Get Nerdy With ‘Star Wars’ at This Pop Culture Ice Cream Shop - Eater Vegas

"Located in the same shopping center as the Meepleville Board Game Cafe, Up In Scoops is now open and scooping all manner of frozen confections in a retro pop culture ice cream shop. You can visit to gawk at the display cases full of comic books, action figures, and VHS tapes from the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s or play any of the vintage arcade machines. You can even buy the vintage arcade machines. Up In Scoops, located at Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, serves ice cream, shaved ice, gelato, and sorbet. Its mixtapes, with names like Oreo Speedwagon, Don’t Call Me Swirly, and Animal Cracker House, combine ice cream with sauces and mix-ins. The Saturday Morning Cartoons blends vanilla ice cream with Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereals with sliced banana and marshmallow sauce. Some of the shop’s decor is interactive. A background for He-Man features a little Orko character and a sword that customers can pose with. The Star Wars display has a life-size Han Solo, frozen in Carbonite. The entry to the bathroom is flanked in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles displays. Up In Scoops at 4624 W Sahara Ave is open daily from 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m." - Janna Karel

Did shopping and seen this spot, at first I was just coming in tot take a look but the kids decided they wanted ice cream. Upon entering the whole spot is a blast from the past, real 90s vibe. I loved the style, they had a variety of items from milkshakes, gelato, ice cream, sodas, water, nachos, and shaved ice. My oldest ordered a cinnamon French toast shake which he gave a 7/10, my youngest ordered one scoop of cookies and cream which okay. There is a charge for using your debit or credit card which I discrete care for. One scoop of ice cream was almost $4 and shakes started at $6. Nice place to Reena's but I probably would've buy here again. Only one person was working ... most likely the owner and there were other people there so, there was a little bit of a wait.

I walked into my childhood. Loved the place. It’s a blast from the past. The staff was so awesome and friendly. I spent most of the time just looking at everything. we had ice cream specials . Fruit was fresh and delicious, I’m so glad we found this place. Definitely worth stopping by Especially for My Gen X

Google
Went for some over the top ice cream and it did not disappoint! Also just had a great experience, the owner was super friendly and the decor was decked out in 80s/90s memorabilia, so cool! Don’t forget to look 👀 in the bathroom too! Will go back again!

Walking into Up In Scoops is like taking a time machine back to when life made sense — you know, when your biggest problem was rewinding your VHS tape before Blockbuster fined you 50 cents. This place is a vibe. It’s dripping with 70s, 80s, and 90s nostalgia — neon arcade signs, cassette tapes on the walls, and posters of icons who raised us better than some of our parents did. The menu is a beautiful disaster of childhood dreams. Where else can you pair a Flintstones Push Pop with a sprinkle-topped banana split and not be judged for singing “Ice Ice Baby” at full volume? I half-expected to see Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski sitting at the next table sharing a sundae and relationship drama. And the ice cream itself? Oh, honey — it’s a righteous explosion of creamy, colorful goodness. I had a scoop so good I swear I heard faint echoes of the “Saved by the Bell” theme song playing in the background. The staff? Radical. Super friendly, decked out in retro gear, and somehow able to smile patiently while I asked if they had any Dunkaroos hidden behind the counter. If you’re looking for a serious trip down memory lane — with the bonus of brain freezes and sugar highs — Up In Scoops is where it’s at. Just don’t blame them when you leave singing Spice Girls at the top of your lungs and craving a Tamagotchi.

Google
Great themed ice cream shop. Very liked how passionate the owner is about the unique history of the ice cream. The ice was nice size portions. You can dine in and enjoy the all the past history decor. The vibe is just right for locals and tourists. Located near shopping and other food places.

Google
We had fun! great place. The menu offered a variety of things, and it was greatly priced! They have some coin machine games and then connect 4 on all the tables. An ice cream shop worth checking out !!

Google
If you ever had to throw away boxes of things that were precious to you as a teen, you may have considered the likelihood that one day someone will want to put all your stuff on display in a museum. Well, someone decided they would put their stuff on display in a place even better than a museum... an ice cream shop! This place will take you back to the 80s and 90s! They serve a bunch of ice cream related dishes, with clever names referencing all the hottest movies, etc from back in the day. The sundaes are creative and delicious. They are carefully hand crafted so be patient. While you wait, look around and experience life as a kid in the 80s!

Yelp
Super cool place for ice cream for the kids and the adults who enjoy a fun place to see and hang out. Truly old school place with plenty to see . My daughter and I enjoyed taking pictures, eating ice cream , playing Pac-Man , and playing connect four. Tasty ice cream, sundaes with awesome toppings and shaved ice snow cones. I enjoyed the blast from the past!! I'll be back again . They even have cool 80s video games. Close to the LV Strip, near the palace station and close to a In-N-Out burger. Family owned place, with awesome nice welcoming staff. Thumbs up experience

Yelp
An ice cream dream! The choices are endless and the ambiance is totally awesome definitely the best bathroom I've ever seen too. Spoke with the owner for a little bit and she's the sweetest!

Yelp
I was craving some ice cream and my husband found this spot and I'm glad we stopped by. The decor was all nostalgic 80's decor, games, magazines, shows and movies. I didn't have a clue on what to get and the server suggested an ice cream that was so amazing!! I wish I ended up getting another scoop lol. I took some pics of the ninja turtles stuff they had bc my husband is a huge fan!!
google avatar

Yelp
Little one wanted some ice cream and this was the closest one in the area. Definitely 80 vibes! The wall was covered in with a lot of different posters and most were also for sale. They have the Pac-Man and donkey Kong arcade game but only took quarters. Also the tables had games of connect 4 to play while you waiteShe ordered the mint gelato with sprinkles ( of course) in a waffle cone. I had A peanut butter and vanilla milkshake. Her mint ice cream was great and had a bunch of chocolate chips. The shake was good and not overly sweet. It is a smaller place with limited seating but get in and cool down!

Yelp
What a total blast from the past!! I love the 80's! The owner was super nice. My husband and I shared a banana split. It was a large serving and was very yummy ! You can choose your ice cream flavors. This stop was a spur of the moment after an appointment on this side of town. We were not disappointed!!

Jax P.

Yelp
The employee was rude to a 12 year old and with sass with attitude. So rude for no reason just give the kid a large cup

Yelp
Love this new ice cream shop. Love the theme and decor. They have arcades, star wars memorabilia, etc. They also have posters for sale. This shop is small with just a few tables. Unfortunately, all tables were occupied when we arrived so we just ate our desserts inside the car. Their menu is extensive. Whether you're in the mood for ice cream, gelato, sorbet, shave ice, milkshake, or float, they have it all. They also have a good selection of sauces and toppings available. My friend got chocolate gelato. It was rich and delicious. I got the Mango-lorian sorbet. It was refreshing; exactly what I needed to beat the summer heat. Customer service was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. Will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Drinks, service and vibe are all here. The milkshakes are sooo rich and delicious. I could have hung out all day here. There was nolstsgia everywhere for me! The workers were super friendly and I could tell they just loved their shop. 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dessert and was pleasantly surprised by the consideration and care of the staff. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday and they took it upon themselves to put a birthday candle in his order. What a thoughtful gesture and a nice touch! The nostalgic decor is entertaining and funny and there are a few arcade games, too. Thank you for the sweet birthday surprise!

Yelp
We were craving ice cream on this warm day and Up In Scoops has been on my list so we decided to check it out! It is located in a big shopping plaza with lots of parking. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and we were taken away by all the decor inside! It is a 70s, 80s & 90s themed shop which we loved! We were a little overwhelmed with the menu because there are so many options! They have everything from ice cream to milkshakes and even shave ice! The girl went over the menu and also recommended her favorite which was the banana split. My daughter ordered a Strawberry Cheesecake gelato and I ordered a scoop of Rocky Road in a waffle cone. My husband couldn't decide and passed this time. While waiting we walked around and everything brought us back to our childhood days! There are even arcade games to play! There are posters for sale as well. There are a few tables and some games. Very cool spot! We took our ice creams to go but next time we'll eat in!

Lonnell W.

Yelp
Great 70,80,90 theme. Great banana split. Played connect four as I wait for ice Cream.

Yelp
This little hole in the wall is great! Retro deco and music. Fun staff. Fantastic creamy ice cream, thick delicious shakes and wonderful sundaes. What more do you want in an ice cream shop? I'm glad we found this place. We'll be back!

Yelp
Up In Scoops was an unusual ice cream parlor. The ice cream was ordinary with average flavor. Large helpings apparently explained the high price. I had a Banana Split. It was colorful, large with mounds of ice cream, and way too much to eat for two people. The sauce flavors were typical and average. The Split was nothing great...I could make it at home. The real draw of UIS was the interior decor. Drawing on the uniqueness of the 80's & 90's, there was an abundance of games, music and people on exhibit. Crammed into every space were memories of days gone by and the joy they inspired. Background music is era correct. Looking for the occasional trip back to your youth? This is the place! Looking for tasty or exceptional ice cream? Go elsewhere.

Yelp
My daughter and I were craving some ice cream. We were close by and I yelped "ice cream shops" and this popped up. We walked in and were wowed by the facility. It's very retro! Talk about a blast from the past! They had movie posters and tv posters from the 80's and 90's. They also had magazine covers from the 90's from Teen and Bop magazine. They even have the original connect 4 games sitting on the table so you can play while you eat your delicious ice cream. On top of that, there's also a claw machine, a Donkey Kong arcade machine and a PacMan machine too! Very fun experience. Now, for the ice cream my daughter just got a plain vanilla and I just got a butter pecan. BUT there are so many fun types of ice cream combos that you can get, even some that look like noodles! I promise, when we go back, we will be a little braver and try something out of our comfort zone.
google avatar

Morgan B.

Yelp
The staff were beyond friendly. The iconic 70, 80, and 90 theme hit the nail on the head. All of us had a blast. We will definitely go back and try all the other fun flavors. The cocoa coloa wars felt like an explosion in my mouth from the pop rocks and was delicious.

Yelp
I've driven by Uo In Scoops for the past year thinking it was maybe a basketball jersey shop...I know...I KNOW! I should have just double checked and would have been able to experience their amazing treats even sooner! It was after work and I had been having a rough week so I ordered 2 things. I ordered one scoop of Salted Caramel Toffee ice cream and tried ordering an Orange Creamsicle shaved ice but the lady who was helping me let me know they were sold out. She suggested I try it in Strawberry. The ice cream was good and creamy and had little toffee bits but my favorite item was the shaved ice! I'm not sure what kind of machine they got inside but this shaved ice was second only to the shaved ice I've had in Hawaii. It was so soft and fluffy and had such a great texture. I stopped myself from eating it too fast that I could enjoy the experience longer. OMG!! I can't wait to go back and get the orange creamsicle one!!! If I would t have gotten there like 15 mins before closing I think I could give more insight on ambiance but it was lonely when I went. They do play old rock music and there is lots of comic book and 90's memorabilia on display and for sale. Pretty dope! Thank you!!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Wow! Such a neat restaurant! We randomly stopped in because we wanted ice cream and we're totally blown away by the pop culture time warp we were transported to! So much awesome 80s and 90s collectibles all in one place! We ended up spending at least 20 minutes before ordering just taking in everything. There are so many unique flavors to try! I got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream and it was absolutely delicious. I devoured it before taking a photo. 100% will definitely visit again, especially since it's in the same parking lot as Meepleville- get your board game and ice cream fix all in one plac

Yelp
Much like The 80's Cafe , (located on the East side of the Las Vegas Strip) Up in Scoops is a fun little place, to enjoy ice cream and other treats, service is as good as can be expected, the food is fine, decorations are awesome fun. UP IN SCOOPS only has a few tables, seating is for about 8 people only. It needs / deserves a larger dining room.
google avatar

Lana D.

Yelp
It has collections of the 80s and 90s items but not in organized fashion. They charged us for credit card use and also asked for tips although everything is over priced, the kitchen is hidden and they don't offer sample! So we don't see or imagine the ice cream till we pay!! Weird. The ice cream tasted average.
google avatar

Jet C.

Yelp
A great spot to cool down and enjoy some good ice creams and milkshake. I've never been here before so I have no sense of nostalgia but the place looked fun and inviting nonetheless. There are functioning arcade games to spend some time in and plenty of spots for a tiny corner ice cream parlor to walk around and explore. The menu is fun and playful and the milk shake was great. Service was also helpful and fast. If I have one complaint it'd be that the lids used for the milkshake cups with whipped cream aren't suitable together because it just caused the milkshake to drip out the sides as it melted; my husband got one and all the whipped cream just spilled out the rim.
google avatar

Cerin M.

Yelp
This is such a cool place! My daughter and I were craving ice cream and I wanted to try something new. The ambiance is full of nostalgia and memorabilia! I'm an 80's/90's kid, so this was so much fun for me! My daughter enjoyed it too! She got a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of vanilla with a few toppings. I got the chocolate peanut butter mix up. Everything was delicious! Not too busy and not over priced!
google avatar

Cristina G.

Yelp
What a fun place! We were in the area and in the mood for ice cream after dinner so we decided to check this place out. Immediately upon entering I was taken back to a great time of music and fun. All the memorabilia and pictures are authentic and classic. They have 3 video arcade games and my kids loved the Donkey Kong game. The service is fun & welcoming too. The guy helped us decide some fun flavors but really they have all sorts of options to have as a treat. The ice cream toppings are made to order so you can have whatever you're interested in that makes your taste buds happy. Once you have your treat you can also play connect 4 at these unique tables that were laminated with magazine covers. I had forgotten I use to read these in the grocery store as a kid LOL! So Fun! and also don't forget to check out the bathroom. It's clean & decorated with all sorts of classic movie pictures to bring back memories of some funny scenes. Go check it out for yourself and be transported to a great time!

Yelp
The Shave ice at the place hits ! My favorite is probably the cola wars or the north shore. I've been wanting to try their coffee milkshake but I always end up getting a shave ice. The prices are fair and sometimes the wait can take a little long but man is it worth it especially on hot ass day.
google avatar

Trevor H.

Yelp
Loved this place. First, the ice cream and gelato are good. But that's not why I love it so much. It is a blast to the past for GenXers. Even our kids loved it, probably because we have subjected them to so many 80s movies. If you love the 80s, and 90s, and ice cream (or the tasty mint chip gelato) then it is well worth your time. Plan on staying for 30 minutes to an hour to take in the museum of 80s treasures, and to play Galaga.
google avatar

Kendrick R.

Yelp
Love the vintage stuff inside! The ice cream is also quite good! Great place to go and see some retro 90's and early 90's stuff.
google avatar

Joe F.

Yelp
What a spectacularly decorated place to grab an ice cream cone. The service was impeccable. The selection ranges from ice cream cones to gelato to even shaved ice. All of that, and that's not even the best part. The most impressive thing about Up in Scoops is the nostalgia an 80s kid feels as you walk through the door...from he-man and his power sword and a grey skull mural to multiple Star Wars fandom merch, and even a Han Solo in Carbonite, all ready to be taken pictures with. As you venture to the bathroom, you'll pass the turtles and bebop and rocksteady and so much more. Enough spoilers, get in the car and head to Up in Scoops immediately and enjoy some ice cream on a hot afternoon. Well done! I can't wait to come back! One request. I didn't see a he-man inspired menu item. May I suggest a sour shaved iced called "I Have the Sour!"
google avatar

Gambit H.

Yelp
Found this place while going to tj maxx. This has been open for about two months now. It's an ice cream shop with 90's decoration. I enjoyed looking through all the nostalgia. They have about four sit down tables. Will enjoy coming back during the summer for a treat.
google avatar

Denise L.

Yelp
If you're looking for a time capsule in Las Vegas, UP In Scoops is the place to be! The ice cream here just explodes with awesome flavors. They have a wide array of different types of creams like gelatos, ice cream and shaved ice! Don't forget the dole whip! Come enjoy their outta this world atmosphere, where the staff is always fast fun and friendly !
google avatar

Aleina C.

Yelp
I happened to stumble across this I've cream shop and I have mixed reviews. Walking in the decor is awesome. The price was decent. It is currently 111 degrees and the AC Was not working. I've cream took about 15-20 minutes for one scoop. I can say that they definitely have great presentation but the ice cream was mediocre at best
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Loved the feel good vibes from the staff they're awesome and explained everything on the menu which is pretty big. We tried the banana split, strawberry cheese cake ice cream, Oreo milkshake and some yummy shaved ice. Not only is the theme 70's, 80's and 90's they incorporated then together perfectly. A great selection of treats with many options. I hope they are around for a long time!
google avatar

Ivonne C.

Yelp
Their menu is big but not confusing, really good flavors and creative combinations. I'm not big on ice cream so I like it when they have flavors already paired up. My favorite is their cola wars, I picked it for the shaved ice I was a bit displeased with the ice cream at the bottom but it works so well! I trusted the process and I guess I don't dislike ice cream, I just don't know how to make it good, but they do! I want to try all their other flavors but I can't help coming in here and not picking my favorite so my best bet is bringing people in so they can try different flavors and I can mooch of off them it's a bit sad when other patrons use words like mediocre to describe a place like this, especially because you can clearly see all the work and love that goes into it! There's so much to look at and it's a time capsule that you instantly fall in love with.
google avatar

Margaret T.

Yelp
Cute place with so much memorabilia and photos to take with your kids. We loved all the ice cream and shave ice selection. It was all delicious. The staff are so nice and amazing service.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Banana cream Gelato was delicious. We stopped in for sweet treat as we were in the area. The place is small but the flavors are good. We both ordered the banana but both of us really liked it. I'd def go back & try other flavors.
google avatar

Jocelyn B.

Yelp
One of my favorite ice cream places now ! it was my first time and I was explained the menu. Not only was the service amazing but the atmosphere is extremely fun. it's great to see what you can spot. We got two ice creams, the taste and presentation were great. Definitely need to come back.
google avatar

Liberty L.

Yelp
This place is awesome for ice cream and for throwbacks ! The service here is great and the place is such a unique place. 10/10 would recommend

Deb G.

Yelp
Milkshake was delicious. So happy I came across this place randomly. You'll be surprised, the inside is not what you expect from the outside.

Efren L.

Yelp
Best place to grab a cold treat. Absolutely love the decor. Takes me back to my childhood. Must visit if you are in town. Will be back every trip. Thank you.

Robbie E.

Yelp
Had a great time here. Saw it recommended on reddit, so I checked it out blindly. Super fun atmosphere with loads of nostalgia. I'm not sure if I got lucky and there were extra credits in the games or they're set to free play but I got to play a couple rounds of Area 51 while I waited for my ice cream which was rad. Really good selection of flavors / toppings / styles. Very reasonable prices. Definitely a place I would take friends or family to. Great spot for a date night! Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Londa D.

Yelp
This was my daughter and I first time coming to this establishment. Thanks to Radio Shop Show, we were made aware of the Establishment and my was we in for a treat. The 70's 80's 90's theme was everything. Great customer service...the restaurant was clean, great ambience. I would recommend this ice cream shop to all . Thanks guys for fresh pecan praline and strawberry cheesecake with wafers.

Mia Z.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The customer service here is top notch, every-time I come in or order from here I always experience the same 10/10 service from them. Not only is the customer service great but the ambiance is so welcoming and unique, they've got posters, video games, collectables all around the room with a seating area in the middle. It's definitely a trip down memory and an experience within itself. Apart from the great service and ambiance, the real star of the show is their ice cream menu. They have so many unique flavors and you can do pretty much anything with them. My favorite is a chocolate banana milkshake but their rainbow sherbet is definitely something to give a try. My absolute favorite part of this place is their unique names for their ice cream, give them a try, it's an experience you'll never forget!
google avatar

Yelp
Helpful and informative staff, fantastic décor that inspires 80s & 90s nostalgia, and tasty and creative treats. A must do experience for ice-cream and pop culture lovers!

Yelp
Very cool & yummy place in Vegas to check out! They have a variety of different menu items to choose from. I tried the cherry shaved ice and it was good!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute nostalgic ice cream shop. You can even get dole whip. The owner used to run Buy Backs across the street. I hope they stay around. I love themed places.
google avatar

Gaby G.

Yelp
Loved this!! So much detail in the decor and the strawberry shortcake hit the spot. Well balanced flavors and not overly sweet. Great service as well!

Yelp
90'S BABIES!!! YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! The decor will bring back memories! The ice cream was delicious and we're glad we found this place right near our house. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
This place was awesome!! So many options in the ice cream, dole whip and Gelato. The music is great and there is alot to look at. I recommend everyone to check it out and they have some retro video games.
