NYC New Restaurant Openings, December 2024 | Eater NY

"A palatial, roughly 7,000-square-foot Chinese restaurant led by former Uluh chef Xueliang Yu, aiming for a grand, large-format dining experience in Tribeca with an expansive footprint and elevated, chef-driven Chinese cooking." - Emma Orlow

Upon The Palace - Review - Tribeca - New York - The Infatuation

"In Tribeca, Upon The Palace is a new upscale Chinese and sushi restaurant, from the team behind Uncle Ted’s, a Chinese restaurant in Greenwich Village. It seems to have mostly round tables— so it might be potentially useful as a group meal spot. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

It was just wow! 🤩 The salmon was incredibly delicious so tender and flavorful, it literally melted in my mouth. The wine paired perfectly, and the cocktail from the bartender was a whole separate love story 💛 Everything was beautifully served and tasted amazing! The vibe was super cozy, and the view from the window made it even better. I truly enjoyed every moment. Definitely coming back! Thank you uponthepalace ✨

I had such a great experience at this restaurant! The food was outstanding—every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care. The drinks were sweet, refreshing, and so well-balanced that they paired perfectly with the meal. On top of that, the service was exceptional. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Between the great food, delicious drinks, and amazing hospitality, this place is definitely a spot I’d recommend and one I’ll be returning to.

Went there to celebrate my bf’s bday. Everything was amazing. The food and the customer service was a 10/10 along with the drinks. Our server Johnny was amazing, and Kevin was great as well. They both attained to our needs and had great recommendations. Definitely will be coming back again!

Such a wonderful sit down restaurant to eat in! Delicious and flavorful drinks and food options! The bartender delivered top notch service as well as the hostess. Excited to try other dishes next time my friend and I enjoy a meal!

Went for a co-worker's bday lunch. We were the only ones there and no one came in while we were eating. The food tasted good except for the short ribs we didn't expect them to be breaded. Also they didn't allow is to modify any food options so we ordered random food items and shared. I loved the Walnut Prawns although expensive it was my fav dish. The lemony cream sauce was amazing and didn't make them soggy. Not sure if I'd go back but it's worth a try if you're in the area and want a quiet place.

Had a wonderful meal here. The Peking duck was a standout item and absolutely delicious. Our server Laurent was very welcoming and friendly and made our experience memorable. The live jazz show in the basement was also a wonderful surprise. Overall a great dining experience!

Yelp
After spending the evening at the Muse paintbar, we needed to find a quick place to eat, knowing that there were snow squalls on the road and it was super cold outside. With the time nearing 9:30pm, we were lucky that this place was open and willing to seat us. First off, this was one of the fanciest Chinese restaurants I've ever seen. Very elegant. We ordered two things: Edamame Sizzling tofu with mixed vegetables The tofu and veggies were quite satisfying. The edamame was fine, but not the best and quite a lot to finish between the two of us. Then again, it was also quite late in the evening. Overall, quite a solid Chinese restaurant in the area. Especially if you don't want the standard takeout.

Yelp
The service was excellent at dinner, with waiters attentive to our needs and cognizant of refilling water which was appreciated. The food was also very good: Calamari: 4/5 served with garlic chips and cabbage which was a little too much but the calamari itself was fresh and not greasy Xiao long bao: 5/5 Half Peking duck: 3/5 great portion and the skin was extra crispy however it was really really greasy Sesame chicken: 5/5 probably one of the best sesame chicken I've ever had - it was fresh and crispy and the sauce was not covered with sugar like most places Lychee peach tini: 5/5

Yelp
Solid new Asian spot in TriBeCa although a little pricey for what you get. Appreciate that there's some more modern twists on Chinese classics. We really enjoyed the soup dumplings and the truffle fried rice. Also recommend the mapo tofu lunar new year special

Yelp
Wonderful new Asian cuisine restaurant in Tribeca! Had not heard much about it but had walked by it a few times and decided to give it a try. We went on a Saturday evening and even though it had opened only recently, the restaurant was busy and lively. We started with the Shanghai Pork Wonton and the Chicken Egg Corn Soups - both were very good and really hit the spot on a relatively cool evening. We also had the King Salmon Tartar as an appetizer and it was excellent. For our mains, we had the Pan-Seared Foie Gras, Walnut Prawns and Foie Gras Fried Rice - all nicely prepared and presented and all terrific. The only issue we had was that there were too many dishes we wanted to try - will have to come back. John our server was very helpful and friendly as was the rest of the staff. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a lively, classy feel. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Upon the Palace is a great new Asian restaurant in Tribeca. The space is beautiful and the service is very good. Their cocktails are also excellent with a decent wine list. The sushi is good. Although it is high quality and well done, it is nothing special given the amazing sushi options in the area. The Chinese food is truly outstanding, creative and delicious.

Yelp
Dined in a few times and tried take-out. Menu is Asian fusion and has a lot of classic "Chinese restaurant" favorites, but this place is more than a little bit nicer than any of the other similar restaurants you'll find downtown. The space is really well decorated and has a great vibe, the staff is polite, and the food is consistently great. Really happy this place has opened up in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Food was good overall. Service was an issue. Was rushed to order immediately. Then took 20+ min for martinis. Sushi very fresh but was falling apart. Rest of food was ok but nothing special - a bit disappointed because it is a beautiful restaurant and has potential to be great

Yelp
I live across the street and noticed that this opened recently. Finally decided to try it on Sunday night and I was not disappointed. The ambiance is great and they have a nice little bar area. The food is definitely the star of the show, there is a wide menu which makes ordering fun and means you can get a little bit of everything. We got the soup dumplings, hero roll, half Peking duck, and foie gras fried rice. Everything was amazing. The service was definitely a bit slow but I imagine they are still working through some kinks. Overall we will definitely be back!

Yelp
have given this restaurant a try 3x and that was enough. The sesame shrimp has batter that makes the shrimp look bigger, but the dish is tasteless... It comes with 2 tiny pieces of broccoli and the chicken lo mein has virtually no chicken in it. The spring rolls are not crisp and flavorless.. the bill was $81

Yelp
Great new addition to the Tribeca restaurant scene! The atmosphere Saturday night was lively and crowded, but never felt overwhelmingly loud. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our specific seating requirements. The pork dumplings were standard, but the half Peking duck was crispy and flavorful and the seafood pan-fried noodles came with lots of delicious shrimp and squid. The standout dish was the Lunar New Year Special of the mapo tofu with filet mignon - WOW! Absolutely delicious with the perfect amount of spice. I hope this becomes a menu staple.

Yelp
service is 5 out of 5 .... the food was alittle lacking so it's not all super spicy it's like american spicy ... then there was jap food ? idk man .... the spicy beef was very very dry. their lobster didn't have a lot of flavor . let's just say it's just very very american ....

Danielle R.

Yelp
The chicken fried rice tasted like we were eating soy sauce. There was barely any chicken. It was $32. Friedman's is better for half the price. Delivery is also faster. Grand Marnier prawns were grotesque and drenched in flavorless goop at $41.00 if you're looking for good Chinese food go elsewhere. If you're looking for overpriced Chinese food with a scene go to Mr. Chow! This place is pathetic and they think they can charge what they want being in Tribeca. Good luck!!!!

Yelp
This just opened in Tribeca and it's already full of happy eaters. I got a huge takeout order tonight and it was really really good. Like, reminded me of Chinatown good. Beef was tender, vegetables were fresh, it wasn't too salty. I'm simply thrilled to have this in the neighborhood.
