"Urban Hawker is one of the few truly great food halls in New York, with a focus on Singaporean vendors. In particular, Hainan Jones, a Hainese chicken-and-rice spot, is the simple-but-filling takeout option you need near Penn Station." - Eater Staff
"An Anthony Bourdain–endorsed Singaporean hawker concept that was among the venues taken over by Hospitality Firm during its recent expansion efforts." - Melissa McCart
"If you’re with a group of people who can’t agree on something to eat or who don’t have the patience for a full sit-down meal, Urban Hawker is a great choice. This sprawling food hall is inspired by Singapore’s hawker markets, and there’s a high concentration of excellent food here (also: free WiFi and nice public restrooms). We especially love the chicken and rice from Hainan Jones, and the pork adobo from Tradisyon." - carina finn koeppicus
"This Singapore-style hawker food hall near Radio City hosts 17 vendors. The hall is generally pretty crowded, and getting a table is like one big game of musical chairs, but some of the lines move surprisingly fast. Daisy’s Dream, Padi, and Mr. Fried Rice are a few of our favorite vendors that will get you out of there in under 15 minutes. The one thing you shouldn’t count on getting during your weekday lunch hour is a chicken set from Hainan Jones. They make our favorite dish in the food hall, but waits can get up to 45 minutes and they run out early in the day." - team infatuation
"Midtown is now home to Urban Hawker, NYC’s first Singapore-style hawker food hall. The project was initially conceived in part by Anthony Bourdain, who enlisted entrepreneur KF Seetoh to help pursue his dream of delivering Hainanese chicken rice and spicy chili crab to New Yorkers who don’t have their own travel TV shows. The food hall hosts 17 vendors, many of whom came straight from Singapore. Check out our list of favorites, then eat your way through Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the rest of Southeast Asia." - team infatuation
