Uno Mas

We recently dined at Uno Mas, and while the food was very good, the overall experience was rushed from start to finish. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrées, and dessert — everything came out quickly, and each dish was delicious and well-prepared. The flavors were authentic and fresh. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their food. Unfortunately, the service made the evening feel extremely hurried. When we arrived we were told that we had to be finished in an hour and 45 minutes for the next reservation. It set the entire experience off on the wrong foot. Servers started clearing plates while some of us were still eating, and we felt pressured to finish up even though we’d only been there about an hour and a half. For a full meal with multiple courses, that’s a bit too fast — especially when you’re trying to enjoy good company and great food. If you’re looking for tasty Mexican dishes for take out or don’t mind a quicker-paced meal, this spot delivers. But if you prefer to relax and linger over drinks and dinner during a long awaited girls night out, choose a different spot.

This is a cute restaurant, chic decor. Service is attentive. Prices are okay, a little on the high side for some things. They serve mocktail margaritas for $10 and we went to the liquor store next door for tequila and then poured it into the drinks ourselves. They even give you shot glasses to pour it into. The mocktail is pretty sour though and not very flavorful, mine was strawberry basil but didn't really taste like strawberry or basil. Small seating area, backs of chairs kept bumping into each other and it's hard to walk to your seat when the place is busy. Also the tables are uneven. One table was slanting to the side a lot. The guacamole and the calamari apps were great. Big portions and delicious. Guac was very fresh and well seasoned, the calamari I loved how big the pieces were, super tender and had a spicy sauce with it that had sautéed almonds which added a nice crunch. And lots of shishito peppers on top. The entrees were average. They got the temperature wrong for my hanger steak. It was still tender and juicy but I didn't like the green sauce on it. Which was spicy and vinegary. The potatoes added nothing to the dish in terms of flavor or texture, I barely ate them. The tomato and avocado salad was good, light and tasty. They served it with corn tortillas but the tortillas are very gooey and bland. My husband liked his scallop tacos a lot. I tried one of his mushroom tacos and didn't like it. Again lots of vinegar, and also it wasn't all mushrooms it had peppers and leeks in it. The desserts were pricey at $12 and pretty average. Nothing special. The churros were dry. I give this place a 4 because I loved their apps and it has a nice vibe despite being cramped. And wait service was professional and friendly.

Delicious chips, and the pineapple sauce was really refreshing! They have a cute set-up inside too and fun mocktails. Don’t miss the enchiladas.

The food, atmosphere, and service were all wonderful! It's BYOB. However, they have a short list of "Mock-aritas," and we ordered the Jalapeño Mint. We shared the House Made Salsa Trio, Masa Crispy Calamari & Shishito Peppers, and Yellowfin Tuna Tostada appetizers, and split the Tres Leches Cake for dessert. No Entrées, although there were plenty to choose from.

This is my second time taking my girls (3 and 5) for dinner by myself and this is the second time I was so impressed by the incredible service and delicious food that I felt compelled to write a review. The staff at Uno Mas has gone out of their way both times to make it a very special experience for my girls. They made modifications to anything I asked and were extremely attentive. The food was also delicious. I got the hanger steak with mashed potatoes and avocado/tomato salad- steak perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare, mashed potatoes so good without being too buttery and salad was healthy and flavorful. The kids got chicken fingers bento box plate and loved it as well. The guacamole and chips were also a hit - the staff put the onions/tomatoes/jalapeno that comes on the guac on the side for the kids.

Even with the above average prices for tacos, I thought it was worth it and definitely worth a visit. It’s a relatively small venue but exceptionally decorated and surprising fits a good amount of tables. The front of house were all top notch with considerate and prompt customer service. Let’s get to the food. The guac and chips, cheese dip, and salad were fresh and delicious. I enjoyed every bite of that guac and the salad had a well balanced flavor with an interesting chipotle:lime like dressing. The bite into the scallop taco was heaven and I tried to eat slowly to savor the flavors. The birria on the other end was a little rough to the chew and lacked a solidified flavor profile. Pork chops were cooked perfectly, well seasoned and tender to the bite. It didn’t seem like it was a lot of food, but I was completely full and didn’t have room for desert. Overall, an excellent spot to dine with byob.

Great for private events of about 20 people. I attended a birthday party here where friends rented out the space for lunch on a Saturday. Great food, their mango salsa was bomb! The staff service was excellent and very accommodating. Kids friendly!

First time visit. Setting is plush casual and comfortable. Service was attentive and helpful. It was tacos all around tonight. Shrimp, pastor, and mushroom. Tacos are good but not great. Flavors are more mainstream then Mexican

The scallop taco was a first and it was outstanding! The special guacamole appetizer special was again very unique and delicious!!! The tortilla chips crispy, thick & served hot!! I really liked the burrito too but next time I'll get the pork chop. And the mocktails are also nice because it's byob so you mix in your own tequila. I had the spicy mango mild and it was delicious!! They did the salt perfectly on the glass too-not messy. I'd like to see some more fish tacos on the menu but I'll be back. The service is really, really good too!!!

I dined here with 7 others. The place was not crowded but the food was really very good. We were there earlier in the day but, I believe they have some kind of live music on some evenings. I felt very comfortable with my friends, some of who like to get loud. My toco salad was better than most other places of like cuisine.

Cozy little spot. They take walk ins but I recommend making a reservation since it's small. Really good guacamole. I did ask server for vegetables instead of chips but he never brought them so I just ate it plain. Tuna tostada was very flavorful with slight hint of jalapenos. We ordered the classic margaritas and added our own tequila. Little too much simple syrup. Next time I'll just have my tequila on the rocks. I had the skirt steak for an entree and it was very tasty. Pretty big portion, I couldn't finish it. Would definitely come back. Nice menu with lots of choices.

Had to come on here and give an update. The owner reached out to me; took full responsibility and was genuinely apologetic for the experience we had. He also sent us a gift card. This was a very nice gesture from him and we appreciate it!

The food was delicious! We had salmon and scallop tacos. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Don't miss the dessert either!!! Alex and Nigel provided excellent service!

This little hole in the wall is by far the best Mexican food ever. The family and I visit here very frequently and when I say NEVER had a bad meal or service is an understatement. The staff is always so attentive the food is excellent. Homeade guacamole and those addicting homemade chips are absolutely spectacular. Depending on the mood it's either the skirt steak or the salmon. Both absolutely mouth watering. Then finish off the night with a slice of their homemade tres Leche. Don't walk run over to this place check it out you won't be disappointed. Reservations fill up fast so plan accordingly!

i've being hearing about this place for some time and finally went. Personally i do not see why it's busy. i made a reservation a week prior, walked in and personally made it and asked for a specific , which i didn't get. Ambiance, truly needs an update. the place is small and they have sound absorbent panels but they don't work. the place was annoyingly loud. you couldn't hear the person across from you. The food, absolutely no flavor. started with guacamole of the week which was topped with crab meat, bland i had the grilled salmon, which didn't appear to be grilled. wasn't a seat mark on it. more like barely steamed. we had two sides tostones, which were so dry and hard you could barely eat, mexican rice-absolutely no flavor for dessert tres leche cake, flat and flavorless. our waiter Steve was very good. the only good thing about this place. this restaurant is filled with people that are there for these mock tails they make and they add the liquor they bring. this place is not worth it. you'd get a more flavorful meal at taco bell

Exceptional mexican - loved the guac and crab special, calamari, and the guac n chips. Amazing best mexican in bergen county by far. The salsa was good and the BYOB is a great plus. The burritos were decent. Lastly, the service was incredible esp for cinco de mayo. Loved it will be back!!!!!!

We ordered food for a family party of about 25 people and it was amazing! The Strawberry Basil margarita mocktail was so delicious as was all of the food. I would highly recommded and they were so lovely and easy to work with.

I just wanted to share an amazing experience we just had at Uno Más in Allendale. (@uno_mas_allendale). The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was so delicious. Personally my favorite were the grilled pork chop and scallop tacos. You can get a bottle of wine or beer next door at a liquor shop. I truly highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.

Went to Uno Mas last week after hearing many good things about it. The restaurant is BYOB. The restaurant is not "Tex-Mex", which I thought meant we would get some high quality eats, but unfortunately, it did not work out that way. It wasn't awful, but definitely not worth the $. We started with the Birria egg rolls, which comes with a dipping sauce that they called spicy. There was some flavor from the sauce, although it was not spicy. The egg rolls themselves were meh. My wife had the burger, which see said was average. I had the tenderloin. It was good, albeit a pretty small serving. This restaurant charges a ton for a small bowl of chops and salsa, which we skipped, when the rest of the world gives that for free, usually with unlimited refills. The service was mixed. We got a dirty glass, and they left the menus on the table even after the entrees were served, which took up a lot of space on the small table. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Definitely not worth the price.

Go here for fancy Mexican, good guacamole, chips and the strawberry mock tail! Had 2 mushroom tacos and tried to add some salsa to jazz it up a bit but salsa was too spicy hot. Could have used cheese in these to improve the flavor. Had the yellowfin tuna app which tasted slightly fishy but otherwise was good. My water glass wasn't refilled so I stole a friends. The temperature was warm and then very cold so that impacted the ambiance and experience....They were nice enough to put candles in the bday cake but it was a photo-cake and a candle was placed right in the center of the head of the photo before we got a good pic. Despite the opportunities for improvement I will definitely give this Uno Mas shot 1 more time!

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide drink list. We recommend to everyone! We would like to come back here again and again. Atmosphere is chill and cool if you take the time- to look at the dream catchers hanging from the ceiling .The staff is also really friendly. Chef Rob and his wife Susie Borden know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. After 2 years we returned to see if there were any notable improvements. The noise level was not as bad, the employees were friendlier, we were able to order an app prior to ordering dinner, and the crispy shrimp tacos were still good. However, the salsa for the chips was horrible and not authentic, and the BIRRIA egg rolls were mediocre. What are the things that really hits you when you're there is that you don't feel like you're in a Mexican restaurant. You could be at any restaurant so the ambience is definitely lacking. Don't get me involved in the restaurant is pretty but you just don't feel like you're in a Mexican place.

Great Mexican food, excellent service and the ambiance is good. Beef brisket tacos were delicious, was part of the specials. A plus about this restaurant it's a BYOB, so bring what ever drink you thinks is best to have with your dinner. I think is best to make reservations, the place is small and there is only street parking.

4.5 stars When I discovered that Uno Mas was owned by some of my favorite Hoboken restauranteurs (owners of Grand Vin, Saku, and Green Rock), I was eager to give it a shot. The small dining room was cozy and welcoming, just like their gracious staff. The restaurant was also kid-friendly, which was great, as my dining companions had children. In fact, the kitchen even served the kids' menu items in silicone bowls! While the restaurant did not have a liquor license, they did have a variety of "Mock-aritas", which were made from scratch using fresh fruit and produce. Apparently, we could have brought our own liquor to infuse the beverages with, but we stuck to the alcohol-free versions. I did not want something super sweet or fruity, so I opted for the Jalapeno Mint flavor and fell completely in love with its blend of tart lime, refreshing mint, and spicy pepper. Plus, it was served in a margarita glass with a tajin-salted rim, giving the illusion of consuming the full boozy variety. We sipped on our glamourous mocktails while munching on some blue corn tortilla chips and guacamole. The chips were crunchy and well-salted, but were sadly served as a small portion in a tiny bowl. The Guacamole was chunky, fresh, and topped with diced cilantro, jalapenos, and red onions. The entrée menu included a bunch of interesting dishes and even a taco platter, which included your choice of any 3 taco varieties with a side of rice and beans for $26. Given that the tacos cost $8-$9 individually, it was a decent deal, so that was what most of us decided to order. The Pork Al Pastor version included achiote-marinated, shredded pork that was topped with roasted pineapple chunks, cilantro leaves, and diced onions. The sweetness of the fruit was a great complement to the smoke of the pork marinade. The Mushroom Carnitas taco was packed with slow-roasted, royal trumpet mushrooms, poblano peppers, and guacamole. It might have been messy, but it sure was delicious! Lastly, the Scallop one included a singular scallop that had been sliced in half, as well as fried brussels sprout leaves, and a cream corn puree. It was a blend of 3 of my favorite food items. All of the tacos were delicious, and I loved that their soft, corn shells appeared to have been homemade. We were all very impressed with the food and service at Uno Mas. However, we did feel that the portions were on the smaller side, as we left rather hungry.

Always so good! We come here often, usually in larger groups for dinner and it never disappoints. Service is always so great and the vibe is really cute and fun! The menu has been updated and offers lots of gluten free etc options which is so appreciated. Love the mocktails and the specials are always delicious too!

had an incredible experience at Uno Man! This BYOB spot is a must-visit for anyone who loves Mexican flavors in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was outstanding--everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The tacos were packed with flavor, the short rib enchiladas were rich and satisfying, and the guacamole was some of the best I've had. Being able to bring our own drinks made the night even more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to come back for another amazing meal!

I am giving this restaurant three stars as it is new and I am hoping it will use this review as constructive feedback to improve overall. First of all this restaurant is NOT child friendly. My opinion is take off the children's menu and just simply say "no we do not offer a kid's menu." The cups that they gave the kids were extremely heavy and glass. I was surprise that my children did not drop them. Also, for $12 I expect more than just 3 tiny chicken nuggets. My six year old is not big eater but was starving after the meal. Second, besides my meal which was good (the red snapper) none of the adults were happy with their meal. The short rib enchilada were a disappointment as they seemed more like tacos than enchiladas. Also just didn't taste fresh. Also a $30+ meal came with no sides and when we ordered the$8 sides of beans they were beyond tiny (too small to share). The plantains were the worst as they were inedible because they were as hard as a rock.

Please go and try this place out!!! I found out from a friend and boy was she spot on!!! Tiny place but service was incredible from start to finish! Steven our waiter was knowledgeable and quick with the drinks( mock tails- which you bring your own tequila- or whatever you'd like to drink). Let me just say we dove right in with some tacos as apps- the scallops with the crispy Brussel sprouts was unusual but outstanding!!! The Al pastor- with the fresh pineapples were ridiculously tasty!!! I had burrito- which was NOT filled with rice but the perfect combination of meat, beans, spices, lettuce and guacamole- little rice- perfection!!! My husband had the beef with mole- which he said was the best flavor he's ever had! We forgot to order the corn as a side - but we will order next time- dessert was the tres leaches cake - very light and tasty with fresh strawberries- again we eat out a lot and are big foodies!!! This place is as my kids would say is - FIRE!!! Only suggestion to owner is ~please serve some coffee with dessert- even if you get a Nespresso! We will be back soon!!

Went for lunch. Place was empty. So quiet. They need to play soft music or something. I felt like i had to whisper when i wanted to talk. Guac was okay. $15 way too much for a small portion Birria tacos were good Mushroom tacos were good My nephew enjoyed the al pastor tacos Mocktails were really good Churros was a bit overcooked and broke apart. Chocolate sauce was a good pairing. They don't have coffee. Smh The waitress was okay. She could've put our 4 tacos each in 2 plates not 2 tacos per plate which made very little room on our table. What i didn't like was besides the fact that they don't make coffee is do they even have hot sauce?? We never got any hot sauce for our tacos and honestly i didn't even ask but should i? Hot sauce should be complimentary. No? Overall i feel this place is decent at best and overpriced. $12 for 2 tacos and for dinner it's $15 for 2 tacos. The taco shell was great but i feel the price didn't go with the quality or presentation.

Well...just when I thought Blue Moon in Wyckoff was the staple for luring in white Bergen County people who never ate real Mexican in their lives, here comes Uno Mas. This place is super tiny, overpriced, and mediocre at best. $10 for "mocktail" drinks is a sin. I don't comprehend how people are manipulated into believing this is real Mexican food. The birria egg rolls were terrible. Meat and sauce had no flavor whatsoever and were cold. The rice and beans are the usual restaurant depot shit. The tacos were incredibly tiny for $26, yes $26 for 3 tiny ass tacos with no sides other than plantain chips. Save your money and do not eat here unless you want to spend $250+ for 4 people to go home hungry and unsatisfied.

we just order a bunch of food for a family gathering and everyone was amazed!!! we want uno más! we've been at the restaurant various times and every time we absolutely love it.

You won't find tacos this good almost anywhere in New Jersey, and for that privilege you pay 8 to 9 dollars per taco. The guacamole is also excellent - for that privilege you pay $19. The tostones - not great, but for eight dollars they make sure to give you 4-5 slices so that you're not over eating. Make sure to get the salsa too. Yum! Unlike other places that give you salsa for free (stupidly), Uno Mas knows to charge almost 9 dollars for three little containers of salsa so that you can really appreciate the value . And at the end of the day, it doesn't hurt to know that you're supporting two white guys in their journey to explore authentic Mexican flavors. Travel is expensive, even in one's mind!

Weird place. Lackadaisical staff. Dirty restaurant walls. Overpriced, mediocre food. if you're craving some tacos or a burrito, this is not the place for you. They try and elevate the food, so none of it is traditional. That's fine theory. All of the food looked good, but none of it tasted good. I spent more than $120 for 2 guests. Go to Sombero Tacoria in Ridgewood. $12 for a tasty burrito. You will be much better off.

Great food, friendly cheerful staff, prompt service and a trendy comfortable space. The fresh squeeze margarita Mocktails with spicy Tajin rim were excellent especially after we added our BYOB Reposado Tequila. Will be back!

Finally a little diverse cuisine in town. Real great menu. Everything tasted fresh, well prepared, and while it had some unique elements it didn't stray away from traditional foods. The mocktails were awesome and the location being one shop away from a liqour store couldn't get more convenient. More upscale than casual so it fits well into the area. A Little pricey but appropriate for the area. Try to make reservations, it's a small place and it does get full for even a Wednesday.

I love this place! It's upscale Mexican, with items like delicious scallop tacos. Very cool vibe, a great addition to Allendale's restaurant scene. We celebrated our anniversary there, and we weren't rushed (we and another couple were there for two hours).

We hosted a bridal shower at Uno Mas. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a special party with friends and family, enhanced by the charming room of the restaurant. Can't recommend it enough for private events!

He was a humble gentleman who went into the basement to get us a sweatshirt that my lady will proudly sleep in. The positive: I comb through previous reviews of restaurants to identify the top dishes before I sit, in hopes of maximizing my overall dining experience. Ordering the envy plate is always my goal. Let's just say I was winning last night at Uno Mas when I was served my "Grilled Double Pork Chop." I'm a big pork chop fan and I'm the guy who orders the pork chop at the steak house. I have to say that this pork chop was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The accompanying salsa verde was killer too. Super juicy and tasteful. I started to enter savage mode when I was gnawing on the bone like a dog when my wife gave me the look. If I wasn't being eyeballed, I would have picked every morsel off that bone. It was that good... The mock-aritas were jam too. The majority of the table ordered several of the "Jalepeño-Mint" drinks and we added our own Casamigos (you need to BYO). There were a couple of "Watermelon Cucumber" and "Strawberry Basil" ones ordered as well and I only heard, "damn, this one's great too..." The constructive criticism: The table was in agreement that while the flavor of the "Octopus Al Pastor" was great, the cook on the meat was off. We all agreed that it would have been better had the chef seared it a little bit more. Adding a little crunchy texture would have elevated the dish. The blue chips and guac were pretty damn tasty, but I felt that the presentation of the guac could have been better, i.e., rather than throwing it onto a small white plate, put it in a small molcajete or at least a colorful bowl. Being in a bowl facilitates chip guac extraction. On the topic of dinnerware, personally, I feel that the introduction of more colorful plates & bowls would add to the overall visual taste of the food, especially when serving such a vibrant cuisine as Mexican. The add-ons: I saw some comments about the restaurant being loud. It did get loud at times due to laughter and storytelling...is this a bad thing? Look, if you want a quiet romantic dinner, this is not your spot. Take the food to go. But if you are a group of 4 - 8 adult friends, this place had a great vibe to enjoy yourself at. This was a very well thought out establishment! The food was supreme and I highly recommend stopping in and giving this place a try! We had the best meal, the dessert was a dream as well. The staff was friendly and we can't wait to come back!

I am giving one star because Allandelle is a beautiful town. I am Mexican, I lived in Mexico for 40 years, and I am a foody. We started with a guacamole and the amount of salt in it made it almost inedible, for $16. My daughters love birria, they have eaten it here in the area and in Mexico always enjoying it. Now they ordered the tacos order (3) with rice and beans ($26). The birria was bad. The rice was over-salted and far from any original Mexican recipe. Same happened with the beans. My husband tried the shrimp, scallop and mushrooms tacos. My husband liked the scallop tacos. He gave a "meh" to the shrimp taco, which I ordered as well and I can tell you, it was so "meh". He said that the mushroom taco was terrible. I can say the same about the taco al pastor, tasted horrible. I gave it one bite and I could not do it anymore. In addition, I asked for salsa. They brought a red salsa, which was made with canned tomato sauce (!?!), which made it sweet and horrible. The pineapple habanero was even worse. It was canned pineapple purée with habanero. I cannot tell you how bad it was. After all of this, we paid $140 + tip + 3% fee for credit card payment. If you like Mexican food, you can find many other decent places in Bergen County for a better price.

Undercooked rice, ice cold guacamole, inattentive service, bland tostones and our table was next to a wall splattered with food stains. Would never go back.

They need to train and educate employees customer services. One girl with piercing were so rude and bad. She refused customers for weekday dinner. I am wondering how the girl treats local customers.

So happy to have this classy mexican food restaurant in town now. You have to try the special cocktails and delicious menu options! Friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Give it a try... you'll be happy you did!

So last night was first time-went for wine tasting dinner. Tasting dinners usually skew the service, more focus on glasses, etc but service was fine. If "high end" Mexican food is a term of art, that's what this is. Tuna tartare was great--fresh, flavorful, good portion size. Other courses (lamb, carne asada) were also very good. Mexican cheesecake with cinnamon was spot on. Flavors are complex and you can tell there is a focus on execution--the hot peppers in the tuna tartare were extremely thinly sliced, used a mandoline or similar--so the overall taste was complimented-not overwhelmed. All in all, would definitely go back. BYOB a plus!

We had the mist amazing bridal shower at UnoMas. The food,ambience and staff exceeded our expectations. Can't say enough about this little gem in Alkendale

Came here Saturday night, the 27th and ate outside. We were initially going to go to the AB&G next door, but had a 45 minute wait and decided to try here instead. The waitress and the hostess were both fantastic and friendly. We went next door to get a bottle of wine and tall boy as they do not have a liquor license. Our waitress Stephanie came out and was chipper, upbeat, and knowledgeable. She talked about the guacamole special, and the other specials. I asked her what her favorite taco was and she said the birria taco. I ended up ordering the masa chicken taco, my mom got the birria taco and my dad got the shrimp taco, and a side of rice and beans. We also got an order of fried calamari and shishito peppers for the table. Everything came out quick and fresh and was delectable. Word of advice, the single taco is on the smaller size so I would suggest ordering two of them. The highlight of my chicken taco was the homemade tortilla it came in. We ordered churros for desert. We will be back, keep up the great work team Uno Mas.

Happy New Year. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. My friends heard Mexican and thought Tex Mex. Far from it. The cuisine is elevated to include choices that will satisfy a variety of expectations. We had the burrata with prosciutto with delicata squash and micro basil. For an entree. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly with charred spring onions and garlic mashed potato purée. The staff was professional and the owner a pleasure to meet. A different dining experience well worth it.
