The Twin Cities’ Best Breweries With Outstanding Food | Eater Twin Cities

"Urban Growler’s Friday fish fry takes cues from Wisconsin. The wild-caught walleye is breaded in panko and deep-fried until it’s golden and crispy, and the mac and cheese — made with Cowbell Cream Ale beer cheese — is a cheesy, comforting side. As far as beers go, the Cowboy Cream Ale is an easygoing choice for local beer newbies and those who like a versatile beer. Yes, there is online ordering." - Louis Livingston-Garcia

A group of us went for lunch, my first time. I ordered the Ribs and Russets and the ribs were awesome. I asked for the sauce on the side with no problem. The salads were both good but nothing special. Falafel wrap and pork sandwich were both tasty but the coleslaw on the pork was placed on the bottom bun before the meat. This completely saturated the bun so the bun was inedible, boo. The walleye fish fry was over the top excellent. Beau helped me with my order and was so pleasant! Recommended the Basil Limeade Hard Seltzer, which also was a great choice!! I will be back mostly due to the many choices of beverages offered other than beer, I appreciate that!

Urban Growler is one of my favorite breweries! They have some great flagship brews - I especially love the vanilla latte blonde ale and the cowbell cream ale. They also have excellent food and a decent sized patio which is great in the summer. I recently tried the southern fried chicken sandwich, which was a little bit messy to eat, but really delicious. Everyone else really enjoyed their burgers and sandwiches as well. We always have a great experience at Urban Growler!

Google
Fantastic! The fish fry was delicious and the poutine was tasty as well. I liked the tater tots a bit more than the fries. The ranch and tartar sauce were yummy too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a a packed restaurant. The staff were fabulous and great and the wait for food wasn’t too terrible. We will be back! But maybe when it isn’t lent. 🙃

Google
Cool atmosphere. Amazing food, really good beer and seltzer. I had the basil, lavender lemonade, and sampled the vanilla latte porter 💜 the Ruben was very delicious and my husband had the chicken sandwich and devoured it.

Google
A great local brewery with some character, nestled in a unique urban setting. I was impressed by their food selection, especially the Fish Fry! The outdoor patio area is especially nice, with hanging lights and plenty of seating. I also really appreciated how they had a self-serve water barrel with reusable cups, bonus points for sustainability.

Google
Solid IPA and the food was pretty good as well. Love the layout with ample seating. Staff was super friendly. Really liked the shirts.

Google
I’ve always loved buying Urban Growler beers, and we live super close, but had never actually stayed around at the taproom until today. We’ve been in to buy off sale before, but the service and vibe was even more friendly and bubbly during our longer stay. The food we had was all really impressive - genuinely one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had, and if I didn’t love their drinks so much too I’d still come back just for that sandwich! Everyone was very happy with their food, the menu is kind of an odd assortment of things but in a great way - it’s creative and tasty with something for everyone, and that applies to the different beers, seltzers, and mocktails too. Just really hits every mark, and we’re already excited to bring more people here!

Google
Is a good combination of a tap room and restaurant - with good drink, seltzer, and beer options combined with an elevated bar menu experience and specials.

Yelp
This place is tucked away on the far side of St. Paul in and industrial area. The space itself is really nice and much larger than you expect. Food is also available here, we just didn't order any the day we went. The bartender was very friendly and full of recommendations. We knew we were planning to take some beer home to-go, so they also let us know we could mix and match and gave some great recommendations for to enjoy later. Tried the jalapeño cream ale and there was also a pride selzer, which was a coconutty delight. Both were excellent. Can't wait to come back and try whatever new is on the menu.

Yelp
This brewery had a cool, inclusive vibe. They sell cans you can take home and a variety of merch. Seemed like a perfect place for a large gathering of sorts. The service was also fast and friendly. Orders: Sour puss: I LOVE sours, and this one was great. Mango and apricot. I wish they had more of a selection of sours to try, but drinking this all night was just fine. Poutine: if you're looking for a traditional poutine, this is not it. It felt more like eating a baked potato rather than poutine. There wasn't enough gravy to account for the thickness of the potato wedges or warm the cheese curds all the way through. Overall, would not order this again. Chips and dips: the chips and beer cheese were fantastic! Def wish I ordered this before being filled with potatoes. People at my table also ordered fries, tots, and burgers, which looked pretty good. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
My friends and I adventured her as part of the patio passport program they had for Visit St Paul. They also had a deal for bogo free. Back at the time we went it was Pride month and they had a themed drink. We ordered that and a cosmo beer cocktail. The pride drink was festive but I overall didn't care for it (also not a big beer drinker). I'd come back to try other items though. They had a small food menu as well. The patio was decent sized and it looked like they do live music and such out there. For sure a nice spot to grab a drink and hangout. Industrial looking inside.

Yelp
Stop #36 on our 2024 Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Brewery Tour We're over 1/3 of the way to our goal of 100 for 2024! Strolled up on Friday with the intent of hitting fish fry Friday whilst collecting another stamp & hit half of that. The gent un front if us ordered the last fish - boo. We skipped the food and ordered our stamp BOGOs. I opted for the Irish-style dry Stout on Nitro, giving it a 3.75 & the hubs went with the IPA Tornado Drill at a 4.25. Service was good & we were able to grab a seat on the patio & it was a beautiful evening . We came in at $8.15, before tip. The place has hopping & the scent of fried fish still lingered as we departed... next time, next time.

Yelp
Went with a friend to hangout and read our books. This was a great spot because they serve food and drinks. They do have a really nice outdoor space but it was a bit windy out so we sat inside. I got one of their cocktails, it was okay, I would have liked to try a THC seltzer but they only had them as an option if you were taking to go. For food, I got the sampler with tots, curds, and fries with beer cheese. It was delicious and great for me since I couldn't pick just one!

Yelp
This was a cool place to go for a beer. Loads of parking, and while the seating area is modest, there were several seats at the bar. I was served quickly, and sampled the three IPAs on tap. Good quality beer!

Yelp
Walked in to the sweet smell of fried food and a good time. The five of us were hooked up with individual flights of 5 beers. The presentation was exemplary, and the beers did not disappoint. The Cowbell Cream Ale and Vanilla Latte Blonde Ale were a fan favourite that were too good to describe. Highly recommend for all beer lovers as an intermediate location for a small bite to eat with beverages for all palettes worldwide.

Yelp
*Review for Hosting Barrel Room Event* We hosted an event at Urban Growler in the Barrel Room. The space was perfect for about 50 guests to have dinner and dance. We fit numerous vendors, 6 round tables, and a dance floor with no problem (and no room turnover)! The drinks were great. The catering menu was fine and we appreciated UG's ability to accommodate vegetarians and other dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, we had some difficulties with UG's event coordinator - the first coordinator we were working with left UG with no warning to us, the second was very inconsistent with communication and told us he would not be present for our event with only a few hours notice. One of our vendors even complained to us about the unresponsiveness of the second event coordinator which added to our stress. We heard UG is switching up the event staffing, so hopefully it will be better in the future. That said, Van and Kallie (two UG employees who stepped up on the day of our event) were fantastic and made the event a success! I would still recommend booking a bigger event at UG, but you have to really be on top of your own planning (or maybe specifically request Kallie)!

Yelp
Always one of my favorite breweries. Great food, great beer, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend the nachos, pulled pork sandwich or Mac and cheese.

Yelp
Great, inclusive brewery and kitchen that has an area stable in their cream ale. We finally made the trip again after a long time for their famous Fish Fry Friday and were not disappointed! The service was crazy fast and friendly. The bartenders and food runners all went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. The building is very cute with a rustic vibe and dog friendly patio. We got their märzen and "candy corn" cream ale to drink and both were really good. Nice malty märzen without being too sweet. The cream ale didn't taste like candy and just built on the solid base of their cream ale. Just added more "creamy" mouth feel. Their fried walleye was fantastic as well. Insanely flakey and tender with a nice, light panko coating. I'm not a huge fry-fan but their fries were really good! Overall we love the people, beer, food, and message of the brewery. Can't way until our next trip.

Yelp
What a great choice! We looked for a long time for a venue that embodied who we were as a couple and the minute we met with Urban Growler, I knew they were the right one. There were a few hiccups with wedding planners, but Kaylee wound up being absolutely perfect. She was on top of everything. The venue turned out beautiful with very little decoration. The food was top notch. It was such a relief to have them handle all the food and drinks. Our wedding was quintessentially us and a huge part of that was urban growler. The staff that worked our wedding were professional and provided great service to our guests. We couldn't have been happier

Yelp
Ok the macaroni and cheese is next level! I love this place because I can send groups and clients over because the menu can meet all dietary needs. It is women + LGBTQ owned (yahoo for safe equity spaces) and the vibe is industrial with pops of color. Wonder Woman also pictured in the building. The staff is always wonderful and the patio is dog friendly. What is not to love? Park for free on the street or in the nearby lot near the Wycliff building and walk over.

Yelp
Who doesn't like the Urban Growler? Seriously why do I need to review this place? It's the best. Nestled in an old century old building in an industrial park, this brewery combines a cozy spacious atmosphere, good beer and good food, making it an excellent place to stop by day or evening. Their flagship beer Cowbell Cream Ale will make a believer out of your non craft beer fans. I really like the Maibock as well, but all their beers are excellent. I also appreciate that they stock nonalcoholic beer if that is what you are looking for. Lots of good options for the vegetarian and meat eaters alike. I especially like the U.G. Bowl and Grain Bowl. It's good to find healthier options at a tap room. Their Friday fish fry can't be beat- no surprising given the head brewer's Wisconsin origins. The patio is dog friendly and plenty of spaceZ If you are hosting an event, they have several good rooms that can be rented for a reasonable minimum. Just love this place.

Yelp
My review is solely based on having private events here, specifically in the hayloft. We had my Halloween baby shower here, as well as my baby girl's first birthday party. First, the Hayloft is fantastic value for a private event space. It's nothing too fancy, but the space is cozy and a great blank canvas for whatever decor you might want. I love that you're tucked away from other patrons, and it's a huge plus that you get your own private bathroom. The service we had at both events was lovely. Truly the people at this brewery want to make you feel welcome, which we absolutely did! I didn't actually talk much to the folks at the brewery for my baby shower (my lovely friends/family hosted that) but when we were planning baby girl's first birthday, we worked directly with the events planner as well as the awesome ladies who worked our event. Everyone was fantastic, very patient with us, and incredibly helpful. As most people know, the beers are very solid. Really enjoyed the TinsAle I had, and everyone else mentioned loving the other options of drinks. Regarding the food, everyone at both parties were really pleased with the spread. For the baby shower we had some apps and a taco bar, and for the birthday party we had tots/fries, chips/salsa, and a mac and cheese bar. I loved that we were offered the choice of having leftovers either packed up for us, or they would compost them. Really appreciate the green alternative to packing leftovers. If we ever need to host a small/medium party again, we will definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
Fun brewery to go to! I had the growling mule for a drink and it was really good. I got the southern fried chicken sandwich with tater tots for dinner. It had great flavor but was very messy. Would order it again though!
google avatar

Yelp
A good selection of beers on tap! First woman owned brewery in St Paul. We tried the coconut porter, the sour, and beer blend of their vanilla latte and porter. Everything we tried was pretty good, and the prices were reasonable. They also have food available onsite. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options
google avatar

Yelp
After an afternoon of running errands with my partner in crime, it was time for some much deserved fuel. We love a good chicken sandwich and after some searching on Yelp, we decided to try Urban Growler. Stopped in around 5pm on a Friday in December. Place was busy. Lots of parking which is always a plus. We were greeted and seated in the back of the place. There's like different rooms with seating. Rustic vibe here. I love the tall ceilings, windows, and brick. Very cute! We used our pub pass for a beverage. For food, we shared the spin dip and burger. HIGE bummer for us-- they were out of the Southern Chicken Sandwich (original reason why we were here). Spin dip was meh. We did not finish it all. The burger was good. They also had a market going on in the other area of the brewery. We did not visit that park but many people were. Overall, it was fine experience. Maybe some time we'll come back for the chicken sandwich.

Yelp
The first perk is they have plenty of parking. They are also super close to another brewery wjocu can be fun if you wanna check out both! I love that they have food, beer, & seltzers. i got the Wisconsin Style fish fry ft. Panko crusted Walleye w/ a side of literally the best tartar sauce I've had in my life, coleslaw, & pumpernickel rye bread & butter! You also get a choice of fries, tots, chips, or seasonal fresh veggies. I went with the fries which is also dipped in that tasty tartar! Did I saw I love the tartar sauce??? I also grabbed a beer or tried Wisconsin Old Fashioned a double hard seltzer aged in a Wisconsin distillery brandy barrels. It can be served sweet or sour. I went sour and it was pretty solid. It's served on the rocks w/ additional craft bitters added and garnished w/ an orange slice & Luxardo cherry. They are a must stop fish fry all year round in my books! I will definitely be returning many times.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night when my sister's band was playing. I have been told that typically there is plenty of street parking, but I happen to come on a day when they were hosting a wedding reception and the streets were packed. Regardless, I was still able to find street parking, but had to walk a bit further. They have a generously-sized porch are that is broken into two sections. I didn't spend much time inside, but it looked fairly spacious as well. I came around 5:15PM and was able to snag a table near the stage for four people. As it got closer to 6PM (showtime), tables became few and far between. I enjoyed their seltzer cocktails and my husband enjoyed several of their beers. I also tried the UG bowl (yum), and my partner had the nachos. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance, and will likely be back.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
I ate at the bar and the bartender was super knowledgeable on of the beers. He was able to help make recommendations based on what types of beer and flavors I prefer. I ended up having two beers and wow! They were both delicious. In addition to beer, we also had lunch. I got the Vegan Bowl and it did not lack on flavor! All the ingredients blended together for an enjoyable meal. I look forward to coming back and trying their other vegan/vegetarian options! The atmosphere was also unique, since (as the bartender said) this location was once a stable. It still holds onto some of its rustic farm vibes with the interior. I can't wait to come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Good brewery that's a good size. I like their beer garden and the giant games they have outside like giant connect four. It's nice that they have a full kitchen and I think their food options are pretty good- standard bar food but IMO better food options then Surly (no pizza here though). I also like how they have beer cocktails and hard seltzers too. Parking is a bit limited when it gets busy though!
google avatar

Ashlyn A.

Yelp
OMG such a fun place! They have a ton of outdoor seating and yard games to play. You head inside to order drinks and food and get a number to bring to your table. We ordered chicken nachos and the fish and chips. My boyfriend said it was the best fish and chips he's ever had! Their tartar sauce was amazing. I got a pineapple jalapeño seltzer and I liked it a lot! The service was awesome and very kind! It is close to bang brewing, so you can walk between them if you'd like to try both! There's street parking with plenty of room. I'm definitely going to be back!

Yelp
It had been too long since I had been downtown to visit a brewery so I grabbed by Craft Notes Brewery Passport and took the drive with my beer companion. Flipping through the passport you find many B1G1 Pint deals, and I had never been to Urban Growler so found a match made in heaven. Urban Growler is in St. Paul, MN founded in 2014 by Deb and Jill. It is the first women owned brewery in the state of Minnesota with a mission to bring people together through beer. Deb is knocking out traditional beers like the iconic Cowbell Cream Ale and creative beers like Candy Corn beers. The Craft Notes Passport allowed me to not only try one of their beers, but TWO for the price of one. I love how it urges me to go out and explore breweries I haven't been to, but also saves a few bucks in the process. I decided to go for a classic and experimental with some help from my beer compatriot. Thrillz for Pilz: A refreshing Pilsner brewed with the classic German grown Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and Tettnanger hops. Starts with a bready flavor that is rounded out by the spicy bitterness of the hops. Not in your face, crisp, and extremely refreshing. Candy Corn Imperial Cream Ale: Tis the season. A high ABV cream ale brewed with a bunch of candy corn. I am not the biggest fan of candy corn, but enjoyed this beer a lot. A lighter body than you would expect for the high ABV and imperial indicator, but packed with flavor. Caramel and butterscotch flavors with a hint of corn. Slightly on the sweet side, but not cloying. This beer surprised me as to how much I enjoyed it! Thanks to Urban Growler for a lovely visit and to Craft Notes for allowing me to try not ONE, but TWO beers and urge me to spend some needed R&R time with friends & family at a new (to me) brewery! _______________

Yelp
First time checking this brewery out and wow was I impressed. It's such a cute place to come with friends or date. I was able to enjoy their cheeseburger and to my surprise I was glad to see they offer sour beers as it's the only kind I like. I truly enjoyed the drinks and to top it off they had one of the best tasting key lime pies. It was crazy tart but wow did I love it. Can't wait to come here again and bring more people along. Parking will definitely be tricky so plan ahead to drive around and try to find some street parking.

Yelp
FULL DISCLOSURE: I don't drink. I'm always very hesitant to get a meal at a brewery that serves food, because despite their conceit I am not there for any of the libations that constitute their raison d'être. So maybe their beers are great and I just don't know it. My taste buds can't tell the difference between any beer and a flu vaccine shot that came right out of the centrifuge and got poured into my glass. Anyway, the food was just okay. I had the Herb Butter Burger, which advertized "double swiss cheese" but the not-very-double-y amount of cheese sauce was quite overpowered by the bacon. Decent bacon though. The burger was a little overdone; maybe a fluke. I got it with tots that were very good, and I did get their homemade cream soda, which had a nice honey flavor to it that sets it apart from how creme soda usually turns out. The service was outstanding! Very friendly people, every single one of them, and they're working hard in there and serving you quickly. It was Winter Part Deux when I was in there, so the patio wasn't set up, but they seem to have a really nice patio. There's also a party room in the back which I think you can reserve. A lot of people were hanging out and having a great time, drinking and playing games. I'd like this a lot more if I were a beer drinker, I reckon.

Yelp
Great beers great small plates great business people great place to meet friends, old and new a great addition to the craft brew family

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Stowed away behind an industrial park off of University Ave, their beautiful patio and historic building make for an amazing summer spot. They clearly care about their food, because they're scratch-making just about everything from what I can tell. The nachos with beer cheese and pork were fantastic. The beer is very solid as well with a great selection. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Lee K.

Yelp
This is truly a diamond in the rough. We felt like we were looking for a brewery in an industrial park, and sure enough, we were. This place is amazing. The place has a large amount of indoor seating, but they have an enormous patio as well. The atmosphere and the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The craft bees and cocktails are worth the trip alone. There were about 6 different beers and some craft seltzers as well. In our group we tried almost all of them and everyone loved what they had. The most popular was the heffeveisen. In addition to the great drinks, the food is excellent as well. There were great starters, sandwiches and sides. We loved everything.
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
The beer is awesome here, but the food really sets this place apart. I have been several times and always have a great meal.

Yelp
Clocking in my first Sidewalk Dog passport visit! The patio is amazing and Maggie and I were joined by so many other dog friends. Order inside, so bring someone to watch your pup while you put in an order for your beer and meal. I got the vanilla latte beer and was so grateful to see that it wasn't a stout! So rare for coffee-centric brews. It was light and refreshing with a great balance of coffee flavor. The food here is amazing. I got the burger with onion jam, and my date got the chicken sandwich - I snuck a bite. So crunchy, juicy, and flavorful! The burger was AWESOME. They've gotta be homemade burgers. The bacon was so good. And everything worked together perfectly. We both got fries, following another review recommendation, and were very happy. There are WAY more foods here we want to try, so we'll be back.

Yelp
I love puns and wordplay, so "Urban Growler," plus their motto "We're beer for you," are immediate winners for me. It is a cool space with a spacious patio and a great backroom with tables, a cozy couch, and corn hole. The bartender was helpful and offered tastes, and my Irish Dry Stout was delicious. Watch out Guinness, Urban Growler is Beer for Me.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Our pub pass brought us to the Urban Growler for dinner and a beer on their dog-friendly patio. We split two meals, the carnitas tacos and a pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent. Husband said the pulled pork was best he's had. Meat was tender and juicy, topped with slaw for a nice crisp, bun was grilled....really good and the fries, oh the fries. I normally try to just eat one or two to get the salt but these we had to fight over. Carnitas were excellent too. I love the little picked onion-cucumber salad served on the side as well. Beer was cold and refreshing and enjoyed on their lovely patio. When we were leaving, a small combo band was playing outside. Nice was to spend a Friday night.

Yelp
I had a fabulous time at Urban Growler over the weekend. DELICIOUS FOOD and a dog friendly patio with lots and lots of outdoor seating options. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a large group and it was an easy and fast order-at-the-bar situation where we were given numbers and staff brought meals out to the table. I am sober but the Honey Cream Soda was SO GOOD. The patio was beautiful and my dog was very comfortable.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
A woman owned brewery, how amazing! They do have a full menu, so you will not be able to bring your pups inside. The bartender was friendly and willing to help us find the right drink. I have also visited for a corporate event and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Yelp
Great fish sandwich with a coleslaw side. Solid selection for drinks in addition to the brews. Sat outside on patio -quite the treat after last weekend's snow!

Yelp
I absolutely love this place!! The service is top notch! I mean it is so so good! They offered the Frogtown Curling club as discount as part of the Aurora Spiel so my team and I went over there between games. We each had a beer and some French fries. Fries were delicious!! And I really liked my Citra. I didn't love the Porter and was grateful I could do a taste of it. The mac n cheese looked to be out of this world! I didn't have any but getting lots of food is on my list for the next time I go back. Planning to make this a regular stop on my list. Owners are amazing and have really put so much thought and effort into making their brewery one of the best in the Cities!

Bruh. If you like beer, delicious food, a great atmosphere, and some dope employees; you should go here. Urban growler is and always will be one of my favorites breweries in town. I feel as though I've done Urban Growler a disservice by not reviewing them sooner and for that, I apologize for that most horrid transgression. My only hope is to appease the great owners and employees of Urban Growler by encouraging literally anyone I meet to come here. I had the Rueben and be prepared, because it'll knock your socks off. We also got the 50/50 split of tater tots and fries which is a must. My wife got the vegan bowl which was a delight to the taste buds. One thing of note: the server dropped my Rueben and didn't miss a beat by cleaning it up, apologizing, bringing me a new one, and cracking a joke about the whole thing. 5/5 would recommend for absolutely everyone.

Yelp
Looove Urban Growler. I'm a big fan of their De-Lovely porter, their stout, and the creative on the rocks cocktails they invent. My partner can drink the Cowbell Cream Ale allll day long, but he also likes their seasonal creations and hazy IPA. Food is a bit hit or miss - the burgers and all the fried stuff are inevitably greasy, but salads, bowls, anything with their beer cheese, and most of the appetizers are good. Service is efficient and usually friendly. Plus, there's a lot of outdoor seating for those balmy Saturday afternoons. UG hosts a lot of events, from Maker's Markets to live music and paint and sip classes. They usually have trivia on Tuesdays.

Yelp
Went with a group of 6 for lunch and drinks on a Saturday afternoon. There is open seating and it was quiet so we got a seat easily. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was DIVINE. A fun mix of flavors with honey mustard and BBQ sauce both being on the fried chicken sandwich made for a fun twist. The reason I am only giving 4 stars because there was not a large beer selection. They had no more than 25 beers which I did not think was enough for a brewery.

Yelp
This was our very last stop in our pub pass and I wish we would have gone sooner! Great beer, friendly staff and the best part they HAVE FOOD!! Why many breweries don't have food is beyond me as who doesn't love having a bit to eat while drinking a beer! Even tho it was winter they had a bonfire going which I thought was so fun as we just aren't comfortable being IN a place for too long just yet. We stayed warm by the fire while enjoying our beers. I had the golden blonde ale and my Husband had a lemon one. Both really good!! Will definitely stop back in the summer to see how fun the outdoor area is as well!

Yelp
I have been to Urban Growler multiple times and have always had a good experience. Now I make a monthly trip there because my book club meets there. They always have some of their standard beers on tap along with a rotating selection. You can almost always ask for a sample too if you aren't sure what you want to order. I am always excited to grab a bite to eat here too. My big go to orders are the garlic Herb Butter Burger, the Twin Cities basket (Tots and Fries), & the nachos. Only thing I would say about the food that I would like to see different is the ability to ask for a less done burger. They are always still juicy, but I do like a little more pink in my burgers. The Beertenders are super friendly and knowledgeable, and when there is a line they are quick to take orders and get people taken care of. Their taproom has a lot of space and even have a Barrel room to rent out for events. In the summer their patio is cozy and has a decent amount of room.

Yelp
I was recommended to Urban Growler by a friend when I mentioned I was looking for somewhere for lunch while brewery hopping in the Twin Cities. She told me this was the first women-owned brewery in Minnesota, so I had to check it out! The place was a bit hard to find for an out-of-towner as it appears to be in a more industrial area. There seemed to be a small parking lot, then mostly street parking. There were a few bikes parked out front too, so it must be near a bike path. The building and outdoor space are beautiful! You walk in and place your food and beer order at the counter. I opted for the Vanilla Latte Blonde ale and a burger with tator tots. The beer was quite good, and the food came out pretty quick! Burger was pretty standard, but the tots were nice and crispy! Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to grab a bite and enjoy some great beers!

Yelp
The candied bacon they were featuring sounded amazing and y friend and I were so hype to try it. Unfortunately it had zero texture of candy and looked like bacon that had a clumped greasy, sweet coating - very anticlimactic. Then we ordered the pork taco which were sad. The pork was well seasoned and juicy, they also put the cotija cheese under the pork so it melts which is kind. BUT the only other additions to the taco were some sautéed veggies and pickled onion. It was very lackluster and I needed some sort of sour cream, guac, sauce, cilantro!! etc. Chips and salsa were also a thumbs down and may have just been store purchased. WiFi: drinkthebeer

Yelp
Urban Growler has been a consistent favorite for a number a years. Their menu only gets better and stays fairly affordable. The beer is good with a variety of brews. Love the outdoor space for summer months.

Yelp
We were looking for a great brewery that serves food to check out before a MNUFC game at Allianz Field - and Urban Growler definitely fit the bill! We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with the friendly bartenders and talking through beer recommendations. If you can consume lactose (sadly, I can't) you definitely need to order the Vanilla Latte Blonde Ale. I tried a few sips and was in love. The summer shandy I ordered was a close second though. For dinner, Hubby had the nachos with pork. He really liked them, though wished there was more pork. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and was wowed by how delicious it was.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my experience at Urban Growler; including service. My favorite brews were the De-Lovely Porter and Door County Cherry Sour. Highlights from the food menu included their hot & spicy wings, beer cheese dip, and carnitas. Urban Growler offers an events space (Barrel Room), lots of lot and street parking, local artwork for sale, and tasteful merchandise to round out your experience. Highly recommend,

Yelp
What a nice find. The place is huge and on a Friday night which is the only day fish fry is available, the place was packed. Good selection of beers, an interesting take on the old fashioned as well as non alcoholic beverages are available to quench your thirst. The fish fry plate has two panko battered pieces that are sizable for a single portion. The texture is crisp on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside - in other words perfect. The fish on the inside can seem to be a tad under seasoned though. The coleslaw is heavenly, light and perfectly seasoned. The tartar sauce is just right. Even the fries are perfect, crisp and well seasoned. What I especially appreciate is the warm service with the owner personally asking guests if everything was ok. Nice! One suggestion, after one snags a table it isn't clear whether you should wait for a server or go to the front to order food. The latter is the right option. A table near us sat waiting for someone to come get their order until they finally realized no one was coming. So maybe better communication on that front. Apart from that, a strong contender for the face off IMHO.

Yelp
We came here right as they were closing but still were impressed. Super friendly staff, cool ambiance and great brews. Perfect chill date spot. Hidden gem for sure.
