushi places in Reno just have no decorations at all and just give mall vibes, this place had a bit of a personality to it. We will be back for sure, this is our new go to spot.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times when we're on this side of town and I've always had a good visit. One of my favorite part about this restaurant is the portion size of the sushi. The AYCE deal is great because rolls are smaller which gives you more room to try out different rolls. I would say if I got those rolls on a la carte I would be disappointed. The servers were nice and catered to what we needed. The restaurant was open and big enough for groups. I don't love that they charge like kids under 5. My daughter just turned 3 and had half a bowl of rice and 3 pieces of calamari rings and was charged $10.99. Overall, it was a good visit and will come back.

Yelp
Such a fantastic hidden gem! AYCE sushi for ~$27 pp for weekday lunch before 5pm with complimentary mini sake. The portions were perfect to try a great variety and not loaded with rice. We had a great time and the sushi was delicious!

Yelp
We tried Umi sushi for the first time based on reviews of family and since it is close to our house, we couldn't resist for a late day lunch/dinner. We entered this lively sushi restaurant on a Sunday and was seated immediately, but the restaurant was packed and the service took a bit to get caught up. We weren't seated initially with menus, so we were a bit confused on the process and what to do next . Once we got menus after flagging down a server, we went for the AYCE and just began filling out our forms as other restaurants do with appetizers and sushi rolls. Not being familiar with the rolls and their expansive menu we found several that fit our taste buds but they offer a good variety of spicier options if that is your taste. We tried both raw and cooked rolls and the nigiri. I couldn't find the menu online to try to add more details of the rolls we liked (but there wasn't one that we didn't like ).. the Big Bend. That was a baked roll that was our favorite as well as the Golden Gate. I love that these are smaller rolls, thinner cut with less rice that let you really taste the fish and lets you explore more rolls.. The calamari rings for the appetizer were a bit chewy and larger rings, but everything else the mussels to the rolls to the the nigiri was great! The food was fresh, the atmosphere was good but lively and quite loud so if you're looking for a quiet dinner, this is not your place. The service just seemed a little lacking and not able to quite keep up, and we also were missing a few appetizer items, but we just let it go.. as I got the impression every time we asked for something they were truly exhausted, and the service therefore just didn't seem as friendly or welcoming. Maybe they were just short staffed this day.. We will definitely be back and try it again as we felt they are one of the up-and-coming sushi restaurants that is top in the area.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Best sushi in town! The rolls are smaller than normal, but this is a plus! You can try so many other rolls at a great AYCE price. The staff and owners are amazing and try their best to make every experience memorable. Byron always recognizes us as regulars and treats us kindly. The ambiance is upbeat and friendly.

Yelp
I was craving sushi one evening, and a good friend suggested we try one of her favs, Umi, for dinner. Now that I've moved back, I've been on the hunt for a sushi spot I truly love--and Umi has definitely earned a spot on my list! The bite-sized portions are perfect for sampling a variety of their creative offerings without feeling overwhelmed. While some diners prefer giant rolls, I appreciate these smaller pieces that let you enjoy multiple flavors in one meal. We shared several items: Axel (x3), various Nigir, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, King Cobra, Mussels, CR7, Pisces, and Spacex (x2). Each dish was flavor packed, but I have to say that Axel stole the show for me. Umi is a must-try!

Yelp
Everything went well. They seat you immediately. Get your drinks and tray ready for you. Once we ordered they came out within a timely manner. They are also great for children under 5. They have a different price range since they barely eat anything. They decorated for valentine's. We didn't go for that, but it was cute. The rolls to rice ratio is always good. We went a second round and it was perfect. Everything tasted yummy. We love getting nigiri for just the fish flavor, but we got some rolls too and liked it. The second batch for one of them had spicy jalapeño on top. Super yummy. Always enjoy our time here.

Yelp
It's always a good sign when it's a Tuesday night and it's busy inside! We were able to get seated right away but the place was definitely full, and stayed full, throughout our meal. Even though it was busy, the staff never missed a beat, the rolls were coming out fast and our drinks were always full. The space is fun, bright, and easy to get to off longley. Now on to the sushi itself - I loved the rice to roll ratio, and that it wasn't sweetened rice like I've found at other places. I love when the rolls are smaller too because I get to try a little more of everything before getting full. I LOVED the Lemon Light roll and truly enjoyed all the others and appetizers.

Yelp
We had the opportunity to visit this location recently. It is located on Longley near South Virginia with limited parking availability depending on the time you visit. Upon entering, we were quickly met by staff and seated at our table. They do have bar seating available if you wish to do that. It is a clean open restaurant. It is slightly more expensive for all you can eat than other locations I have been, that would be the only negative I would give it. What surprising me was the size of the rolls are notably, smaller than any place I have visited before, but the flavor is very good. They have a large variety of different rolls that I have not seen in other places along with your standard rolls, we are all used to. I would definitely recommend trying this place and unless you have a real appetite, I would consider a la carte for just a roll or two.

Yelp
What a great spot for AYCE. Loved everything about this place. The rolls here are small and perfect. My favorite rolls were the Golden gate , Mojave, Vegas and the Cotton Candy. Out of those 4 , the Cotton Candy was the best !!! I am going to crave this spot because of that roll, until I'm back in town. My least fave roll was the Axel. Too many diff flavors I think. The sushi over rice was good too! Again, loved the size of the pieces. And love that this place doesn't add too much rice because that really makes the difference in taste. The appetizers were good too, but we were focused on everything else. Oh and the quail egg shooters were amazing. Also loved the muscles. Service here was very friendly and fast.

Yelp
Came here Sunday with my brother for an early lunch. They were just opening and we were the first ones in. We have been here before and we're excited to eat. We sat at the bar for quick and convenient service. I am a huge sushi snob and this place passes my test. When you order a long roll, the pieces should be small enough to eat in one bite. The pieces were perfect size. They really nail the fish to rice ratio. Because their long rolls are so small, you can easily try 3-5 different ones without getting overly stuffed and uncomfortable.
google avatar

Alicia R.

Yelp
Great spot for AYCE sushi! The rolls are small which is a huge positive in my book- you can try more of them without getting full. Each roll was flavorful and unique- it didn't taste like they pre-prepped a bunch of CA rolls and slapped toppings on top. The fish was incredibly fresh and they used generous portions on the nigiri. Everything came out quick and was presented beautifully. The restaurant is a bit noisy because of the high open ceiling, but it's a friendly atmosphere and we'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Nic N.

Yelp
When Deanna F and I first walked in we were punched in the face by Fabuloso cleaner smell, like insanely strong, I mean it's reassuring that cleaning is important but that smell doesn't really set a good first impression of a sushi restaurant. The service was pretty good, felt a bit rushed though even though it wasn't that busy in there And the sushi was OK Not great, portions were good sized and came out fast but flavors of rolls kind of missed the mark- some flavors were off and the representation of the rolls in the pictures weren't what really came out.. also we tried to express to them of a shellfish allergy and they still put a shellfish dish down at our table (honest mistake but be more careful please).

Yelp
If you're looking for a really good sushi spot that is not heavily impacted by the tourism that is plaguing the downtown metro area of Reno, then Umi Sushi is the place to go. This place is about a 10-minute drive from the Atlantis Casino area and is definitely worth the drive. The customer service here is very good. The employees are very attentive and are quick to take your order and take away the excess dishes. There's also plenty of parking around here and also to the inside is very spacious making it great for small to medium sized families. We did the all you can eat lunch which is roughly about $27 per person which is about average for the Reno metropolitan area. On the all you can eat menu they do offer a good variety of appetizers and they offer pretty much every sushi roll that's on their normal menu on the all you can eat menu. For the appetizers I really recommend trying out the calamari rings. They are very huge and they also have a nice crunchy texture being breaded in panko crumbs. Their potstickers is also very good and we also like their cucumbers salad which was very tasty. The one thing that you're going to notice is that the portions that they give you are not very huge. That makes it very attractive to try out just about everything on the menu. Unlike other places how they offer large portions, that makes it kind of difficult and you kind of have to game plan what you can eat before over filling yourself. As far as the sushi rolls, I really liked their surf clam nigiri roll. Honestly every role that we had was very delicious. Again remember that the portion size is going to be a smaller sized roll than you typically would get. But again that opens the door for you to try just about everything. Please take a look at my photos for some examples of roles that we tried today and again this is only just a portion of what we tried. Now while the rolls were very good, and the serving size was ideal, I would give overall the sushi rolls it's solid 4 stars. The sushi fish was nice and tasty, but some cuts lacked that buttery texture and taste. That's but not least the dessert. We had the fried banana with a scoop of ice cream and I had the vanilla ice cream as my scoop. They do offer green tea ice cream, as well as some other flavors to try out. Again the serving size is a little bit on the smaller size but it was perfect for us because we were just about at the tipping point of being stuffed and it was absolutely ideal size for us so it completed our lunch for the day basically.

Yelp
Checked this place out with my co-workers. Foods were good especially bite size so we can eat varieties. Service was great. The place was nice and clean.

Yelp
Hands down The best sushi in all of Northern Nevada. The culture is welcoming, staffs are friendly. You instantly feel like family the moment you set foot in. Clean, smells refreshing and The their sushi's are absolutely finger-licking-freaking-GOOOOD.

Yelp
Lunch: 11am-4pm Dinner: 4pm-9pm The first time we came to Umi, I heard they have mini sushi and I had to try them! Didn't know that Umi will become one of my favorite sushi places in Reno! Not only do they have cute mini sushi, but the fish is fresh!! The first time we came in was a Wednesday around 3:30pm and they were not busy. It did take a while to get all of our sushi and they did forgot a few things, but we just put it on the next order. We did 3 rounds of sushi with a combination of nigiri and rolls. For appetizers, we got mussels, miso soup, gyoza, and tempura jalapeños. The mussels and miso were delicious! The rolls Gemini and Umi were good, but I prefer the Gemini. We got a bunch of different nigiris and they forgot a few of them both times. Otherwise, their nigiris are some of the best in town because the fish tastes very fresh. I can try a lot of the different rolls and nigiris because each piece is so small, but it takes a long time to get your order so order more from the start. They do forgot some of your order so you will have to remind them if you marked it on your sheet multiple times and you don't get your items. I love the high ceilings and the interior is quite simple, but it works. The staff works hard because all the tables are always full and there's only 2 servers. There's a big different in the price from lunch and dinner so I recommend going during lunch. Plus you'll get your orders faster and accurately too. Definitely will come back, but I hope they improve on the timeliness of getting out orders and not forgetting them.

Yelp
Wow! What a little gem this place is. The service was amazing and I can't say enough how good the sushi was. Presentation was an A+. Variety of choices and the quality of the fish was a bonus. I can hardly wait to go back. You can really tell these people have put a lot into this wonderful little restaurant. Everything about it was welcoming. The chef was spot on with our orders. Little to no wait. Like we were the only ones there. Don't let the location fool you...run...don't walk. Get you some Umi!

Yelp
Umi is our neighborhood sushi place and I am always so impressed with our food and service when we dine here! I have been eating AYCE sushi in Reno since the 90's and Umi does it right! Very fresh fish, no rice overkill, great/flavorful combinations that I haven't had before, wonderful service and very accommodating offering reservations for any size group not just large parties. AYCE includes appetizers and dessert, I absolutely love their jalapeño "poppers" filled with crab and cream cheese, tempura fried and topped with spicy sauce. My favorite roll is the Axel which is actually wrapped in pink rice paper and has tempura shrimp, spicy crab, cream cheese, cilantro and topped with fresh mango and spicy sauce. I usually hate the "fruity" rolls, but this one has the right balance of sweet, savory and spicy! We also love the Mickey Mouse and Pikachu nigiri offerings. I'm a tuna girl and the Mickey is Cajun tuna topped with avocado and spicy crab. The pikachu is also tuna with this topping that is bright yellow and reminds me of very yummy/crunchy breadcrumbs, no idea what it is but it is delicious and a great texture to add! We have tried going elsewhere since Umi opened but are always disappointed and wish we just stuck to our favorite! Definitely worth checking out for your sushi craving!

Yelp
Came here with 4 others (5 of us total) on a Thursday night and it wasn't very busy, maybe 3-4 other parties. They tried to seat us at a 4-top, but since it wasn't busy we asked for a larger table since all of us would be doing all you can eat (AYCE) and we knew we'd need more space. The server reluctantly allowed it after getting permission from the manager. None of us had eaten here but it was recommended by a different friend. I would definitely come back! The menu was pretty standard, included a variety of appetizers, rolls, nigiri. What most stood out was the rice to filling ratio, meaning less rice and more filling, so you don't fill up on rice! The rolls are on the smaller size, but that's also desirable for sharing and having a greater variety of options. They didn't have too much unagi on the menu, which was a bit of a letdown for me personally, but everything I ate was great!
google avatar

Allyson L.

Yelp
If you're going for AYCE, then maybe it's worth it. But dang are the rolls small. We only wanted a few rolls and noted which ones we wanted on the paper. I ordered 3 cooked rolls and when they came out, I was still so hungry afterwards. If I'm not doing AYCE, I'd expect the three rolls to at least be filling. They must have lost our ticket as well because my boyfriend's rolls never came. We were waiting and other people who came after us were getting their food. After a while, we just decided to skip the two rolls and leave with just the 3 rolls. Just not a great experience for us, and so we won't be back. There are better sushi spots in Reno that make rolls that will actually fill you up.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
TL;DR Well portioned delicious sushi in an open space with speedy service Well portioned and delicious, this hidden gem in Reno passes the mark for me at least here in Reno. The rolls are not massive unlike some places and so you can order an assortment of rolls and still feel that you have gotten your money's worth. One of the things I appreciate with a lot of the rolls is the inclusion of lemon in many of them, that slight tartness can highlight the flavor profile of many of the rolls without necessarily overwhelming it. With that being said the salmon nigiri was phenomenal and fresh, it melted like butter. During their busier service times there are more staff members that take your order expeditiously. As for the space itself the vaulted ceilings and open space make it seem spacious but not necessarily intimate but that doesn't affect the food quality at all. All in all this place is a go to sushi restaurant especially if you want smaller portions to your all you can eat.
google avatar

Cora M.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this sushi restaurant and decided to try it on a Thursday evening. there was a 40-minute wait which because of the reviews I received, I decided to yield to and we were actually seated in about 50 minutes. The restaurant has about 20 tables and is an ultra modern design with high ceilings and a TV with a sports game playing. There is a sushi bar for limited seating. The restaurant was full with people waiting until after 8:00 when the flow slowed. The service is very slow. We were given water and menus right away but our order was not taken for at least 20 minutes and we waited 30 minutes for our appetizers. We waited another 30 minutes or so for our orders to be brought to the table. The all-you-can-eat for dinner is $33.99. I believe the lunch is $27.99. The sushi was very fresh and displayed on clean white plates. We were served the usual accoutrements to go with our sushi. All of the food was very good. I have no complaints on the food. But the service is very, very slow and there were probably five or six rolls that we ordered that never arrived. The mussels appetizer which we ordered came after all of the rolls and after two requests for them. Besides the slow service, the staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and the food was very good so we probably will try it again perhaps at lunch time.

Yelp
Updating review, but not much new to say. This place never disappoints! Perfect size, perfect rice ratio and each roll has its own flavor.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
One of our favorite sushi spots in town! Their rolls are small with minimal rice, so you can try more rolls and not get so full. Their nigiri is always fresh and also has minimal rice, so you can eat more fish and less of the filler. The only downside is the service. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so it gets pretty busy during lunch and dinner. Tables fill up quickly and the bar generally has open spots. Although I would recommend sitting at a table vs the bar. The sushi chef's are busy making table orders vs servicing the bar. We also have to ask for refills and the check. Other than that, the sushi is a must try if you haven't been.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
Appetizing size sushi rolls. Great flavors, only thing that bothered us was the multiple times they left out som orders during our ayce. We've been there a couple time and haven't gone back for that reason.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
Still one of my fav sushi restaurants in Reno. Service is good even when busy, nigiri size is perfect and long rolls are not huge so you can try all the different varieties. It's almost always packed esp during peak hours so get in early if you can. I tried going on a Wed night at 7:30 and it was FULL so I had to go somewhere else unfortunately. Def check this place out!

Yelp
Another successful dinner last night at Umi. It's my favorite, and I drive across town for their sushi rolls and my fix. I'm addicted to their stuffed jalapeño appetizer! Cr-7, cotton candy, and the Tahoe are a few of my favorite long rolls here! Spicy scallop hand rolls crudo/raw with green onion, and tobiko is a must every sushi outting! Their quail egg shooters are rimmed with Tajín and lemon. It's so refreshing! I love that they don't overdo it with rice! I hope my coach isn't reading this! The service has only improved since our first visit! They know me here now, too. If you're looking for a new sushi joint to try in Reno, check out Umi; you'll be so happy you did! Bar seats and tables are available for your biggest parties. Thank you, Umi staff for another great meal. *Tip: If dining in for a birthday; birthday guest eats free with parties of 6 or more. Have your I.D. handy. *

Yelp
We recently made our first trip to Umi Sushi. We decided to try somewhere new, and my daughter shared that her new favorite place is Umi!! The restaurant is really nice and clean and our wait staff was very attentive! We ordered and we were all surprised how quickly our first orders arrived. We all agreed that we enjoyed these types of rolls where they use less rice. We were able to try a wide variety of rolls without getting so full! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food was good, you can definitely taste all the different ingredients in each roll due to the rolls being tiny with an extremely low amount of rice. I however do like my sushi rolls with more rice than that. And the quail egg shooters were okay but not the best ive tasted. The waiters always seemed to hover around while we were just trying to enjoy our meal. The ambiance in there was definitely pretty mellow. I probably won't be returning due to the fact that I just don't like people hovering around me so close while trying to eat.

Yelp
My go to spot in all of Reno and Sparks to get flavor full not to much rice sushi rolls.

Yelp
Umi is the BEST SUSHI in town! Their customer service is outstanding--very friendly and detail-oriented. I've been going to Umi for over two years now, and I wouldn't change them at all. They're a family-oriented business with an amazing ambiance--clean, and always guaranteeing fresh, quality food.

Yelp
They don't offer not All You Can Eat for dine-in but don't tell you that until the bill comes I had one bowl of miso soup, one plate of tempura veggies which came with 2 slices of fried zucchini and 1 slice of fried carrot, and water to drink my bill was $40 and they ask for a tip on top of that. They gave me ginger/wasabi anyway and it came dirty with hair on it My friend got served an entire tray of sushi before I was served my miso soup. There was nobody dining in so that's probably why they have to overcharge, and why you have to sit at the bar no servers. And everyone behind the bar is serving you, like three-four chefs all miscommunicating, so they're giving out the wrong food or food that was already made and then pissed off angry at the customer because the chefs aren't talking to each other, and it's not one person taking point with the table. Even with nobody dining in the restaurant I couldn't hear my friend right next to me, it's so echoey and loud with no ambience and just random crap playing on the TV. I came to check out vegan options, and understand everyone has off days, but with scamming and dirty restaurant I'm not coming back and would recommend Kei Sushi or Tokyo any place in town that's clean over Umi Sushi on Longley, it's your last last last option

Yelp
Great flavors for the rolls but they sure are small! I guess that's good if you want to do the AYCE but I usually can't eat enough to make that worthwhile - here I probably could.

Yelp
We have been going to Umi sushi for the past 2 years and it always hits the spot. They have so many good rolls! The cacti , Amazon and lemon lite are definitely our favorites . The service is always amazing, fast ,attentive, and friendly. Definitely recommend Umi sushi !

Yelp
The building itself is beautiful. However, inside it is very loud and it almost sounds like it is echoing, and it made it hurt to hear the person I was eating with. I had all you can eat sushi for lunch and I will definitely be going back as it may have just become my favorite sushi place based on just the food. The menu was great and offered a variety of options. The service was a little slow, so make sure you have time to be there.

Yelp
I'm always very pleased after I eat at this sushi spot. It is very clean, well kept, and the service is very good. Their sushi rolls are smaller than average, so it gives you the opportunity to try more rolls than most places.

Yelp
Great sushi spot. I love the rolls here. They do not overdue the rice, nice and small. Perfect bite-sized piece rolls. Great price for all you can eat lunch $27.95 and dinner $33.95. The service is great, they are very attentive and really nice. Cute industrial decor, clean, and spacious. All the rolls we had tasted really good and very flavorful concoctions and sauces. Space, King Cobra, Crown Shrimp, and the cotton candy are super good. We will definitely be back as there were other rolls I wanted to try, but we got too full. The 503 and the CR7 are on my list for next time.

Yelp
We love coming here! The food is good, always fresh and high quality, and I really enjoy the variety of rolls. My favorite part of this sushi place in particular is that the rolls are very small. For AYCE this is awesome because I'm able to get way more variety of rolls without filling up too fast. I wish you could give half stars, I'd give 4.5 if I could, because I have very few issues with Umi. The only things we run in to are that it is extremely loud and hearing the people in your party can be tough, and the service can be hit or miss. If Byron takes care of you you're in great hands though, he is attentive and SO nice and friendly! Overall we enjoy this sushi spot and will keep coming back and recommending it.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends and service here was on point of how big our group was. Sushi was good also, and I love the size of the rolls here.

Yelp
Tried this place out for the first time and it was absolutely ridiculous! Service was slow at best. And the rolls were not that good, except for the green apple roll. Then at the end of the meal, the customer service went from bad to worse when I had an employee come over and criticize me and my 5 year old for how much we ate/had left when we got full. He told me that I needed to only order one or two rolls (for an all you can eat dinner) that cost me $56 for two people. I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER come here again and recommend anyone else that does not want to be treated like crap while paying an expensive price, also never go to this restaurant.
