LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"At this Japanese-Italian fusion spot in Sawtelle, you can watch fresh pasta being made behind a glass window. The menu has bolognese, alfredo, and carbonara, but the more interesting-sounding pastas mix in Japanese ingredients like uni, curry, or cod roe. You can also top your noodles with a runny poached egg." - cathy park

Mmm, a different take on pasta and Japanese cuisine. This is fusion cuisine done right. For this lunch, I had the popular chicken katsu curry and it was just about perfect. The curry was savory and flavorful, the chicken had a very nice crispy texture and crunch, and the pasta was made fresh. It felt new but also a a dish that feels like a long time staple. The pomodoro pasta my friend had was good, but not as unique. I think going here it's best to try the fusion pasta over the "classic Italian" pasta. Finally, the edamame was well-seasoned without going overboard. A nice appetizer to have. The decor and ambiance is nice, and for lunch service it wasn't too busy, so good came out on time.

Awesome new spot in Sawtelle for non-ramen noodles! UNETTO Tokyo Pasta Factory is small and chill—best for groups of 4 or fewer. Tried the Miso Carbonara and Bolognese, and both were so good! The pasta is super fresh, and the flavors are on point. James was our server, and he was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood when you’re craving something different. Can’t wait to come back!

Came here last night at 8pm with a couple friends for my first time. I’ll say, the food was pretty good and not crazy expensive for the quality and portion sizes, but the service was phenomenally terrible. The waiter assigned to us was giving us the worst attitude- just total bad energy all night. We felt as if we had done something wrong the moment we sat down. There was a conflict with the party beside us, but I don’t know why the waiter was taking it out on us. The older lady & other waiter who helped us from time to time were better for sure. Probably would not come back here any time soon as long as that guy is working. 1 star service!

Incredible tasty pastas! The miso carbonara, chicken wings and potato salad ! A MUST stop on Sawtelle. It's a very busy place so make sure you might have to wait a bit. Terrific date night or a cozy warm pasta meal for a small group of friends. Kaz is beyond attentive and hospitable!

Google
The japanese pasta fusion dishes were mid. I was excited about this new sawtelle restaurant because I’ve been to a couple great japanese/italian fusion restaurants in little tokyo. My table got the katsu curry, napolitano, and giapponese. Everything tasted so basic. Just simple ingredients topped onto spaghetti. The giapponese tasted strongly of soy sauce to me. We also got the spare ribs as appetizer which was good. The complementary appetizer with the roe mayo dip with fried spaghetti was actually the best thing they came out with.

Seating is a bit tight, but Unetto’s otherwise very cozy and a great spot for pasta with a twist. I got the Tarako Ika Uni, and it was nice. Sauce light, creamy and a bit sweet, with fresh seafood. Mix in some chili oil and a little parmesan and everything comes together really well. I got the seasonal potato salad to start; it was a nice dish to whet the palate, but other appetizers might be more flavorful. Service is friendly and relaxed. James checked up on me just enough. I always had some water in my cup and enough space to enjoy the meal. Would recommend to any pasta lovers coming through Sawtelle!

Google
I’ve been coming here since the soft open- if you’re looking for something different than Ramen in sawtelle I highly recommend. I tried the ketchup pasta (which apparently is really popular in Tokyo coffee shops?) and it was super good. The staff were very friendly and my server Matt was really informative about all the nuance of the food. My girlfriend loves Italian food and got the Carbonara, which was actually a pretty authentic version. The chef here definitely respects the classics.

Google
I had never tried Japanese pasta before so I decided to pop in for the grand opening, I was very impressed. The food combines some elements of Italian food with Japanese flavors and it was actually bomb. I didn’t know what to expect with that combo of cuisines, but once you saw how they make the noodles it all clicked. We loved every bite. Their uni pasta is the house specialty, called the Tarako Ika Uni. I tried this and it was really good. The sauce had a really rich and salty flavor which went really well with the squid- definitely not like anything I’ve had before. My girlfriend got the dish with this really incredibly cooked piece of pork. She loved it. Definitely need to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
I came here with my family because we wanted to try something new and it did not disappoint. We got the curry pasta, they had a miso pasta that I'm having trouble finding on the menu pics and the Sapporo Soup Curry. All were delicious, but that Sapporo Soup Curry reminded me of my time in Japan when I had it last. It was a Harold and Kumar feeling that was satisfied! Our server was very attentive and kindly answered and questions we had. The place is a bit small, maybe hold a total of 20 ppl, but we went on a saturday around lunch and were seated immediately with a table or so still available. I expect this place to get popular as it sets it's roots and hope they stay for the long haul. With so many good option in the area, i think this places holds it own and a must try in my opinion. I plan yo be back soon!

Yelp
Delicious Asian fusion pasta in a casual setting. We've been intrigued by the concept since they opened, but it's only fairly recent that they've added outdoor seating and the ability to order takeout. Finally went in person on a recent weekend afternoon. Service was friendly and attentive. Child ordered the tarako ika uni and absolutely loved it - she had never tried uni before but is a big seafood fan. Husband tasted it and said it was one of the best renditions of uni pasta he's ever had since the flavors were well balanced. Husband ordered the salmon yuzu pasta, which was outstanding. The citrus balanced the salmon very nicely, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. I wish there had been a higher salmon to pasta ratio but it was otherwise a great dish. I ordered the Sapporo soup curry with chicken. I was going to get a spice level 5, but our server recommended taking it down a level and warned me that even a level 4 here was like a level 7 elsewhere. He wasn't wrong. Although I have a fairly high spice tolerance, that soup was so spicy! It was delicious, though. The chicken was tender and was accompanied by a delicious assortment of veggies. Loved their preparation of the lotus root in particular, which was crisp tender and not at all slimy. I'm sure we'll be back soon to try more dishes

Yelp
We walked by Unetto and was intrigued by the Japanese-Italian pasta concept, so decided to give it a try. We came on a Sunday evening and sat outside. The staff pushed some tables together for our group and handed us a pile of napkins and forks to set the table ourselves. It wasn't a big deal, but definitely a very casual, no-frills kind of service. We tried the tarako pasta (similar to mentaiko), the miso carbonara, and the uni scallop pasta. The texture of the noodles was good--chewy--but the flavors were a bit hit or miss. Some dishes were under-seasoned, while others felt a little heavy-handed. The miso carbonara in particular didn't quite have the depth of flavor we were hoping for. The tarako was the best of the three. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but nothing really stood out enough to make it a spot we'd rush back to. Maybe worth a try if you're curious, but probably not in our regular rotation.

Yelp
Ambiance: it's a fusion style pasta restaurant located at sawtelle area, and replaced the former soba noodle place Service: it seems they are a bit understaffed, so expect delay in service, our waiter is super friendly and provided useful insights Food: Japanese and Italian style pastas, and special dishes TARAKO IKA UNI - *** Cod roe and uni sauce, squid, nori, hard texture pasta, watery sauce and fishy taste, I could barely taste any sea urchin flavor Sapporo Soup Curry with Chicken - **** choice of bow tie pasta, spice level 5 out of 10 (warning already fairly spicy at level 4), bold and flavorful curry soup born in Hokkaido, packed with tender chicken, seasonal vegetables and spices, aromatic broth, recommend this special menu item for the unique flavors Price: moderate portions and decent quality, expect $25~$30 per person

Yelp
This restaurant took over where kaz soba noodle used to be, though it looks like all the staffs and chefs are all the same people from before. I ordered a bolognese pasta and chicken soup curry. The order took awhile to arrive but we came at a time where there was a sudden rush of customers. The bolognese pasta was very generic. Ground meat, some tomato sauce, and some cooked pasta. It tasted exactly as it sounded and wasn't great or bad. The soup curry was very unique though. There was an entire half chicken in the soup curry, cooked incredibly tender where I could rip the meat off with just a spoon. The chicken even absorbed the curry flavor as well from being in the soup. Overall, pasta was within my expectations but the soup curry was a highlight. Cost wise, I'd say it wasn't worth it for the pasta but definitely worth it for the chicken soup curry. After finishing my meal, I still thought Kaz soba noodle was better. What a shame.

Yelp
Solid Japanese-Italian fusion spot in Sawtelle. I visited this restaurant for an early weekday dinner and there were barely any people dining-in when I came. The interior was decent, but nothing special with the ambiance. I ordered the Miso Carbonara and it was decent. I liked the Al dente texture and Parmesan flavor. However, I couldn't really taste the Miso flavor. What really saved it was the chili oil that I asked for on the side. It brought more heat and flavor to the dish. The pasta was pretty pricey for the portion you get. It also seems like something you can just make at home. The service was decent as well and our servers were nice to us. For parking, there's a free outdoor parking lot nearby which does fill quickly. There's also metered street parking, but also a free parking garage at Ross and you would have to walk a bit to the restaurant. Overall, a decent experience here. I wouldn't necessarily come back, but if someone gave me food from here, I would eat it.

Yelp
Probably a 4 star, but I'll give it a 5. I got the TARAKO which was so good. However, my friend thought her pasta was salty (miso carbonara) and the table next to us wanted more sauce. The dishes were a hit or miss, and I luckily got a good dish. I will have to admit the cod roe (tarako) is the best. The sauce had a bunch of eggs, and it was perfect. So definitely when you come here, get the TARAKO! I feel like the place was a little understaffed too, but overall it is a must try! I love the fancy dinner kind of setup, and it was a cute restaurant overall. I love the idea of japanese and italian fusion. They also just had italian pastas, for those who aren't as experimental :))

Yelp
I am always excited to see a new restaurant on Sawtelle so was itching to try Unetto especially when I saw the Uni pasta on the menu. The indoor space is smaller but luckily we had no wait when we went for a weeknight dinner. Unfortunately the flavor of the pasta was pretty one note, i.e. salty. And the creaminess made it a heavy meal. Will have to try another plate next time as the folks at the table next to us highly recommended the mushroom. Parking is the Sawtelle standard with meters on the main street and plenty of free street parking on the adjacent streets. Just remember to keep an eye out for the odd blocks that are permit only, as well as, street sweeping hours.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in the previously soba noodle place in Sawtelle, it even retained the old diner's layout with seating arrangement for 20 people inside plus 4 tables outside. Since we arrived in early evening we got seated right away. The staff were friendly and promptly described the menu for us. We ordered the following dishes: Uni Tarako Ika: Japanese spaghetti dish with roe, sea urchin and squid. As expected, the sauce was on the salty side however with a unique almost umami taste. The buttery texture from sea urchin also enhanced the sauce. The aroma can be slightly fishy but not overpowering. The spaghetti was al dente and had very nice consistency. Vongole Bianco: the sauce was less brothy than traditional white wine and butter one, but still very nicely seasoned. It could use slightly less parsley though. Napoletano: if you like strong flavor, this dish is for you. The tomato based sauce was creamy and slightly sweet, with a nice blend of bacon and onion. Miso Carbonara: the sauce was also creamy but not heavy, and with only a hint of miso. The portions were on the small side but acceptable for the price and location.

Yelp
Really nice customer service, I accidentally ordered an incorrect clam pasta instead of the clam appetizer and the server was very understanding Overall many of their dishes were a little too salty for my taste, but my favorites were the yuzu pepper salmon and the tarako!! I think it's having some form of citrus that balanced it out The broth for the dashi clams and the french fries were also both too salty for my taste, but surprisingly they were still really good The japanese fusion pastas are more their specialty but I'd love to come back and try out the italian pastas like the vongole, it'd be really cool if they could incorporate some type of jap fusion risotto

Yelp
First time at Unetto Tokyo Pasta Factory and we're so happy we dined here and tried their delicious dishes. We visited on a Sunday afternoon around lunch time. When we arrived we were seated right away. Great customer service from beginning of our experience until the end. Unetto Tokyo Pasta Factory has a very modern and inviting set up. Medium sized eatery with tables and chairs inside as well as outside. Our food was brought to our table within 15 to 20 minutes of ordering. Our waiter Andres was great and attentive. He provided excellent customer service consistently. Our family of 6 ordered the following Calamari as appetizer, 2 Cream of Chicken Pasta, Tarako Ika Uni, Giaponese, Aglio e Olio and Chicken Katsu Curry. All the dishes were very tasteful and flavorful. All meals were prepared and cooked fresh from stove and grill to our table. The Cream of Chicken Pasta has just the right amount of cream. The chicken was tender and not overcooked. Tarako Ika Uni (cod roe and sea urchin) and Giaponese was our favorite. It's tasteful and perfect. We definitely can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

Yelp
This used to be Kaz the Soba Place. Now it's Japanese pasta. We came around 3pm and received super quick service. They close from 3:30-4:30pm. Our food came out in 5-10 minutes. The uni pasta ($28) was creamy and delicious. The yuzu salmon pasta ($19) was also pretty good. The fried chicken ($7) was just okay since it came on the darker almost burnt side. It was overall good and I'm glad we tried it!

Yelp
I was really excited to see this place open and the food lived up to that excitement. One of the first highlights was the waiter! I didn't catch his name, but he had a great energy and seemed genuinely happy when answering our questions. We were able to get seated right away outside as it was a bit chilly, but the heaters were perfect. Appetizers: Potato salad and chickpeas - the potato salad was a little fishy to my friend, but I found it delicious. The chick peas were underwhelming and felt like they just opened a can. Would not get them again. Entrees: Chicken katsu curry pasta - it was a tad spicy and the curry had incredible flavor. It is pretty heavy because of the pasta and giant piece of chicken, but was perfect for leftovers. Tarako Ika Uni pasta - it was amazing. Creamy tasting, but super light. I loved it so much I ate the whole thing and the servings are generous. I will say, I couldn't really tell if there was uni in it or if it was blended in, but the pasta was delicious.
google avatar

Kirsten C.

Yelp
This place was super underwhelming, super disappointed. The potato salad was frankly disgusting. I love Japanese style potato salad but this was done all wrong. The wings were super mid, tried both flavours, we were underwhelmed. The miso carbonara is super bland and I would not reorder, and I could barely taste the uni flavor in the uni pasta. Real let down, and was puzzled this place has such great reviews, definitely would not eat here again. I love Italian/Japanese fusion but this place was just not it.
google avatar

Yelp
I miss the old Kaz Soba. Unetto is fine but not quite as great as Marugame Monzo in Little Tokyo that also has Japanese Italian fusion menu items. If you're craving flavors like Miso Carbonara, then Unetto will hit the spot. But personally, I think the flavor is still work in progress (rather than highlighting the Japanese and Italian flavors, both are a little watered down), especially for the price which is pretty steep. Service is also pretty slow - they may be understaffed.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night and waited about 15 minutes to get seated at a table inside. They had tables readily available on the patio, but it was cold outside, so I opted to wait for indoor seating. Once seated, the service was pretty slow. It looked like they only had 3 people in the kitchen. We waited for almost 30 minutes for our order. They're a newly opened restaurant though, so it wasn't too big of a deal since I'm sure it'll take them some time to work out the kinks for a smooth operation. All of the staff were great and friendly. I got the Miso Carbonara and the Uni pasta. I was a little disappointed with the Miso Carbonara because it wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting. Instead of guanciale, ground pork was used which I wasn't a fan of since it didn't have the saltiness from the guanciale to cut through the creaminess of the meal. The ground pork added a sweetness that made the dish feel very one note with nothing to complement it. The uni pasta was much better. It was creamy and had a lot of umami from the uni. I got it with extra uni, so I can't speak to how flavorful the dish is without the add on, but with the extra uni, it was delicious. I would return to get this dish.
google avatar

tiffanie l.

Yelp
This place has all the Japanese style pastas you could ever want. The tarako uni is to die for. Get the extra uni with it. The portions and generous and the orders come out quickly. Make sure to stop in the next time you're in the sawtelle area.
google avatar

Trinny T.

Yelp
I came at 11:30am and was served right away with water. They also refilled water sometimes. The spare ribs look burnt. They came out very fast though. They are delicious but not too flavorful. My tarako ika uni is basic. I feel like I can make this at home. The amount of squid was alright. The flavor was faint. I could barely sense the uni in it. Overall service was good. But I wouldn't come back here.
google avatar

Anna Q.

Yelp
not the best italian fusion in LA by a long shot.. service is prompt and fast, but the food was very subpar. not sure if i just ordered the wrong dish, but the giapponese tasted like a meal i would whip up in college with random ingredients. honestly, it was fine but it's not worth paying for because you could totally cut up a bunch of vegetables and some farmer john's bacon, boil some spaghetti noodles and call it a day. i appreciate the effort and the portion size was acceptable but overall, there's not much that i would come back to this establishment for. my friend's order was slightly better, but still nothing to write home about.

Yelp
Saw this restaurant on TikTok and came to check it out on a Wednesday dinner time. To my surprise, the restaurant was full and we had to wait a bit before being seated. Our server gave great service and always had a smile on his face, despite being the only one working on a busy night. Tarako Ika Uni - The sauce was super watery with no trace of uni at all. The flavor was practically nonexistent, and for $23, I was expecting something much better. The seafood seemed frozen and the noodles tasted like boxed pasta from the grocery store. Giapponese - wasn't as disappointing as the Tarako Uni, but it still lacked much needed flavor Calamari - definitely blindsided me. It looked more like frozen mini chicken nuggets. The oil from the calamari completely saturated the paper it was served on, making it a bit off-putting. Overall, I was really hoping for a more flavorful experience, but unfortunately I will not be returning. You can find way better japanese pasta in Torrance.

Yelp
So excited to see a Japanese Italian pasta place open on Satelle (no more trekking down to Pasta e Pasta by allegro in little Tokyo). Went in for Saturday lunch and didn't have to wait long to be seated. They seem to be changing up their menu slightly as the waiter didn't have answers for some of our questions but was able to clarify after talking to the kitchen. We ordered: Tarako ika uni with additional uni $5 -- this was our fav, great uni flavor and ,for $5 you get a 2-3 small pieces of uni. Pasta also perfectly cooked Chicken Katsu curry -- my second favorite, they put some additional herbs/spices in it so it's got a kick to it that elevates the sauce Giapponese -- pretty good but I like saucier pastas so the other two surpassed this one

Yelp
First time here and it was a nice experience! Its in Sawtelle so the location is great for walking to different eateries and sweet shops. Its all street parking so that can he challenging but definitely easier on Sundays. Just takes time. I like the design of the interior. Jazzy mood music was playing throughout, which went well with the design and chill atmosphere. It has an open kitchen area so you can see them cooking. There is also a small outdoor area. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. Nice bit of spiciness. Interestingly there is a slight sweetness to it. I would prefer it less sweet but its still really good. We also had the calamari. It was served in small balls vs rings and was good but the portion was really small. It did have a unique taste to it, in a good way. Staff was very friendly and our server was happy to check on our food allergies. Much appreciated! Thank you!

Yelp
Was very excited to try this new restaurant on Sawtelle! They focus on pasta dishes that offer a Japanese/Italian fusion twist. Honestly everything on the menu looked mouthwatering and I will definitely go back to try other items. My friend and I split Edamame, Chicken Katsu, and 2 pasta dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The portions are decent and we each had enough to take home. I was impressed with the freshness of the pasta and really loved the taste of the sauces used. We ordered the Mushroom Japanese Style and Pesto based dishes. Both were really good but the mushroom was a bit hit for me as I love mushrooms and felt the nori really complemented the dish. Food wise I would give 5/5 stars, however had to knock off a star because the service was very slow (we waited almost 45 mins to get our food) and the waiters weren't very attentive to refill our drinks and forgot to bring extra plates when we asked. Since they are new I'm sure they are just working out the kinks and I will still come back to try additional dishes.

Jaimie L.

Yelp
I came back for another round and tried the tarako ika uni (cod roe, squid, and uni) pasta this time. The sauce was light, full of seafood umami flavors from the roe, and slightly creamy from the uni. That said, the sauce was very thin, and I prefer a sauce that clings to the pasta. Halfway through, I squeezed in the lemon and loved how it brightened up the dish and complemented the squid. My friend ordered the miso carbonara, and I snagged a bite. It tasted the same as my previous review, but I noticed they now top it with crispy bacon bits. I appreciate that they may be incorporating feedback from customers, especially since they're a new restaurant. Overall, I appreciate the fusion flavors, but the sauces can be hit or miss, since my pasta seemed to be more watery compared to other reviews.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday and then Thursday the same week! Really enjoyed the food. All the pasta here is made in an open kitchen. First time I tried the vongole and my gf had the uni pasta. You don't get a lot of extra uni for 5 dollars but it's still decent. All the pasta is al dente and has great taste. Also highly recommend the spare ribs! Very crisp and tender. Great flavors as well. If you're around Sawtelle and looking for Japanese pasta I highly recommend it. Portions are good to share and for yourself! When I came in Monday it was no wait and then Thursday at 8:15 also no wait but it looks like it gets busy during regular hours. Enjoy!!

Yelp
It's good spaghetti, but very expensive for the portion. It's way more expensive than Spoon House in Gardena for pretty much the same size. The Tarako Ira Uni, which contains uni and squid, had very few squid pieces, and it was $23. The spaghetti itself is cooked to have a somewhat al dente texture, and the flavor was pleasant without being too strong. One plate isn't that filling, so we got a side as well. We tried the calamari, and this was way too salty. It also didn't really have the texture of the typical calamari, but it was more like a hybrid of korroke and takoyaki, which I found a bit unusual. Not sure if I see myself coming back when I'm in the area again. It's good spaghetti, but not good value.

Yelp
The service was fantastic they are so sweet. The ambiance is very chill, very nice. The food is alright, it's not exemplary it is not bad, it's just okay. We didn't finish our food, we didn't take it home either. We got the mushroom Japanese pasta and the Tarako Ika Uni (Sea Urchin).

Yelp
Unetto is a new spot in Sawtelle, offering Italian-Japanese fusion dishes. We split the chicken katsu to start - it was reasonably crispy and came with a nice mayo and roe dipping sauce. Then we got the Giapponese ($17.50) and the Tarako Ika Uni ($22.50). The Tarako Ika Uni consists of a big plate of spaghetti dressed with a sea urchin sauce, then topped with squid, cod roe, and a generous serving of nori strips. It was quite tasty, but the sauce was very thin. As a result, much of the delicious flavor was left behind on the plate. I wish they served the sauce a little thicker and/or added some bread to sop it up. Unetto is a nice, casual place to grab a bite, but it definitely faces stiff competition with all of the nearby Sawtelle stalwarts.

Yelp
Food: 5 stars What an interesting concept! We love coming here to try all the pasta dishes. So far, the favorites are the meatballs + mushroom curry and the chicken katsu curry. We're excited to try more. If you go for lunch, they offer a complimentary salad and tea. Both yummy. Yay! Service: 3 stars This is where we get confused. They have an exceptionally friendly and professional waitress. We've been there at times when she has 5 tables on her own and she gives A+ service to all. The last time we went, two waiters were there. One was very friendly and helpful. The other ... was possibly having a rough day? He spent his time scratching the living daylights out of his hair (even as he went to pick up lunch orders from the food line), picking at his ears, leaning over and looking irritated, didn't say much to anyone at the tables, etc. Thankfully the other waiter was the one to grab our food to bring to our table. We gave them a 4 because aside from the one waiter, we've had a pleasant experience. The food has been consistent, the restaurant clean, and the concept intriguing.

Yelp
Since the closure of Hamaya where I used to order Uni Pasta, I've been really looking for a place that will give me the same satisfaction. So when i saw this restaurant changed from the Soba to a pasta place I got so excited. The Torako Uni was soooooooo good! I've been going since the soft opening and have gone 3x already. Just go and try it - it's truly my favorite place on Sawtelle right now!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy compared to all the surrounding restaurants. The hostess/waiter told us that it would be a 30-40 minute wait so we put our name down and walked around Sawtelle. We came back in about 10 minutes to wait outside the restaurant. However, we saw them seating other people who just showed up. We went up to the hostess to ask if our name has been called yet and he said he called us but we weren't here. That was a bit frustrating because he told us 30-40 minutes and we only walked away for like 10 minutes. There seemed to be a table they weren't using that they let us sit in because he grabbed a chair from outside for us. After we sat down and ordered we waited about 20 minutes for the food probably because they cook the pasta in small ish batches. I did appreciate how the owner came out to apologize for the long wait. I ordered the Japanese Mushroom Pasta and my fiancé ordered the Alfredo. I enjoyed the mushroom pasta, it was very light and flavorful. The pasta was perfectly al dente. My fiancé said that the Alfredo was too watery. The flavor was there but there were only like 2 pieces of chicken. TDLR; food is worth trying but there is room for improvement with the service as they are new

Yelp
The miso carbonara had a silky and flavourful sauce that clung to the spaghetti well. Really liked the strong miso flavour and the perfectly cooked pasta too. However, using ground pork instead of pancetta/bacon for a carbonara was a little strange for me. The yuzu salmon pasta was very dry and bland in comparison. The yuzu flavour was very subtle, and the salmon pieces and spaghetti were too dry. Service was great and restaurant was clean.

Yelp
Service is quick to sear you and friendly when taking your order. Inside is cute overall just very simple! Pasta was nothing special, it was a very light flavor.

Yelp
There are some spots that just stick with you--Unetto is one of them. It's no wonder this Sawtelle / Little Tokyo standout has been blowing up all over social media. Their Japanese fusion pastas blend the best of Italy and Japan to create pure harmony on a plate--and now they've dropped a new limited time menu you NEED to try. Start with their limited-time-only, new apps: Potato salad that'll convert even the skeptics (crispy garlic + bacon + Japanese mayo = magic) Miso-glazed wings in spicy or non-spicy--both hit, but I actually preferred the non-spicy! And ofc the pasta lineup: Miso Carbonara - a lighter, umami-packed twist with 3 kinds of miso Yuzu Pepper Salmon - zesty, aromatic, and my personal fave Uni Cream - creamy uni heaven that'll convert the texture-shy Craving something classic? Their meatballs in red sauce (beef + pork) are like a hug from nonna. Unetto Tokyo Pasta Factory 2047 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, CA Get there soon--these specials won't last forever!

Yelp
Unetto Tokyo Pasta Factory delivers a delightful twist on pasta. Standouts like tarako uni and curry katsu spiced up with Japanese flair hit the mark. A bit pricey, but for a bold, umami-rich pasta adventure in L.A., it's a solid go. I love the service and the ambiance feels very relaxing

Yelp
I visited this place with a couple friends and we thought it was decent. We liked that the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, but we wish each dish had more flavor. The flavors are all very promising, but extremely muted. The biggest disappointment was the french fries which lacked any flavor at all. As someone who is usually very sensitive to sodium, I couldn't taste any of the truffle salt at all.

Yelp
I loved the pasta here/ they are serving some delicious Japanese Italian fusion food here. I love their pasta from their classics to their more experimental ones. The service here is very good and the waiters make sure you are taken care of. They were on top of it despite the busy hour I went. They were so nice and the ambiance was very nice and casual. Although busy, they were able to accommodate their customers and get us our food on time. I have been here 3 times and I honestly can say it's my new fav in Sawtelle.

Yelp
Ugh, what a disappointment :( the food was just not good.. calamari was small and not like traditional calamari. Chicken katsu curry was salty. Tarako ika uni barely had any seafood in it. Highly recommend going elsewhere on Sawtelle - not worth the wait or the social media hype!

Yelp
Food was okay. We ordered the carbonara pasta and the uni special pasta. Both weren't all that great. The uni pasta was lacking in that uni flavor. The carbonara pasta tasted a bit better. What did throw us off was that it has bacon in it, but they gave us one big long strip in addition to some smaller pieces in the pasta. It was just weird seeing the long piece. They also don't serve alcohol which is fine.

Yelp
Food was great, price was reasonable, and staff were nice! Good addition to Sawtelle!

Yelp
It's fine... was curious to see a new place pop up in Sawtelle. Takaro Uni flavors were on point. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Really wished there was more cod roe or even a tiny piece of Uni. A teensy tad bit salty, but overall flavor was enjoyable. Calamari honestly was really disappointing. Breading felt heavy, sauce had no flavor, felt like I was eating rubber. Servers were optimistic and helpful, checking in throughout. But unfortunately would not come back as it wasn't memorable.

Yelp
Really didn't live up to expectations. The sauce for the Tarako Uni was so incredibly watery. It didn't cling to the pasta, and the whole dish tasted bland. Couldn't even tell there was uni in the dish at all. The vongole con basilico was a little more flavorful, but not something I would return here for.

Yelp
Amazing Unetto ! Second chance surpassed our expectations. From the warm welcome to the delicious food. The chicken wings are perfectly crispy, the potato salad a MUST ( especially if you love Kewpie) miso carbonara, and torako ika uni pasta was delectable ! Kaz the owner went above and beyond! James was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
This place was pretty yummy I have to say! I definitely recommend getting the spicy chicken katsu pasta. I was sold because it was one of the two fusion pastas that were spicy and it was definitely worth it! I wasn't sure what to expect but the pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce had just the right amount of kick to it! It was like a chicken katsu curry fused with like an arrabbiata kick to it! Super yummy and I would definitely get again. When we came in around 6pm this place was still pretty empty but it filled up by 7:30pm so I would recommend coming early. Definitely a good vibe overall. I also got the spare ribs because I noticed a bunch of folks around getting them but I would pass on these next time -- they definitely looked better than they ended up tasting.

Yelp
I was excited to try this japanese/italian fusion however it was just okay. I do think the tarako pastas were the best out of everything we ordered. tarako, tarako uni, giapponese, japanese style clams pasta, and side order of meatballs. The tarako and tarako uni were well seasoned and provided a nice amount of sauce for the perfectly cooked pasta. Definitely something to try and the dish to get. The giapponese was good, lighter on the salty level but enough from the bacon. Then the japanese style clams could use some work - the dish needed the natural sweetness and saltiness from fresh clams, it was pretty much some parsley/shiso pasta with some tiny clam meat (lacking flavor and salt lol). The meatballs were sad. It said it was a pork/beef mixture however it dry and falafel-y. And they were quite small (like size of ikea meatballs). The service was good and attentive, and the food came out fairly quickly (we went during lunch on a Saturday).

Yelp
This place is extremely mid for extremely high prices. Not sure if I'm missing something or I came on an off day but I was whelmed. Had the wings, pomodoro, and mentai cream. Midoh across the street serves these dishes too, is better and cheaper. This location seems cursed, the restaurants here never thrive to greatness. (Was previously Kaz Soba Noodle, Lemonade, and a Pizza spot before that. Service was top tier tho.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Japanese Italian fusion and Pasta e Pasta by Allegro in Little Tokyo, so it's nice to have an option on the westside! Based on the server's recommendation, I ordered the carbonara and my friend ordered the Japanese style clams. - Carbonara: I really enjoyed this! It's lighter on the egg and cheese so it's less creamy in texture which really highlights the tender, flavorful bacon, pepper, and perfectly-cooked pasta. - Japanese Style Clams: This was good too, but I definitely preferred the carbonara. This tasted like a lighter, herbaceous aglio e olio with clams. We arrived on a Thursday late afternoon around 5:40 PM and were able to get seated immediately. Seating is limited, yet didn't feel cramped. A line had formed by the time we had finished eating, so I would suggest going earlier than later!

Yelp
First time here and James provided prompt and attentive service! Got seated right away. Food came out quick and was very fresh. What we ordered: -- Spicy spare ribs - good kick of flavor -- Calamari - crispy and not rubbery. the yuzu aioli accompaniment was so bomb -- Meatballs - if Costco meatballs are a 10 this is an 11 -- Bolognese pasta - made with a tender short rib style meat vs a traditional ground beef and tasted great -- Chicken katsu curry - classic and nostalgic flavor -- Carbonara - creamy goodness
