Excellent wine bar. Food was very good, loved the tyrokafteri with pita and baked feta were phenomenal. Ambience is fun, not a stuffy wine bar…music is playing, good vibes, lots of groups hanging out having a good time in “lounge” (back room). Also has two person tables for intimate setting (saw several “dates”). Highly recommend.

The bartender/server was very upbeat and welcoming throughout our hours of visit. Reasonably priced at that! Octopus arugula salad was a tad overdressed but the orexi pizza was fabulous. I'll be back!

Delicious - if a little pricey - Mediterranean food. Highly recommend if you're looking for a reliable, upscale good time. Fantastic wine selection, we especially appreciated the old world wine availability.

Unwine'd is a charming beautiful wine bar located in the heart of West Portal in San Francisco. The name itself, Unwine'd, is a clever play on words that combines "unwind" and "wine," which perfectly captures the laid-back atmosphere of this cozy spot. The bar is owned by Dino & John, John was our beloved Orexi restaurant owner. I had my 1st Greece wine in Orexi, that's the time I knew I love Greece wine. Unwine'd had more collections of Greece wines. And last time I went for happy hour, there's inexpensive oysters. Love the deco. Love the vibe. Love the location. I believe you would it as well.

Superb service and food! A Wonderful restaurant with fine dining quality, but relaxed flair. Will definitely be back!

Google
I love the food here. We came during happy hour and had $2 oysters! The Orexi pinsa was yummy, accompanied by the fig salad. IThe service was attentive but not hovering so we could enjoy our food and conversation.

Great place for food and drinks just steps away from West Portal Muni.

My family, including my partner, mom, and elderly grandparents, recently visited, and it was a deeply disappointing experience. Upon entering, I greeted the server Desirée and mentioned we needed a table for five. She told us to take any couch. As my elderly grandparents walked behind us, she became irritated and questioned if they were with our party. I confirmed, and then escorted my grandparents to the bathroom, at which point she abruptly stopped us, stating we couldn’t sit in the back room. I explained we were only heading to the restroom. After my grandma used the restroom, she peeked into the back room to see if the venue would be suitable for my grandpa’s upcoming 80th birthday party. The server kicked them out and harshly stated they couldn’t sit there. When my grandma turned to speak to us, the server rolled her eyes and gave her a mean look. She then rudely asked my elderly grandmother if she was going to sit down or what. When my grandma mentioned we were interested in a buyout for an evening, the server’s attitude suddenly changed, and she became polite. This is not the first negative encounter I’ve had with this server, and it’s evident she has a prejudice against people of color. I refuse to ever set foot in this establishment again and strongly advise others to avoid patronizing this business as long as she is employed there.

Yelp
Five stars across the board! For Food, service and yes even the ambiance. Unwine'd SF is a lively spot to get a great meal and even better tasting wine! I went for the lamb chops and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended. Our server was polite and made some great recommendations as well. Thanks! The only wrinkle in the evening is looking for parking (if you're visiting the area like us) so getting in to the area early is recommended or use public transit. Overall: Definitely on my short list to try again on our next visit. Do stop by and enjoy!

Yelp
Fun date night spot and they have happy hour mon-Fri 4-6pm which included some wines and food! We got wine, oysters ($2 each) and a Margarita pizza!

Yelp
Date: Thursday, May 9th, 2024 Time: around 6:30pm Party of: 3 What: Pre-Dinner Drinks and Snacks *Falcone Syrah ($17) *Leviathan Cab GLS ($20) *Spreads Platter ($20) *Brut Rose GLS ($14) *Bardos Tempranillo GLS ($15) *Amethystos GLS ($18) *Château La Croix Montlabert, Saint Émilion Grand Cru: glass ($20) *Château La Croix Montlabert, Saint Émilion Grand Cru: bottle ($78) *40% Off Bottle (-$31.20) I was meeting up some friends. We were having dinner nearby, but decided to check out Unwine'd beforehand. They got here first and grabbed the couch by the front window. They have happy hour until 6pm which they were trying to make. Unfortunately they were too late, so we didn't partake in their HH deals. I got the glass of bubbles and the last red listed. Both were good. Exactly what I was craving at the time. Tho they did have bottle specials which we did not notice until the end. So if you are getting something that that's included in the 40% off, I'd say buy the bottle. A much better deal since a glass of my red was $20, while the bottle was $46.80. For tipping, I'd be careful of tipping on anything to go. I realized we tipped on the bottle we bought to bring to dinner as well as everything we consumed here. They have those portable CC machines, so it's easy to just hit a percentage without thinking about it. If I got a real receipt, I probably would have written out an amount versus just pushing a percentage button. Good spot to grab some wine. Would love to come back and check out their HH specials. Yelp
Super cute wine bar that has a great happy hour deal! The ambiance is nice, there are tables for a more intimate setting or bar seating. They have a great selection of wines, from reds to whites to rose and more! I went for a glass of white wine - the Lenotti which was a Pinot Grigio. I loved it, it had a subtle sweetness to it, fruity, and not dry. My friends and I shared the Bruschetta Prosciutto which we all thought was delicious. The bruschetta was packed with flavor from the prosciutto and burrata on top as well as the sauce drizzle.

Dawn W.

Yelp
Everything here was great! The happy hour is definitely not one to miss. I had the oyster which were awesome.

Yelp
Lovely wine bar at a very convenient location in West Portal. Food, wine selection, and service were absolutely fab. Officially one of my favorite spots in town.

Sarah F.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time visiting Unwine'd and it was just as amazing at the first. Starting off with a bottle of the house whites and the prosciutto Burrata *chefs kiss* was so great! The server was very nice and checked in with us regularly. It is a very chill atmosphere for a Saturday night. I will be going back

Melissa D.

Yelp
Great ambiance and delicious wine. Low-key spot to hang out with friends for happy hour or on a casual date.. We usually like to get the "Grecco Pinsa" and the charcuterie boards are delicious

Mimi T.

Yelp
We came here around 5:30pm on Saturday. The place was pretty empty but filled up quickly. We picked a Pinot for our first glasses but was disappointed to learn that their tap was not working. We tried two different italian reds and a couple of french wines, all were very good! We were most pleased with the food! Turns out some of the items on the menu were from the Orexi Greek restaurant nearby that that had closed. We got the Salumi and Charcuterie board, the Octopus and a Pinsa. Everything was solid! We would have given this place 5 stars but the service experience was a bit off. Our server Desiree was fantastic. As the place filled up she was running around crazy trying to take care of the guest while the two other staff in the restaurant did little to help her out. One gal was chitchatting about cosmetics while the other person was labeling and pricing wines..something IMO that could be done during downtime. Overall the food and wines were superb so we'll be back.

Krista B.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! This was an impromptu pop-in. The ambience is great. They have an array of wines- old world and new, also a host of food items. Our server was awesome

Chris D.

Yelp
Walked by this spot several times while walking around West Portal. Finally decided to try it tonight. First of all, it's kind of unassuming from the front, but once inside it's beautifully appointed and very comfortable. I'd like to know who their designer is as I'd like to hire them to do our home. Anyway, we visited on a beautiful day and all the windows were open. It was still happy hour and I was glad to see that some of the wines were on tap! We both got a glass of white and got a good pour. Both wines were really good. We also ordered a salad and a margarita pinsa (which is like a flat bread pizza). Both were delicious. Very light and flavorful. Service was good and prices were reasonable. I think we will be back for a visit in the near future!

Divya K.

Yelp
The cutest wine spot! Ambiance-wise a fancy lounge setting on the quieter/cozier side and ideal for casual catch ups and small bites. A bottle of wine served 4 of us each two glasses. The small cheese board pairing was phenomenal and the best decision of the night. My favorites on the board were the garlicky pickles, chocolates, and truffle cheese. It also came with nuts, jams, honey, dates, grapes and of course more cheese.

Ashley L.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate our friend's 80th birthday. We were in their event space which was very cool! Nice modern touches of decor and seating. The food set up was hors d'oeuvre and buffet style with people walking around with the food and cocktails. Food was really great!

James H.

Yelp
In a word... silly. Overstaffed with people that fail to wait on the customers but excel at turning their backs to them while chatting to each other. Happy hour oysters were decent, but the Sauvignon Blanc was unremarkable. Should have had a glass of water. A low class experience at a high class price. Sad

Joan J.

Yelp
Delicious nibbles, but hearty enough for a meal, shared or solo. Friendly neighborhood vibe with occasional live entertainment. Recent visit showcased an amazing jazz duo. Pinsa big enough for two!

Tanya D.

Yelp
This place is FABULOUS!!! From the ambiance, to the service, to their food and wine selection...everything was phenomenal. I loved the new decor since the remodel. They have a spacious area in the back with lots of seating. They even have a tv and will play local games if they're on that night. The food was spectacular. We tried a couple of different entrees and a pizza. Everything was Sooo good! And their wine selection is extensive. We tried a rose and a red, and I really enjoyed both. This place is a great addition to the neighborhood. I don't live near by, but will definitely return to West Portal just to come here again.

Yelp
Unwine'd is a nice addition to West Portal. My friend and I stopped by on a Friday for happy hour, which runs from 4 pm to 6 pm. $2 oysters and a $9 red, white or sparkling wine were part of the HH menu on the day of our visit. We were happy to see a nice selection of international wines and beers offered, along with list of Mediterranean fare. The owners use to have a Greek restaurant down the street and have a nice variety of food on the menu. In addition to the oysters we ordered an Italian flatbread, which came with prosciutto, burrata and arugula. Per the recommendation of our server we also ordered the meatballs, which wasn't on the menu. First the wines. They offer a very generous pour here. I started with the sparking wine, which I found nice and crisp. I then had a glass of the Bryn Mawr pinot noir, which I enjoyed quite a bit. I thought the food and wine were quite good. The prices are a bit on the high side for this area but their portions are on the generous side. However, the meatballs, while good, were $17 for 2, which were split into 4 pieces. Personally I thought they were a bit pricey and most likely won't order them again. The flatbreads were delicious and good for sharing. The oysters were fresh and briny. The staff was super friendly and fun. We were able to have a nice chat with the bartender about their wines. There are two main rooms here, with the first room being the one you see when you first walk in. It had high top tables, a sofa and the bar. The other room is more of a lounge with a few sofas, chairs and tables. The crowd was a nice mix of young and older folks. When we first entered at 5 pm it was mostly empty but by 6:30 pm the place was packed. My friend and I plan to try some of the other wines and dishes on the menu. Parking is pretty easy to find within a one block radius. Some if it is metered and some is free. This restaurant is located across the street from the West Portal Station.

Yelp
A date night, weeknight, and small group gem! Went to Unwine'd for a date night. Food was good, tried a few of the appetizers..the hot pepper feta (with a name I did t even try to pronounce!) was really good. Innovative pizzas and a few glasses of wine made for a great night out. Service, also good - our server found the right balance of leaving us be and getting us what we needed. Very knowledgeable of the wine list and made some great recommendations! Ambiance- the front dining room and bar are pretty casual but the back room with the fireplace and chesterfields is really sweet and had a fun vibe. Even though we were seated next to a relatively large/loud group we were still able to speak comfortably.

Yelp
Really wanted to like it as I had my wedding reception there and my husband recently passed. Came in on a Friday around 4:30 - ordered a glass - was going to have food but couldn't get their attention. Found them a little curt and frustrated as they were tying bags behind the bar. Definitely not welcoming or friendly. Perhaps just a busy moment. May try again for old time's sake. 10 mins tried to catch their attention. Would give 2.5 but that's not an option so let's round it up.

Yelp
So glad I found Unwined on West Portal! It's mom and pop owned and you can really tell with how family oriented the service is! When you first walk in, it's like you're walking in to a warm home but with the perfect aesthetic for a girls night out or date night. The staff is really knowledgeable when it comes to the various types of wine offered. I'm not a huge wine person, but Katerina had the most delicious recommendation (of course I'm blanking on the name now, hopefully she remembers next time we go! Haha!) I got the lamb riblets and OH MY GOD, these are literally to die for. The meat falls right off the bone and melts in your mouth! 10/10 highly recommend, can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Excellent place to unwind and have a drink or two. Nice ambiance. Great wine selection!! Service is good! Please check it out if you are in the West Portal area.

Yelp
I thought maybe I was over sensitive, but after reading other reviews I can confirm - This place isn't friendly. First off, anytime I've tried to sit on the couches I've been told the same thing as others, that they are for large groups. This is typically at 4, 4:30 on a weekday. Every time I've arrived and left and the couches were still empty. During my last visit, I brought my partner and he needed to send a final email from his work laptop. I asked what seemed to be a manager for the WiFi password and he rolled his eyes and dismissively pointed to the wall. I assumed it was posted. Nope. It was a sign saying basically saying "no WiFi talk to each other." Honestly, I respect their decision not to provide WiFi. It's not the vibe they want and that is fine! But don't be weird about it to your customers. If he had said to us "oh sorry no we encourage people to enjoy the wine and chat" it would have been fine. But the whole gesture, attitude, and then walking off before I even turned around was so weird. It wasn't my first off-putting experience at this bar but it will be my last.

Nikki T.

Yelp
Finally a classy bar in West Portal without having to drive to downtown San Francisco. This place has the kind of ambience where it attracts elegance without a pretentious vibe. Love the interior design and the sophisticated swankiness of it all with leather seats and fine gourmet dining. We came in for the happy hour menu and had the $2 dollar oysters- which were so fresh and seasoned. We also shared the octopus and pear salad with their Chardonnay from the HH menu! The staff are so professional and attentive and we'll definitely come back! The owner was very warm and kind, and Jordan, our bartender was a doll. Great place to unwind for sure!

Bobbie H.

Yelp
Fabulous food and atmosphere is great. The staff is professional and great sense of humor.

Erika C.

Yelp
Found this a few mins away from my house! So glad to discover this place bec it was fantastic! Went here for an after work date for a quick drink before grabbing dinner... and stayed longer than expected. Even got a dessert before my dinner lol Food was great and servers were lovely! Will definitely be back!

DontHurtMe T.

Yelp
Haven't been here since Vin Debut closed. First time been here since they changed the ownership, wine and food all good, but the service should change - Staff without happy face should not serve in the bar. Customers do not owe you. After the Pandemic - all restaurants couldn't train staff with good quality services...

Nico P.

Yelp
Was walking through the neighborhood when I was hooked by the aroma of a roasting pig! Unwine'd was celebrating their one year anniversary and I was lucky enough to get a FREE roasted pork sandwich. If things weren't prefect/delicious enough, the service matched the amazing food and welcoming ambiance. As a self proclaimed "harsh critic" I highly recommend this unique and lovely family owned spot for anyone who would likes to be impressed. I WILL be back !! Thank you! Nico

Jennifer R.

Yelp
My favorite things about unwine'd are the back room with cozy leather couches and big screen TV, the $2 oysters on the half shell special for happy hour, and the service staff. Their octopus and other small bites are also quite good with generous portions. I wish they'd upgrade the wine list - it's very affordable but it would be great to see some really big wines added. That being said, if you are a wine drinker and oyster lover, highly recommend for a Warriors game watching with friends.

Mr G.

Yelp
We have been following the owners since Orexi. Although my partner and I were quite saddened by the closure of their Greek Restaurant. We were elated to see that they have taken ownership of their establishment here as Unwine'd SF! The array of wine selections are amazing. The tapas styles food that you can order to pair with some delicious vino provides some great tastes to tour pallet. I love that we can still come and enjoy the new food that still has the greek cuisine flare that we missed from their previous restaurant. The Loufas family - John, Effie, Katerina & Vasili have always been so kind since we met them at Orexi and they continue welcome us like family. I have recently celebrated my 40th Birthday and my partner reserved the private event space. We had an absolutely amazing time. The private room is so beautiful and elegant. Our guests were very complimentary of the food and the wine. They loved the decor and ambiance. The hospitality from the staff was very much appreciated as well. The culinary experience has been elevated here in West Portal since Unwine'd SF opened their doors.

Jeyda R.

Yelp
Unwine'd is my absolute favorite wine bar in the city!! The ambiance is very welcoming and the wine bar is charming, not to mention the wide selection of their great wine list, delicious food, and beautiful presentation. The wait staff was extremely nice, knowledgeable with great recommendations. I love the combination of Italian and Greek cuisine on the menu, and I ALWAYS order their fresh yummy oysters to begin my meal; highly recommended! We recently had a private event & everyone was raving about the food, wine, and the service was delightful and professional. They really made us feel welcomed and provided us with a great experience all around! I highly recommend Unwine'd if you're looking for a variety of amazing wine selection, great food, host a private event, and unmatched service. I cannot recommend this place enough! Can't wait to come back soon!

Kevin M.

Yelp
The wine is always good of course but tonight the food was excellent! Lamb chops were tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly. Margherita pizza was full of basil and delicious.

Megan O.

Yelp
So comfortable and easy so sit and chat! Fav spot to take friends! Great wine selection and the food is amazing! 100% recommend for a low key hang!

Veronica T.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is spot on. Super lush but in a unpretentious way. The perfect place for an intimate date night, a night out with live music, or even a friendly gathering on a game night. Really, it is great for any occasion. The servers all know what top notch service is about and are quick to make wine suggestions or check-in on how you're doing. I was so excited to know they had brought the chef from Orexi over with them! The food never disappoints! There is always something on the menu for anyone and everyone whether you want a quick snack or a whole meal. Definitely the perfect addition to the neighborhood! Give this place a try, you won't regret it.

Letty A.

Yelp
Stopped in while walking off dinner with H, son no. 1 and his S/O. Really nice atmosphere - dark, quiet, with music in the background. Everyone had some wine and we chatted for a bit. Very relaxed vibe, and friendly service. If you have time/not rushed, this is a nice place to take a quick breather.

Ann G.

Yelp
We celebrated a milestone birthday with 20-25 guests in Unwine'd's private room - absolutely wonderful! First, Katerina, the event manager, is fabulous to work with. She gave us great advice about food and drink choices (she really knows her wines, btw). Second, the food and service was perfect. Our guests raved about the food, esp. the moussaka. Katerina and her staff were very responsive, kept food and wine flowing and somehow managed to be unobtrusive while doing so. Third, the private room is really nice, with a classy, warm, and inviting ambiance. Finally (and not to be crass about it), given the superb quality of the venue, service, food, and wine, it was a fantastic deal cost-wise. Highly recommend!

Eryn R.

Yelp
Poured a nice glass of wine BUT...when we asked about the private room in the back, we were told by an aggressive waiter?manager? who literally told our waitress to go because "he's got this"...some people pay $2000, some people pay $15,000. It depends on what you want, how many people, what day of the week, all you can eat. I cant give you a quote. - What? Huh? Is that a sales pitch or do you not want our business? Yuck. Definitely don't want to come here for my private event!!!

J. J.

Yelp
Had the pizza here once so I went in. Got half a dozen oysters while I was waiting for my tiny $30 pizza. The oysters were so old and so bad- I literally had to throw them up. When I told them their oysters were rotten- they just wanted to comp me or give me something for free. I told them I don't need your money and I don't want anything for free, you just need to pull the oysters. One guy behind the bar said"I had an oyster and they were fine". Well- they were not fine. I would definitely not recommend this place and if you go- be prepared to throw up after. This place needs to be shut down!!!

Sai M.

Yelp
This is a long overdue review for Unwined. West portal really needed a nice wine bar and thank god for the old Orexi crew for being Unwined to us. The staff is excellent! The boss man Vasily and his side kick Cat are fabulous. The wine selection is fabulous - they have some authentic Greek red wines! And the food selection is not too shabby. Plenty of vegetarian options. Kitchen staff are awesome too and they customize their menu for us. Overall, the single most best addition to West Portal!

Joe G.

Yelp
Delicious! Great wine selection, warm service, quality food. Had the prosciutto pizza and Greek pizza and both were tasty.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
My first time here was Super Bowl and I had such a great time with my friends. They were offering a few different specials for the game which made it more of a personal experience. The vibes were so fun and it was a local crowd which I enjoyed! This place is family run and you can tell everyone there just wants to have a good time. Kat and Jordan were the stars of the show and made sure service was running smoothly. Looking forward to my next visit!

Chirag P.

Yelp
Unwine'd has become one of my new favorite spots. I'm not a wine guy but Katerina has enlightened me with a variety of amazing wines they offer. The food pairs so well with the wines and all of the servers that were working that night (Jordan, Desiree, and David) all had wonderful recommendations pairings for us. Towards the end of the night I met Vasili and we had a great chat about how the new establishment is going. All in all it was such a great vibe and I'll be back this weekend. Continue what you're doing Unwine'd!!

Katie M.

Yelp
So happy this place is open! Amazing food and wine. Burrata cheese with truffle pearls was incredible as well as their octopus.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Visited today at 4:15pm. Beautiful decor, great food menu and even better wine list. Expansive space with 2 rooms and ample (my favorite) couches and upholstered chairs. BUT poor Bartender Jordan has a very hard job. Apparently, she has to discourage an entering couple (us) from sitting on *any* of the fully available large four (4!) couches in the space. Awkward since the only other people in the entire 2 rooms were sitting at the bar. The place was almost empty. We entered the 2nd room and brazenly sat on the smallest couch there. After our first round, we were asked to move so a party of 4 could switch from their oversized couch ...to our couch; to be fair, the table was a different shape in our area. I asked Jordon if we could sit "on the end" of one of the 2 empty large couches. She - in a time honored skill of her profession - pretended not to hear and seated us at 2 chairs directly in front of the TV and record player. Such a shame. Someone has made a serious investment in this place; there were very few people present but we somehow were made to feel quite unwelcome. As we left we passed the still empty couch in front of the window which we had coveted upon entry. [Owners: pls figure this out. Some well-scripted yet friendly signs on the tables will make Jordon's job easier and patrons happier.]

Tina M.

Yelp
The food, the service, the wine list, the ambience are All so wonderful at this joint! It's so chill, it's family owned, they have love music occasionally and it's just so great every time I go!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Holy cow this place is a must! Brought my daughter in for a few glasses and we shared the burrata, octopus, and a pear salad, definitely recommend. Caterina and Jordan pointed us in the right direction with the wine! We tried the ripasso, a really nice greek cab, and a syrah. Will be back!

Amir M.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of the place and selections of wines. They have live music some weekends and great snacks and plates that pair well the wine of your choosing. Great spot for a date night or get together. Will be back soon!

Michael M.

Yelp
Very strange experience here. My wife and I came in around 4pm. There were only two customers there, at the bar. We asked to sit at one of the several comfortable-looking couches, only to be told they were reserved for larger groups. We said, ok, if the place fills up we'll move to a two-place. After a while, one couple came in and sat at a larger couch, with room for at least six people. When another couple joined them, we were forced from our couch because they apparently wanted ours. We were made to sit in chairs separated from each other with a nice view of electrical cables and a hole in the wall. When we left, sooner than planned, there were still three other large couches available. We felt very disrespected and unwelcome. Won't be back.

Yelp
Best wine bar I have been too in San Francisco. It has a downtown/Euro feel with a Vegas type speakeasy vibe, think Cosmopolitan. The food is probably the best food a wine bar can serve in the city. They use lots of premium imported ingredients that you can taste. Wine is great, heavy Mediterranean influence. The swanky bar area in front with the lit up counter and the ultra lounge in the back, the servers are friendly. Some nights they have live music. What more can you ask for??
