Uva Next Door

I haven’t been to UVA yet, so this was my first introduction. Overall, it was a good experience, but maybe not quite living up to the hype. The atmosphere: Inside, the design is very cool, except it is deafening. We sat outside in the cabana, and it was surprisingly more private than I thought. The only negative is that the tables are so small. For three people, there was barely enough space for all of our plates. The staff: all of the staff we encountered were very kind. Our server was helpful, but I think she had the entire outside to herself, so sometimes she would go missing. The food: I thought the pasta had lots of flavor. Unfortunately, my filled pasta was a bit overcooked and lost some texture.

We went to Uva Next Door to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was a night to remember for sure. The atmosphere was great, food was delicious, and the staff was great. Shoutout to Luccas (two c’s for extra charming). He was absolutely fantastic. He was everything you want in a waiter: friendly, knowledgeable, and super attentive. If management is reading this, take this into account during his review. He’s one of your best. We’ll be back!

This place is PERFECT. Great vibes. Amazing food. Rockstar bartender. Amazing pizza. Homemade pasta. Finished off with a GIANT ice cream sundae for the table.

Overall rating: 4.4 I came here for martini $4 Monday & boy was it good! The burger was good too! But! I can’t give a higher rating bc it’s people on top of people. It’s so crowded. The service was very hard to get & a reservation is def recommended. If you’re a young professional looking for a fun night I recommend. But being 30+ & living in Brooklyn, this wasn’t worth it to me. If I’m in the area, on a Monday, I might swing by. The all day happy hour is totally worth it if you’re strapped for cash. Recommend to the kiddos.

Guys, I never do this. But this pasta is so disgusting I can’t even eat it and it was *30 Dollars.* The veal agnolotti is literally inedible. I am so grossed out. What a waste! Also, I ordered the “dog meatball” which I assumed was just a meatball for your dog or a side of meatball, bc it was *9 dollars* and it came just a cold pile of gross ground meat and no idea what it was supposed to be. Soooooo disappointed. Never again. Delivered quickly but otherwise literally never again.

We had visited uva before and decided to try uva next door and was not really impressed. The food was kind of basic and I thought the pizza would be better since it was what they focused more on. I really enjoyed the atmosphere however and really enjoyed their cocktails.

Hand down one of the BEST pizza places in NYC!! I have been to many spots, and Uva next door provides a delicious pizza. Thin, crispy and extremely tasty. The restaurant is small, so go early, or make a reservation. The other menu items are excellent too, but the pizza is the star in my opinion. Another upper east side gem!

Late review: We visited UVA Next Door on November 27 to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. As a party of nine, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who interacted with us so well and made sure we were all comfortable. Their attentiveness and effort to make my friend's birthday special didn't go unnoticed. The ambiance was amazing, creating the perfect setting for a celebratory evening. We ordered a variety of appetizers, including calamari, salad, and fries, along with three types of pizza and several pasta dishes to share. Every single dish was fantastic--flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend UVA Next Door for any occasion, whether it's a celebration or just a night out. Kudos to the staff for their excellent service and making the evening so memorable!

The spot is a lot more crowded and chaotic than I had expected. The tables are right on top of each other so it's difficult to get around, and the waiters are running to and fro trying not to bump into the seated guests. It's not the waiters faults but rather just the layout of the restaurant. The waiters themselves are super accommodating though, albeit seemingly stressed. I am an avid Italian foodie and I can't say anything too bad about the pasta, except that the portions are a little small. Especially with the price point, the portions do not feel big enough. The food was not exceptional but not bad, a decent Italian restaurant- but there are better places for better prices. I heard they have a good Martini Mondays though!

Great ambiance. The lighting isn't too dim, and overall, the vibe is very cozy. I enjoyed my experience at Uva Next Door and am excited to return. I ordered the Gnocchi di Ricotta, a balanced and creamy dish with a hint of truffle. I also ordered the Seasonal Burrata to start, a light appetizer that delivered a cool yet fluffy impression. The server and staff were also very kind, which is always a plus!

This place has a wonderful atmosphere and superb service. I ordered the Veal pasta (totally forgot the name) and it is genuinely a top 5 dish for me. This is an absolute must visit whether it's "UVA next door" or the main restaurant UVA. Give it a shot!

Had such a lovely dinner at UVA Next Door. It is perfect for a date, family gathering, or impressing your out of town guests. I loved their take on the aperol spritz. I was so refreshing on such a scorcher of a day. My friend and I split the margherita pizza and pasta with vodka sauce. Add the burrata- you won't regret it! The food was absolutely amazing and our server was so nice. Look forward to dining here again soon!

Maybe this is the least kept secrete on the UES but you have to go for martini monday! This was the perfect way to start the week with some friends. What's better than cheap drinks and delicious wood fired pizza?

We got a last minute table at this hopping outpost of the Lusardis-Uva empire. The space was dark, the tables close together and the playlists loud. This is definitely a millennial- gen Z scene. It's not a place to linger over a quiet meal. This may have been partially due to restaurant week, but the high energy fast moving vibe was pervasive. Having said that, the food was really good. The calamari was fried perfectly- crisp and light. My wife swooned over her meatballs and chicken parm. The veal paillard was very good and relatively light. The torta was like a very good brownie. The price oil cake was pretty good. The staff were lovely. Very good food but the ambience didn't work for us. If you like this kind of a scene, add a star.

Very good Italian food. They have gluten free pasta options and my friend said it was great. I got the garganelli alla vodka and also had some of the truffle fries. We ate outside at a cute table.

RATING: 9/10 PRO TIP: Martini mondays anyone? Come on a monday and you will get a $4 martini with any entree. That's a win right there . SOUR CHERRY MARTINI - in search of something a bit different as i'm not typically a martini person, I loved this, it was sweet, had a deep molasses sort of flavor with some bite to it from the cherry subtle sourness. Yummy. VEAL AGNOLOTTI I've learned that whenever available, no matter where, just get the agnolotti. I heeded my own advice and so glad i did - this was DELICIOUS. Perfectly al dente, tender tender veal on the inside, and a light, beautiful sauce to go along with it. Uva blew me away when I had their ricotta gnocchi (also on the menu at this location by the way) and they've done it again with the veal agnolotti. Just get it, seriously. FINAL CATEGORY: EXCELLENT (terrible / bad / ok / good / great / EXCELLENT)

Martini Monday is a most do in NYC!! My friend found this restaurant on TikTok and we came tonight to take part in their martini monday deal. They have a menu of $4 martinis that you can get all night with the purchase of a pasta, pizza, or entree. We had dirty martinis which really hit the spot. I also tried the Vesper. It was a little too boozy for me, but glad I tried it! To eat, we got a burrata pizza and ricotta gnocchi and split both. I loved both, but the gnocchi was out of this world amazing! The truffle sauce was so flavorful and not too heavy. I really loved this pasta! The pizza was also delish. It was almost like a burrata salad on pizza. Super fresh and light! For dessert, we got the donuts and a scoop of stracciatella ice cream. Both were great! The donuts had cinnamon sugar on the outside and came with nutella and caramel. I usually am a nutella girl, but I think the caramel sauce was my favorite out of the 2. The ambiance was cozy and inviting. We came around 9PM and it was still bustling. The service was super quick and since I was very hungry, this made me very happy! I look forward to coming back here!

Excellent, we had chicken parmigiana, grilled octopus ask for pasta on the side for the chicken parmigiana it was delicious, for dessert we had tiramisu fantastic this the first time I go to a restaurant and my friend who usually complains about the food every restaurant she goes to she enjoyed everything we ordered. I don't live in the area but I definitely plan to go back. The service was great the host and waiter were very nice and attentive. A pleasure to deal with. Ambiance very nice

Came here for their Martini Monday! It was $4 for a mini martini and $8 for a large one. It can be any martini (espresso, dirty, etc.). The espresso and the regular were the best in my opinion. The dirty was overly salty so I wouldn't recommend. Ended up getting a burger here and it was pretty good and filling. The service was on point. They always refilled our martinis and water, and they brought our food out quickly. The place got packed really fast after 7 so I would try to come before that if you don't have a reservation. Overall, a great deal on Mondays! Would recommend coming back!

Incredible Italian pizza pies!! It's a must try. The crust is so thin. The sauce is good and cheese is just right. The pie is shareable. It's medium sized. The appetizers are so good too - octopus, salmon tartare, shishito peppers. All very good. It's a bit dim inside. It can be quite noisy since they are so popular. Reservations are recommended, especially for prime eating time. They have Margarita Mondays for $4 for a cup size, which is great to try out the different flavors of margaritas.

We came here as a party for four at 6:15 on a Monday. The service was excellent. We were a group of four girls getting together after a long time and had a lot to discuss. Our waiter was great and extremely patient with us when it took us a few tries to decide what we wanted and he gave us great suggestions. When there was some miscommunication on ordering and the wrong dish came out. He immediately took the dish back and brought out the right one. The $4 babytinis were delicious. We ordered the espresso martini, dirty martini and the cherry martini. We loved them all, though personally the cherry martini was not for me We ordered the burrata and shishito peppers for starters and chicken parm, two pizzas (four cheese and truffle) and gnocchi with vodka sauce. Everything was delicious, the burrata was my favorite It was a bit warm and we asked the hostess if we could open the door for some air, which they did instantly. They were even great about refilling our waters. Once our meal was done, we did not feel rushed to finish our drinks and leave. They let us take our time and it was much appreciated. I can't wait to come back again, especially on a Monday for more $4 martinis!

Came here the other night for dinner and this place was a great find! One of the things I love is that if you come here on a Monday, all the Martinis you can drink are $4 with the purchase of any entree. Isn't that great? The Martini deals include a classic, wet, dry, dirty, espresso, vesper, and a sour cherry martini. I ended up getting the Espresso martini and it was fantastic. Fun place to grab food and drinks with a group of friends. It's on the louder side so if you want a date night, go to the sister restaurant Uva located adjacent to this one. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating but did drop plates on one of our phones (causing a scratch) and just ignored it. Salmon tartare was quite underwhelming - would not recommend. The grilled octopus was succulent, tender, and delicious. The pizzas are tasty and very shareable; the truffle one had huge truffle flavor. Cocktails are decent. Would come back, especially for night time pizza and good vibes

Delicious food, as well as beautiful, warm and intimate vibe with amazing ambiance. I want to specifically shout out our incredible waitress, Mia. She booked our party of 10, had custom menus, was so communicative and warm all night and so friendly as well! The service was really great! If you go to UVA Next Door especially with a big group, ask for Mia!!!

Came for Martini Monday and enjoy the food, drink, and atmosphere. Finally had the chance to walk in and indulge on their great Monday Special - $4 martini (1.5 oz) with any order of entree, pizza, or pasta. My friend and I ordered a margherita pizza and tagliatelle bolognese to share. The pizza was standard - can't go wrong with tomato, mozz, and basil. I definitely enjoyed the tagliatelle bolognese - not sure if it was the noodles or meat sauce but it was drenched in butter. NOT complaining because it was delicious but the butter flavor was STRONG. Washed everything down with a dirty martini (vodka) and it did the job. I can see why this spot (and next door) is always popping. Happy to have gotten the chance to stop by.

I had the margarita pizza and the pesto pasta (both vegan). The pizza was to die for. I mean I would eat that weekly if I lived here. The pasta was fresh and the pesto was pretty tasty. The pesto was definitely veggie forward which I loved but my partner wasn't the biggest fan of. The service was fine. They left us alone a lot but kept that water glass full. I tipped 20% for dinner, so I'd say it was good. The lighting was a little dark but Kyle be a mood I guess. All in all as a vegan I would recommend.

It was restaurant week so you know what that means. It means going out way too much, spending too much, and eating too much. In this instance, a friend of mine and I got together at this place. She chose it because it was near where she works. It's also near where I live so it was perfect. I got there a bit later than her but still relatively on time. It'd been a long time since we saw each other so seeing each other is always nice. Since it was restaurant week, we get 3 courses pre-fixe menu. I got the salmon tartare and she got the eggplant burrata (she is vegetarian). The salmon tartare was fresh and not overpowering in terms of fish taste. She liked her appetizer as well. She said the eggplant was seasoned well and went well with the burrata. We both got the orechiette with pesto. I don't know what they did to it but it was some of the best pesto I've ever had. It was fresh, vibrant, not too creamy, not too much basil, just perfect. I don't think we planned on eating the whole thing but I'm pretty sure I did. I think she got full about halfway through so she took the rest home. For dessert, she got the torta caprese, which is flourless chocolate and walnut brownie with ice cream. I got the olive oil cake since I'm always curious about olive oil cake. I think my friend died and went to heaven after eating her dessert. She said it was amazing and she wished she had the stomach room for it. My olive oil cake was a little crumbly from the polenta, but it had that orange flavor to it and it was just that touch of sweetness that was perfect for the end of a meal. By the end of it, we were both so stuffed that we had to go walk it off. It was very busy for a Monday night so make a reservation. Service was fast and the waitress made sure we got everything we needed. I would say for multiple course meals, that it's nice when they wait a while before bringing your next course. We need time to digest. But I will return for that pesto pasta and that olive oil cake, restaurant week or not.

As the little sister to UVA, UVA next door is a short cute date spot that actually takes reservations! Service was impeccable and the food was good too. Take advantage of their restaurant week menu to try out a few dishes for a great price (3 courses for $55).

Our friends live in the neighborhood and took us for dinner. We had a lovely meal, all the food was delicious but came out at odd times. 3 of us ordered pasta which came out pretty quickly. 2 ordered pizza and that came out 15 minutes after the pasta which was weird. So we all finished at different times. But again, all the food was yummy and service was friendly. I'd be happy to try it again!

Solid choice but pricey for the portion size. Overall food was good but not great. Very tight space and very noisy. I would say the pizza was the best choice. Staff was friendly and attentive

uva next door has a great menu. the portions are perfect especially for a small italian restaurant in the city. we've gone for martini monday which is a fantastic martini deal ($4 martinis all night monday- with the purchase of pizza or pasta) the service is always great. it's a small cozy restaurant that's great for a date night, dinner with friends, or a happy hour. they participate in restaurant week and have an amazing lunch and dinner deal. i always recommend uva next door.

I've been a few times and really love this place. Their take on the espresso martini with peppermint is so delicious, one of my favorite I've ever had. The food is exactly what you want from a neighborhood Italian spot and the vibe inside is buzzy and cozy. Lots of great gluten free options too!

i really enjoyed their pesto pasta like it was kinda addictive xD we also got the red pasta (i forgot the name) but it was a little too acidic for me. the pizza was reallyyy yummy and juicy & i would skip on the meatballs cus it was too small i would def return just for the pesto pasta the service was pretty fast & the ambiance was really nice because we sat outdoors during lunchtime

Tiny cute little spot with awesome food. Came here last night for dinner with friends and husband. We hadn't made a reservation so waited about an hour to get a table-you can put your name on the list and walk down the street to get a drink elsewhere while you wait and they texted us when ready. We did Martini Monday-$4 half/mini martini or $8 regular size any kind of martini when you purchase a pizza, pasta, or Restaurant week meal (one full entree per person to get the deal). They did not disappoint-the mar to his were delicious and strong/normal, not chinchy because of the deal. We got espresso martinis and dirty-both were great. To eat, we got the spring burrata salad and summer salad - both delicious, flavorful, and fresh. For our meals, we did the gnocchi (amazing, soft creamy goodness), and three different pizzas: zoo vittorio (super fresh tomato sauce, nice crisp on the crust, yummy prosciutto and fresh arugula), funghi y salsiccia (yummy mushroom and sausage with same great tomato base and perfect crust), and then the tartufata (amazing rich pesto). The ambiance is nice with low lighting but it was packed so quite loud. Highly recommend for amazing Italian food, drink, and service!

tasty italian fare with good vibes Came here for a casual din with friends. On a Wed night, this place was popping. Liked the energy and atmosphere right away. We started off the night with some soshito peppers and a marg pizza to get the taste buds cooking. For the main, I got the orochiette el pesto brocolli with sausage added in which was super yummy. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was so flavorful. Loved the creamy texture with the hit of pesto. Complemented the sausage perfectly. My main gripe is the portions are smaller than I expected, but it was yummy. Service was excellent as well. Overall good casual dinner spot

food was very good here! we were very late for our reservation, but they still let us seat as long as we could eat quicker before the expected reservation after us. we didn't have a problem with that. I got the penne vodka (had a fancier italian name but I can't remember it). we also ordered the margarita pizza, truffle fries, an eggplant dish, and shishito peppers. the appetizers were all super flavorful. as a plus, we were celebrating an engagement so they gave us the peppers for free along with a round of shots. good food, good service!

Cute date night spot or dinner with friends in UES! Nice ambiance, with candle lit tables, darker lighting, and sleek decor. I went with 3 people and we had a reservation - We split a Pizza Quattro Formaggi which was great- Thin crust, perfect amount of cheese. Delicious and great to share as an appetizer! I ordered a Tiramasu Next door (tiramasu espresso martini), which was pricey ($19), but delicious and perfectly made! My main course was the Orechiette al Pesto du Broccoli ($23). The dish was light and refreshing and pasta shape worked perfectly with the pesto sauce on the dish. The portion could have been a bit bigger - If we hadn't had the pizza as an appetizer, the entree alone would not had satiated my hunger. Service was OK - the wait staff was attentive and quick to act, but definitely felt that we were being rushed, despite being there for under an hour and having a reservation. Overall tasty and well-prepared food and drinks!!

I can't say enough good things about this place. They go above and beyond and are my go to restaurant on the UES. The food is great, the service is great and it's a lively party scene with good energy and a well trained staff. I recently celebrated my 59th birthday there with my husband , 4 daughters and 2 of their boyfriends. We were a big crowd and threw them a few curveballs...running late, adding people and one guest with celiac. They were so accommodating in every way. The place was packed yet they made us feel relaxed and well taken care of. Our server was never rattled. And the food! we shared 4 pizza's and 3 pastas and all were delicious. My daughter with celiac said her pasta was so good that she had to check with the server to make sure it was GF! If you are in the mood for a high energy, lively party place with great service and food then UVA Next Door is your place. Oh, and I had an excellent Grey Goose martini!

Food was fresh and prepped properly. Wait staff were professional and courteous. We took our young granddaughter there and totally loved their pizza and a pasta dish. I highly recommend this place

The place is great for a group or date night. It's dim light and average in noise so you can head yourself talk. For apps we ordered a pizza and grilled octopus. The pizza was delicious and the grilled octopus was also good, meaty. I would have liked it more charred. For entrees we really ordered 5 different pastas to share. Yes carb overload and don't know what we were thinking but we loved them all. We ordered: ricotta & spinach- yum; gnocchi- my favorite; pesto de broccoli- my least favorite; cavatelli chicken Ragu- also delicious; veal agnatoli- my second fav. Desserts we had the olive cake (just okay) and the sundae (yum). The service was also great, they were okay with making half our pizza with no meat. Very friendly all around.

AHHH-MAZING! Uva next door was next level good. Such a warm cozy environment inside which I loved. I normally drink wine when eating Italian food but the cocktail menu was so unique and fun I switched it up. The cocktails were great and strong but still delicious. For food we had calamari, gnocchi di ricotta, veal agnolotti and a pizza divola. All was incredible. The gnocchi wasn't too truffle forward and the agnolotti's sauce was to die for. Everything was very light too, we didn't leave feeling like we were stuffed.

TLDR; Great vibes, great food. Don't skip dessert. Living in the Upper East Side, I ate at Uva Next Door once a week. It was where I stopped by for dessert for one, brought my date, or introduced to family and friends. To me, Uva captures the quintessential NYC dining experience: an interior design that makes it feel that you've been transported to another place once you're seated at your table; dimly lit, slightly crowded, and a tad loud with wide open windows that bring the city life in; a menu priced just right that you feel like you're treating yourself but will order an appetizer, entree, dessert, and drinks and not feel guilty; attentive waiters who you sometimes wonder if they're putting on an accent when announcing your wine selection; and great food. It's a simple menu with great variety. Every dish I've had from pasta, pizza, to fish has been delicious. My favorites include: the calamari, orecchiette con pesto, and Branzino. Many times I came only for dessert. The milk chocolate polenta budino is a must order again and again and again. Small wine selection, but great pairings. My favorite is their Montepulciano d'Abruzzo offering. They also have a fun cocktail menu, which includes several Negroni variations.

While visiting friends in the UES for New Years, we enjoyed the prefix dinner menu at Uva Next Door. INCREDIBLE meal! $55 a person. Amazing rate, especially on New Years, and great portions! To start, we shared a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. It came chilled which is strange for red wine, but we all agreed it was suprisingly good like this. Everyone got their own appetizer. I enjoyed the Next Door Meatballs. The four, full-size meatballs were super flavorful in a sweet marinara sauce. The side dallop of ricotta was excellent. It also came with a slice of house made foccacia. My entree was the Gnocchi Di Ricotta. I honestly can say it was one of the top 5 meals I've ever ate. So so flavorful and good. I wish I had bread to dip in my leftover sauce at the end, LOL! My girlfriends got the Chicken Parm Xl and the Garganelli Alla Vodka. The Chicken Parm was your standard tasting Chicken parmesean. Sweet sauce, tasty, and they don't say "XL" for nothing! The garganelli alla vodka was standard as well. The pasta was al dente in a classic vodka sauce. For dessert we all got the olive oil cake. I had never had olive oil cake before but I've heard its a fan favorite at many restaurants. It was quite good! We had espresso martinis with our cake. Definitely not the best espresso martini I have ever had but still I was able to drink it. Our server seemed pretty distracted and all over the place, but that didnt take away from our night. We enjoyed a great meal, the restaurant itself was very cozy and closed it, or service time was great, we didn't feel rushed, and had a great night. We will be returning! Thank you Uva!

Stepped into this cozy spot for a Valentine's Day dinner, and it won me over! The grub, vino, and vibes were A+. The themed specials were adorable and didn't break the bank. Toss it on your list for a cute date spot!

Food was great! Definitely enjoyed every bite I've been to the original location UVA so I was prepared to enjoy this sister location. It was def worth the visit and the lamb meatballs for an app was very tasty as well. The only thing that could use work were the drinks. We had the fireside old fashion and the harvest moon both had solid flavors but need better quality alcohol to make it come full circle.

It's the pizza for me. So freaking good. I've been an Uva patron for more than a decade, the spot crushes the pasta game. Usher in Next Door, and that's where it's at for pizza and cocktails. The vibe is romantic, cozy, and intimate. I love love love love the pizza. The crust is where it's at. We got some pasta too, and while at first, it wasn't perfect - way too salty, they were open to feedback, quickly sorted it and got a fresh - and much better tasting dish. So happy with this gesture and ability to make it right without any question. I think this place and its sister spot know how to make things perfect. You can't go wrong here and I'm so happy this is in my neighborhood.

UND might be my new favorite spot on the UES. Martini Mondays, do I need say more. $4 half size martini's and $8 regular martini's. Whether you take yours dry or dirty, with gin or vodka, UND has got you covered. I came here for dinner with friends and ordered the Garganelli alla Vodka. All of their pasta is freshly made and my dish was absolutely delicious. UND has a great atmosphere and good service. Open for lunch and dinner, UND is a must try on the UES!

My reason for 4 stars not 5 is that we didn't get any bread when we got to the table?? That was one of my favorite things at the other uva. And that a Diet Coke was $6 haha. The food is so good. I love their marinara sauce. Pizza was thin and crisp but not burnt. Cheese is fresh. I guess there could have been more basil. It's definitely not $$$, I'd say it's $$. Everything is so reasonably priced aside from the Diet Coke. It was $22 for a big pizza, and pasta dishes are in the low $20s. Considering it's all homemade it's priced very well. It's a little bigger than the original uva and it's a great atmosphere. They also take reservations unlike uva. Will definitely come back!

Really enjoyed the prosciutto pizza we shared as an appetizer among 4 of us, and the outdoor dining was bustling (in the best way!) The service was very timely, just wish the pasta portions were larger but thats NYC for you on the Upper East Side. I got the ravioli filled with veal (Veal Agnolotti) and it was cooked very well but again, just wish there were more pieces. I would return, or maybe try the UVA restaurant next to this one too!

Sorry y'all phone did not eat first, but anyways - overall this place is good. Great ambiance, friendly waitstaff & good food. I liked the pizza better than pasta. Pasta was a bit over cooked and lacked seasoning.

This place was absolutely packed on a weeknight. Great vibes. Food was good. Got the prosciutto pizza and the short rib ravioli. Both were tasty. The portions were pretty small on the pasta, probably could have eaten twice what they plated. Overall still a good experience.
