The 13 Best Restaurants In Waterloo

" Before we start using seductive words like ‘wine’ and ‘cheese’, know that Unwined is closed at the weekend. If you’re currently panic-searching this guide at 9pm on a Saturday, we’re sorry. However, if you’re in the market for a cosy corner to sip chilled red and nibble on fresh, warm flatbread with feta midweek, then this cabin-esque wine bar on Lower Marsh fits the bill. Order a sharing menu for under £40 per person and take a seat in the sweet, little covered terrace out back. Scotch egg enthusiasts, take note—the confit duck take is a slightly spicy, yolk masterclass. " - jake missing, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna

Unwined In Waterloo Review - Waterloo - London - The Infatuation

"Before we start using seductive words like ‘wine’ and ‘cheese’, know that Unwined is closed at the weekend. If you’re currently panic-searching for a restaurant in Waterloo at 9pm on a Saturday, we’re sorry. However, if you’re in the market for a cosy corner to sip chilled red and nibble on fresh, warm flatbread with feta midweek, then this cabin-esque wine bar on Lower Marsh fits the bill. It’s a one-size-fits-all kind of restaurant where 20-somethings crowd around the big group tables by the windows and sip £5 glasses of grenache, while a couple of dapper old gents share the £40 sharing menu out in the secluded back terrace. It tends to be busy so it’s worth booking ahead, and scotch egg enthusiasts, take note—the confit duck take is a slightly spicy, yolk masterclass. photo credit: Alicia Clarke Photography" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

5 Great Places To Eat Near Waterloo Station - London - The Infatuation

"Whether you’ve spent the day working away (repeatedly refreshing Twitter) at your office in Waterloo or have just jumped off a train that cost you more than a flight to San Francisco, wine is a good idea. Let us introduce you to Unwined, a little Waterloo wine bar that has the kind of by-the-glass wine list that you should treat as a Friday night to-do list and affordable bottles that are perfect for date night. It’s casual but still cosy and they have regular guest residencies in the kitchen cooking up small plates and great little snacks that’ll keep your bottle of Beaujolais company. Sadly for anyone who is reading this on a Saturday afternoon, Unwined is closed at the weekend for private hire events but this place should still be on your radar for any and all Waterloo weekday wine needs. If you’re after that all-important Saturday night drinking den ft. crispy halloumi, then Hello Darling is a good shout. Less about the light bites and more about the booze? Waterloo’s go-to kooky pub, Vaulty Towers has got you covered, and The Vaults is an underground live events and bars space that should be at the top of your agenda for a heavy-duty sesh." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Went to ‘Sunday roast with Aidan’ event and it was absolutely exceptional. I have had many many Sunday roasts and can safely say that yesterday’s was the best of my life. Can’t praise every element enough. Congratulations on a very successful event. As an Irish person, I also want to say they were the most excellent roasties. Been thinking about them all day. Equally the wine was amazing. What a combo you both created. Super well done!

Great evening. We tried orange wine for the first time and it did not disappoint. Our host was lovely and very knowledgeable. The only criticism would be the terrace was a bit cold (despite there being heaters), but it is winter I guess. Would definitely visit again. Thank you!

This wine bar as a good selection of wines and a good menu to match them. The charcuterie and cheese board was a decent quantity and paired well. The kitchen closes a bit early, especially if you are on a late night date. The environment and service were decent. Had a great time with friends and recommend it.

Worst customer experience I have ever had, do not go here. If I could rate this a 0/5 I would. I thought Ant & Dec were about to jump out as this was the most comical and awful dining experience I have ever had. I turned up on a Friday night at 7:30pm. My cousin had made the reservation for 3 x people, requesting inside seating, but when I turned up, we were seated in an outdoor space covered in tarpaulin with hardly anyone else there, so I wasn’t overly impressed to start with. The menu was very misleading on a couple of occasions. One being that my cousin had ordered Jukes No 8 ‘the Rose’ which was described as crisp, rhubarb & raspberries but it was foul and tasted and smelt of vinegar which was not mentioned on the menu. But the worst part of the evening, happened to be the disaster we had with the food. Firstly, there was a ‘misunderstanding’ with the butter and we were only brought out normal butter instead of the Stilton & black pepper butter we ordered. I know this sounds measly but it all goes downhill from this point. Secondly, we went to order, and the waitress informed us that all of the small dishes (4/9 total menu) had run out. Bearing in mind that it wasn’t even 8pm on a Friday night, and that the restaurant wasn’t busy, I think that is pretty terrible to start with. We proceeded to order a charcuterie board to share, and the vegan smoked aubergine ragu for my vegan cousin. I had asked whether we could swap the crackers on the board to bread, to be told no by the waitress, without checking with the manager or kitchen, which felt like very poor customer service. The waitress came back a few moments later to ask if we could have cheese on our charcuterie board instead of some of the meat as they didn’t have enough, which I thought was pretty rich seeing as they wouldn’t swap out the crackers, but we agreed. However, the worst bit of the evening was the waitress then said that they couldn’t make the tagliatelle vegan as they used egg pasta, and that it was and had always been a vegetarian dish. My cousin has been to this restaurant multiple times before and had this as an option, has she eaten egg this whole time?! This for me was the final straw. This tagliatelle is stated on the menu (at the restaurant and online, both attached) as a vegan option and the other 2 x vegan options were out of stock. This is completely misleading and mis-selling. I asked if the waitress could ask what the kitchen could make that was vegan but this request was batted away. Therefore, I asked for our orders to be cancelled as there was nothing my cousin could eat. Typically, when we received the bill it still had all the food we couldn’t order and service charge, I had to ask for this to be changed to just our drinks (including the disgusting vinegar one which wasn’t consumed), which we wouldn’t have even ordered if we knew we couldn’t have food. Overall, throughout our time at Unwined Waterloo, the service was more than lacklustre and given all the issues we experienced, there were no apologies, manager intervention or any accommodations. Now in hindsight, we do have to laugh about how horrendous our experience was and my recommendation to all those who have made it this far, is that there are many other places to eat and drink in Waterloo which are more accommodating, affordable and friendly (I would’ve rather had a Greggs at this point). Particular shout out to Pizza Pilgrims who saved our evening and filled our hungry belly’s! Shame on you Unwined. Please update your menu with the correct dietary requirement labels. For reference, I have highlighted in red what was unavailable to order and purple the mis-labelled vegan option.

gorgeous wine, friendly staff who really know their stuff, wonderful food, impeccable atmosphere I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this wine bar. The gameification of the wine of the day is such a fun and interesting addition for wine lovers. extremely reasonably priced for what feels like quite a premium and tailored service absolutely would recommend would go again 1 million times.

I really loved this place. The staff is very friendly, they welcomed me with as much warmth as if I had been a trusted regular. Beautiful atmosphere. Everything else very good and the price was surprisingly… I’m tempted to use a word I haven’t used in a decade, I thought it was cheap but don’t visit London that often, perhaps the neck of my woods is reaching London’s prices. I didn’t drink wine but the wine menu looked very interesting indeed. Anyways, I recommend this place and I’ll try to be back! (Sorry for knocking down your flowers, I want drunk, I’m just clumsy and easily overwhelmed).

We had such a wonderful evening at Unwined in Waterloo. The food was incredible (we literally had one of everything and they were all delicious!) The staff were brilliant, really helpful and made us feel welcome. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside on a lovely warm evening. Would definitely recommend!

We where here when Guest chef, Aidan Mannion was hosting a special event - "Sunday Roast with Aidan". I can hand on heart say that this was the best roast I've ever had! I went for the Chicken, which was succulent and juicy with perfect crispy skin. The potatoes and seasonal veg were also cooked to perfection, all finished off with the most sumptuous gravy ever! My wife went for the lamb option which I was told melted in the mouth. Aidan brings together passion, quality and experience to present on a plate which is not just food, but an unforgettable dining experience. He's going to be a guest here until 24th Nov 24 so I highly recommend you do not miss out on the opportunity to try his food. 10/10 all round.
