Universal City Overlook

Visiting Universal City Overlook was an amazing experience! The view from the top was breathtaking, offering a stunning panoramic vista of the city below. You can see the entire Universal Studios theme park, as well as the surrounding areas, all framed by lush greenery. The atmosphere was peaceful and refreshing, with the perfect balance of nature and cityscape. It’s a great spot to relax and take in the beauty of Los Angeles. The accessibility and well-maintained paths made it easy to explore, and it’s a perfect place to snap some memorable photos. It was truly a highlight of my trip!

Really great overlook for this part of the valley. The city lights up while the sun is setting just around the corner. We stayed for over an hour! You can see Universal City in the foreground. The whole experience was great!

Good north-facing overlook — would recommend on the night of a full moon. Parking is tight so be careful on your way up, and watch out for oncoming traffic. Not many lights on the actual overlook, so also be careful walking around.

Amazing view of the city scape, even after sunset. Quite a few people come here for the view. Lots of spots to park at night, but not many places to sit. The air feels lighter and cleaner, with good weather is a great experience, must visit if you need a place to just unwind.

A beautiful viewing platform. I recommend visiting. It takes 5 minutes to take photos and videos. It is not very busy on a weekday. To get to this place, you need to drive along a winding road. Parking along the road, few parking spaces. People look quickly, do not stay here for long, when they leave, parking spaces appear. You need to wait. Tourist buses bring here.

There's parking for about 3 cars. Your buses are not permitted. It's a beautiful outlook with summer shade trees.

Nice view one you reach the top. The drive is what you really enjoy. We didn't stay long but something nice and random to do in the city.

This is a really popular pull off overlook area! You can see a lot in Studio City and Burbank. This is a popular spot for tourists, bus tours and some locals. The views are fantastic! They have a map that will point out several of the Studios and related buildings. While you are traveling to and from the overlook, you will be passing several celebrity homes. If you do your research prior to going, you will know which ones. A lot of the houses have large gates out front preventing you from seeing much.

One of the intended visits we planned to make was to take a ride on Mulholland Drive and stop at the Universal City Overlook. The Overlook has excellent views of Universal City, which is the heart of the Hollywood film industry. The small park has a map detailing where each film studio and other related buildings are located from looking out to Universal City. Many LA tours will stop by here for the ticket holders to obtain photos and selfies from the Overlook. Glad we stopped here for a few minutes as the views are lovely, and it's fun driving along Mulholland Drive.

For a wonderful Mulholland Drive vantage point, take 10 minutes to admire the northern neighborhoods of Los Angeles. To truly immerse yourself in a Lynchian cinematic experience, rent a speedy convertible hotrod and head to the lookout at midnight.

Tourists or locals can go to visit there. It is really popular, so it is better to arrive 6:30 pm to park close to there. It is really cool see the sunset and the lights are coming in the night. You have a good view of Valley.

went here recently for bday weekend, i was actually looking for a scene from cobra kai that u thought i saw out here also some celebrity home tours as the view from each side of the peak was just spectacular

One of my favorite things to do is visit Twin Peaks in San Francisco and enjoy the view of the city, so I was so glad to learn about Universal City Overlook. I came on a Friday right before sunset and brought some takeout to enjoy with my family. We were able to get one of the few parking spots on the cliff side of overlook, so we were able to enjoy the view while eating in the car. Afterwards we got out and walked around for a bit. I was surprised that it wasn't busier. There were only a few other people that came while we were there and for part of the time we were the only ones there. There was a tour bus that drove up there and was kind of loud, but other than that it was really peaceful.

I didn't want to write about this because I wanted to keep this not-super-secret-spot still somewhat of a secret. However, it's 2021 and we can all use a little help thinking outside of the box for our weekends, our highly limited social lives or just our me times. All it takes is some take-out from one of your fave local spot(s) and a little drive. Let's not forget a touch of patience for parking depending on what time you get there-- I've usually gotten there around 6:30-7:00pm? Solid peak time. As soon as you find that parking spot, get that mask on, grab yourself or your friend and let the view speak for itself. You get to support your local businesses while following the right social distance guidelines to bring us out of this pandemic one day.. And more importantly? You get to step away from your house for some fresh air and maybe, just maybe... Invite an old familiar face you've missed so dearly while still being safe. The city view, the outdoors-- Best of both worlds honestly. We've all been cooped up feeling like we're losing to this pandemic but we're not losing. We just need adjustments and this is a good and safe start. Enjoy the view and breathe.

Easy dan beautiful way to enjoy Los Angeles from above. Relaxing and romantic. The signs said that it's closed at 9pm, but there's a lot of people parking and hangout after 9. Parking is easy along the street.

My boyfriend and I went to city walk and decided to look for a view anywhere near. We ended up finding this one and the view is so beautiful! They have seats for people to sit and there is parking next to this place. You are able to see universal studios from here, since HHN is happening now when we went we could even hear the screams from people lol it was a great experience overall! The only thing is that going up the hill to get here can be horrible if you don't know the curves, also the line for cars is very thin so you need to be careful when a car is coming down.

I made a trip to the Universal City Overlook today. It was nice! I loved seeing the the mountain range in the distance and all the city life down below! I saw a hawk fly by! I like that the Overlook is dog-friendly! I definitely plan on returning! The drive up Mulhulland Drive was worh it! For the record: There is limited parking alongside the Overlook.

This is a great go to spot for a date or a family outing. Nice to get out of the house during this covid time and get some fresh air. Great view at night of the city below. Open till 9:00pm. Parking on both sides of street. Beware lots of traffic watch your speed.

Very lackluster. The view is ok but honestly you just a comcast building right in front of you and universal city walk in the distance. The viewing area is really small. You'd get much better views at the Griffith observatory. This was a random pit stop!

I love it when we accidentally come upon a beautiful location simply by chance. We were taking a short cut or so we thought, to avoid the crowded 101 when we drove by this amazing view. I quickly realized parking is quite limited here with only two viewing spots. Lucky for us, it was a cool, cloudy day and we had our choice of where to park. You may want to park close to the curb in the designated parking areas since cars go whizzing past. Mulholland can be narrow and it's a curvey road. View is terrific, well worth the stop!

Super beautiful view! Watching the sunset transition into night time was a wonder to see and the city lights are amazing from there. Only issue was that it was a bit crowded and parking was a little difficult to find. I'd recommend getting there before sunset begins.

The place is still open and not too crowded on Saturday's beginning of the month. Definitely a great spot for a scenic view.

If you can find parking this is an amazing spot to gaze upon the panorama of the San Fernando Valley.

Couldn't even park cops everywhere total waste of time but if you could park there and not be harassed by the police it would be amazing so just go at your own risk

One said it was "orgasmic," The other one screamed. I guess my guest and i were on the same wave length when it comes LA's best nighttime skyline views. It was already a good day for me I didn't expect to see something so beautiful. We parked in a dead zone and ran across the street to take a quick photo of Los Angeles nightlife. I had no idea it was going to take my breath away!!!! My gosh it was one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. Too bad I still can't figure out the panoramic button on my camera.

Beautiful stopping point to look over the city. So peaceful and the air is so clean. There was a few couples there enjoying the view with us. Parking is very limited and the drive up here was kind of exciting but don't drive fast cause there are lots of curves and blind spots. But over all the whole view coming was beautiful.

It was nice but not spectacular. It takes but a few minutes to take in the view. Perhaps at sunrise or sunset would be a better experience but I'm on the fence as to whether it's worth the drive of the purpose is just this view.

I love coming up here on clear, and cloudy days. It's a nice date drive off or to enjoy a picnic while looking at the valley. There is limited parking along the roadway, but I would definitely still try to make it out.

Um.. I'm flabbergasted by why this "view" has high reviews. Then again, one of the Yelpers is from Chicago so this is a far better view than a snowy metropolis. Anyway, the Universal City Overlook is not the best place to impress your date or friend unless you are trying to basically find a spot off the side of the road to smoke some weed. The view basically consists of the NBC Universal building and the 101S freeway. Not impressive. Plus, there are signs EVERYWHERE restricting viewing past dark so it's not the ideal location to see the lights as the signs blatantly scream that you CAN get a ticket for being past the "closing" time and you know LA cops... they don't mess around. Skip this overlook. There are hundreds of better views even within the valley.

Absolutely love love love this place, the views are so amazing! On a clear day the skies are as blue as they can get in LA. You can see universal studios, warner brothers, downtown LA, and The hollywood sign! This outlook is amazing and I always take trips through the streets to see the amazingly huge luxurious houses! they are a must see! The sunset is a must see also. Trying to find this place is a toughie at first, it still is to me! but its the fun of site seeing and exploring a totally different side of town! Also if you take the hollywood tour that you can catch by the chinese theater and wax museum they also will take you up there, so you dont have to worry about getting lost!

Definitely a beautiful view of hollywood! I've only had the pleasure of coming here at night a few times. Its a little confusing to drive to because the signs are hard to see but definitely worth a trip. pretty romantic as well. it closes at 9pm

Came here for valentines evening with my girl it was amazing a spectacular look. Late review but its breath taking all of hollywood and LA. Easy parking and trail to the top. Making out here is good, romantic and private. What a great way to show your love on valentines or any special occasion with your special someone. Will be here again

Really pretty up here, day or night. My husband proposed to me here and it was beautiful. Be careful with parking since its off of Mulholland but its beautiful. I believe it closes at sunset but I'm not sure if there is a formal closure such as a gate or rope. So maybe it's not advised to go when it's late since its dark and the road is windy. Just use caution when you park and cross the street if you do.

This place is the BOMB. Granted, I haven't really taken advantage of living near the city, so my first time visiting this place last night, amidst fog and mist. But seeing the night lights view emerge from the winding drive for the first time was *amazing,* thus the five stars. Other reviews say there are much better places with better views, which is probably true, so I'll just say can't wait to see those too! People, do share.

Really an amazing drive. The view is unparalleled of the city below. I have wanted to see this since before I knew I was moving to California. It was well worth it!

Cool man! We drove up the winding road and got a very cool view of LA. It's free and it was fun driving up the slowly deteriorating road. There are some blind turns there and I was carelful not to go driving off the road. I'm from Chicago originally so learning about California history is always fun (Anaheim Muzeo had some neat Orange County history in the annex on the second floor). The overlook has plaques with photos from the early 20th century showing how barren the valley was before Hollywood was founded. Another photo identifies the various buildings of importance in the valley. Free fun!

Beautiful view but always crowded. We came after sunset and there were groups of loud teenagers playing music, smoking and having a blast.

I stumbled across the Universal City Overlook quite on accident; I'm almost postitive I was trying to find Runyon Canyon when I noticed this hidden gem of a lookout. I highly recommend scoping out the sunset at the Overlook, and it closes at 9 so you can also get a stellar view of the city lights (granted there isn't much fog!).

Nice place to take a look at the view if you don't value your safety. Traffic on Mulholland speeds by close enough to scrape your paint, and the Rangers keep an eye on this place for handing out tickets to cars not parked to their liking. The view is good unless it's smoggy (which it usually is), but it's a favorite of the tourist buses which block you in unless you raise a fuss. Buy postcards instead and avoid the unpleasantness.

This is a good stop when driving Mullholland. While not as spectacular as the Hollywood Bowl overlook, it's still worth stopping to see the lights. It's best at night.

This is yet another one of the great scenic overlooks off of Mulholland Drive. This one, as the title clearly suggests, overlooks Universal City, Burbank, and a good portion of the SF Valley off to the west. There is ample parking on the other side of the street if you dare to brave running across Mulholland. There are some good spots along the overlook to sit and take in the views or you can just stand and lean against the railing, whatever suits your fancy! There is also a standard useful informational placard that informs you what you are looking at if you aren't familiar with the area. As far as the views, they are second to none. I don't know of a better overlook of the eastern end of the SF valley...

This is an amazing place to visit on a clear night with the date that you'd like to impress ;-). When the weathers right, and the weathers often so right.... this is a great place to visit,chill out and enjoy the scenery.

I had a wonderful time at the city walk, it was nothing like I imagined it to be, price is very reasonable. Have fun and enjoy!!

Great view of the valley. Parking here is street but has more spaces to offer compared to the other Hollywood bowl overlook. All in all it's a great place to sit take in a nice a view and relax before going on your way.
