"It’s seventy degrees out and a team lunch needs to happen. This is not a drill. You must get outside or Steve the walking HR violation is going to lose his sh*t. But you know what to do, because Uno Dos Tacos exists, and it’s a very good solution for any lunch or happy hour with a group where you also want to be outdoors so you can maybe run away from Steve. The food at Uno Dos Tacos is fairly predictable and follows the standard fast-casual Mexican setup: a few protein options, plus one vegetarian choice, and the ability to get the fillings served as taco, burrito, bowl or salad. Everything is fine. No dishes are bad, but nothing could really be described as great either. It’s a very safe place with no surprises, but definitely don’t expect a taco revelation. Besides the perfectly acceptable food, Uno Dos also has a surprisingly serious bar menu with an ideal happy hour from 4-8pm on weekdays, and an extensive mezcal and tequila list plus cocktails. The shots are small, more like tasters, so they are definitely trying to reign in the terror that could be unleashed by a four hour hard liquor-fueled happy hour near major office buildings. Smart. But they don’t limit your $4 beer intake, so do with that what you will. The outdoor patio area, on a pretty big corner off Market, is perfect on a nice day, meaning there will definitely be a line and a short wait for tables. Besides the humans, there are also many aggressive pigeons who will probably try to steal your tacos. Stay safe. The inside is nice too, and very big, so you can still hit it on a chilly day for a quick lunch. So when you’re put in charge of planning the next team lunch or happy hour and it happens to fall on a sunny day, round up the troops (maybe forget to cc Steve) and head over to Uno Dos. Food Rundown Chips & Guacamole The chips tend to be far too greasy, and the guacamole is strong, but served in a pretty tiny cup. You get a huge basket of chips, which you can dole out to any pigeons that may approach. Pescado Taco Solid but a bit salty. They do the job if you’re craving fish tacos, but not our favorite. Tinga Taco The chicken is a tad bland, but overall a good taco. Just add salsa. Asada Taco Slightly chewy but also fine. Not upset about them and also not overjoyed. Carnitas Taco These were maybe the best of the options, but also nothing to write home about. A little dry. Salad You can get any of the meats (or the vegetarian option) on top of a salad instead of a taco. It has tortilla strips and some veggies and is only moderately healthy. The main selling point is not getting your hands as dirty as you would eating tacos." - Taylor Abrams

Ordered 4 microscopic "Birria" tacos for $20!! They are classic street taco size and the meat is NOT Birria, not even close. The meat is chunky like steak and not shredded, consume tasted like birria, but the meat was in an entirely different thick sauce. Got tricked for $20 of my dollars and it's the last they will get. Go here if you want to spend $20 a person, feel like crap, but still be hungry 😂 the pic is a small to go box, don't let it fool you

This birria tacos are SOOOOO not worth $19. There is barely any cheese nor meat on these things!!!!! Then, they only gave me a quarter of the little serving container of consumme. I am completely floored about this!!!!

My husband and I finally tried this place, and while there's nothing "wrong" it's definitely just a small step above Taco Bell. I found it to be overpriced for what it is, and while the food is fine, it's not exceptionally delicious and tasty. The cheese dip was thick and not queso blanco, more like Velveeta, and the chips were unsalted. I also couldn't get any "toppings" added into my Quesadilla. It's definitely not worth 40$ for two entrees. If I wanted to spend that much I'd go to a table service restaurant. However, as I mentioned the food is perfectly fine; if you're looking for a quick mexican-ish meal and in a hurry, this is a convenient stop on your way to the interstate. The restaurant was clean and well lit, the staff was cordial, and the food was made quickly. If you have stopped going to Izzos Illegal Burrito on Hwy 21 because of the frightening condition of that place, this is something sort of comparable that you could try, although they don't have the charred corn so many people love. My husband was just excited to have a burrito bowl so I'm sure we will return.

Jumped off the freeway for a bite and found this nugget of deliciousness. We had steak burrito and beef brisket taco salad...but excited our stomach. We both left satisfied and feeling SEXY! 🥰

For the staff to mainly be teenagers. I'm super impressed because they're always sweet, kind and courteous and professional. The food is good too. I do get heartburn but that's just me.

Update: my review below is from the first week they opened. I went at noon today to dine in and the girl who was supposed to be up front taking orders was too busy flirting and standing back by the kitchen talking to the guys to take my order. The drive through lady kept saying someone would be with me, but it took her the other lady a good 5 minutes to turn around to help me. Then they forgot the guacamole on my tacos. Had to go back and tell her they forgot it so they could give it to me. Also, they are very sparse with the cheese and sour cream. I felt like maybe they just started out strong but they are quickly dwindling in my mind. Do not know if I'll come back. Things have deteriorated since the first week. Ultimately I do not feel it was worth the $12+ dollars for 2 red fish tacos. The drive through employee is the hardest worker you have! Tastes delicious and fresh. I like how you can customize whatever you want on your burrito, quesadilla, taco or salad.

Google
me and my sisters stopped here on our 16 hr trip back home and the owner tommy was so amazing to us! you have to try this place. The steak and cheese quesadilla is top tier, the nachos are delicious, and the steak tacos are so fresh. Food came out quick and super hot!

Definitely will be back again. The seasoned ground beef was good but comparable to taco bell. Salsa will be avoided in the future. Tomatillo sauce was a good alternative to their salsa with a nice flavor and slightly spicy. Queso was good. Chips and salsa are not included with every dish. I had two ground beef tacos with plenty of fixings on soft (corn and flour mix) tortillas. My wife had the taco salad which looked fabulous and the shell was perfectly crispy. Rice and beans were good. If choosing a meal in the future I will pick rice and beans or chips and queso (not salsa).

Yelp
I've stopped by here to grab a bite 3 times now. They opened close to home a couple of months ago. I've tried the crispy tacos which were really good, but so far the best thing I've had is the burrito with birria, rice, and beans (3 different options refried, black, and whole pinto), several different tortilla options but I always get the cayenne. Then I add a lot of veggies. They have a great list of options and only a couple of options cost extra (like guacamole). The birria is really flavorful and tender. They load your burrito up! It's a new place so very clean inside and it's nice that they have a drive-thru if you don't want to go inside. You can also order online and pick up but they cut off the order online 30 mins to an hour before close. You can still call and order for pick up. The ambiance is super casual. The times I've been the employees were really nice and service was fast. I'm really happy to have this location close by!

Yelp
Wasn't impressed at all with the food. Let's call this Taco Bell 2.0 Birria tacos, all you can taste from the sauce was smoked paprika. The rice and beans were not great. In all, food was not great, and they were expensive.

Yelp
Went threw drive threw on Nov 10 around 630 and ordered 4 shrimp tacos and 2 steak tacos. Got home and had no steak tacos. Shrimp tacos that were in there had about 2 tacos that were full and the rest were lettuce. Shrimp tacos were terrible and had no seasoning. This place won't last long. Terrible food. Owner do not respond with come talk to me because I will never return.

Loriyon J.

Yelp
Really a 2.5 for me. Decided to try out this new spot in Covington and was not impressed. If you like Mexican food this is not the place for you. I ordered the steak quesadilla, chicken tacos, and churros. Everything was basic and didn't seem fresh. Definitely not what I was expecting from uno dos tacos.

Gena B.

Yelp
Very underwhelming experience. We went on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We were the only ones there and that should've been the first clue. We pulled up in the drive thru and had to wait 10 minutes before our order was taken. It took at least another 10 minutes before the food came out and it was desperately lacking flavor.

Nichole F.

Yelp
Very good breakfast burritos I drive from Hammond to get one when I'm up early enough bc they aren't all day...

Catherine W.

Yelp
They have the best breakfast burritos hands down! I know what I'm talking about but I always add refried beans to it. Go see for yourself yall! Yum

Nick S.

Yelp
Really good tacos and nachos. My only complaint is the dining area closes at 8 PM. We ordered at the drive through and ate outside. I witnessed 4 different people walk up and leave without ordering food.

K B.

Yelp
The birria quesadilla was good, I had a barbacoa bowl, the barbacoa was sweet and in what tasted like bbq sauce which did not like, barbacoa shouldn't be sweet or in a sauce, the churros were ok, I did not care for the chocolate sauce

Will L.

Yelp
basically the name of the restaurant resembles the amount of food given. 1 or 2 bites. legit 20 dollars isn't worth the sad asf meal I received.

Victoria P.

Yelp
My husband was trying to get me out of bed, and he said he was planning to take me to "the new taco place" for breakfast tacos. I was rtg in under 10 mins. So glad that we came here! The food is fantastic, all made fresh in house. We got breakfast tacos and burritos, and we cannot wait to come back for lunch or dinner!

Devin W.

Yelp
Just really inconsistent. I have been 4 times and have had 4 completely different experiences. Sometimes the food is perfect, other times it's not correct or just not very good. Customer service is above average but again it just depends on the day how great it is. I'm looking forward to when they're better acclimated and I can increase their rating!

Christy M.

Yelp
I ordered 2 taco lunch, chips & salsa & guacamole. The ladies were friendly & engaging while they asked for my choice of toppings. Delicious! Thank you, Christy Classy50lives LLC

J T.

Yelp
This is a local spot and great for nights when you just want a something to eat at your convenience. They have a great selection to choose from and your food is made to order. The selection of toppings is good and the prices aren't bad either.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Tacos were amazing!! My husband had a burrito and devoured it. We'll definitely be back.

Olivia H.

Yelp
I am obsessed with the bacon egg & cheese breakfast burrito combo in the morning! I add refried beans & add the chipotle mayo on the side. (get extra of this sauce, its a game changer) The hash browns are so crispy & seasoned well. The burrito is delicious everytime. The service is always great when I go inside. This is a great addition to the area & I recommend!

Laura F.

Yelp
Freshly made, fast! We ordered chicken, steak, and barbacoa tacos and they were well stuffed and delicious. My kids like that they get to "build" their tacos with the toppings they like. Service was extremely friendly. While it's not a "traditional" Mexican place, it's the chipotle of tacos and that works for us! Will definitely come back again.

Gabe H.

Yelp
This place is like Jet Blue of a taco shop. They charge for everything. Overpriced and quality of the product is average at best. I've been back 3 times hoping that I could find as good and good value as it's close to my house.

Cole L.

Yelp
The food is a 10/10. The quality and the quantities are insane. Not pricey at all either. New favorite spot for a inexpensive tasty meal that will fill me up

Katie M.

Yelp
The food was not what was expected. The beans were out of the can and it should be a crime to call the rice Mexican. The service was nice.

Shelby S.

Yelp
Fantastic new spot! First, we tried them for dinner and ordered through the drive-up. Very friendly employee helped us! Steak tacos were phenomenal! Guacamole and chips were great too! Tried a few days later for breakfast and were again thrilled with how great they were! Awesome new spot with great food and friendly employees!

Yelp
Went grab some breakfast today. Sausage taco and chorizo taco. 10/10. Delicious. You can hear them in the back preparing your food so it's good and fresh. Also had the brisket breakfast burrito. So good! Nice and Smokey. Cinnamon roll is a good size and warm. It was amazing. Last but not least, the churros.. they give you 3 with a chocolate dipping sauce that is warm. That was 10/10 as well! Can't wait to try them for dinner!!
