I like this place. Punjabi style. Food were milder, not too spicy, so good. Lots of Punjabi butter. Good food. The down side is onion with food we need to pay for $0.99. yellow cut onion, with green chilies.

Went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday (party of 8). The food was amazing, staff was warm, friendly, efficient and professional. Even the owner, Mr Happy Singh who happens to be from Amritsar, came to thank us for the business. The place isn’t super fancy but nice. It wasn’t crowded, so we could have a nice conversation and also enjoy the food. Would definitely go back

In my journey to try as many Indian places in the DFW area, I came across Urban Tadka. I've never had Punjabi style so this was my first to try it. From one of the videos it appeared they had a buffet - my preference since I can try a little of everything. At lunch they do not. Still the food came out piping hot and fresh. I got garlic naan and chani masala. It was very good. Thankfully they gave me a plate to let the masala cool a bit. I liked that they gave me a bottle of water to go with my cup of water. The masala came out "medium" on the heat scale, which was good enough for me. The naan was hot and seemed fresh but it was a little tough to tear and chew. Maybe I'm used to more southern Indian style food. The service was very attentive and patient.

We ordered veg appetizers and Indian gravies with Indian breads (Naan, rotis, kulcha). From those items, Indian gravies and veg appetizers are okay. They are tangy if you order, as a mild spicy will be fine, since it will give you some Indian spice and appetizers can be improved more, services from them is 5 stars. They were super busy and still attended as quickly and perfectly every time. If you are planning to go, try to avoid too much rush on a weekend night. You need to wait for food for 30 to 40 mins to come to your table, and parking can be difficult to find, since this area is super busy with all the other restaurants nearby. Overall, a new experience. Try it with your friends and family.

First time at Urban Tadka. Previously got positive reviews from friends and bang on point was our experience as well. Delicious food and affordable price. We loved every dish we had (probably the Roomali roti not that much - because it wasn’t as thin as it should be and was complemented with butter which is not needed). But other than that I would rate this place 10/10 for their food. Special mention to their Goat Curry, Reshmi Chicken and Ambarsari Fish Tikka - all were exceptional along with their dips and seasonings. We ordered the following: 1. Ambarsari Fish Tikka - $12.99 2. Reshmi Chicken - $17.99 3. Roomali Roti (*2) - $10.98 4. Garlic Naan (*3) - $11.97 5. Aachari Chicken - $17.99 6. Goat Rogan Josh - $18.99 7. Onion Salad - $0.99 Now coming to the service - we did not like few aspects. The restaurant closing time is supposedly 9:30 PM and we entered at 9:00 PM. It’s absolutely fine for the waitress to tell us or remind us that kitchen closes soon - but when we asked her for couple of minutes to order the main course post ordering the appetizers, she was adamant that she can’t take any further order. Well that didn’t go well with us, perhaps she was doing her expected job but a certain level of common understanding is needed and 2 minutes makes no difference. Well had to order in a hurry. Other than that we have no complains and everything was 5 stars.

I visited Punjabi Tadka and tried the Missi Roti and Methi Chicken both were flavorful and enjoyable. However, I was disappointed with the Lassi the curd tasted too sour, and when I raised it, the staff simply said, “It’s like that only,” and handed me sugar. Also, the Jeera Rice lacked flavor and was quite sticky not the texture or taste you’d expect. Overall, some dishes are worth trying, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in consistency and customer service.

Google
We tried here 1. Onion pakora 2. Aloo Tikki 3. Samosa 4. Shahi paneer 5. Butter chicken 6. Garlic Naan 7. Butter Naan 8. Ras malaii 9. Chilli chicken All the food we tried here was very tasty I would definitely recommend this place.

Google
Probably the best butter chicken I’ve ever had. It was perfectly spiced and full of great flavor. It comes with perfectly cooked rice. I also ordered garlic naan. It too was perfectly made. Also, the chicken was cut up into smaller pieces than most places I’ve been to for butter chicken. The is made for a much more enjoyable meal than the large chunks of chicken most places use in this dish. The service at the front door wasn’t particularly friendly but the food made up for that.

Yelp
I arrived at the restaurant around noon on a Saturday. There were about three other groups of people eating at that time. I was greeted by a hostess. She went and prepared my table quickly and then walked me to it. I spoke with a waitress (maybe manager) and she told me that the restaurant has food from Northern India. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken and it was delicious. This was the first time I ever ordered this dish at any Indian restaurant and I loved it. Finger licking good! I also had some garlic naan as I could not help myself. I liked the ambiance, food, and the service. It could be a nice dinner date location if they dimmed some of the lights. I will definitely return!

Yelp
Seating was easy, parking was plentiful. Food was slightly above average. Prices and quantity were just right. There are so many similar restaurants it would be difficult to return.

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch with my family here. Enjoyed the samosas, mixed veg pakora and hari veg kebab to start followed by the mushroom sabji, malai kofta and veg biryani. Authentic Punjabi flavors, ambience is festive and dish ware is fun. Service was quick and the food was clean, not greasy and flavorful.

Yelp
Happy there is a solid Punjabi restaurant in the area. BYOB Food was delicious. Can't wait to go back and have the lamb korma, butter chicken and naans again. Halwa dessert hit the spot! Service could be better. I think our waitress forgot about us after the food was served. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Visited for the first time a week ago and it was AMAZING!! All the dishes we ordered were so flavorful!! The staff was all so great too!! I will definitely go back soon!! We ordered Lamb Shahi Korma, Paneer Butter Masala and Chicken Tikka Masala!! I'm drooling just typing that out!!! Yum!!
google avatar

Yelp
Best authentic North Indian Food in DFW! The food hits the spot every time and I only wish it was located closer to my house. Service and staff is always good. Must Try: Dal Bukhara, Kofta Lajawab, Chili Paneer

Yelp
Delicious, flavorful food, ambiance is nice. Very pricey for Indian food however, especially when there is comparable food at a little more reasonable price.

Yelp
Food- hands down the best malai kofta I have had anywhere. I love malai kofta and I tend to order it at most indian restaurants, but urban tadka has my favorite malai kofta. Naan is pretty good as well. Service- as they have grown popular their service has gone down hill. They are not accommodating and often get into quarrels with the customers. They are the only indian restaurant that charges their customers for lemon and onions, this is bizarre. I have seen them bring out the curry way earlier than the naan and not help the customers out when the curry is cold since the naan/roti came out so late. They definitely need to make some changes to how they treat their customers. Ambiance- it's pretty nice. Typical Indian restaurant

Yelp
A wonderful Indian restaurant found. Simple setting. Attentive service. A large menu to ponder over. A welcoming wait for their freshly made-to-order dishes! On this Saturday evening, creamy yogurt forward "Mango Lassi"; characterless "naan"; flavorful "Tandoori Chicken"; and, the dish I'll come back for again and again, UT's succulent *Lamb Saagwala*! CHEERS!

Yelp
Hands down some of the best Indian we've ever had. This Punjabi establishment is one of our favorites. The strip has seen better days, but that doesn't stop this place getting packed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the chicken tandoori- juicy on the bone pieces seasoned to perfection that came out sizzling. The lamb vindaloo and butter chicken. We especially enjoyed the saagwala- stewed spinach and mustard greens. The breads were delicious; probably one of the best lachha paratha we've had in a long time. Already have been back to bring a friend who was visiting. He too thought it was delicious.

Yelp
Went for dinner w a work colleague. Food was tasty , portions were generous and service was ok+ - what else can you ask for? We got : 1) chicken tilkka masala - was juicy and came sizzling hot. Very good dish . 4.5/5 2) saag paneer - felt fresh and rich, very good . 4/5 3) chicken kebab - a bit on the dry side . 3/5 All together the menu seem to have some promising dishes to try out . Yelp
Urban Tadka is a culinary excellence and a great place to taste the best north Indian cuisine. We have been going to this place for years at the Irving location and is our go to spot for our celebrations and friends and family getting together. The staff provides us a very fast, reliable and very friendly service. The food resonates the best in have had and the Smoky baingan, saag paneer, garlic naan, missi roti, rumali roti, kofta curry and lamb biryani are our favorites. Daal makhani and chicken tikka masala are a staple but bring joy to kids and adults both. For one of my jain friend we order Bhindi Masaledar with Panjratni daal and it tastes amazing. We even love the pakoras, kebabs are very appetizing. The lassi in a traditional metal glass brings the memories and paints a scenery of a khaat and summertime in Punjab,India. lives up to the name "Urban Tadka"

Yelp
My friends have been talking about this place for so long and I'm glad I finally got to try it. It was very busy but we were able to be seated in a few minutes. The menu is extensive and has so much variety. The food came in these cool dishes and it was all delicious and authentic. The lamb shahi korma was my favorite. I plan on bringing my parents here.

Yelp
Stopped by for a weekday lunch. Looks like they no longer have buffet. We ordered Saag Chicken, Mutton Curry, Lamb Curry and Achari Paneer. Chicken and mutton were ok! Paneer was good. Butter Naan was very good. 18$ for chicken and 19$ for Mutton is a bit much and way too priced for quality.
google avatar

Winfred S.

Yelp
We recently came back to this Indian/Punjabi restaurant after COVID 19. We had been prior when they had their buffet. The food was actually tastier since it was made to order. We started with the Samosa and Chicken Tikka. Both were very tasty. I did not realize the difference between the Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken was that the Tikka was boneless and Tandoori had bone in it. We then had Rumali Roti along with the Aloo Paratha. This was accompanied with Chicken Biryani, Mixed Vegetables, and Goat Curry. For desert we had Carrot Gajrela (Sweet Carrot Dish with butter and sugar). All of it was very tasty. This place has very tasty Punjabi food. We will return again.

Yelp
The food is all right. But here's how these guys need to understand what customer service means. In all Indian restaurants everywhere forever when you order Mughlai/punjabi food, onions, come on the side, standard, if the customer requests it. in 40 years of my life, nobody has ever asked me to place an order for it. and I have lived across this country and I've ordered thousands of dollars of Indian food over the years . These guys are over their heads. There is a waitress called Mona who has all sorts of attitude to add a few onions to a $60 order . Restaurants are doomed.
google avatar

Yelp
The lamb vindaloo is excellent. Staff is friendly and the Restaraunt is nicely kept. No alcohol.

Yelp
Solid food and service. Good location as well. Priced a little higher compared to quality but they do a solid job.

Yelp
Honestly my favorite Indian restaurant in Dallas!!! It's my friends and I's go-to place when we crave Indian food which is pretty often. My favorite dish is the lamb korma. Korma is my absolute favorite Indian dish but it can be hard to find good korma. Urban Tadka's korma is the perfect balance of creamy, nutty, spicy, and sweet. The portions are generous and it's usually at least 2 meals for me. I've also tried their eggplant bharta curry, which is also really good and has such a unique smokey flavor. But honestly, I love their lamb/chicken korma too much to ever order anything else.

Yelp
Okay, so where do I start? I went there with a big party of us tonight. It was 10 people in total, 3 couples with kids. I will start off by saying we got to the restaurant super late and with a big party we felt rushed a little. I understand that we were late, but if time was a concern then we shouldn't have been seated. Anyhow, the food and service was overall fairly decent. The popodoms tasted bad, burnt and with a weird taste. You can't blame the restaurant for them as they are typically purchased in. The other food that were ordered were as follows and all the dishes were extremely tasty. 1) butter chicken 2) saag paneer 3) malai Kofta 4) basket of naan 5) rice, salad and Raita Oh I forgot the Seekh kebab. The mains were super tasty and I feel they were probably some of the best North Indian tasting food I have eaten. However, the seekh kebabs were dry. The reason for this is the restaurant uses ground chicken l, I feel that all restaurants should use a combination of lamb and chicken as this will help the meat retain a lot more moisture. Overall I rated the restaurant as above average and would definitely eat here again. If you decide to give it a try you will not be disappointed

Yelp
A friend told me about this place, I am happy it was suggested. We went on a Friday night, so it was a bit busy, but the atmosphere was really enjoyable and very comfortable. Prior to placing our order, we were told the kitchen was a bit behind, but the wait was actually satisfactory. I had the fish curry (mild), and a regular naan. The mild curry was a bit spicy, but did not take away from the overall deliciousness of the meal. The meal was so dang good, and plentiful. I had enough to enjoy the next day, and it was even better than the day prior. This is one of my top five places for Indian food, it is great!
google avatar

Nina K.

Yelp
VEGAN OPTIONS - Yes and No. It's Indian food, so you should ask based on whichever dishes you're planning to order. But it's *highly* likely that everything contains at least a little bit of butter, ghee, or a dollop of yogurt, somehow somewhere. Trust me on this. This is a Punjabi spot, serving up all your Punjabi faves. The food is tasty, the service is great. I enjoyed my food and had zero to compain about.

Andrea Argyle B.

Yelp
This is my favorite Indian food restaurant in the metroplex. The food is delicious and the service is great.

Arun Kumar S.

Yelp
Food was good however the service and hospitality were poor. We decided to sit bit longer after lunch since we friends met after long and the owner started giving rude/uncomfortable looks and we had to leave even though it was around 2 pm when its not busy time.So go there only if you are in hurry.

A R.

Yelp
This place may seem unassuming, but it offers the best value. The owner is personally involved and stops by tables to engage in conversations. The food is fresh and has a tasty, homemade feel rather than a traditional Mughlai taste. It reminds me of the food I used to enjoy in Delhi.
google avatar

Seema P.

Yelp
Excellent Indian food! The drinks were delicious especially the lassi. We got a combination of veggie and non veg options and both were so tasty! The chicken biryani is so flavorful. Ambiance is nice as well. The dals were very creamy and delicious.

Maria E.

Yelp
0 stars. We were seated and waited for 20 minutes and no one waited on our table. We got up and left, and commented to the hostess no one took care of us and they did nothing. Not even an apology. If you are not Indian in ethnicity don't bother going here. You will get terrible service.

Yelp
Urban Tadka primarily serves up Punjabi staples, but they also do have a bunch of Pan-Indian offerings. I've been in their establishment for buffets, when the world was (just a wee, wee bit) better than it is at present, but this time it was good old delivery. For appetizers, it was the spicy shrimp. Lots of spice battered and fried plump and juicy shrimp served with a mint dipping sauce. By spicy, it doesn't come with a lot of heat (I don't have much of a heat tolerance), but has a complex spice blend of flavors. The shrimp itself was cooked to perfection and not rubbery in the slightest. Great start to the meal. Lachcha paratha was great, it's a flakier, even sort of tiered version of a traditional Indian flatbread, which takes more time to make and lots of practise. It had a crisp exterior and a chewy middle - great bread. This went well with the Lamb Vindaloo, which is a rendition of a dish from a totally different region of India (Goa in particular), but I like to be naughty and cross borders. Fusion is the conception of cultural cohesion (I like alliteration too). The lamb was moist and succulent. If you like your meat lean, this may not be the dish for you, because it came with lots of fat. Fat = Flavor. The gravy itself was not very hot (Again, my tolerance is low, so don't worry if yours is either) and was rich and full of flavor. The tadka daal (yellow lentils) was robust and had a depth of flavor. The tangy flavor that came with the tomatoes, and the brightness that comes with cilantro, made it perfect to pair with breads or rice, whatever you may prefer. Punjabi restaurants in my experience always do their lentils right. Ended the meal with a carrot dessert, called gajar ka halwa, which in this case was not too sweet, (think of shaved carrots in a pudding format, included with nuts/fruit for flavor and texture). Great experience as always at this joint.

Yelp
I have enjoyed many great meals here, each being exceptionally well prepared and delicious! Some of the best Indian food in DFW is found here!

Yelp
Food was awesome. Would 100% go back. Service was great. The place is a bit of a hole in the wall. They can accommodate Jain, vegan, and vegetarian food. The naan basket was lovely!

Yelp
Food was delicious! Best Chicken Tikka Masala I've found without going all the way into Dallas if you live in Fort Worth or further west. Service was good. We will definitely go back again soon!

Yelp
Well nice North Indian restaurant you wish for. After so ling we have authentic north india flavours in almost all dishes we ordered especially Sarso ka Saag and makke ki roti. Honestly I am not a big fan of the sarso is saag but I really lived their sarso is saag with white ghee on it. It elevated the flavours and aroma. Next to chicken tikka which of our surprise was a sizzled. Chicken was little tight and chewy but still we loved it. Kash mere chicken curry was but we were really disappointed by rumali roti and Daal makhni taste and flavours. Rulami roti is supposed to be made from all purpose flour but they made it from wheat flour. Lastly the ambience was okay and but little suffocating and to their service, they need to improve the same. We have waited for at least 10-15 mins for just a naan and in the end we got tandoori roti in place of naan.
google avatar

Naveen K.

Yelp
Went there with my buddies today for dinner after movie.. I would say this is one of the best Punjabi restaurants in North Irving. Right amout of oil & spices. We were there just after the tandoori section was closed. But still the staff let us order & dine in. Food was delicious. We ordered daal makhani, lamb vindaloo & Smokey baingan with rumali roti, naan, rice & my buddies ordered Punjabi salty lassi & Patiala sweet lassi. Everything was delicious. fast service & friendly staff.
google avatar

Abraham b.

Yelp
Excellent food, friendly staff and in general great restaurant. They might have the best assortment of naan bread in the DFW area. If you like spicy food you can adjust the spice level and they do a great job in catering to that need. I really love this place.

Mukul B.

Yelp
Best Sarson ka Saag and Makki Roti in the town. Everything else was flavorful too. Loved it

Yelp
The food is DELICIOUS! The ambiance (seems to be) authentic, timely service, and a great place to get takeout. I love this place!

Yelp
Fantastic tandoori barbecue. The garlic naans were outstanding. And the curries were well made. Service is prompt. All round excellent experience

Yelp
Stupidly overpriced. Took myself there for lunch. No lunch specials. To get a meat dish and a vegetable dish would have been about $18 + $15 + tax + tip. I got up and headed for the door. I spoke about the prices to the lady who seated me. Of course, she did not speak one word of English!

Ashish B.

Yelp
I just took off from Urban Tadka The staff was so so rude - when we requested if we can be seated in a bit better place - guy shouted at me and my family Don't go there / they will treat you like crap shit

Yelp
I am just so happily overwhelmed with joy that I wanna cry. Irving has so many Indian spots (makes sense due to the large Indian population). I've been disappointed in a lot of them, but some restaurant have a few really spot on items. This place reminds me of a Punjabi moms home cooking. It is not too oily, it's FULLY flavorful (you actually taste the variety of spices instead of a butt load of oil or hot spice only). I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the lamb vindaloo with a side of naan bowl (came with bullet naan, garlic naan, normal naan) Everything was amazing. Amazing amazing amazing. The chicken tikka masala has a creamy but spicy flavor, the lamb vindaloo has great pieces of lamb that wasn't full of fat, and the naan was HUGE for such a great price (I think $4.99 for like 6 very large pieces of naan). The only critique I have would be to flavor the chicken a little more before putting into the sauce so it doesn't taste bland. Even then, it had excellent chicken breast pieces. I will order other items, but these two are definitely a go to.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
So glad that this restaurant re-opened after being closed during Covid. The dishes are so wonderful and flavorful! Will go weekly for lunch!

Erick H.

Yelp
Good food, but REALLY SMALL portions of rice, so we had to request more. I was charged $12 and we still barely had enough rice to finish our 2 entrees. I doubt I will return to this restaurant.
google avatar

Michaela R.

Yelp
This is one good Indian restaurant. The food in the buffet at lunch here though not that much of a selection are all pretty good. I love their chicken masala, chicken and veggie korma,. lamb curry , tandoori and their naan is freshly served, hot and yummy. I have never tasted any that upsets me so far :). It's a little busy here at lunch so be ready for that. We ordered paneer masala, naan and veggie korma for to go and served it in our anniversary party and most of our guests love them. It's worth a try. It's seldom you can find a good Indian restaurant where you will enjoy all food. Aside from buffet, you can order from the menu as well and it's our 2nd time here. We surely will be coming back to try more from the menu.

Binal P.

Yelp
Excellent Service with quality food. Food was so delicious. they made food from scratch everyday. I will definitely recommend Urban Tadka.

Zen Z.

Yelp
Probably won't be back... My Tikka Masala had mostly gristle in it and the Naan was burnt. This completely ruined my appetite... The cashier also slammed my credit card on the counter. This was a carry out order that I placed 30 minutes before arriving. I was quoted 20 minutes. My order was not ready. So I'm highly disappointed that it took this restaurant over 30 minutes to serve me gristle...

Zack S.

Yelp
Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, & naan was excellent! Flavors were very authentic. Our orders came out quickly and the service was great! We will be back!

Sunder S.

Yelp
My experience at this place was very bad and defiantly not a place to go with family or formal guests. bad to ok food and the Management is ready to fight abuse, harass and threaten if you dare to complaint for anything.

Yelp
Indulge yourself with authentic PUNJABI/NORTH-INDIAN cuisine at the 'URBAN TADKA' in Irving - Check it out! PUNJAB is a state in Northern India that derives its name from the five rivers that flowed thru the region making it the 'the bread basket of India', with the largest production of wheat, sugarcane, lentils, pulses, fruits and vegetables. In 1947 when India attained independence, Punjab like Bengal, was split into two with 2 of the 5 rivers in India, and the other 3 in Pakistan. PUNJABIs are industrious yet fun-loving folks who truly "work hard and party hard"! They are also incorrigible, insufferable foodies, whose passion for all things gastronomical would rival that of their compatriots from Bengal, Odisha, Lucknow and Hyderabad! While 'Daal-Roti' (lentils and wheat flat bread) is the staple diet for the hoi-polloi, Punjabi Cuisine has delivered an extravagant array of kababs and flat breads from its TANDOOR ("Clay Oven") including the NAAN, KULCHAS, BHATURAS, PARATHAS, especially the LACCHA PARATHA, the TANDOORI, ROOMALI, & MISSI ROTI which have no peers in any other cuisine across the Planet, period! Did you know that every Michelin starred Chef of Indian origin is a Punjabi, which is hardly a surprise?! HAPPY SINGH, a prodigal son of Punjab ("Punjab-da-Puttar") came to Dallas to work for Ericsson as a Telecom Hardware Engineer and was adversely impacted by the great recession of 2008. Struggling to find another job, he decided to fulfill his long cherished dream with support from his wife, (a gifted Chef herself), and 'URBAN TADKA' was born! URBAN TADKA offers a repertoire comprising the cuisine from the undivided PUNJAB - from Amritsar, Patiala, Gurdaspur (in India) as well as Lahore, Peshawar, Multan and Rawalpindi in today's Pakistan. I have personally witnessed the persistence of this man in the face of incredible competition in Irving, and despite my initial skepticism, he has not only established his brand in Irving, but has also extended it to a second location in Flower Mound, and has also brought his brothers and their wives from the Punjab to help him run the establishments, ensuring a high quality of the cuisine complemented with their personalized service and hospitality. We have been to URBAN TADKA many a time and love their DAALs (lentils), the BHINDI MASALEDAR (spicy okra), the KADHI served with PAKORAS (a yogurt based dish with fritters and a Punjabi specialty that is exceptional), the METHI and ACHAARI MURG (Chicken Curries) as well as the MUTTON ROGAN JOSH, complemented by their MISSI ROTI (flat bread made from chick pea flour embellished with herbs & spices) that is the best in this town! Their PATIALA LASSI (yogurt drink) is a house specialty that we would highly recommend, as well as the RABDI, RAS MALAI and GAJAR (Carrots) HALWA for dessert, for a truly gratifying experience of what the legendary cuisine of the PUNJAB (that is often synonymous with INDIAN cuisine in the West) is all about!
