Handmade Italian Pasta Restaurant Uovo Opened in Pasadena - Eater LA

"Uovo, LA’s growing chain of restaurants serving handmade Italian pasta, is opening its fifth location in Pasadena. The restaurant features an 18-seat pasta bar and indoor and outdoor seating. All of the pasta served at Uovo is handmade daily in Bologna, Italy, overnighted to Los Angeles, and priced under $20. The menu includes Bolognese classics like green lasagna and tortellini in brodo, along with Roman heavy hitters like carbonara and cacio e pepe. Uovo also serves a trio of five-course set menus priced under $40 per person that are intended for parties of two." - Cathy Chaplin

Great dining experience. We shared the cheese & truffle tasting menu and it was reasonably priced (about $80 for an appetizer, three pasta dishes, and dessert to be shared by two people). Every dish was delicious. My favorite was the tagliatelle in truffle sauce. There was a bit of a wait time between each pasta coming out, but understandably so as each dish is made fresh. It was fun to watch the pasta get cooked in front of us from the counter seats! The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable as well. It’s also worth noting that Uovo is a no-tipping establishment. They simply add a 16% service fee to your bill. I thought this was an interesting but reasonable policy. Overall, I had a wonderful experience here and would love to return to try more of their menu items.

Google
Delightful pasta in a contemporary setting. The pasta and side dish were really good and authentic. Would like to come back to try other dishes! Appreciate the no tipping policy with a reasonable flat service charge.

I've eaten here few times and have always enjoyed it. Consistently good pasta cooked just the way I like it. I also really like their beef tartare and that they just include a 16% service charge into the bill automatically.

Google
The pasta was perfectly al dente and each sauce was packed with flavor. We went with the Classic tasting menu so we got to try their yellowtail crudo as an appetizer, three different pastas, and finished with Tiramisu for dessert. It’s a great way to try a variety of pastas. My favorite was the pomodoro; it was so full of umami. They don’t take reservations so I can see there being a long wait but we went on a Monday around 6:30 pm and waited about 20 minutes, which wasn’t too bad.

- broken water bottle at the table. They apologized and sent out another bottle, but that had a huge chip at the head of the bottle! + dinner set ups nice, good for date nite. Dim lights. Outside seating was nice. + app was a wagyu beef tartar. Seasoned well but it needed another texture or some greens..something to cut the richness. + crudo was better imo and I dont even like fish much. Good acid from blood orange! Lil spice from the fresno chili. + we got the regional tasting. 1st pasta was chili. Spaghetti with a rich meat sauce! + tortellini with meat in a very rich cream sauce. My favorite dish! + the last pasta dish was a spaghetti type noodle with a lightly spiced tomato sauce and crispy guanciale. This was great too! But probably my least fave of the 3. + tirammisu was good. My friend didn't like it...more for me lol. A lil hit of hazelnut.

Google
Great spot for handmade pasta. They have a good selection of pastas. They don't have other options so expect to just have a bunch of pasta options. We enjoyed our meal. Appropriately priced as well. Parking can be a little tricky.

Google
I’ve been here probably a dozen times. What’s amazing isn’t just that the pasta is some of the best I’ve ever had, not just in LA, but even in New York, it’s everything. I hadn’t been back in months and they somehow remembered my name. If my ex girlfriend paid even a fraction as much attention as Uovo’s staff did, it might have worked out. But then there’s the fact it’s consistently good. Every time, there’s never a dip or bad day, it’s just excellent food and great service. Then there’s the fun part of getting to watch all the chefs cook the food right there in front of you. It was neat watching the entire team work together. This isn’t Hell’s Kitchen, they all got along and seemed to really loved what they did. It’s like a group of friends workings together but they somehow cook amazingly well without fail. That love shows in the food. The fact I get all of this for a criminally low price for what feels like a much fancier Italian restaurant is astonishing. If there’s a wait, don’t worry, it’s worth waiting for.

The service was great and so many options. The pastas are delicious from spicy to creamier. The white sauce with pork was delicious.

Yelp
The ambiance is small yet inviting. Service took a little while to get our food but well worth the wait. The prices are reasonable. They do not take tips but they do apply a 16% servicing fee. I am assuming somewhat similar to Italy. We visited Rome and many other beautiful cities in Italy over the summer and we were craving some good Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe. Both were very delicious and their pastas are received daily from Italy. The pasta fishy were cooked perfectly and did satisfy our craving. My only complaint would be the serving size was not like in Italy and I could have ordered another bowl. So I would suggest to make the portions like we would receive in Italy (Generously). They offer a shareable sample tasting menu but I did see the two people actually having to share the tiramisu from the same dessert dish. Maybe a smaller half-portion for each in two separate dishes... Although, might be cool with your date but if you go with a friend might not be so cool We would definitely return to try the tasting menu. Oh, and be ready to pay for parking.

Yelp
I am sad to write this review since the general consensus about this place was positive and most of the time, it is quite difficult to acquire seating. First time attending this restaurant, the ambiance was great. Low lighting, the open kitchen concept, and the overall vibes of the dining room and patio were fantastic. Off to a great start with the general atmosphere they established. I requested a bar seating because I really wanted to achieve the full experience of the Pasta Bar. Sitting down on the barstool, although great idea, the table was a warped log of which half of was unusable since it slanted far into the kitchen. I had to be extremely cautious with plates and wine/water glasses or else it would have rolled off the edge. Ordered the arugula salad which was simple and elegant. However, it was slightly dry and could have used some cherry tomatoes, or a little bit of red onion to balance out the nuttiness of the arugula and almonds. The two pastas I went with were the Pomodoro and the Bolognese. Pomodoro was bland and the pasta shape did not seem to fit well with the sauce. The tomatoes were exceptionally salty and the sauce overall was heavily salted. For the Bolognese, the presentation was extremely unappetizing. They planted the meat mixture on top of a bed of pasta that almost looked like someone opened a can of cat food and plopped it on the dish. Overall taste lacked flavor and the pasta was not cooked well. I think lovely concept, if its going to be an open kitchen, the line cooks and expo needs to be more energetic. People sitting at the bar will notice the lethargic employees as they tirelessly cook each pasta dish on their tickets. I am not sure if I quite recommend this place if you really enjoy pasta. -

Yelp
The food is really good but the service and and attitude of the wait staff is egregious. First of all, I understand that they have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to substitutions, fine. However, the refusal to accommodate food allergies is shocking. I feel like if there were one area where they should be able to allow a swap or remove an ingredient, it should be to protect the safety of their customers. In any event, removing the rude, slow, and inattentive staff and restaurant's inflexibility from the equation, you are still left with a really solid meal. I feel like that should be acknowledged. The food is worth trying. I have enjoyed every meal I've had there, the ingredients are fresh and the flavors are vibrant. I just wish I could enjoy Uovo beyond putting the food in my mouth, because all you will enjoy is the tasting and chewing of the food. Expect to be mistreated but anticipate the "reward" of a good tasting meal. If that's worth it to you, then I encourage you to try this place.

Yelp
A friend and I were debating what food to eat in the area. While we were deciding, she pulled up UOVO. I have walked past this place over and over again and didn't really give it a second thought. But after dinner here, well, let's say I am a fan. Ambiance: This restaurant definitely has a cozy feel, Not particularly a big space but the open kitchen and large counter space emphasize an at home atmosphere. As an amateur chef, its always a joy to see the kitchen and this was no different, as we were sipping our wine we enjoyed the fragrances and sights of that open kitchen. Plating our food as well occurred in front of us and the staff and chefs where highly accommodating and enjoyable to banter with given the opportunity. Food: We started our meal with the Steak Tare Tare and for our main dishes we chose the Pomodoro and the Ragu. Both Pastas were incredibly well done. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauces melded well with the wine that we we ordered. They do have a tasting menu which I highly recommend if your not sure what to get! But I will be returning here for future get togethers.

Yelp
Came out for a friend's birthday dinner when she said she was craving cacio e pepe. There's free parking for an hour and a half at the lot across the street near Burlington Ave. The space is beautifully lit at night, the outside patio has heaters and greenery surrounding the space. I had the carbonara which was absolutely phenomenal. TBH best carbonara I've had in Los Angeles.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I've been trying to come here for a bit, it can be tricky around dinner time because they don't take reservations, so the wait can get quite long. To get around that I can with at lunch time and it was relatively empty. I've been dying to try their tasting menu (you need an even number of people to do it). My mom and I sat at the bar and did the cheese and truffle tasting menu, which I found out can actually be customizable! The waiter was great and gave us a few options if we wanted to swap anything out. Everything we had was SO good and the portions are perfect! I left full, but not stuffed. I can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Very nice ambiance. Unfortunate that they do not take reservations. We were lucky we went early so there was no wait. Menu is very simple, with a variety of pastas and a few side dishes. We did the cheese and truffle tasting menu. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Sauce was light and delicious fie the tagliatelle in truffle sauce. The pomodoro was great too. The cacio e pepe was way too salty; apparently they used special aged pecorino. Did not like that one at all. Overall our meal was great. Will definitely go back try some of the other pastas.

Yelp
Fantastic pasta, great service, and a warm, inviting ambiance! It's hard to believe they ship their pasta from Italy everyday--the texture was perfect with a great chew. I tried the Cacio e Pepe, which was creamy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The Pomodoro had a wonderfully fresh tomato sauce, and the Amatriciana was a standout--delightfully salty with crispy pork pieces in most bites, which I loved. Beyond the food, the service was attentive and genuinely friendly, and you can tell the staff has a great team culture. The ambiance was cozy, romantic, and perfect for a night out. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This was the worse 'Italian' food I've tasted. I would've had a better meal if I had spent the $300 at the Olive Garden. It started out quite nicely as we were seated immediately and service was friendly. The menu seemed appetizing although I think there could've been more appetizers than offered. Some of us opted in for the Regional tasting menu, and we also ordered items a la carte. Peanut allergy guests be aware! There are a few items that are cooked in peanut oil (including the lasagna) that they have a very small asterisk on, which easily could've been missed if it wasn't pointed out to me. I feel this should be bolder and made MUCH more visible! I found the food beyond disappointing: Yellowtail crudo - this was drenched in olive oil and it made me feel a bit sick Carbonara - the most disappointing item that we've ordered. Pasta was too hard, flavors were way off and way too salty. I ate two bites and that was it. Ravioli di Ricotta - this was a mush. Over-boiled, very soft ravioli drenched in tomato sauce that was also too salty. No thank you. Ragu- the only decent item on the menu. This pasta was cooked nicely and the meat of the ragu had a nice balance with the pasta. Tortellini - salty, but the pasta consistency was good Amatriciana - also salty, I took one bite and at this point, I was over it. Tiramisu - I find it strange that tasting menu guests have to share their dessert off of one cup of tiramisu. Tiramisu is a kind of dish where you double dip with your spoon, so it's disgusting to know your spoon was in your mouth, then sticking back in the sharing dish. Also this was extremely runny and I tasted no crunch to the dessert. It was just a puddle of mediocre cream. As soon as I spoke to the manager, it felt like the service diminished and no one came back to us. However it was a nice gesture that the carbonara was removed from the bill. Also, they don't have any coffee!! Isn't Italy known for their espresso?! Not sure if this is a license thing or by choice, but let's hope that they have a good reason as to why they don't serve espresso. This was very strange. In the greater scheme, I tried it and it scratched my curiosity itch. Let's just say that this meal doesn't encourage me to start learning any Italian any time soon! Will not be back.

Yelp
Pasadena may be filled with pasta options, but UOVO stands out by delivering authentic Italian flavors. One simply cannot argue that, considering their handmade pasta is flown in fresh from Italy every day. I've been here a few times now, and each time has been nothing short of exceptional. The service is attentive and prompt, and the ambiance is elegant and warm, with its rustic, understated decor and open kitchen concept where you can see staff firing up the fresh pasta right in front of you. I highly recommend trying their tasting menus, each of which will yield you an appetizer, three pasta samplings, and a dessert; it's perfect for sharing among two people. I've only tried the Cheese and Truffle menu, which comes with yellowtail crudo, tagliatelle in truffle sauce, spaghetti pomodoro, and Cacio e Pepe, ending with Tiramisu al cucchiaio. You can really taste the handmade quality of the pasta; the texture is where you can really distinguish the difference between them and other Italian restaurants that use dried pasta. My only complaint with the tasting menu is that I wish their dessert portion, which is tiramisu, didn't come served in an individual cup. Because their version of tiramisu is quite runny and not solid, it's not the most optimal for sharing, particularly if you don't want to double dip from the same cup as your dining partner. It would be better if the tiramisu were served in smaller cups portioned out for two individual people.

Yelp
My Favorite Date night spot for 2024 The location & the size of the restaurant itself give off such an intimate dinner setting. We decided to try the cheese & truffle tasting which includes an appetizer, 3 pastas & dessert for $37 per person & it feeds 2 people. We started with the yellow tail crudo. It was light & refreshing with a small kick at the end, which I enjoyed. Our first pasta of the night was the tagliatelle in truffle sauce. This was such a strong opener. It was also my favorite pasta of the night. The pasta was Al dente & perfectly coated in truffle sauce, it was divine. Next, we had the Pomodoro pasta. Which I've never had before. It's a bit hard to compare it to anything I have had before but I'd say it taste like spaghetti sauce. However, it's much simpler, slightly sweeter with true fresh ingredients. We then had the Cacio e Pepe pasta. I was excited to try this one out, it's honestly the reason we decided to check this place out. The pasta was perfect, al dente with the right amount of black pepper, cheese & flaky salt. My boyfriend said it reminded him of pizza which I couldn't disagree. We paired all our pastas with a side of mushrooms which I strongly suggest including in your experience! Lastly, for dessert we had their version of a tiramisu. It was also delicious, I felt as if I were in heaven as I took my last bites. It's a must have! Our bill for two came out to $135 which includes a 16% fee & state fee. They are also a no tipping establishment. The only downside is the wait time. We checked in at 7:15 waited for about 30-40 minutes to be seated. However, the staff were very welcoming & great to watch in action while we sat at the bar side. Our sever was Dina and she was stellar. Uovo is a truly special concept. I would love to come back & dine here once again.

Yelp
Uovo has to be one of my favorite restaurants for pasta. They offer several tasting menu options that serves two people for $37 per person. We generally choose the following option with a bottle of wine. The cheese and truffle offers: - yellow tail crudo - tagliatelle in truffle sauce - pomodoro - cacio e pepe - tiramisu al cucchiaio Uovo shares that their noodles are handmade in Italy and shipped overnight. For anyone who wants a pasta dinner, with an Uovo nearby, this is definitely a good option. Perfect for a casual dinner or date night. Their service is fantastic, but note that they don't take reservations so it might be a wait depending on the day of the week and time. Street parking is available and there is a structure nearby.

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was eating my food in this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking garage for this establishment is located behind Philz Coffee. The parking garage is called The Commons Garage. It sucks that the parking garage charges $2 per 20 minutes. Lame. Thankfully, Uovo validates. But only up to an hour. Parking spaces are pretty wide, so don't worry about your car getting dinged. Just an FYI, the parking garage has one entrance via Shoppers lane. The entrance can be accessed via Cordova St. due to the one-way traffic. The entrance is located behind the PRISM building and across the shopping center. Look for big signs marking the entrance. Food: I ordered the tagliatelle in truffle sauce. The noodles were perfectly al dente. People who know me know that I am 100% obsessed with truffle, so I absolutely had to get this dish. Yes, there were no truffle shavings on this pasta, but the truffle sauce was so creamy, rich, earthy, and nutty nevertheless. It was such a delicious tasting dish. I'm pretty sure they used black truffle for the sauce because the umami flavor stayed with me for like almost two hours. Hands down my number one favorite dish here. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, attentive, courteous, and welcoming. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Yelp
Stopped by uovo for a dinner during the weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the service/quality/atmosphere of this restaurant. Staff is very nice and helpful in choosing your dishes and wine. Got some pasta dishes and they did not disappoint! Dishes were great and had the perfect amount of texture. Portions are a bit smaller than what I anticipated so feel free to order more than what you think. Wine selection is pretty OK not the greatest definitely will be open to coming back. Parking is paid parking across the street in the garage. Recommend booking a reservation prior to going.

Yelp
So my gf & I LOVEEEEEE Uovo. We normally go to the location on Wilshire but decided to try the Pasadena location! Food was good but service was terrible. I think they forgot about us outside and we waited on our second pasta for 20+ minutes (which never happens). Our waitress never came by and I think she forgot to tell the chef to start our second dish. When a different waitress checked in on us, we expressed how we were still waiting on a dish and within less than 5mins the dish was there. AND on top of it they tried to charge us for another dish we did not even order. When we questioned the manager he sort of kept contradicting himself. He explained they added the dish to the bill because it was a tester and our second dish took long because it was put on hold? Maybe we just came on a bad night? It was just a polar opposite experience to the location on wilshire!

Yelp
The tasting menu seemed enticing but certain dishes were more worthwhile than others. They were packed during dinner time but I was able to nab a seat facing the kitchen. Each dish was paced perfectly and I didn't have to wait longer than a few minutes after finishing my plate. Note that no alterations are allowed. I opted for the Regional tasting menu which included 5 dishes. *Battuta di Carne: my favorite dish of the night. The meat was incredibly tender and the cheese provided a bit of saltiness. It was room temperature. *Ragu: the meat was tender but the dish tasted too dry. The sauce leaned towards the oilier side and it needed more acidity and body from tomatoes or wine. The pasta had a good mouthfeel although it was a bit over al dente. *Tortellini: very simple. The broth was simply salty. The tortellini were soft and filled with the slightest of salty cheese. Overall this leaned heavily on the salt. The amount of tortellini I received was also minuscule. *Amatriciana: the most disappointing dish as there was such a strong smell from guanciale. This had the best ratio of sauce to pasta but I found the sauce to be quite sour. The sauce needed to be seasoned better and whatever made the dish reek needs to be removed. *Tiramisu al Cucchiaio: Uovo's infamous rendition of tiramisu. This would be an interesting twist for those who enjoy a more coffee and hazelnut centric profile. I prefer the classic tiramisu format as this version was too liquidy. Notably the portion sizes were very small so I still felt hungry afterwards. Despite the tasting menu saying that it would serve 2, it was definitely not enough for even 1. Although the overall concept was good, the food across the board was unimpressive. Besides the Battuta di Carne, everything was imbalanced in flavor and texture. Considering no modifications were allowed, I would expect the flavors would be at least enjoyable. The chefs were great to watch but I wouldn't come back for the tasting menus nor the pasta dishes I tried.

Yelp
Fantastic pasta. If you don't know what you wanna get, I would recommend doing one of the tasting menus so you can try a little bit of everything. My friend and I requested a vegetarian option for the starter on the truffle and cheese tasting menu, and the team was extremely accommodating, swapping out the Crudo for the arugula salad. Nothing special about the arugula salad, but at least we got some greens in our meal with carbs lol My favorite of the three that we tried was the tagliatelle w truffle sauce. Cacio E Pepe is usually my favorite, but the flavor of the truffle sauce won this one out. Pomodoro was a solid, classic red for all your tomato sauce lovers out there. It's a beautiful spot in Pasadena to check out. We didn't have a reservation, but it was pretty easy to walk in and grab a table on the patio on a weekday evening for early dinner. Will be back

Yelp
I've eaten at a couple other locations and continue to love their food. I've always ordered the tasting menu and would recommend you do the same. It's a great way to try several pastas without getting too stuffed. This time we ordered The Classic: starts with the appetizer which is a Yellowtail Crudo to share. So colorful, bright and fresh with a burst of flavor. Then each of us got our pasta dishes. Pomodorini e Basilico - lightly seasoned fresh pasta with fresh yellow tomatoes. Although the portion size was larger than the next two pastas, it was a great start to a delicious lunch. Vongole - good amount of clams in a white wine sauce with some fresh herbs. Pomodoro - this one was my fav of the 3. Although there is no meat the tomato sauce had a elevated taste with just the right amount of saltiness from the Parmigiano-Reggiano Lastly we shared the Tiramisu al cucchiaio. This was light but satisfied the sweet tooth. We sat outside in their patio style area which was super chill. Service was prompt and very attentive.

Yelp
Lovely place where they bring in noodles from Italy Delicious food and we got the set menu Where you get to try 3 different pastas ( divided for two people) And they had tiramisu at the end Recommend getting it if you're not sure what to have. We tried the classic set and it was delicious We did street parking, not sure if there is a lot Friendly service And nice romantic ambiance with cute decor We sat outside with the heat lamps for the cold Recommend trying it and would go back

Yelp
Pretty solid 4.5 stars! Got here around 5:15 on a Sunday for an early dinner and got on the waitlist. The wait was about 15-20 mins for a table (they also have bar seating). They have tasting menu but we opted for a la carte. We got: cacio de pepe, carbonara, ravioli de carne, mushrooms (side dish), and tiramisu. They told us all the pasta were shopped from Italy overnight so super fresh! The portion is definitely on the smaller side but everything was tasty! The carbonara and cacio de pepe are probably my favorites! Highly recommend the mushrooms - such umami flavor! Definitely get the tiramisu - super creamy/foamy!

Yelp
This place is amazing! The service is excellent. Food is phenomenal and the ambiance is great. Our server was pretty knowledgable of the food and wine. We wanted to try everything on the menu. The reason for the 4 stars is the process to get a "reservation", which they don't take. We arrived at the restaurant and we were told it would be about 30-45 minutes later. There is plenty of open space to site, but the night was chilly so we opted for a drink at the Spanish restaurant. After an hour we closed our tab and walk back over to the restaurant only to find out that we still had to wait for a "few more minutes". Since they do not take reservations they should at least have an online wait list or something like most restaurants offer nowadays.

Yelp
I'm new to SoCal and honestly found out about Uovo after seeing Mary from Selling Sunset mention it LOL But it totally lived up to the hype! I tried the regional menu with the yellowtail, and it was sooo good. Each pasta dish had perfect texture and amazing sauce. They were all really simple but really good. The tiramisu at the end was probably the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back

Yelp

Yelp
- ~ * Licking the tiramisu cup * ~ - We got the CHEESE & TRUFFLE & added Carbonara * Yellowtail Crudo 4/5 * Tagliatelle in truffle sauce 5/5 !! (the best pasta) * Pomodoro 3/5 (pasta w/ red sauce nothing special) * Carbonara 3/5 (i'm not a carbonara person but when I mixed it with the pomodoro it tasted pretty good!) * Cacio e Pepe 1/5 (the sheep's milk cheese was too strong for us so we added a bunch of lemon and parmesan to mask the taste) * Tiramisu 100/10 !! (just trust me lolols) Even though they have a no tipping policy, the service was attentive and nice.

Yelp
Uovo in Pasadena has quickly become my favorite pasta restaurant. While I enjoy both locations, this one stands out for its relaxed and less crowded atmosphere. The vibe here is incredibly chill, making it a perfect spot for a delightful dining experience. I highly recommend the tasting menu, especially the classic selection. It features all my favorite pastas, each dish a masterpiece. The Pomodoro is a 10/10, bursting with flavor and simply divine. The Vongole is another standout--light, perfectly seasoned, and not fishy at all. And the Pomodorini e Basilico, with its delightful little yellow tomatoes, is light and delicious, a true highlight of the menu. I find myself looking forward to dinner here and thinking about this place often. The outdoor patio is beautiful, especially at night, adding to the charm of this cute spot. The customer service is generally good, with friendly staff, though there's always room for a bit of improvement. However, this minor point doesn't deter me from returning time and again. Uovo in Pasadena is a gem, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Yelp
Food is so delicious. Definitely recommend trying the tasting menus. Me and my friend did and we were so full at the end. We checked in on a Wed at 8pm, no reservations are taken, and within 30 mins we got a txt message that our table was ready. We opted to sit at the countertop and got a nice bottle of red wine. Ambiance is great with dim lighting. Not the best place for a large group as seating is limited with the countertop a couple of tables inside and a small outdoor patio. I would definitely recommend and come back

Yelp
Great vibes where you can spend some time with friends or on a date. It's really pretty inside. We came on a Tuesday night and it was relatively busy, we waited about 10-15 minutes for an open table. They don't take reservations. While we waited, we were able to order a bottle of wine and drink it at the patio area. They couldn't bring us the bottle, but they brought us the filled wine glasses. When we got to the table, we ordered an assortment of pastas and beef tartare. The beef tartare was delicious! I very much enjoyed the Pomodoro pasta and Tagliatelle with truffle sauce. I didn't enjoy the Vongole as much. The pasta took a while to come out and we were hungry. For a party of 5, we ordered 4 pastas and 1 appetizer and were still hungry. We debated on ordering more pasta but didn't want to wait a while again.

Yelp
Food: - carbonara: 5/10, okay sauce, too salty and doesn't really taste like carbonara - tortellini: 5/10, salty sauce - pasta noodle is cooked to perfection - arugula salad: 5.5/10, good dressing but not much going on - beef tartar: 4/10, terrible please skip, no seasoning and shaved cheese on top - tiramisu: 9.8/10, fantastic! Must eat - small portions as per other reviews Service: - different staff checked on us multiple times - everyone was constantly running around - it felt like fast food at the pace our food was coming out - had to catch the attention of our staff for the check Ambiance: - public parking in the back ($2/20 minutes) - loud and casual

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening and the wait time was about an hour and a half with 24 parties in front. Opted for takeout which would be done in exactly 20 - 30 min sharp. (I forgot the exact time) They don't text to notify you, you will have to show up once the time given is up. When ordering takeout the cacio e pepe, carbonara and tagliatelle ai carciofi are unavailable. I ordered the Vongole since it had some clams while most pastas were just pasta by itself. Since this place was so hyped up I had high expectations for the food. The vongole was alright, and kinda underwhelming. It mostly tasted like white wine. I do appreciate the fresh pasta they use. I also ordered a side of broccolini and that was the star of the show. The garlic flavor was divine. I recommend this. A positive is that they give out really high quality silverware even for takeout. That was a nice surprise and really added to the ambiance and fine dining experience. There are many tables and chairs outside so I ate there. They are a no tipping establishment and automatically charge a 16% fee to your check. They validate parking. Even after the validation I paid $8 for parking.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The pasta is so fresh (flown in daily from Italy!!), the pasta sauces are light and flavorful, and the prices are so reasonable. The "Taste Sampler" is the best choice for a first-time visit. You get an appetizer, 3 different pasta dishes, and then dessert for $45! All the dishes are cooked to order, prepared quickly, and are plated in front of you if you are sitting in the bar table around the kitchen. They do not take reservations, so plan on waiting for a bit, but it is definitely worth the wait! It has a really quaint seating area and cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be back to visit one of the 5 restaurants in the LA area!

Yelp
Came back after my first visit three days ago. We were seated at the bar, which was a fantastic experience. Chef Tony was extremely welcoming and informative. Despite being so busy and elegant with his cooking, he was able to share tidbits about the dishes as well as indulge us in lovely conversation. We ordered both the regional and classic yet again (but did get the veal broth instead of the very cheesy alternative for the regional). The broth was exquisite and tasted so homemade and comforting. The previously too salty vongole came out perfectly this time. The Pomodoro was also much better this time around. Well balanced and delectable. Chef Tony recommended the panna cotta and it was incredibly luscious, perfect texture, light yet silky. The hint of balsamic really elevates the dish. And the tiramisu remains a must.

Yelp
Came to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends. Everything was delicious, i ordered broccolini , we all shared all the plates and the pastas were delicious. Their truffle pasta was delicious. All the pasta were light and fulfilling at the same time. Can't wait To go back, just wish they would take reservation, bc when you have kids at home you can't afford to waste 1-2 hours of waiting for be seated.

Yelp
I am rewriting this review after having a conversation with a manager who explained the reasons behind the things which I had found frustrating as a hangry customer. It's super clear that the decisions made at UOVO are meaningful and that the management are deliberate when choosing their recipes, ingredients and choices. I had questioned the importing of pasta, and I am glad to have had this explored with me as I can appreciate that pasta using ingredients of a quality that's hard to import is a valuable part of UOVO's experience. When I visited, I had a fairly basic pasta dish and I think I should have taken my time to experience the flavour more (which I didn't do as I was drinking wine at the time). I would like to revisit to eat more mindfully now that I know the story behind their recipes. The ambience was great inside, though a bit dark, and the bar setting was very cool overlooking the kitchen. That said, the fact that you can't reserve and have to just wait sitting outside ruins that because, by the time you're in, you're hangry and annoyed. I do appreciate that the restaurant has a reason for not having reservations, but perhaps have a plan in mind for if you're having to be on a wait list for a long time.

Yelp
First time at UOVO for lunch and it definitely did not disappoint. I love the casual fine dining vibe of the restaurant. We sat at the counter and got to be up close to all the cooking action. Service was quick and staff were helpful and attentive. My friend and I got the Cheese & Truffle tasting menu for $37/person. It came with yellowtail crudo, tagliatelle in truffle sauce, pomodoro, cacio e pepe, and tiramisu. Everything tasted delicious, but my favorites were the yellowtail crudo and tagliatelle in truffle sauce as they were most memorable. The yellowtail was so tender that it melted in my month. It was also fresh without any fishiness. Tagliatelle in truffle sauce was so flavorful and buttery despite the presentation being boring with just noodles and sauce. Portion sizes were just right for a comprehensive tasting of the popular items. Can't wait to come back next time to try other pasta dishes!

Yelp
Wow! You know your pasta will be authentic when the restaurant ships them overnight from Bologna! Delicious pasta cooked perfectly. Recommend the Truffle Cheese set and I think can be shared among 3 people if you add another side or appetizer. We ordered the artichoke pasta as well and we ended up taking some leftovers which is fine :) Tiramisu is not the traditional type with the dough base being a bit harder for my preference. They validate parking for the structure in the back but it's only 50 percent off the rates. It's $2 per 20 min normally without validation I believe. We like the patio area also has heaters. There are bar seating and some interior tables. Overall, a solid addition to the Lake dining scene and we will return.

Yelp
Absolutely enjoyed our meal here! Everything was done just right- the texture of the pasta, the sauces and their seasonings and flavor! Service was also good. Staff was attentive. We've been a few times for lunch and dinner and is easily our little date spot.

Yelp
This pasta was so delicious! We ordered one of the pasta courses from the prix fixe menu and had a delicious ragu, tortellini that were exquisite and a tomato and beef pasta that I was too full to eat, but made for delicious leftovers. We also ordered the broccolini (wow!) and the pasta carbonara... lots of leftovers! The appetizer was a beef crudo that I'll be thinking of for days to come, so good and so fresh. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which made sense for 6pm on a Tuesday. They don't accept reservations. Plenty to do in the courtyard and plenty of places to sit if so inclined. We ate outside and it was so comfortable. Our server, Dina, was knowledgeable and helpful. We were attended to by multiple staff and it felt attentive without interrupting. The guanciale (sp?) added saltiness to the dishes, some of which seemed a bit too salty. The broccolini was so good!

Yelp
Friend and I did a tasting menu and it was delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking for some good pasta dishes. We sat at the bar so it was fun to see the chef's at work.

Yelp
Super nice and small restaurant. Pastas are flown in daily from Italia! Yay for them. Without question pastas are very good if perhaps a tad overcooked ,but still very very good. Love the service and attention to you. The tasting menu for 2 offers a good survey of the dishes made here. My fave? The truffle pasta. Don't expect the plate to be covered in truffles-- you're not in an Italy --but you get very good essence of truffle. And if you want the plate covered in truffles im almost sure you can if you pay the price. Love the service and the desire of the staff to be present and helpful. I love that the customer service is very good here. There is no reservation system- a major downside-- especially in the heat of summer in Pasadena. And some Iggies were here not savoring good pasta but taking fotos. Lol. Tip: Bar seats become more available sooner than tables. Prices are very good if not cheap and because Uovo is a pasta joint, there are not a lot of pure protein plates. All in all still a great pasta destination. End of Yelp.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! All of the pasta is handmade it Italy daily and flown in. Now, this might not be the most environmentally friendly way of doing things - but I was able to eat the pasta. I can't eat pasta at many restaurants due to extensive allergies and I was glad I could eat here. Knocking 1 star off because the wait staff repeatedly said something was safe for me and when I insisted they talk to the kitchen before I order, we learned it wasn't. Better allergy training could easily bump this up to 5 stars.

Yelp
My husband and I just went tonight for our anniversary. This was our first time. We absolutely loved it. Staff was great. Very nice. The ambiance was nice. Even though it's kind of tight it didn't feel that way. The lighting was good. Now to the food. It was absolutely delicious!! Sorry I didn't get lots of pics. I tried to stay off my phone and enough the experience. We had the lasagna (fantastic), ravioli di carne (sooo good), cacio e Pepe (freaking delicious!), and both desserts (both so good). We also had the broccolini (worth getting!!). I feel like the menu was well priced. It's not overly expensive. Average plate was about $17-18. We will definitely be back. Great for groups and dates. My only suggestion is to have a few more drink options! Great spot! (Hubby is leaving a review too!)

Yelp
Delicious Italian restaurant known for its pasta menu. Tried this place for the first time and loved how tender the pasta was. There was serv staff around constantly so our next course was never a wait which was nice. The decor was lovely and would highly recommend for a date spot

Yelp
I had a lovely night out with my friends here. The atmosphere is very laid back but cute. One of those places that you hangout with your friends and/or have a date night. The pasta here is fresh, tasty, perfectly seasoned. Pasta is cooked al dente, you get a great bite and chew. The sauce coats every single strand of noodles well. It's one of those restaurants that you look forward to coming back again so you can try other options. It seems like there is a tasting menu, might have to do that next time. I ordered ragú which is delicious but slightly greasy for me so I asked for some chili flakes and it balanced out the oil well. One of my friends ordered carbonara which was creamy and flavorful, the chew of the pasta compliments the cream harmoniously. For creamy pasta lovers, this is a must try. The other friend ordered arrabbiata, and my goodness, if you love tomato based pasta with spice, this is a dream dish. The aroma of the tomato and the spice worked so well in addition to the amazingly cooked pasta, this was probably the best out of all three we ordered. The sides, roasted cauliflower and mushroom were also a MUST. The roasted cauliflower deserved a highlight, it was so smoky, so flavorful, and so crispy. The only downside is we sat at the bar and the high stools were not movable so I feel very uncomfortable sitting elbow to elbow with stranger but kind of far from my group. So if you want a lovely gathering, I recommend to wait for the standard tables.

Yelp
So good. The pasta here is fresh and the flavors are all great. The cacio e pepe is definitely the move. Side mushrooms were also super flavorful. 16% on all checks but no tipping.

Yelp
Came here for dinner, and definitely recommend getting seating inside. Even at the bar is cool since their wooden log bar gives a cool, chill vibe and people in my party would agree too. Food is fairly priced for upscale Italian but not overly priced which is nice especially in this economy. Can't go wrong with ordering a main dish or even their preset 3-course options. From the 3-course the yellow tail for appetizers was really good and all their pastas are great too. Not to mention for dessert I oddly don't like tiramisu but this place won me over. Also, staff here is super on top of it and knows how to help give good recs for everyone's tastes too

Yelp
Amazing time at UOVO Pasadena as always, sitting at the bar you can tell the flow of the kitchen is solid and seamless. Our dishes came out in Adequate time after each other. Shoutout to Dinah, Fabricio, and Will for the amazing service and hospitality. Easily one of my fav UOVO locations after Santa Monica. Always get the regional tasting and add a truffle tagliatelle on the side. 10/10

Yelp
The first time we tried to eat here it was a 2hr wait on a Fri night (no reservations, first come first serve). The second time we went for lunch on a weekday and we were seated right away. Service was great, beautiful decor inside and outside. The food was only ok. The pasta is handmade from Italy. There are 3 tasting menus: the classic, cheese and truffle, and the regional. The regional is the only one with meat so I tried that one. Every dish was too salty for me, I couldn't eat more than a few bites each dish. I was very disappointed. My husband who likes salt enjoyed his meal. The salad and dessert were good.

Yelp
Such a cute spot, the aesthetic is beautiful. We ordered a few dishes and I wish I remembered what we ordered!!! 3 out of 4 were absolutely amazing. The last dish was meh and we were sad we ended with that one. But now if I go again I wont remember which ones we loved. I use Yelp also as my reminder of my favorites and non favs so I know what to order again. I do know whichever had pancetta was the way to go. You also cant leave without tiramisu.
