Seriously one of the best group activities I've ever done. Not only is the act of axe throwing a thrill, but the staff makes the experience unforgettable. Jimmy was our coach, and he was super helpful, a great teacher, focused on safety and success, and made everything fun! I would highly recommend coming here for an amazing time.

Came out on a company trip for "friendly competition". It was however more fun than I was anticipating. The staff was wonderful and did a great job coaching everyone. Building was clean with a good atmosphere. Wanna have fun? Wanna chop wood? Wanna throw axes.... I said DO YOU WANNA THROW AXES... Good, you should.

Perfect idea for a get together when you’re not sure what to do! Axe throwing occurs in 2.5 hour blocks. Instructors and great and a little friendly competition is fun with friends/co-workers. It can be chilly in there so dress warm and in comfy clothes!

This place was fun as we went for a work function. The lady at the front desk area was super condescending because my singnificant other was wearing flip flops. Extra rude for no reason. I was able to enjoy myself but probably won't be taking any friends or recommending the place due to the attitude of the staff. It's not that hard to be nice you run an axe throwing joint.

The best time throwing axes I've ever had. Of course it's the only time I've thrown axes but that's not the point. This place rocked, great staff, organized and full of lumberjack awesomeness! A must attend venu!

Staff was extremely funny and serious at the same time. They care for your safety and want you to have a good time also! Can't wait to go back with more friends!

Came here with a group of 4, including myself, and surprisingly had a great time. Axe throwing has been around for years, but I just had zero interest in it. With friends in town and a lack of activities to do during COVID times, axe throwing came to mind as something to do as a group. Making a reservation for the 4 of us on the website was easy. And they only require you to make a deposit equivalent to the cost of one person's ticket. It is recommended in the email confirmation that you arrive 15 minutes earlier, so they have time to go over the rules, etc. Unfortunately, we were running a little late, and did not get there 15 minutes early, but were right on time for our reserved time slot. Upon arrival, we were told to wait as they were in the middle of preparing another group to start axe throwing. 15 minutes later, an instructor explained the rules to us, and got us going. The instructor was super nice and helpful in assisting us with our techniques, and time flew by. They never made up for that extra time lost in the beginning which bothered me a bit. Overall, axe throwing was more fun than I expected, but definitely not something I see myself doing regularly.

Don was the best!! So much fun, great personality & a great coach! We did this as a team building and had a blast. BYOB & food!

Urban Axes is the best! I came here a few years back for a company holiday party and since then joined a league and it's so much fun. It's a great way to unwind on a Wednesday night during the workweek. Everyone I've met here is so cool, and the coaches are great- especially Coach Brian.

Pro: It's like going to the gun range, but without the steep ammo prices! A day at Urban Axes was the event I never knew I needed, but am so glad that I experienced! Friendly front-service, amazing tutelage from on-site experts (thanks again, Coach Kennedy!), and....well.....you get to throw axes at targets! This BYO beer/wine/food event is a great group activity; they easily accommodated our party of eight via reservation. I definitely will return with a group for repeat business... Con: BYO beer/wine = no hard alcohol allowed. Perhaps it's fair to not want a group of whiskey-filled axe throwers on your premises?!?!?!? I'm just saying though... :) Bottom Line: Make a reservation and heave a hatchet today!

This place was awesome! We went with a group for a work event. There were 13 of us so we got 4 targets. They put us all the way in the back which was awesome because we had a lot of space to ourselves. The coaches Mike and Kevin were awesome. This place was so well run. They teach you how to throw and keep score which was great. We ordered pizza from Franco's and Brought our own alcohol. It was a great experience overall and perfect for events.

I never thought axe throwing could be so much fun. John was really great at explaining the games, how to throw and he even kept score. I highly recommend!

Can I Axe you a question? Sadly, that is the best axe pun I could come up with... Luckily, poor puns won't interfere with Urban Axes hitting the mark. My first experience here was a Yelp Elite Event, which was awesome. My return was for a team builder of epic portions. Up and down a friendly and attentive staff. Throwing can be a bit of a workout, and at least for my team, a bonding experience. You're probably going to suck at first. Their Axeperts are patient and could help even a poorest of targeters (myself) land at least a single bullseye. You can bring your own food and/or drink, with is great for keeping team building costs down. Ask them questions, design the event you are looking for, and get throwing is the only other advice I could give!

Great place, great fun. And Lynn was great! Would totally come back and have her as our coach again. She was aces!

The first time I threw axes here I knew I had to join a league. I've been throwing in league for several years now. It's always a good time. Coach Brian rocks.

We came here for a birthday party and had a blast! The staff does a great job of teaching you proper throwing techniques, and making sure your games run smoothly. Alcoholic beverages and food aren't served at Urban Axes, but you are allowed to bring your own. Forgot to bring your own food/beverages? No need to worry, there is a beer & wine store down the street and plenty of local spots to order food - so you don't necessarily have to bring all your consumables with you. I would recommend Urban Axes for pretty much any occasion, and I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Philly.

I have been to a lot of corporate outings, and none compare to my visit to Urban Axes!! I work for a bank with a lot of nerdy number crunchers...Needless to say, I wasn't sure what to expect when we landed on axe throwing for our annual outing. But boy did I underestimate the fun and friendly competition to be had! Theis, Logan, and Mike Quinn were absolutely wonderful hosts! Not only were they great axe-throwing coaches, but they also got us to loosen our ties and encouraged some friendly competition. I can't thank them enough for such a wonderful night! We started off with throwing lessons before determining the top 6 axe-throwers in the group with three-round face-offs. The top 6 played a single elimination tournament to determine the champion. We were there for three hours and everyone had plenty of opportunities to throw! The best part was that everyone who didn't make the tournament was still engaged, cheering on their coworkers to go for the clutch or spitting some friendly banter in their backswing! I've never seen my coworkers have so much fun together. We had beer and tacos brought in, everyone got a koozie, and the winners got T-shirts! Thanks again for such a great night and we will definitely see you again next year!

Embrace your inner lumberjack and get your booty over to Urban Axes. If you're not a native Philadelphian, the "New Kenzo" neighborhood might be a bit daunting, but it's totally worth the venture. If you're not the athletic type, you'll still have tons of fun. The instructors are awesome, and help even the most uncoordinated human hit the target. I cannot recommend this place enough. Also, BYOB for all you alcoholics out there, have a beer and throw some axes, what more could you ask for.

Fun place to sharpen your axe throwing skills or having a team event. We had our office team building event at this location. The entire check in process was very smooth. They take plenty of safety precautions to ensure you have a good experience. It's a BYOB so bring booze. They provide a fridge to keep your beer cold. The coaches are very patient and a lot of fun. I'm sure they were cringing at my axe throwing skills but they kept giving me tips and pointers till I finally managed some bulls eyes. All in all, it's a super fun place.

My friends were visiting me from NYC for my birthday so I knew I had to find something worthwhile! I'm so glad I decided to celebrate at Urban Axes and I would recommend it to anyone willing to listen. You get a fridge and a table for all of your drinks, make sure to bring cups! It's BYOB and I definitely recommend bringing food as well. Our coaches really made the whole event. They were funny and encouraging and never made you feel bad about not being the best axe thrower. The whole experience really made me want to join a league and I will proudly wear my Urban Axes shirt around.

Love this place! Super reasonable prices, awesome and helpful staff, chill atmosphere, good background music, and fun times! Axe throwing is a cool activity for a date or with friends, with just two or a group. I've only been here during covid and masks stay on and they're following safety protocols. The instructors are really friendly and give good suggestions to improve your throw while also not making you feel bad when you (read: I) still suck. Definitely worth a visit!

So much fun! I didn't even know that throwing an axe could be fun, but it was! My friend organized and reserved the large private group area that's right by the front door for a friend's birthday. We had 18 people I believe ( give or take) and so we got two lanes with two instructors and we had the area with a fridge for all of our byobs. I think its insane that you can drink alcohol while throwing a hatchet but hey, so far it seems like its working for them. What I liked about the experience is that in addition to the instruction, we all rotated turns so it wasn't constant throwing all night. The coaches were very upbeat and constantly cheered us all on to do our best, which is great because I sucked. I was second to last in the competition that I didn't even know was going to happen. But I didn't feel like I sucked because when I did something good, or got a bullseye, they cheered me on. I wish it was in a different area, which I know isn't something that they can do anything about, but if they branch out I would love to try to get my work to do a social outing there. But it worked really well with my friends and I think with planning in advance, we would all go again.

Well... a) Because why not. b) Because axes are the new darts ( isn't darts for wimps?!) c) Because you may want to build some zombie-thrashing skills to survive the apocalypse. 101 Axe-throwing at Urban Axes: - Throwing axes (hatchets, technically) is simply like throwing darts, but with axes. I'd say like darts on steroid. - Competition: One 2.5 tournament (6-24 people) runs for $35 per person and includes one-to-one instruction- by fully trained coaches, and equipment. Booking a group tournament event is highly recommended. Urban Axes a hot spot and always busy. - Walk-in: One hour walk-in session (2-5 people) for $20 per person. First come, first serve. - League: If you want to be an axepert, consider joining 8-weeks league ($120 per person.) Facts: - Urban Axes, located in East Kensington, is America's first-ever indoor competitive axe-throwing venue. - Urban Axes is a BYOB. Seriously! Eat food, drink beer and throw axes - no hard liquor. - Urban Axes is great for groups, parties (bachelors and birthdays etc) and even first dates. - Urban Axes is cashless facility. - Axes are provided. However, you can bring in your own axe. Make sure it is NATF-compliant. - Minimum age is 21 years. - Closed-toe shoes are required. Sounds pretty serious, right?!! Nah. I joined the 2017 Red League (Season 2,) and I enjoyed every moment of it - even though I was knocked out of the playoffs. F.U.N! Five and Half Yelps.

This was a fun night out and we would definitely do it again. place has a cool basic vibe, very basic which added to the aura. the decor was all about axes and used up targets that create a special place in a building from before the turn of the 20th century. Its a BYOB place and they do not accept cash for anything The staff there seemed very mixed, we had the chance to observe some of the coaches be very laid back and "coaches" while others where on power trips and made participants know that they were in charge. Weird but whatever, we had both types over the course of the evening and did not joke with the trippy ones. Saw a very diverse crowd, younger and older, male and female of all stripes. Some guys wore suit and tie, but most were in jeans it looked like everyone ( and it was packed) was having a good time and I highly recommend it

Throwing axes and BYOB. This is a must check out place in Philly!! You can either walk in during walk in hours or reserve a spot if you are coming with a large group. If you are throwing axes for the first time, you should definitely try it first during walk-in hrs. $20/hr/ person. But with that said, it gets packed and you may potentially have to wait a few hours until your time slot. The other option is to book a time slot for a large group, which is a bit more pricey ($35 per person) but you are at least guaranteed a lane for your group for about 2 hours. My friend and I went for walk in hours on a Thursday night. Since walk in hours start at 6, I came at 5:45 and luckily we were the first ones there. A coach walked us through the entire art of throwing axes and let us compete with each other after we were more comfortable. What an unforgettable ( + safe) experience!!

Im obsessed with this place!! What's not to love throwing an ax at a target for fun. My hub and I decided to do a Sunday Funday and channel our inner Viking. I called in advance because there are walk-in times and days reserved for parties only. We went Sunday at the noon opening. Gal behind the desk checking us in was super cool, knowledgeable, and friendly. She had us sign waivers on mini iPads and took our $20 pp/per hour. She then set us up with Phil our coach. Phil was awesome he gave us great instruction and helped us correct our form and he also kept track of score. If you get Phil as a coach consider yourself lucky! Overall this was great fun...I'm going to go raid a village...meh...probably just my fridge.

I wonder what the parent figures of the proprietors of Urban Axes thought when their spawn exclaimed unto them, "I'm quitting my day job so that I could open an establishment in the heart of hipster Philly where people can throw axes, hatchets, and the like, at large pieces of plywood... also, they can drink while doing it!" I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if such a presentation didn't inspire confidence as to the viability of the business plan... but here we stand... and here I sit, writing a review about the place, with nothing but praises for the place (I really hope it's around to stay). Not located in the most charming part of town... and the actual facade of the facilities isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it kinda makes sense (in it's own strange way). They don't accept cash (they will stress that it is a card only establishment... it is the "way of the future"), which is a modern concept that serves as a humorous juxtaposition to the wildly archaic activity of ax throwing (as far as the combination of the words "ax throwing" sounds as the words escape your mouth). The activity itself is a whole hell of a lot of fun, if not to the point of being so simple an idea that it's almost infuriating (both when you think to yourself, "why didn't I come up with the idea first...," and when it comes to not having the ax stick in the target every single time). Initially I was having difficulty finding my center with the recommended two handed throw for novices... eventually my instructor (who was god damn awesome) suggested trying the advanced one handed throw, which while he exclaimed wasn't for everyone, could work for me; lo' and behold, the axes started to stick to the targets... hell, throw a few precision bulls' eyes in there and everyone took to thinking they could replicate my natural mastery of the one handed throw (poor deluded fools). At the end of the day, this makes for a fun (albeit unexpected) activity to enjoy with a large group of your favorite people. Give it a try... if you don't enjoy the ax throwing component, you can always drink enough to convince yourself that you're having a blast (as this place is also BYOB)... wonder what kind of insurance this place has...

Came here years ago when it first opened for a YEE and was just here last Saturday for a friend's going away party. It's a little more developed than I remember from last time. Our instructor was super fun and congenial! She was really helpful and pointed out something I was doing wrong that we immediately fixed and made me actually start hitting targets. Still BYOB and there's plenty of tables and benches to chill while your friends are throwing. I think it was about $35 or so to play. Strange that they charge you AFTER you play, though. Overall, I had a good time but if I had to pick I'd prefer Bury the Hatchet. It's much brighter there and there's several different axes to choose from, whereas here, it's just the one. Which I guess isn't too bad if you're trying to perfect your form.

Went to urban axes for an outing with my office folks and had an amazing experience. This is a great idea for an activity for a medium to large group. The fact that it was everyone's first time axe throwing added to the fun element with some scared like me and others excited to try something new. On reaching the location the first thing we needed to do was check in by signing an edocument and providing some personal details. They are particular about verifying the information provided and once that is done we went in to meet a coach. The coach took us to the "arena" and talked through the basics of axe throwing by demonstrating and then making me and my friend throw our first axes. We were given a few tries till we got a hang of it. This was very helpful and the coaches are very friendly and give everyone very specific advice. The actual tournament was 3 round robbins after which there were playoffs. As we were a large group we were there for almost 3 hours but smaller groups will probably take less time. The experience was amazing and I would certainly come back with other friends and family.

After my first axe throwing experience at another establishment I swore I would never touch another axe again. That all changed when walked into Urban Axes tonight. My coach tonight was Brian and he was amazing. Brian was extremely through in explaining all the safety rules prior to me even touching an axe. I truly felt that safety was their number one priority which is extremely important when you're throwing around axes. He explained the mechanics and the different stages of the throw and talked to me through the entire throwing process from start to finish. Around halfway through my coaching lesson I was throwing bullseyes. Brian was very easy-going and extremely funny which made the our lesson fly by very quickly. I was definitely disappointed that our hour long session was over but I will be back for more lessons and to join a league next season.

Throwing axes is a lot of fun. Our instructor, Brian helped us learn how to properly throw axes and made it fun. With a minimum of 8 people you can throw from 2.5 hours for $35 per person. We had a large group which made it easy to have a tournament. They have open days for throwing, but it is best to make a reservation prior to coming. There are port a potties in the front, but they have full bathrooms in the back. It's BYOB, just wine and beer not liquor. Since it is super hot in here and there is no air conditioning, bring some water with your adult beverages. Also,for safety wear closed toed shoes.

This was so so so much fun! Three of us did the walk-in option on a Sunday for $20. We arrived at 1:45pm/1:50pm and only had to wait 10 minutes to start playing. We were out with three other people since each walk-in game is with 6 people. Our instructor was super helpful and nice. We each got a quick lesson and test try before playing a real game. Got some great pictures and videos, and definitely want to bring a bigger group back! We also want to bring drinks because this place is byob too!

Our department had a great time at Urban Axes! Coach Brian was the best! Would recommend!

I am not a muscular girl. The idea of throwing axes was scary to me. Then I went to Urban Axes and realized how safe and fun it is. Don't get me wrong, I was terrified when throwing my first axe onto a target board. (By the way, few things make me feel like that anymore, it's good to have the possibility to be thrilled again). After a few throws, I realized it is almost impossible to hurt yourself or someone else if you pay a minimum attention to what you're doing. The security measures and the stellar staff are making it just logistically unfeasible for an axe to go where it's not supposed to. Get ready for a training before you throw, then your few first throws are very closely supervised by the staff to make sure you got it. Then after that, you just go competitive! That is the super fun part. Bring a few friends, and have a tournament. It's amazing. I had a great time, and wanted to throw axes all night. But at closing time, I had to leave (booh). I will definitely be back!

This review is probably long overdue. I heard about Urban Axes long before it opened and began to organize a group of friends together to pick a date to check it out with in months of opening. We had a blast and since my initial visit back in 2016 I started to jumped on any and all opportunities to join other groups of friends to go back. I've hosted many events of my own for groups of friends and family. As well as joined many friends in events they've hosted. Also I've signed up for many random events from a Ladies Day hosted by Bumble BFF, to a Ladies Blades fundraiser hosted by Urban itself, to a Beer Week event by Victor and Holiday party for the Yelp Elite Squad. When I 1st started to research booking an event I saw there was a league option but Tuesday's didn't work for me so when they expanded to other days of the week I signed up for my 1st league in January of 2017. I did 3 season in 2017 and I am currently registered for a 4th season in 2018. I tried another venue for league this year, it was a different style, but regardless of the actual rules I find Urban is much more organized, league starts on time, people get the number of matches they are supposed to and extra if they need to get a head or catch up, as well as they handle schedule request well (within reason). Urban Axes is BYO food and drinks (beer and wine only and they do take the seriously, trust me my 1st visit some of my friends ignored my multiple don't bring booze instruction and they weren't allow to take it in). Many places will delivery directly to Urban Axes, it helps if you write what lane you are assigned to when ordering. When pre-signing up for an event you can sign the wavier ahead of time to save time, I recommend this especially if you are going during a high traffic time. One great thing is the price listed is the price you pay there no hidden fees or taxes to worry about. It's also the best value of all the venues in the area being the lowest price with the highest timeframe, $35 for 2 1/2 hours. Axe throwing is a super fun activity and you're sure to have fun at any venue but it you want the best experience with an excellent staff who really knows what they are doing than Urban Axes is the venue you want to go to in the City of Philadelphia.

I planned an event for my residency (30 people) with help of Brianna, the corporate events manager at Urban Axes, and it was a HUGE success! There was plenty of space to have a safe socially distanced event and still throw plenty of axes. Also the venue is BYOB which is awesome! All of my coworkers had a BLAST and the coaches were also excellent!! Brianna was incredible at helping me organize the event, always responded to my emails quickly, and made the whole process totally seamless. I will 100% recommend Urban Axes to friends for future events and hope to host another event there someday!

If you don't have the greatest time of your life throwing axes, you may not want to be seen in public. This was a total "Hoot"!! My daughter invited a bunch of us to participate in a group event. My wife was a bit leary about axe throwing, but soon became a huge fan. Especially when she made it to the "Finals". This is a BYOB place where you should also consider BYOF. You get a refrigerator to store you beverages and a table to place your food. You will also be provided an instructor/coach/scorekeeper. There are 2 lanes each with a target in the back. The axes themselves weight about 16 oz or maybe less. Throwing them like darts, baseball or football probably won't work for you. They show you how 2 handed over the head with the proper release will work best. They also explain the scoring which then leads to your position for the playoffs. Everyone makes the playoffs, just some will be seeded higher than others. Our last place person (my wife) made it to the finals while our first place person (my brother) lost in the first round. These are "real" axes and you need to sign a waiver. There should be no real danger in playing unless you happen to be playing with an axe killer (pun intended). LIzzie Borden not welcome here. You're expected to pay via Square (no cash) and tip your coach prior to finishing. Reservations are necessary. You'll also get a group picture taken. Unfortunately ours never made it to the Facebook page. There should be a way for us to upload it since we all have the digital copy. There needs to be more in different cities. The unique thing about Urban Axes besides what they do and their name is the venue is actually in an old slightly renovated building in downtown Philly. This brings hope to all other abandoned, but structurally sound properties in large cities.

I came here for a work event and it greatly exceeded my expectations. If you make a reservation online, be sure to have everyone in your party fill out the waiver beforehand so there's more time for action. If you are late to your reserved time, note that you are unable to recover that lost time. Be on time!!! The friendly front desk staff ask for your ID and send you on your way. We get to our lanes and our coach for the day greets us and gives us the rundown of how the session will go. You'll get plenty of practice and don't worry if you suck at first, it gets better. They'll teach you throwing techniques and will keep track of the score when it gets real: the tournament. Safety is highly stressed and at no point in time, did I feel at risk of getting axed! It's BYO wine and beer. No hard liquor. There's a small fridge nearby to keep your bevs cold. It's a fun time and it's a nice workout as well!

Didn't know what to expect -- though the idea of throwing axes on a weekend afternoon sounded great. I went in to Urban Axes a little curious and a little nervous I was going to drop an ax on myself or gouge open my leg from a missed swing. However, from the start the team at Urban Axes (special props to Alan, our coach) was friendly, patient and all around fun. There were 3 of us and we got to throw plenty of axes in the one hour we were there. Starting awkward and hesitant, but then feeling a groove with the throwing (really more weight shifting than arm strength). Definitely a great time! Left with a big fat grin and wanting to come back for more.

Brian was amazing and funny. Had a great bachelor party. Fun time. 5 stars great service. Knowledgeable.

Came here on a suggestion on what to do for a bachelor party and was a great idea. Was here with 11 people and they were able to handle the size of party no problem. It is BYOB and food, which is great, and the 2 1/2 tournaments fly bye. The coach/referee was great and helped to build the competitive spirit we all had. It's not as hard as you would think and everyone had a good time. Def go if you are planning a party with lots of people.

SO MUCH FUN. Came here for my birthday with some friends and we all had an absolute blast. The coaches are super upbeat and fun and ensure safety but also making sure everyone plays and has a blast. There was a round robin then single elimination tournament so plenty of play time for each person! It's BYOB and food but they have refrigerators and tables and menus from local places that will deliver. Highly recommend!

First off. Our coach was AMAZING. coolest guy on the scene. Large muscles. Sick hair. Basically the man. Brian is the best. Also had a wonderful time here. We had a blast. HIGHLY reccomended

So much fun!! You get to throw axes and it is BYO. The team working there is awesome and want you to have fun. I learned so much from them and finished 2nd in the tournament at the end. It is fun how they involve everyone in the throwing and how we compete in challenges. I would definitely recommend.

My wife and I live locally, we love coming here! Brian, not to be confused with Bryan Adams, although as equally talented and handsome, is by far the best coach we've ever had anywhere, life included. He's the reason we'll continue to come back!

So I just left from urban axes and our group reservation for 12 ppl. It's a Saturday night and the places was packed! What you need to understand about this place is that you just don't show up and start throwing axes. EVERYTHING about your experience is handled and guided by a "coach" and well...our coach ruined the night. We had Christine, a short, shaved head girl with a loud, rude mouth. It's understandable that these coaches might need to be firm with their customers from time to time as this place is a BYOB and I'm sure customers can get out of hand. It was 8:30 and I was sober (and don't drink anyway). So about 9:30 I was up and Christine the loud mouth repeatedly told me multiple times to shut up and that I didn't know anything about throwing axes. So by the time I was throwing I had some questions about the scoring system and how things worked. She just get telling me that I didn't know anything about axe throwing and just be quiet. So I had to get the manager, lodge a complaint and have her removed from our party. I understand that if you're reading this you're thinking to yourself "how could she just start telling me to shut up" and that I must have some something. I promise you, she had some weird dominating need for control and putting people down to make herself feel sane. This girl absolutely ruined my night and should be removed from her 8.00 an hour position and sent packing. ------------------------- So I just want to update my review and say that while I lodged a complaint the evening of the incident the manager, John was extremely nice and did temporarily remedy the situation. All of the staff there was helpful and caring. It appears that this was an isolated incident with 1 person. Additionally I was contacted by upper management and asked to come back so they could make it right. I feel that this place is ran very proper and that clearly care. I will give this place another shot.

They don't need another five star review, they have plenty already, but they earned it, so why not? My daughter gave me a gift certificate for an hour of axe throwing. I know of a few people who tried it and liked it so I was happy to give it a shot. They give you a bit of technique instruction, then turn you loose. We went mid-afternoon so no drinking, but you can bring along beer or wine (I don't think hard liquor and axe throwing would be a good mix but I can imagine some fun drinking games for the lunatics among us!). We had a blast. It's hard to say why it's so fun, but there's something about tossing that axe into that wooden target, hearing that solid THUNK as it buries itself, and having to give the embedded axe a good solid pull to remove it that's just appealing. Turn your inner Viking or Lumberjack loose and give it a try!

A great time with friends! It's reasonably priced, and you get to do an activity other than sitting around a bar or table talking. You get to throw axes and talk! They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own wine or beer. My friends and I have gone a few Sunday mornings and brought our own mimosa bar with us! The employees are also all super fun and make the already-exciting experience even more enjoyable. In conclusion: go, throw some axes, and bring mimosas. You won't regret it.

A group of us went for all of our first times. We had a great experience with Brian who outgoing and informative which made as all feel more comfortable! Would definitely recommend this to any group of friends looking to try something new.

I've been eager to get to Urban Axes ever since I missed the Yelp Christmas party. The sibs and I decided father's day seemed like the perfect time to get in this manly activity, so this Sunday we headed over to Kensington to throw some axes. There was parking right out front, which was convenient because my parents seemed a little wary about the neighborhood. We had all signed waivers online prior to arrival, so our group of 9 got set up right away in out own alley. We knew it was BYOB (beer and wine only), so we had packed a cooler, but were pleasantly surprised that each aisle has its own fridge and water cooler for beverage and food storage. After a quick lesson by Christina, we started some round-robin axe throwing, racking up points (some more than others) for seeding in a final showdown. It's hard to understate how much fun we had here. The instructors are no-nonsense but funny in their own way, and axe-throwing turns out to be pretty therapeutic. This is a fun, unique way to pass the time. I can't wait to come back!

Our group of 12 rocked the axe throwing thanks to ouR coach CHRIS .T. AMAZING.fun from moment we walked into unban axes until we left so much fun highly recommended. The staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs as first time throwers.

I can't say enough nice things about our time at Urban Axes. I took my friend here for her bachelorette. It has been extremely hard on the bride because her wedding and original bachelorette plans were very affected by covid and all the shutdowns in the area, so making this day special for her was very important to me and the rest of the bridesmaids. Not only did we have a GREAT time, but the bride left happy and feeling special. Our coach Chris made this day fun and kept us all laughing. It was the perfect bachelorette party activity and honestly, we all felt like this was better than our original plans. We will all definitely be back!
