I want to give a huge shoutout to Tim at the front desk because he is truly awesome. Every time I’ve interacted with him, he’s been friendly, patient, and genuinely happy to help. Today he went above and beyond to help me get my packages, and he made the whole experience quick and stress-free. What stood out the most was how thoughtful and attentive he was—not just with me, but with everyone who walked in. You can tell he really cares about residents and takes pride in making this place feel like home. Interactions like this remind me how great the staff is here, and Tim is a perfect example of that. Thanks again, Tim—you’re the best!

Hey, I don’t write reviews often—only when someone truly has that special sparkle that gets through to me. I genuinely hope this establishment understands how much Tim at the front desk has improved my experience here. There’s nothing that makes me want to stay with a company more than being greeted each day by someone who is kind, warm, and genuinely dedicated to helping residents. Tim is always ready to assist with anything I need, and he does it with such enthusiasm and care that it honestly makes a difference in my day. Tim is quite the charismatic, thoughtful, and unbelievably attentive professional, and he has shown me—time and time again—that The Union on Knox is worth sticking with because of the incredible people who work here. I would just like to say that I truly enjoy living in this apartment—my time here has been exceptionally pleasant. Every morning, I wake up and am greeted by the pearly-white smile of Timmy at the front desk, and it genuinely sets the tone for my entire day. His kindness, positivity, and effortless warmth remind me that there is good in the world and that hard-working, thoughtful people still exist. Timmy has honestly restored a bit of my faith in humanity. He makes me feel like there’s always something worth smiling about and that no matter what kind of day you’re having, there’s someone out there who genuinely cares. It’s rare to meet someone who can brighten your day just by being themselves, but he does exactly that—consistently. The service here has been fantastic, and I truly have no complaints. With people like Timmy at the front desk, this place feels more like a community than just an apartment building.

I don't normally write reviews, but I wanted to highlight one of your front desk employee's kindness, Tim. While visiting a friend in the Union, Tim assisted me with directions and remembered my name upon leaving the buildling to ask if I found my friends apartment alright. I really appreciated this attention to customer service and I sincerely wish more apartment buildings in this area were willing to deliver the same level of service to their residents and visitors.

I visited Union recently even though I don’t live there, and Mathias at the front desk was incredibly helpful. He went out of his way to answer all of my questions and made sure I understood everything about the building. He was patient, welcoming, and made it super easy for me to find my way around. It’s rare to find someone so professional and genuinely friendly.

Wow - safe to say i am blown away by the customer service at this apartment complex. Right as I walked in I am always greeted with a smile and warm welcome from Tim at the front desk. He never hesitates to ask if I have any questions and helps assist me when needed!

I visited Union and was really impressed thanks to Mathias at the front desk. He was patient, knowledgeable, and helped guide me even though I’m not a resident. He made the building feel inviting. Union is lucky to have him!

I came to the Knox this weekend for my friend and the place and staff was great. I was lost and confused at the lobby but the guy in the front counter (I believe his name was Mathias) guided me to my friend’s apartment. That employee was really the reason why I had such a pleasant experience. He was kind, and patient making it very clear and simple to understand.

As a college senior, this was the worst apartment experience I had. When my roommates and I signed the lease, we were told we'd be in a large corner unit with a view of campus and that was the only reason we signed. Weeks later, we noticed on the website that the floor plan names had changed, and it turned out we were actually signed for their smallest unit type. No one ever notified us and we only found out by checking online ourselves. When we brought it up, management told us to "look at the lease" and claimed the square footage was the same as the square footage on the smallest plan on the website. But the leasing agent had clearly advertised a completely different layout, which now matched a different floor plan on the site. The only thing they offered us was an early move of 2 days for free, which was none of us even wanted to do anyways. Whether it's illegal or just unethical, it felt like we were bait-and-switched. We were also told electricity bills would be comparable to our previous apartment. In reality, we were charged around $100/month each (4 of us, so $400/month total) for a tiny unit we kept at 70 degrees. Every other complex with bigger apartments around was averaging $30/month or less per person. This electricity bill is not including trash, sewer, and other fees that add up to be around $50-75 a month too (which is also insane because my past apartments it was 1/4 of that). We could've stayed in our old, nicer apartment for the same price with all these overpriced utility charges but we thought we were getting the same thing for cheaper. Huge mistake. Trash rooms were locked on weekends, so garbage piled to the ceiling and the smell was awful especially in a college town where people party every weekend. It was genuinely disgusting and felt like a health hazard. During finals week in fall semester, we had a false fire alarm at 4 AM, with no follow-up or explanation. Bottom line: this place is full of misleading advertising, overcharging, poor maintenance, and zero accountability. Do yourself a favor and live literally anywhere else.

Review: Not Recommended - Unfair Charges and Poor Practices This company has been a complete rip-off. We moved in on September 1st, but the lease wasn't even signed until September 20th--yet they're still charging us for the entire month of September. On top of that, they added an unexplained $250 in extra charges to our rent. The lack of transparency and unfair billing practices make this place one I definitely do not recommend.

I would give it zero stars if I could. This place is the most mismanaged, unprofessional and incompetent complex I have ever dealt with. They never answer their phones. They never return messages. Even their emergency repair number says it has not been set up yet!!! When my daughter moved in last fall, the FOB security for the elevators did not work for over two months, the mailboxes were not set up and no one ever was at the security desk. In fact, this building was known around campus as the place to go hang out and use their facilities even if you did not live there since you can just walk in. When you do speak to a person, they are un-informed and downright obnoxious. I guess that follows from corporate as it is impossible to get in touch with someone at corporate to complain. I have been trying to find out when my daughter's apartment transfer date is for over a month and whether or not she has a parking spot. I have received not one call back or any information except an email that says once you are notified you have 24 hours to transfer belongings out of the unit. We live three hours away from campus and have jobs. They just expect us to drop everything? If you are even remotely thinking or renting her, do yourself a BIG BIG favor and keep on walking, this place is absolutely atrocious!!!!!

I've loved living in the Union this semester! The location is great, amenities are always clean and accessible, and the resident staff are super helpful!! Tara has been able to answer all my questions about parking, events, printing, etc! Tara and other student employees are doing an amazing job at hosting events and being extremely resourceful!

Living in the Union on Knox has been a great experience! The building is gorgeous and well-maintained, the amenities are super unique, and most of all... the staff is awesome! I met one of the community assistants, Tara Goldstein, during the S'mores event and she really made an impression on me. Her kind attitude, high work ethnic, and event planning skills were super impressive. She really stuck out to me as a star member of their team!

Union on Knox has been a pleasure to work with! They are a new student living apartment right next to UMD. You can't beat the location, it's close to campus and all the restaurants and nightlife. I toured the leasing office with Kiara and she was wonderful and answered all my questions. The amenities in this building are also amazing. They have a 2 story gym, a pet spa, and a gaming room. I would definitely check them out if you're a UMD student looking for Fall 2024 housing.

I love this building, they have a two story gym and a pet spa! The amenities and floor plans are great. Kiara was so helpful.
