"Housed within a boutique hotel, Umo comprises two parts: a contemporary brasserie in the atrium, and an enclosed courtyard towards the back of the building. The latter was formerly a monastery and is a wonderful place to sit – it even comes complete with an open kitchen where dishes are cooked over flames and smoke. Menus showcase the best of Latin American flavours, with everything from a baja shrimp cocktail and delicious tacos – the mangalitsa ones are the best – to a selection of fire-cooked meats. The service was excellent, attentive and friendly. The food tasted great, and was really giving the vibe and taste of real latin american food. We had the dorada, what was a huge disappointment. For the price, you would expect a bit bigger portion, and maybe some side, but no. It was just a slice of fish, without sides, or any kind of decorative elements. The latin american basquet, was not contained the elements of the menu. The arepas are great, tasty, juicy. Crispy where it should be crispy, and soft in the inside filled with a lot of meat and cheese. We never ordered churros, but you sure will know if anyone did. The service of it comes with yelling and continuous bell ringing. It is very disturbing during having a dinner. Over all, compared to other michelin suggested restaurants, it is not worth the hype.

It was a great experience to enjoy traditional Latin dishes in Budapest! The restaurant concept is great, we enjoy our food in their backyard seating, the open space with view to the grill, the soft music and the great service made the visit to this restaurant an amazing experience.

UMO offers a true gastronomic experience, with most dishes standing out as beautifully crafted and delicious. The only letdown was the burger, which felt underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu. Service was exceptional, with attentive staff who elevated the overall dining experience. The central location is convenient, and sitting outside on a beautiful day made the visit even more enjoyable. Where UMO falls short is value for money. Expect to spend a few hundred euros per person for the evening. If your priority is a unique culinary experience paired with excellent service, UMO is certainly worth considering.

Overall experience was great, i really think the concept of using local food to create a south american concept is really interesting. Now regarding the food, I can see that quality ingredients were used and everything was really tasty. The waiter suggested i should pair dorada which already had a sweet side with an arepas dish which was also sweet. Not a match made in heaven but separately the dishes were very tasty. The service was top notch as well. There is a big BUT in all this. The place itself does not justify the very high prices. It just does not look like a place with very much personality. If they work on making the place not look like a basic restaurant and work on the plates and cutlery I think the restaurant has a lot of potential.

I have spent my birthday dinner at UMO last night. The cocktails, wines were perfectly balanced with the food. Thanks to the bartender who has brought all the flavours, and served the drinks with love. Also, we have had lamb chops and lomo steak which were the best Ive tried so far😻 Thanks to the guys in the kitchen, who made it unbelievable for me and my friend. The team and service itself were kind and attentive, thanks to Magda and Gomes,who made my night unforgettable. I have been at UMO so many times and was trying different dishes, since they were renewing the menu,never regretted about the choice! Definitely will come back next year to celebrate my birthday again. I would recommend this place to anyone, who would like to experience something new❤️😻

We were really excited about this place and sadly were slightly disappointed. Food was quite plain, not very vibrant with flavor as you would expect to find in a South American restaurant. DJ was an absolute 10/10, definitely made the night more enjoyable. Would we come back, no, but glad that we tried it out.

My husband and I came to the place for new gastronomic impressions, and we were not disappointed :) It's great that you can find meat and fish dishes on the menu. The atmosphere is very chilled, the staff is very nice!

UMO is an absolute gem in Budapest! The food bursts with flavor—fresh, vibrant, and very well presented. From the ceviche to the Latin American basquet and tequeños, every dish felt like a trip through Latin America. The cocktails were creative and delicious, and the atmosphere was just perfect—stylish yet warm, with a great energy. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and made the whole evening feel special.
