Union

Is a central train station for LA City. Located in the heart of the city with easy access to freeways 101 and 110. The Union station is the main terminal for Metrolink as well as Amtrak both of which connect North up to Santa Barbara and South up to San Diego. It is very well maintained and clean, plenty of security staff as well as several information booths and kiosks to guide passengers. There are several quick bite joints, juice bars, and coffee places. Paid parking is available for both short and long-term. As of November 2024 the short-term parking rates are $2 for every 15 minutes with an $11 maximum day rate.

This is truly a monument of beautiful architecture. They keep it. The place is in excellent condition. The waiting area is barricaded off and you can only get in there if you have tickets. There is a café in there as well as a Subway Sandwich Restaurant. The building dates back to the 1930s and is on the registrar of historic places. There’s even a piano where people were playing classical and jazz music. The only negative is it’s in a bad area and sometimes there are bums and homeless people loitering around the area or walking through. Amtrak police keep pretty good tabs on that.

Union station is iconic and beautiful in its art deco style. The murals, fountains, tiled floors, arch east openings… The beauty it was in its day still is there today! Right now it’s decorated for Christmas with huge trees, wreaths. Even the seats are beautiful to look at and sit in.

This has a grand design. It’s beautiful in outlook and highly functional in design. You will love it.
