Crepes Filled With Ratatouille Are Coming to Downtown Portland | Eater Portland

"Opening this March at 1216 SW Morrison Street, Urban Creperie will serve sweet and savory crepes all day — from ratatouille-filled savory crepes to hardcore Nutella sweet versions — and will operate from breakfast through dinner with beer and wine on tap. Ilya Afanassiev, who grew up eating crepes in St. Petersburg, teamed up with partners who opened their first creperie in Nevada to bring the concept to Portland, which seemed limited in crepe offerings. The restaurant will seat at least 30 and offer additional options like salads and hummus; I'm particularly excited about the breakfast crepes, which will include versions filled with fresh ricotta and berry preserves." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

delicious crêpe and cider! oat milk latte didn’t really fit my taste buds. oat milk isn’t integrated into the espresso well. also, the smoke from the kitchen was strong and it was stick to our skin and clothes after we left the restaurant :/ now we’re missing the crêpe! should have ordered another sweet one. definitely will visit again next time when we’re in portland!

All things right in life. Savory, sweet, perfection. Compliments to the chef on my perfect omelette special of the week! And the crepes selected by my beloved family…let’s just say there was no complaining, only enjoyment of our meal.

Google
I had the breakfast crepe which was delicious. Brendon was very helpful and super welcoming. I also had a mocha with oatmilk that was made perfectly. From the music, food and service I would be happy to eat here once a week.

Greeted on entry. A few questions, easy menu to navigate. Ordered at counter but can order and pay at the table if you wish. Found a table, pretty spacious, no trouble finding a spot. Was offered glasses and carafes of water. Missing forks and napkins at table but overall ready for service, clean and arranged. Everyone was pleased with their crepes. Would love to try more!

Google
When I asked the staff to recommend menu items, they said all the menu items were delicious, and I doubted this. But after taking a bite of the food, I admitted that this was true. The staff is so friendly, the interior is fancy, and the food is so nice. I'll go again to try other flavors 😋

Google
Nice space. App ordering. Able to customize the crapes how you like - we got mushroom crapes with chicken and spinach. Cam with a side salad. Flavor was great. They even stopped be a couple times to make sure we were doing fine - that was good since it was an app order.

Google
I really enjoyed the food at this little creperie. I actually had the hash, and it was so good! My boys loved the crepes, too. It is a little pricy but definitely worth every penny! We all dug the very urban vibe.

Google
Urban Crêperie is a stylish modern charm downtown. First thing to note is it is a self seating QR code order system so no hostess or wait staff. So dont expect that "type" of service. Not that that is a bad thing just creates a differnt level of eatery experince. Good help is hard to find but that would elevate the dining experience. From drinks and coffee great selection of beverages. Kombucha was light qnd delightful good hint of cocunut and lime but was missing the effervescence of traditional kombucha. The crepes were very tasty but inconsistent in texture. The breakfast crepe was perfect balnce of moist and soft. The banana nutella was however rubbery and hard to cut even with a table knife. Ingredients were good and tasty. Mixed green salad was a good matching but warm when layed over a warm crepe. Less than ideal. Minor things would elevate the experience but definitely a good brunch or breakfast choice

Yelp
Service was courteous and quick, and the crepes were fabulous! I got the hangover crepe and my husband got both the breakfast and the Oreo crepe. Drinks were on point- I got the brown sugar matcha and my husband got the salted caramel Italian soda. The interior is trendy and clean, and it was a nice quiet place for our last breakfast in Portland.

Yelp
Lovely little cafe! I ordered the breakfast potatoes, which was a generous and well seasoned portion of crispy potatoes, as well as the guacamole. The guac was a very large portion of guacamole served with fried crepe pieces, which I thought was very creative. The guacamole itself was delicious, and there's a layer of greens at the bottom. My husband had the Mediterranean crepe without cheese, which he really enjoyed. The cafe itself is very clean and airy, and the staff was very friendly. You order and pay from a QR code at your table.

Yelp
Last day in Portland and we wished we knew about it sooner! Fave dish was the Hangover crepe. Staff was friendly and patient with us as we looked through all the crepe options

Yelp
By the looks of it presentation is pretty but taste-wise it is an average crepe. I never had a savory crepe before it was pretty good, but had no wow factor. Price- The portion is a bit small considering the avocado crepe was $15 which is pricey for mashed avocados and a fried egg. Most crepes are ranging from $15-$20+ but the portions are pretty small for its value. I'd say it is a bit pricier for brunch/breakfast in downtown Portland. Food- The avocado crepe is basically similar to a toast version which you can never go wrong. Avocados are fresh and could tell they use quality ingredients, but nothing crazy or innovative in a crepe form. The breakfast crepe is a better choice, it is filling and stuffed. Portions are bigger if you are looking for something a bit heavier. The mushroom crepe is very delicious and creamy, one of the popular items on the menu. Service- Can't say much, you just order in the front and staffs bring the food to your table.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. It was not too busy, and we were able to make our order quickly at counter. The décor of the place is very cute and homey. Food & Drinks: We ordered the following crepes to share for brunch: Nutella bacon Mushroom Avocado All the crepes were really good, but my favorite was the mushroom crepe. It was creamy and savory. Mushrooms are my absolute favorite so I may be bias here. I also got a hazelnut latte with breakfast. The latte was good. I would order it again for sure. Service: You typically order at the counter here and the food is brought to your table. The person at the counter was pretty friendly. Our food and drinks didn't take too long after we sat down. TL;DR - delicious crepes and coffee in a super cute setting!

Yelp
I loved our Father's Day brunch here--the service was excellent for order and pay at the counter set up. The atmosphere is minimalist and the drinks are served in jars. I happen to like that, but others in the party found the vibe predictable and, well, douchey, which seems harsh, considering that much of Portland restaurants share this vibe. But let's get to the star of the show: the food and coffee. I enjoyed the coffee and the sturdy mugs. Everyone should enjoy dark roast coffee like this. 5 stars! The crepes--the savory breakfast crepes were massive, more like burritos. We loved them. The Nutella/ bacon crepe was amazing--I'm grateful I won't die wondering what that combination tastes like. Turns out, it's terrific. I'll be back--it's a great place on all fronts.

Yelp
A good experience with great staff. Urban's large indoor space is complemented by a quiet streetscape, with minimal traffic and high active transportation, making the outdoor seating very approachable. Once inside, you'll be greeted by attentive staff who will inform you how the ordering process works. As of Fall 2023, you can order at the bar or via the QR code on tables. The staff are very attentive at first, and they'll ensure you are set up with the drinks and additional items you may need. I enjoyed the tables' spread out since most brunch places are quite cramped. I felt private here, able to chat freely with friends. However, the ambiance struggles to define itself with industrial, Scandi, and conservative aesthetics. It could be beneficial to focus more on one style to make the space feel connected. The sweet and savory menu for crêpes was perfect. There are not too many choices, but several seasonal items change every day. I was a fan of the bourbon and apple crêpe and ordered bacon on the side. However, as soon as the food was on my table, I didn't hear from any servers until I departed 45 minutes later. The service felt disconnected since the team was very social and attentive at first and followed by leaving me completely alone. It may have been busy, but, it just felt strange.

Yelp
My son loves nothing more than a good Nutella crepe. We haven't had them anywhere downtown - we pretty much stick to the SE - but after his doctors appointment today, I thought it'd be nice to extend our time with a lunch before dropping him at school. I had seen Urban Crêperie before, and was always curious, but because of its location (often a lousy place to find parking!), I'd never stopped. Today we got lucky and found parking right on 13th. To get your food, you find a seat and order from a QR code. This is never my favorite option - how do you find out the soup of the day or the crêpe of the day?? - but the options were good. And to be fair, the server came over and told us to get him if we needed anything. I ordered the Nutella for my son, a bowl of fruit, and some bacon. For myself, I got the Crêpe Complete, which was cheeses, ham, and a sunny side up egg, served with a salad. The drink for my son came right out, and the crêpes followed soon after. I didn't ask my son how his was, but I'm guessing the fact that it was gone in less than 10 minutes says something. Mine was really delicious. The balance of the ingredients was ideal, the presentation beautiful (someday, maybe I will remember to take a photo before digging in!), and the flavors, including the salad and vinaigrette all tasted perfect together. I am taking off a star for the lack of ambiance and long, black hairs on my chair. Not the end of the world, and it didn't diminish the flavor Of my food. I think it's the chairs just pick up things. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
A nice place to go if you want different types of crapes, especially the savory ones. I really love the flavors and essence of the apple pie crêpe, which brought a hint of sweet and satisfying. My breakfast crêpes is good to like a breakfast burrito but a crêpe! I highly recommend coming here with friends, and just sitting down and enjoying a cup of coffee while eating some crêpes, and they have other options to on the menu, but their best known for their crêpes, of course.

Yelp
Delicious crepes! I liked the different variety they offer. The display of the interior, food, and latte is great. Service was good. Nice spot to stop in Portland!

Yelp
Our first ever breakfast in Portland was at this cute shop! They had a good selection of sweet and savory crepes. The decor and the kitchen ware was definitely well thought out. I do have to say, it was on the more expensive side for me as a broke college student, but I don't regret spending the money here because i had a really positive experience here as it was drizzling outside in the cold weather. Inside was warm and welcoming, and sitting with my friends feasting on crepes was the way to start off my trip in portland

Yelp
A great option for those wanting to branch out from traditional American brunch on their Sundays. We got a savory and a sweet crepe to split between the two of us and they were more than plenty to get us to our happy fullness. The Breakfast Crepe was novel yet familiar at the same time. Packed with scramble eggs, chorizo, salsa verde, and gooey cheese, this crepe registered like a burrito but in a pillowy soft crepe. The chorizo stood out to me. It wasn't overly salty like most and had a nice tenderness to it. This is definitely a good dish for those looking for a hearty breakfast. For sweet, we went with the Sweet Cheese Crepe which had a matcha infused cream cheese and fresh strawberry filling, topped with powdered sugar and served with a side of whipped cream and fudge sauce. The crepe, again, was very nice and tender. The cream cheese filling was relatively heavy but super smooth. The greentea was subtle and I like the touch of sourness from the berry. The sweet crepes seem to be smaller in portion than the savory ones but you definitely don't need a lot of them to be satisfied. The Marshmallow Latte that seemed to be a special on the day was also nice but waaay to sweet for a black coffee drinker like me. Very foamy froth though. Their crepes are what you should come here for, of course, but they also offers non-crepe items like omlette, hash, and burger. Their actual menu doesn't seem to match their online menu so keep that in mind. Their interior is very open and modern with plenty of cute seatings. Staffs were lively but a litte inexperienced. One attempted to take our plate without asking, not super big issue though. All in all, very please with my first experience here and would totally come back when my next crepe craving hit!

Yelp
Downtown location, accessible public transport, and very welcoming. Limited vegetarian/vegan food selection. I had the avocado crepe and talk about plenty of avocados, no skimming on quality ingredient topped off with a sunny side up egg. Forgot to take pictures, I was hungry

Yelp
First time in. After checking the website, I was looking forward to one of the "Featured Dishes" the Hangover Crêpe. Upon ordering, I was told that it was not on the menu. When I mentioned that it was on the website, I was casually informed that the website was "way out of date". I ended up ordering the Breakfast Crêpe and black coffee. The coffee is self serve and the food came out promptly. The salad had a vinaigrette that was a bit heavy handed with mustard - fortunately I like mustard. The crêpe itself was nicely golden with just a bit of "streachiness", which is what you should expect from a crêperie. The contents were potato, scrambled eggs and chorizo. The potatoes and eggs were not seasoned and the eggs were dry - the only seasoning was from the fat of the chorizo itself. The coffee was quite bitter, I couldn't finish my cup.

Yelp
I had the breakfast crepe and it was so tasty! I liked that it had potatoes inside Apparently it's their most popular savory crepe. The side salad that comes with the crepes are also really good which was a nice surprise. My friend had the crepe complete and she said she liked it too. I also indulged myself in a salted caramel latte which was pretty good but I couldn't taste the salty part only the caramel flavor. We shared a sweet crepe with strawberries (not pictured) and you can't go wrong with a classic like that . The service was great! And the place was very inviting and cozy.

Yelp
Great crepes with unique combinations of flavors. Good cappuccinos. Very nice server who greeted us kindly, brought us water, and made sure we had a nice meal throughout. cozy atmosphere, plenty of space to hang out and relax on a cold day. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Sweet over Savory for me. We got 2 savory crepes and 1 sweet to split. Will definitely return to try more dishes & their specialty drinks! Ambiance is industrial cafe, French music playing, high ceilings. Lots of seating, some tables/chairs on sidewalk. Rotating Special: Egg Salad Crepe with pico de gallo, scallions, chipotle aioli, avocado - Light and tangy - Crepe is folded beneath the toppings, a bit of a challenge to knife & fork Breakfast Crepe with chorizo, potatoes, scallions, cheese, 2 scrambled eggs, salsa verde, served with mixed greens and dijon vinaigrette - Heavy, bulky - Pretty dry unless you're a fan of adding lots of hot sauce - Potatoes were cut in awkwardly large cubes, nearly a full bite of just potato BLS Crepe with butter, lemon juice, powdered sugar, whipped cream - STAR of the show! - Simple, clean flavors let the crepe shine through - Delicious texture and just the right level of sweetness - Turned this review from 3/5 to 4/5 stars

Yelp
Best kept secret in Portland! Unique flavors that change with the chef's whim from sweet to savory. Huge portion, excellent service, and chill vibe. The view of the gothic Presbyterian Church outside is a nice bonus. Get the latte and prepare for a plethora of spices in a steaming mug.

Steve D.

Yelp
Went here with my girlfriend. She ordered the breakfast crepe and I had the egg salad crepe. We then split a BLS crepe. The egg salad crepe was better than average. The egg salad was the star. The breakfast crepe looked very substantial and more filling than the egg salad crepe. The crepe didn't really shine in this dish either, but the combo of ingredients was really good. The BLS crepe was good. Maybe a little eggier than I would have liked but very enjoyable none the less.

Yelp
Great spot in downtown Portland, right on the Max line. Service was the star here--we had great, friendly, and personal(!), service. The staff were very accommodating to letting us order coffee and then take a long time to decide (bonus: coffee drinks were served in beautiful individual mugs). I had a salted caramel latte and a ricotta crepe--both were just sweet enough but not too sweet. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The breakfast crepe is a must! The filling is very generous and flavorful. I like that the potato is crispy and the scramble egg is perfected cooked. The crepe is soft and thin. The breakfast crepe also comes with a side salad which tasted fresh. I also tried the sweet cheese crepe which I love as well. There's a subtle matcha flavor which pairs very well with the sweetened cream cheese. The crepe has a good amount of fresh strawberries and overall it was a good flavor combo. Both crepes are delicious but it's a bit pricey for the portion.

Becca B.

Yelp
$20 for a Crepe with lemon juice and few unripe strawberries (and a black coffee) is robbery. Coffee was not good, plus they don't have half and half. The crepe came with whip cream out of a can. Could not be more disappointed in this place. Outrageous cost for what you get. That crepe should've been $9 tops, and that's being generous.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. I had an omelette in a creperie place and was very happy with the choice. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Really nice place. I'm a big fan of the Creampie and urban creperie is the place. Come on in and let them fill you up.

Yelp
Food: The food was like a fun house mirror version of good crepes. Giant, overstuffed and way too sweet. Is that what people want these days? If that's what you want you'll probably like it. The banana crepe was absolutely smothered with Nutella, and it included a banana that was so underripe it crunched like a carrot. The ricotta cheese crepe was better -- not as huge and not preposterously sweet. Coffee: I ordered an espresso. It was the volume of a small Americano. Definitely not a double shot. The beans were roasted way too dark, about the same as Starbucks. The espresso had no texture. It's a bummer to see a really nice espresso machine and really nice grinder that are used to make worse-than-Starbucks coffee. At least the mugs were cute. Service: The service was very friendly but not particularly organized. They mixed up drinks and totally forgot my espresso with the initial order. They also mixed up other drinks in my group.

Yelp
This food here was to die for! They he a lot of different options to choose from. We got the avocado crepe with an egg and it was so good and lite. We also got the mushroom one, this on was a bit more filling, and creamy. It also came with a salad. The hazelnut and strawberry crepe was sooo amazing. Just the right amount of both ingredients. It was also nice how they will first serve you your savory crepes, and then after serve you the sweet crepes. I will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe, food was excellent and service was so, so fast! We had the breakfast crepe and avocado crepe along with a rather adorable mimosa and bellini. Would highly recommend and plan to return!

Yelp
Five stars. Yes. The crepes are amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I have been here many times and this review is way overdue. Everything is good here. Nice location. Always clean. Always fresh.

Yelp
Really delicate crepes filled with delicious savory stuff. Quiet spot - off the beaten path but really enjoyable.

Yelp
How is this our first time here? Do yourself a favor and come eat some incredible food and support this local restaurant. The flavors were impeccable and after my first bite, I was in heaven. We both got savory crepes and agreed that we had a good portion without feeling full and 'gross' when we were done. It was perfect. Add in a Bellini, a gorgeously decorated interior, fantastic service, and an owner that really cares about his patrons, and you have a recipe for success. We will be back and will tell EVERYONE about this place.

Yelp
I was absolutely obsessed with the food ! I had the mushroom crepe w/ chicken and it was so yummy ! Best savory crepe I've ever had (coming from a crepe lover). My husband had the avocado crepe and he loved it. The service was also amazing, the person who helped us was kind and attentive. The vibe of the place is so cute ! I love the rustic/modern vibe to this place. Definitely worth stopping here !

Yelp
Cute new creperie in downtown. Interior is modern and welcoming. Outside has a couple of tables. Staff is friendly and food is so yummy! I ordered the Hangover crepe salted caramel latte and a lemon blueberry parfait muffin. Flavors are amazing, I will definitely be back

Yelp
In my opinion: Presentation was cute and portion was great . potatoes were undercooked , the chorizo(which was extra $4)was overcooked and a bit dry, not enough egg(looked like 1 egg) and the sauce was a bit too bitter and over powered the rest of the ingredients (it was a green sauce). The crepe tortilla(idk how to call it) was good but a bit too chewy making it hard to cut/bit off and eat. Served with another bitter salad, which I don't think it's the best choice. The coffee was a lavender style that I really liked!! Service was great they seem pretty friendly Place was really nice and clean and bathrooms were as well , they kept everything in place with Covid and the kitchen (which you could see ) was very clean as well .

Samantha F.

Yelp
So freaking good went two days in a row. Food was so good and fresh. The service was great, bathrooms very nice. Overall the place was clean and had nice music going. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
I'm from Los Angeles, and I'm currently in Oregon. I'm a massive crepe junkie, and this restaurant is without a doubt one of my all-time favorites. If you're a local or just visiting Portland, I highly recommend this restaurant for a fantastic meal, sweet or salty. The apple pie crepe is very warm and sweet, with lovely flavor combinations. The avacado crepe is salty and delicious, with a perfectly poached egg; it's almost too pretty to eat. The strawberry chocolate bacon crepe (i forgot the name) is sweet and salty in equal measure. At the same time, the ambience is urban and cozy. Customer service is very welcoming as well. The sweet man who helped us out made us feel very comfortable. If I ever have a reason to go portland again, I'm DEFINITELY coming here.

Alicia R.

Yelp
Food is amazing. Service outstanding. Brendan was so helpful and fun. Owner came out to double check about my allergy. Lovely and clean. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing experience! The crepes are so good! The inside was so cute and romantic, we felt like we were in some kind of cool Portland indie film, so hip. The staff were super nice and made great recommendations. Can't wait to go back!

Villiam V.

Yelp
I've been walking past the Urban Crêperie on my way to the bus stop from work, and today was the first time I stopped in. The dining area has a modern homey feel, and the staff was all very nice. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of the savory crepes in the coming weeks. If you like Crepes, or IPA's, or soup, I'd recommend stopping in for lunch : )

Maria B.

Yelp
The crêpes are delicious. Super cozy place with a lovely atmosphere. The service is great.

Yelp
Great breakfast and great coffee. Perfect start to the day. Avocado crepe with salmon as perfect. The egg on top was well ..... perfect cherry on a great day. The guys were nice too, no attitude. Jump on the MAX from there and you're off.

Yelp
So many different options of crepes and the portions were big. Service was quick. We ordered a sweet and savory crepe and they were both delicious! Will recommend this place!

Yelp
Numerous options, absolutely delicious, prompt service. Restaurant was clean and service was very friendly.
