"Worker-owned and described as one of the East Bay’s most beloved restaurants, this spot is back in action: an Instagram post says fans can come in for dinner Wednesday through Friday, 5 to 8:30 p.m., and for brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cafe returns on Tuesday, April 15, and the grand opening is set for Sunday, April 27; the restaurant had closed last May." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Understory, which you may have known in its previous life as The Center For Subtropical Affairs, is a Little River house that’s been converted into a venue and now hosts all kinds of performances and events. Understory is one of the coolest hospitality spaces in town and will also give you slight high school house party flashbacks. A good night to come here is on Thursdays from 8-11pm for jazz night (they have a nice bar program, too). This is a great date night option or an unexpected place to take those friends of yours who only ever go to the same two bars. Just a head’s up: cover for jazz night is $15." - Ryan Pfeffer

"Understory opened in 2019 as part of a wave of new food halls in Houston." - Amy McCarthy

"Of course, 1-800-Lucky is not the first food hall to invade Houston, and it won’t be the last. The city has exploded with food halls since the first arrived in 2015 — Conservatory, Understory, Finn Hall, Politan Row, and Bravery Chef Hall are open now — and even more are in the works, including Lyric Market and Oui Eats." - Amy McCarthy

"I'm seeing Downtown’s new underground food hall Understory is slated to host a Common Bond outpost, with forum photos and signage pointing to the addition and an expected arrival sometime in 2020." - Amy McCarthy
