The cheesecakes here are so good. Super soft, moist, and fluffy! They’re slightly sweet, which is so addicting. I love the original flavor the most. The pandan one wasn’t that good. The strawberry burnt basque cakes is also very good. It’s better than the original one. Parking sucks though because the shop shares a small lot with many other stores, so it’s always difficult to find parking unless you come right when they open.

The shop was clean and the employees were really helpful and nice. They had an assortment of Japanese cheesecakes and tarts. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake and the original tart. The strawberry cheesecake was airy and fluffy with a mild strawberry flavor. It was really good. The cheese tart had a good crust and the cheesecake itself was also very light and not too sweet. You can also see them make the cakes which was cool. Would go back again to try the other flavors!

The cheese tarts are amazing. The crust is like a shortbread, the filling is airy but cheesy and subtly sweet. You can taste the differences between each flavor. I would definitely go here again. When you get them fresh the filling is barely set and still gooey.

Super delicious Japanese light cheese cakes! I got two flavors, one is original and the other is Ube, I think both of them are great. The cake is light, spongy and soft. You can taste the light cheese flavor which is quite amazing, and it’s not as heavy as the New York’s style at all. The Ube flavor is very Ube! You can totally get the flavor, I really love it. You have to try this flavor if you love Ube. The size of the cake is not big, it’s good for 2-3 people to share one.

I was honestly so happy and excited to finally try Japanese style cheesecake and I was not disappointed! I tried the original, strawberry, and coffee cheesecake and love how soft, moist, and flavorful they were. I was also curious to try the basque cheesecake and that one was delicious as well. If you're interested in something small, the tarts were an absolute treat! I highly recommend this place, and keep in mind it's japanese cheesecake which is nothing like regular cheesecake.

Solidly a Japanese favorite. We didn’t much care for the product. It’s more cake and less cheese than is typically preferred in America. The Original tastes more like Angel Food Cake than cheesecake. The Coconut Pandan was a bit better. The texture was more wet with the Coconut Pandan, which we liked. Spongey. Tasty, but not really our preference. Glad to have tried this famous dessert place, but …we’re good. The store is a small and tidy operation, they only sell these little “cheese” desserts, which are all made on site earlier in the day. Just tell the courteous staff what you want and you’ll be sent on your way with attractive desserts in a nice decorative paper sack. Cute packaging, cute logo, cute cakes.

First time coming here, tried the sample of the Ube cheesecake and it was amazing. Asked for one of the mini Oreo basque cheesecakes and after arriving at home, found out we only got a partial one? This one was obviously put out for sampling because it's cut up, has toothpick holes in each piece and is missing a piece. Afraid to even try it if it was sitting out for the public, so wasted $13 for a mini cheesecake. Not a great first impression.

I’ve had it fresh in LA out the oven and you see them branding the logo but in SD, it was just sitting there. You can tell when the fluffy sponge-ness texture is deflated in the center. All the cakes are the same price except for the burnt basque. I like the size and consistent pricing. Very moist, soft, fluffy and bouncy. Ask for a punch card. It can be used at all locations.

Very good! I picked up a mini Ube cheesecake for my kids but kinda regret not getting a larger spread of goodies to bring home. This will be a regular stop when in the area. It's priced right for the quality and uniqueness.

Uncle Tetsu offers the lighter Japanese cheesecake in a multitude of flavors. They don't have any inside seating which suits the cramped and bustling parking lot. Each item was packed nicely and the baked goods were visible from the entrance. I found the traditional Japanese cheesecake to be priced fairly but the basque wasn't worth twice the price. Cheese tarts were also purchasable individually. =ORDERED= *Pandan Coconut Cheesecake: incredibly moist and soft. The pandan flavor was subtle and the cake wasn't overly sweet. The cake was easily shared between a family. *Basque Cake: so tart. The filling was very sour which overwhelmed any sweetness or char from the exterior. The texture was a bit chunky, almost overdone. I wouldn't mind paying $23 for a good basque cake but this wasn't tasty. *Cheese Tart: the filling was sweet and creamy but the cookie exterior was hard. The crust was also very sweet so one tart was more than enough. I would have preferred a flakey crust though. I would stick to their Japanese cheesecake as the quality was superb for the price. However the other desserts weren't extraordinary compared to other bakeries.

Glad to see we finally got an Uncle Tetsu down in San Diego! If you've never had Japanese cheesecake before, it's very different from regular cheesecake so just something to be aware of...it's much lighter and fluffier, and less sweet. It's a tiny store with no seating, and just enough space for a few people so I can see the line spilling outside if it's busy. The cheesecakes are already made though, so once you order and pay, they just box it up for you immediately and you're out the door within a minute or so. I've tried their Pandan Coconut and Matcha flavors so far, and both were delicious! The texture is so fluffy and leaves me dying for more. Parking can be a mess in the lot as expected with Convoy businesses, but there's always street parking. Will definitely return to try their other flavors!!

About $13 a cheesecake. Super fluffy, jiggly, moist, and not too sweet. The ube cheesecake flavor was very subtle . The cookie and cream cheesecake had a little stronger taste. All were very well done.

We stopped by Uncle Tetsu's to try out some of the cheesecake and loved the taste! The cheesecake is light and fluffy without being too mushy, and the ube flavor was light and subtle. We also got a combo of the small cheesecakes and those were also very tasty with subtle flavors. These desserts are the perfect "not too sweet" treats. If you do stop by, you're mainly there for pickup. There isn't much space to sit besides possibly outside. Service is fairly quick and you can see the bakers at work with the cheesecakes coming out fresh. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend dropping by!

Nice little shop that just opened up next to Kura Revolving Sushi bar. We had lunch next door and decided to check out these Japanese cheesecake. The store was small but the cashier was very nice. Waited patiently as we decided what we wanted to get to try at home. We settled on a matcha cheesecake. It was worth a try but my family didn't like it. It felt like I was eating a wet undercooked dense sponge cake. Just a bit different, haha.

I love their cheesecakes here! My favorites are the pandan and ube cakes! I can definitely attest to their jiggliness. I had these cakes all wrapped up in the box and in a bag and when I accidentally dropped the bag, the cheesecakes somehow jumped out of the bag, out of the box, and onto the floor :(. I was so sad and desperate for my cheesecakes I had to salvage what was still edible. Docked one star because these cheesecakes are pricy and I can't buy in smaller portions.

Fast, friendly and yummy!!! My family and I love coming here for a treat to take home to share with everyone! Our favorite has to be the Oreo cheesecake. Uncle Tetsu will always be one of our to go spots for Japanese cheesecake!

After a long anticipated trip to Japan the one thing I never had the chance to try was the famous cheesecake. Lucky for me Uncle Tetsu opened. So before I flew home to surprise my family for mother day I went and bought two cheesecakes. They are small in size and not anything close to American cheesecake so if you go into it opened minded without comparing it you will see the beauty in the skill it takes to make. These famous cheesecake has a jiggle and wiggle when it moves. The flavors are very much Japanese. In my opinion the cheesecake has more of a sponge cake texture. There is nothing short of any sort of cheese flavoring. I didn't try the original. I went with then strawberry since it's strawberry season and in Japan I became a boogie strawberry queen. Next to be adventurous I bought the pandan out of curiosity and I am sucker for coconut. The family loved it as it was light and a great way to end our dinner. If by no means will scratch the cheesy richness if that's what you're craving. Overall it was a great experience. I would like to try the other flavors to really experience the hype especially the original.

So glad that we have an Uncle Tetsu in San Diego! They specialize in Japanese cheesecakes which are fluffier and less dense than the traditional cheesecake. They typically have an array of flavors (ube, strawberry etc) but in my opinion the classic is the best! Everything is premade so it is quick in and out service. Next time you are in charge of a dessert for a potluck or gathering, this is always a hit!

Cute, tiny shop for fresh baked Japanese cheesecake. The shop is very clean, friendly bakers and cashier. Location is in between Mochinut and the revolving sushi restaurant. They have a variety of flavors to choose from such as original, Pandan coconut, Ube, chocolate, strawberry, matcha, Oreo, pumpkin spice. They have cheesecake, cheese tarts and burnt basque cakes. I bought the original, they had Ube cheesecake out for tasting. It was delicious, the cheesecakes were lightly sweetened, airy, bouncy and a great flavor. Next time I would like to try the Pandan Coconut. Once I ordered, my order was placed in my hands in under 30 seconds! They were so quick with service. I love it! Downfall is the entrance and waiting area of place is very tiny. There were several people ahead of me, I was standing outside of the shop until they got their order.

One of my friends decided to pick up a cheesecake for a dinner party here, and I decided I might as well too lol. We went on a Sunday evening and surprisingly, it wasn't busy at all. There are no seatings in this shop, it's a grab-and-go concept. The service was great! The guy who took my order answered my questions and it was so quick, I didn't even realize where he got the cheesecake from, all I remember was having the bag in my hands lol. I decided on the ube cheesecake and it was really good! Spongy, light, not too sweet, and no overpowering fake ube flavoring. My mom and I both had a piece as soon as I brought it home, and we were pleasantly pleased. I also like that a whole cheesecake was $13! I am hoping to go back soon and try other flavors. I wish they had a way where they sold slices or samplers or something though so I wouldn't have to buy whole cheesecakes at once. Parking in this square can be a pain, there's a lot on the side, but they charge you to park. I don't know the rates.

The basque cheesecake from Uncle Tetsu is one of my favorite desserts in San Diego. This style of cheesecake reminds me when I traveled to Japan on vacation and every bite makes me happy. The bakery smells delicious as you enter the doors, yet quite small. Also, the staff was friendly and had free samples of the other cheesecake flavors. All of their cheesecake are fun to bring to a dinner party our as a gift. Highly recommended.

This is a grab-and-go style bakery that specializes in Japanese style cheese cake. They have a variety of flavors. On our visit, we got chocolate and chocolate Oreo. Service was great the Tuesday evening we stopped in. There were two groups ahead of us, and only one employee that we could see. I feel like we waited less than 3 minutes in the line. The man behind the counter was very happy and quick. We're fans of Japanese Cheese Cake. This is a chain of bakeries that does a good job. Five stars for a great product and quick service. Pro Tip: This parking lot gets a lot of traffic due to Jasmine's, Kira revolving Sushi, the Moche Donut place, and other very popular businesses... you may have to find street parking.

Love Japanese cheesecake and I'm so happy we have an Uncle Tetsu in San Diego. This is a go-to easy potluck item and it's always a hit, original is my favorite but any of the other flavors are delicious. They have a stamp card! It is located in a busy complex on Convoy so be patient with parking, it's worth it! Cheesecakes are ready to go so service is quick.

I don't really get the hype of this beloved cheesecake shop but my cousin and sister insisted I try it. It's a tiny little place in the same plaza as Kura so the parking can be horrible. We've visited during off peak hours and didn't have issues finding a parking space. Staff is nice here and at times offers samples. Prices are fair at $13 per cake. This is not a Cheesecake Factory type cheesecake. The cheesecakes here are light and airy . The flavored ones aren't too strong . The oreo cake is probably the most eye catching and wasn't too sweet. I'm sure I'll order a few to bring to some Holiday parties this year.

We are a fan! Small quaint spot with very easy selections of products and flavors to choose from. Easy quick transaction. As we waited, we had a sample of their pumpkin flavored cheesecake and we cannot wait to order it for thanksgiving. We took home original cheesecake flavor, which my daughter calls sponge bread lol! She's not wrong. Japanese Cheese cake is reminiscent of Sponge cake to me texture wise. And their cheese tarts we tried all the flavors: original, matcha, ube and chocolate. We love the original the best. If you're expecting robust flavors this is not the place for you. The flavors are mild. The type of dessert you eat that doesn't make you feel heavy afterwards. We also brought home biscotti. My mom loved how soft they are. Usually when you think of biscotti from Italy it has a hard texture. So this was surprisingly different.

Staff recommended trying the coconut, happy with it. Very light, fluffy and moist. Place is really small and be prepared for parking issues. It is a very busy parking lot and establishment does not accept cash.

Stopped by to pick up some Japanese cheesecake as a gift to the hard working folks at the nearby SD family circle adult daycare center. $39 for 3 mid size cheesecake is reasonable. Pick any flavors, i got original, ube & pandan

The place looks very clean and they were super fast. I tried asking about the cakes since I had never tried them but I think there was a bit of a language barrier so they weren't able to explain. However, they were still nice and friendly. I tried the Ube cheese tart and the Strawberry Japanese cake. I'm not a sweets person so they Ube tart was a bit on the sweet side for me. It did taste like a rich Ube cheesecake though. My partner loves sweets and it was his first time trying Ube period and he absolutely loved it. Now the strawberry cake was delicious! It was very light and fluffy. It almost taste like a very moist cloud bread. It had perfectly sweetened strawberry flavor with a hint of cheesecake flavor without the cheesecake texture. My son doesn't like cheesecake and he enjoyed the bread. I will def be back to try othflavors.

I have had many Japanese cheesecake and also had Uncle Tetsu cheesecake many times. The two cheesecakes that we got this time, original and oreo, are horrible! Their appearance are nothing like before, they are so wet and has no cheese taste at all. The cakes collapses as soon as you cut them. I don't even know what I was eating! I am very disappointed. I think management and quality control should take a look at what is going on with this store. This will not happen in Japan. It is so sad that the quality has gone downhill so quick. I won't be coming back anytime soon!

If you like Japanese style cheesecake, make sure to try Uncle Tetsu. I stumbled upon this place right after they opened and my son and I have been enjoying it ever since. I've tried a few flavors, Oreo, Original, Chocolate, Strawberry and the original basque. My son's favorite is the Oreo, which I admit is quite tasty. I do like the Original and Chocolate the most. The basque is very good, if you want a creamy, dense cheesecake. I have enjoyed everything I've had here. The service is always great. The line moves quick if they have one and the employees are friendly. Make sure to get a stamp card, every 10th is free!

Absolutely divine: these cheesecakes taste like clouds straight from heaven! The coconut was so delicious!!

We had the opportunity to try many Japanese style cheesecakes while in Japan. They're known for their extremely light, fluffy, but very creamy and cheesy flavor. There's a height to the pastry and it jiggles without having to shake it vigorously. We had high hopes buying Uncle Tetsu's original flavor. The one we received was not fluffy or light at all. In fact it was so wet as if someone purposefully spilled syrup on it or drenched it with water. Essentially a wet sponge cake. Either it's old and had been sitting on display for a while or was not baked or packaged properly letting the sponge absorb the steam of the cake. Cheesetella in OC and LA is the closest thing we could find to the fluffy cheesecake brands we had in Japan.

A little dot in the wall kind of a shop in Convoy area. As soon as I enter was greeted by the team. This place is a to go only Japanese influenced Cheese Cake Place. From the variety of cakes they had a bought original one and Strawberry. They packaged nicely in their red signature box and handed me the order. Took it to the office and tasted piece of Original for my self. Is a bit different kind of Cheesecake. Is not too creamy inside but, soft and savory. This can be a great gift for a friend's place invitation gift or surprise snack for the company coffee time. Is fun to find something like this in here thousands miles away from Japan. Definitely has to be tried people....

AMAZING! The strawberry cheesecake is my personal favorite. The way the cheesecake just melts in the mouth!!! Service is quick, they are just ready to go all the time with all the flavors. The storefront is not one with seating, but it is still a pleasant experience to grab some delicious cheesecake from!

I like it but am not in love with it. I have been looking forward to making it on time for a box of uncle tetsus since they have opened but it was an odd experience for me. I came excited and it almost seems like the workers were not so happy. Ordered the original and was given the box and left. I think I had expected more of a happy bakery experience for such a cute place. The original cake itself is simple and delicious for its price. I would definitely buy a box as a gift for a friend.

I was so excited when Uncle Tetsu opened a location in San Diego. This complex in Convoy is small and parking can be tough at times, but it is so worth it. I have tried the original, matcha, ube, strawberry, cookies & cream. My favorites are matcha and original. I wasn't a huge fan of the strawberry or cookies myself, but I know some friends that do like them. Japanese cheesecake has a different consistency and texture than the typical dense cheesecake - it's a bit more on the cakey side. I personally enjoy it, but I know it's not for everyone. Each cheesecake is priced at $13 which is a very fair price and worth trying out. I have yet to try the Basque cheesecakes, but those are next on my list!

After finishing up dinner next door, we saw Uncle Tetsu and wanted to satisfy our sweet tooth! I've had Uncle Tetsu's cheesecakes before, but they were all to-go, so I was very excited to try it for the first time fresh! - PARKING - This lot definitely gets busy, especially with all the competing restaurants during meal time. There's a few street spots if you happen to get lucky! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Not a very large storefront, with little walking room. The aromas of the cheesecake fill the air when you walk in! They have the flavors displayed on the menu board as well as display cheesecakes for you to see what they look like. They also serve up a sampling cheesecake for you to try! Be careful if they put it out fresh - the cake can easily fall off the toothpick! Service was super quick - after I ordered and paid, the cheesecake was handed to me immediately! There's no seating, so it's a grab and go storefront! - FOOD - Pandan Cheesecake ($13.00): When I saw this flavor, I immediately wanted to try it! I love anything Pandan, so this was a no-brainer pick for me. The Pandan flavor is very light, but you can tell it's there! I personally didn't need the Coconut flakes on top as it took away from the fluffy cheesecake texture. The bouncy, fluffy cheesecake was to die for! It's really a texture that you can't find in any other dessert. - OVERALL - I will definitely be looking out for new flavors to try - Coffee was a close pick, so I may be grabing that next time!

Delicious cheesecakes and great service. Only complaint is the parking situation. It is to be expected for that area but still frustrating. If you are eating at any of the places in the shopping center this place is worth a pop in.

I saw that there was this new dessert place in convoy... Japanese cheesecake! I've never heard of or tried Japanese cheesecake! I'm not a huge cheesecake fan in general because regular cheesecake is just too rich and too much dairy for me to handle. I can never have more than one bite which is a complete waste of a dessert. So when I saw this place, I thought why not and see what a Japanese cheesecake is all about! My sisters birthday was the perfect opportunity to give it try! I was reading these are best when picked up fresh, day of. So we were meeting my sister for brunch and needed to go here right at opening. We arrived early prior to 11 am and were lucky they were just opening the shop for the day and were the first customers. It worked out well. Staff had offered us samples, and I was thinking it was some sort of matcha, cause it was green, but I was wrong. It was Pandan coconut. Not a huge fan of coconut and you definitely couldn't mistake the coconut in it! We selected the original cheesecake for my sister and an Oreo for us since I haven't met anything Oreo that I didn't love. The cheesecake was super light and fluffy. Nothing like your typical cheesecake which was oddly wonderful! It was almost like a super moist cake with a slight creamy texture. Oreo flavored of course! It was a complete success! My sister loved it cause she can enjoy it with my nephew without it being jam packed with sugar. Staff was friendly. Store was clean and ordering straight forward. Cakes are $13 each. Parking was easy right at opening. Thanks for the yummy cheesecake!

Happy Uncle Tetsu opened on Convoy. Japanese cheesecake with the fly Japanese packaging. The square red bag fits the box to the T with black straps.. luv the attention to detai and color scheme.. If you've never had it. To me it's like a high quality fluffy soft spongy cake. Little bit airy. When I hear cheesecake I usually think thick dense like an American style cheesecake. We picked up 3 cakes; Burnt Basque, chocolate, and oreo. All 3 were delicious. The chocolate and oreo were light and fluffy. The Basque was a little more sense and creamy in the middle. Next time we'll try strawberry and matcha! 4 stars because $23 for the Basque seems high.

Not like your original Cheesecake Factory but a light fluffy cheesecake. Probably not as "light" but very flavorful for such a light cake. The flavors, design and presentation were great. It's not super thick and light. Again, the presentation is amazing. The cheese tarts were out of stock so we have to try it again. The service was nice and cordial. Try it!

Such a light, fluffy, and creamy cake! I thought it would be more spongy but was delighted when it melted in my mouth! The cakes aren't too sweet either which is how I prefer my desserts. It appears they have seasonal flavors too so that's exciting. Parking can be a little busy depending on the hour and day but it's a small little shop, no place to sit down, just enough space to order and go. Will have to come back to try more flavors and the tarts. The staff was inviting and friendly, don't forget to ask for a punch card!

The world famous Uncle Tesu has finally arrived in beautiful San Diego, CA! It is located off Convoy in a shopping strip mall with limited parking. Uncle Testsu is located all over the world in Major Cities, serving some of the finest Japanese cheesecakes. We came in during lunch to purchase a cake and were in and out in a jiffy. They have many variety to choose from such as ube, strawberry, chocolate, and regular, but I went ahead and picked up the pandas coconut. The prices were average for a whole cake and the packaging was absolutely beautiful where you get a nice red tote bag to hold your cake in. As we arrived home, we couldn't wait to dig in and enjoy the cake and enjoyed everybite from the start to finish. We ended up just diving in with a spoon since the cake was super moist and didn't cut well with a knife. The flavor was all there and wasn't overly sweet but just the right amount of flavor to call it a dessert. The color was amazingly beautiful, with bright, vibrant green from the pandan and toasted coconut on top. Uncle Tetsu is such a lovely place to pick up some cake to share with friends and family. The right amount of sweetness and moisture really sets it apart from your typical cheesecake. Please come out here and check this place out since it won't disappoint!

I went back today to buy a few cheesecakes to see that they now have cheese tarts. I got an ube cheese tart to try and oh my gosh, it's seriously one of the best things I've ever had. It's so soft and delicious yet not too sweet. I regret only buying one because I think I like them even more than their cheesecakes. So glad I can find cheese tarts in SD now and will be back for more!!

I went to Uncle Tetsu on a Saturday evening to pick up a pandan coconut cheesecake for my friend's birthday. Uncle Tetsu had a chocolate cheesecake and a strawberry cheesecake available as free samples. Both were delicious! The pandan flavor was my favorite. I recommend serving the cheesecakes at room temperature because they harden up in the fridge if left for too long. FYI free parking in the lot is pretty tough on weekends after 12pm so I recommend parking on the street on convoy st, next to the car dealership, or behind the parking structure if you're looking for free parking.

I adore Uncle Tetsu and how consistently moist -and flavorful they are each time. We've had the Oreo which is a bit sweeter like traditional American desserts, the strawberry which has just a hint of fruit flavor but still that light cheesecake finish, and the OG. They have fun flavors like ube and pandan. They are also starting to sell mini tarts starting next week. They're also incredibly affordable for an entire cake. Great customer service, easy parking, and great quality.

I finally got a chance to try Uncle Tetsu's cheesecake. The first time I tried, they were in sift opening and only accepting Venmo or exact change, and I had neither. They had several samples, which was great. It helped me decide which cake to choose. I decided to try the oreo cheesecake. It was well packaged and had a special cloth covering it to keep it moist. The Japanese cheesecake is more light and airy than an American one. It doesn't have as much sugar either, so it's a different taste. I loved it and will definitely be back to try the Ube cheesecake. That one peeked my interest.

Definitely worth a visit. Who doesn't love cheesecake!? This style is different but still delicious. It took a second for my son to like it. My daughter loved it instantly. Parking was easy. The line wasn't long. Will be back soon.

Welcome to San Diego, Uncle Tetsu!! Thanks to the good ole gram, I saw they opened a location in the Clairemont/Convoy area of SD. Best part: it's in-between Mochinut and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar! Lol It's a quick go in, buy your stuff, and leave type of joint. Nowhere to sit, so you take your bagged yummies to go. They already have them prepared in boxes so you don't really have to wait unless there's a line. Glad there was none when I arrived shortly after 1pm on a Monday. Alexis was super friendly and they all greeted me when I walked in. They are new, but keep your eye on their IG because they started serving seasonal flavors in addition to the usual Original, Strawberry, Ube and Pandan Coconut. When I went, they had Black Sesame and Oreo. I purchased 4, 2 to keep and 2 to gift. The Oreo and Original are super yummy! Moist and so fluffy! I gifted an Original and Ube... because you know I don't do Ube, lol! The cheesecakes are $13 each and they are cashless. They do give a military discount when you show your military I.D. The shop is super small, but quick to get into, and I was lucky to park right in front of the door. The parking lot is tight, but at least you have the first 2 hours free. After that, there's a meter to pay. You can always park on the street, too. Be sure to grab a loyalty card so you can get a free cheesecake once you buy 9. I have 5 more to go! First time trying Japanese cheesecake! I mean I probably had it when I studied abroad in Japan in my college days, because the taste was familiar. We were having a dinner party and our friends brought dessert. They brought 4 different Japanese cheesecakes: original, ube, sesame and Oreo. The taro was my favorite and the original was great too! I love how airy and fluffy there are. It also wasn't overly sweet. Definitely coming back to order for dinner parties or even birthdays.

I've had Japanese cheesecake before and this is by far the most delicate one. Very light and yet soft. We tried 2 out of 5 flavors. Regular and ube both resembles the texture, however I loved the regular instead. If you taste both of them, the regular one stands out. There are 3 samples on the counter when we arrived. Matcha was one of them, my least favorite. But if you are a matcha lover, this one is for you. The matcha is strong and almost bitter. I would love to try the strawberry and oreo in my next visit. Service is quick. Paper bag is very cute and sturdy. I love how intricate the presentation of the cheesecake with logo. Parking is a nightmare here, always. Parking garage is your best option here and pay. Street parking is a nightmare. Tip: Rewards card is available here for every purchase is 1 stamp, buy 9 you get 10th free.

UHM WHY WAS I NOT AWARE THAT THIS WAS OPENED?! Just so happened to stumble upon Uncle TETSU while craving Mochinut, but immediately went straight into Uncle TETSU, cause why not?! Super friendly staff and super yummy cheesecake!

I've had uncle Tetsu's in Vancouver in the past. Japanese cheesecake. Not too sweet, super light, airy, kinda spongey. I'll try the burnt basque next time. I think I might enjoy it more since it's supposed to be more creamy.

We were excited that Uncle Tetsu was open and decided to stop by to try their cheesecake. Something to note is that Japanese style cheesecake is different from American style cheesecake. Japanese cheesecake is fluffier/lighter (more like sponge cake) and it is less sweet. American cheesecake is much more dense, richer and sweeter. I think it is important to distinguish the difference because some people might be disappointed if they go in expecting Japanese Cheesecake to be similar to American Cheesecake. The actual prep and bake area takes up most of the space. The service area is small, there isn't seating or anything. You pretty much buy your cheesecake(s) and go on your way. Service was good. The guy that helped us was friendly and greeted us when we entered. He apologized because they had run out of pandan flavor. They have four different flavors: regular, strawberry, pandan, and ube. We bought two cheesecakes, regular and ube. We enjoyed them both over the course of several days. We look forward to trying pandan and strawberry next time. The only negative about the place is parking. Maybe come during off peak hours.
