This was the Archive until it closed in the summer. The new owner assumed the previous name from years ago. Can only assume he/she/it was too cheap (using previous sign "Under the Volcano") or mentally lazy to come up with a different name. I had been a regular at the Archive (and loved it) and stopped by to see what was different. Other than an increase from most wines selling at the Archive for $9 to $11 to new prices of $15-16 a glass, nothing is new. I didn't check the food menu but the previous Archive cook was excellent so the new one will have much to live up to. Will I come back to drink wine in an empty bar for $16.00 (the chardonnay), not likely. Everything else is the same except when I came in there was one lonely patron. Sigh!
Came across this review that I posted a while ago and read the owner's response. My apologies about the name if, in fact, the old owners repurchased the bar. I was told that the Texas owners of the Ginger Man had purchased the bar. But I did look for a less expense chardonnay than $16.00 a glass and there were none and the bartender was not at all helpful in finding something affordable. Still it's my neighborhood and I wish the bar well, particularly during this pandemic.
