Highlights

Valdemar Estates is a restaurant, tasting room, and winery. We serve tapas (small plates) that pair perfectly with the wines we make at our wineries in Walla Walla and in Rioja, Spain. We are open by reservation only from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Make reservations at our website. We invite you to sit on our expansive balcony and take in an unrivaled view of the Blue Mountains. Our balcony features a reflecting pool and a wall waterfall, as well as misters that feel wonderful on those hot summer days. Spend a leisurely hour or two, tasting through our wines and our authentic Spanish tapas.

The 11 Best Restaurants In Walla Walla

"For a wine town whose primary activity is drinking for hours at a time, not many tasting rooms serve food beyond small bites. But even if you had no plans to partake in tempranillo, slot in some lunch at this Spanish winery that serves dishes like tuna belly-stuffed piquillo peppers, gooey croquetas de jamón, and patatas bravas that don’t have a lick of grease on them. The tapas are so excellent that it’s easy to ignore the babbling water features and museum-like architecture. Palate-cleansing oyster crackers can’t do that." - aimee rizzo

Best Places to Eat in Walla Walla, Washington - Eater Seattle

"Valdemar Estates is unique among Walla Walla wineries for its international pedigree — it’s owned and operated by a fifth-generation Spanish winemaking family. It also has Walla Walla’s only winery restaurant, where they serve a long list of classic tapas — including Iberico ham, stuffed peppers, and boquerones — that pair well with their wine offerings." - Matthew Lombardi

We have always enjoyed visiting Valdemar whenever we visit Walla Walla, so this time we decided to try the winery tour. I am so glad we did, because it was extremely fascinating and fun! The facility is impressive, and all the equipment is immaculate. The wine is always always extremely high quality as well. We even learned about some grape varietals that were once thought extinct that Valdemar rescued and now grows and bottles. The employees were all so very lovely as well: welcoming, knowledgeable, and happy to answer any question. One can never forget the food too! The chorizo stuffed mushrooms are to die for. I have never had an order that I wasn't thoroughly in love with at Valdemar.

Great tapas, like the ones we had in Spain. With a Spanish origin. Beautiful view! Will come back again.

We made it a day at Valdemar Estates Winery and we are thrilled to have had such a wine and culinary adventure. My friend and I booked a wine blending experience and lucky for us, we were the only two wine blenders today. We felt extremely lucky because we know that this class will be quickly filling up in the future. Carl gave us a tour of the facilities and shared about the winery's history and general operations. After that, he led us through a fun and educational wine blending experience...he even did the wine math for us! He was thorough, encouraged us to be creative, and was patient as we blended, tasted, and discovered our preferred flavor profiles. We sealed the deal with tapas and wine flights on the patio as we marveled at the beauty all around. The staff and Carl were very attentive and created a space to relax and savor the great food and delicious wine in a restorative setting. Thank you team Valdemar! We'll be back. 😍

Great Spanish style wines, delicious tapas, amazing views, and beautiful atmosphere! This is one of my favorite wineries in town and one of the few that offers food. Sitting on the back patio on nice warm evenings is simply the best.

Oh my God, what a dream!!! Firt Spanish winery owned by a family of 5 generations working on the industry. The highlight was their tapas: superb. They have wine from the area and from Spain, we liked the local wines better. The property is minimalist, modern, and very elegant. Close by you will find the Vinyards. Highly recommended 👌

Google
Amazing tour and experience all around! Kristoffer was our tour guide and exceeded our expectations of the two hour full embodied experience of wine, tasting, tapas, and lunch, hors d’oeuvres with cheesecake on the misters deck. This is a tour and stop. You will want to put on your wine tasting weekend. !

I last visited this winery in 2019 when it first opened when it was an earnest new business (at least in Walla Walla). We visited this winery in 2024 after tasting at Brook & Bull (highly recommend, especially if you’re a fan of Argentine style Malbec). I was beyond surprised at the stark difference in my experience between these years. In 2019, Valdemar had great service, good wines, a beautiful view, and the food was stellar. At this last visit the service left something to be desired and honestly may have been one of the worst wine tasting experiences I’ve had recently. We felt rushed, there was no pacing to the food, and the wine had zero explanation as to where it was from, who grew it, or how it was aged. Luckily the wines were good and the grape varietals were noted on a piece of paper on the table below our wine glasses. We were not checked on by our server and the interactions we did have were extremely forced and we felt it was an inconvenience to be there. As for the food, which was delicious, there was no thought as to pairing it with the wines. The chorizo stuffed mushrooms came out so hot (and without warning) that they burnt my tongue and the papas bravas were so spicy, they ruined any potential tasting after. After careful consideration, our group decided this is a winery for people that don’t care about wine. Overall this winery has all the ingredients for an amazing tasting experience, but much like Nailed It on Netflix, they didn’t.

I am visiting Walla Walla to celebrate my niece’s 21st birthday and took her to Valdemar to celebrate. The wine was good. The service was subpar, which soured our experience. It is unfortunate, because the grounds are beautiful. The host downstairs was discouraging, and told us our group may be turned down because we did not have a reservation- we were were a group of 5. Sure enough, they were able to seat us immediately. Our server as well was nice, but subpar. I ordered a flight and waited 20m in between flights. She did give us a discount for the inept service, but for someone who was vacationing/celebrating, the entire experience was completely unnecessary. I would recommend to go to Waterbrook for a wonderful experience instead.

Yelp
Ambiance is incredible at this winery. Beautifully built and perfectly located in the Walla Walla Valley to take in the views of the blue Mountains. They have a fabulous deck with comfortable lounge chairs. They have a beautiful dining/tasting room. It's well staffed and the staff are very attentive.

Yelp
Location is absolutely gorgeous and so is the winery. Walking in you can see barrels of wine and read about the history of this winery. You can take flights of stairs to go up or elevator. We sat inside as it was very hot but you can sit outside as it is very well set up to accommodate the heat. They have mist outside to keep you cool. Service, a little slower, our server had very bad BO and I get it , it was hot but still hygiene is important in these types of roles. He did have a fun mustache though ! I went with the VF tasting, mix of Spanish and local wines. I was hoping for a Spanish wine tasting but that was not an option. Wines were ok, nothing that blew my mind. I needed to stock up on some whites and rośe so bought few bottles to waive my tasting fee. These were not part of the tasting so I paid extra to taste these. Only members are allowed to purchase bottles and drink there. They have food options as well. Overall our experience here felt very transactional and for us this winery is probably a one and done kinda place.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings here! The wine is incredible, and tastes even better when paired with the amazing view, but the service was terrible. I'm a big fan of Pintxo in Woodinville, so was super excited to try the estates. The food is just as amazing and delicious, but the service is truly not up to par. Someone in our group pre- ordered food for us all and they brought it ALL out at once- apps and shared plates, and didn't tell us what any of it was. They also poured wine without telling us what it was. Somebody in the group asked our server to tell us about the wine and she said "it's white" and walked away. We were shocked! We ended up wanting more food and had to chase down the waiters to get their attention. My friend also had to ask for her Diet Coke 4 different times. They were just really dismissive and we felt super unwelcome. That being said, the wine view and food is so amazing. But don't expect to be treated well or learn about the wine.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery and attentive service. The food menu is fast and delicious. Wines are good, but not amazing for the prices. A good stop.

Yelp
This Shout-out is to our server Karla. Me and my spouse stop by on May 2nd for a quick tasting before heading home and we were amazed by the gorgeous structure. The whole tatting room and experience were another level. All the wines were unique and tasty, Karla was great at explaining the wines and the story behind. Hope to see you on the fall release!

Yelp
Beautiful setting and scenery. Im not a wine enthusiast so my opinion is purely regarding the food. Although we ordered a bottle of Blanco, which was quiet good. We were seated inside at a tiny table. Service was good! I liked the menu. See pics for more comments. The almonds were really nice with sprigs of fried rosemary. I don't even like rosemary but this worked really well together.

Yelp
Okay, first impression - Valdemar Estates is absolutely stunning. STUNNING. I would LOVE to live in this building. The setting was the perfect way to begin our gal's weekend trip in Walla Walla, making this winery the most memorable for its aesthetic. We had a reservation for the late morning at Valdemar Estates, soon after it opened on a Saturday. The space is very open and bright, with an industrial-Scandinavian vibe to it. When the windows are floor to ceiling, I'm instantly in love, which is what you will see here, especially since you will be able to see Walla Walla wine country in this neck of the woods. Valdemar Estates features Spanish wines, where they actually use grapes from Spain. You can choose from a Spanish or Washington flight, with both flights featuring three different tastings. I ended up getting a glass of the Conde Valdemar Reserva, a Spanish blend that was tempranillo-dominant. It was solid. Overall, this was a nice winery with the setting that mostly stood out to me. Wines weren't bad, and if you like Spanish wines, then this is your jam. I was also happy to learn that they will have a new Woodinville location, so definitely will have to check it out. I'm glad I was able to learn about this winery.

Yelp
Visited Walla Walla for the first time, since moving to the area, over this past Mothers Day weekend. Valdemar Estates was by far my favorite winery out of the 6 or 7 we visited. We liked it so much, we made a 2nd reservation for the very next day bc our awesome server, Christopher, told us about the evening cookout/party they were going to have. It could not have been any better. From the high end facilities, to the amazing views, the delicious food from the kitchen, the grill & the paella pan, to the succulent Chardonnay and Spanish wines, down to the top notch customer service from Carl and Christoper. Everything was perfect. I won't go into details, but it was THE best experience I'd had at a winery in a long time. We live 4 hours away and still almost joined their wine club. The only issue was that they couldn't ship the wines we wanted to our location :( Even the playlist was a 10. Such a huge improvement from having Beyoncé screaming at us for an hour straight at another winery earlier that day we visited for brunch. If you like feeling like you're at a high end resort somewhere nice like the Caribbean or Cabo, this is the place for you. They do it right.

Yelp
Love the tasting experience here! Classy vibes and a great outdoor patio in warmer months. Katrina is wonderful, knowledgeable and kind! Sadly the service has been poor the last couple times we've been. Servers haven't engaged in conversation about the wine or seemed happy to have us.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Valdemar!! It has good wines, a SPECTACULAR view, and amazing food. I will be bringing people here for snacks and the wow-factor of Walla Walla. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 is that the food and view outperformed the wine. They have a white wine that is terrific! And overall, I highly recommend this location!

Alice B.

Yelp
We did not have an appointment and that wasn't an issue. The road had some roadworks heading up to the property on the day we visited (March 24) so we were a little unsure driving past those closed signs. Modern style space, loved the Spanish varietals, will be interesting to see their Washington wines develop further. They have a cute tapas menu and hold a number of events in their space. Our server was knowledgable about the wines and we enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
Without a doubt, Valdemar is a gorgeous facility - very modern building with indoor and outdoor seating... outside has a water feature and couches with misters. Sadly it was too hot to enjoy, even with the misters! Valdemar has a lot of wine offerings... we were expecting a first class tasting experience, but felt more like a restaurant. For $15, you could order a flight of 3 wines, which is pretty weak. The gal serving us was more of a waitress, taking orders on food and flights. She was clearly knowledgeable after we peppered her with questions- it would have been great to lead with that! The tapas were delicious - a bit pricey for the small plates, but really tasty - can't go wrong with any of the options. All in all a nice experience, but we were left wanting more.

Yelp
First time visiting this winery and we will not be back. Me and my 3 friends have visited Walla Walla several times and we were quite disappointed by the lackluster service, uninviting atmosphere, and overpriced food with underwhelming portions. So many other wonderful options to visit-- out of the dozens of wineries we have tried, this is unfortunately one we would not recommend.
google avatar

Conner J.

Yelp
The atmosphere alone puts this at 5 stars, with great lighting, views, seating, and water fixtures. My favorite was the thin layer of water that trickled down the wall. It had a great design and didn't add too much noise but still added a small white noise to the space. The wine and food were good as well. We had an assortment of wines, cheeses, and snacks and they were all pretty solid. I personally had the chickpea spread which was very savory and had a nice crunch with the nuts they added. I could have even used a bit more of the nuts as they really added to the texture. One of my other minor things I apprenticed was an entire wall of homemade condiments, pickled vegetables, jams, etc. pairing some of them with some wine would make a great gift!

Jess C.

Yelp
Wine was good for those who enjoy dry wines, which we do. Although the winery aims to achieve luxury and modern elegance, the Server was pretentious and condescending. As a local, there are many other wineries to visit that properly achieve opulence with amazing service.
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
Very expensive for what you get. Standard for tastings in Walla Walla seems to be 6 tastes for $15-$25 range. Here there were only three tastings. Did a "Spanish" tasting and an "American" tasting. One of the Spanish wines was a rose - which is not typically Spanish, which was odd. The server only had a bit to say about two of the six wines. Was hovering when paying and felt pressured to leave tip even though experience was mediocre. Would not revisit or recommend. Many other wonderful experiences at many other vineyards - Valdemar came up empty and underwhelming, expensive and disappointing.
google avatar

Devin M.

Yelp
Beautiful setting in a modern masterpiece of a wine facility. We enjoyed all the wines, and the food (tapas) were beyond incredible! The basque cheesecake was one of the best thing we've eaten in recent memory. Really great experience overall!
google avatar

Benjamin W.

Yelp
Great location with great wines. This place was founded by spaniards and specializes in Spanish style varietals. Out of all the wineries we went to over the long weekend this one was my favorite one. The patio is so beautiful with a nice view and the service as well as the food options were on point. Our server Andrew was very kind, patient and knowledgeable. We had the choice of two different wine menus old world as well as new world and mixed up our tastings to get a wide variety. Good options are light and delicious if you are untrue don't hold back on ordering that extra plate or two ad portions are definitely the smaller tapas size. I can not recommend this place enough for a refined experience.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. Drove 4 hours from Portland to Walla Walla. Made a reservation for a 3 course chefs tasting menu featuring steak. 6:30 on Thursday. We were 1 of 2 tables there. Sat in the tasting room which I thought was going to be a dining room. Beautiful design and architecture. Lights on full brightness. Fruit flies swarming. Salad dressing was the best thing we ate. Steak was under salted, cold and served with cold potatoes. I fluffed the pic to make it look better. Do better guys. Not worth 200 plus dollars.

Yelp
I booked Valdemar as part of our wine tasting during our trip to Walla Walla. This place is absolutely beautiful, so nicely decorated, overlooking the wide, open meadows in front of it. The food is pretty amazing for a winery. The service was very very good. The wines were really good, so we ended up buying some wine. We ordered many different small dishes and I have to say, they were all pretty good. My favorite: the lamb pincho with an amazing tasty sauce! Overall, I am so super happy I booked this place! It was the highlight of our wine tastings. I highly recommend it.

Sonja G.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place in Walla Walla since 2019. During Covid this was the only place I felt safe going out to eat because they took their protocols so seriously, so that was appreciated. The food and service are top notch. We always order at least 5 tapas between two of us and share everything. The wines are great, but I love the Grande Reserva the most. The Spanish flight is a really nice way to enjoy the Spanish wines with your food. Reserve a seat outside to get the most of the view.
google avatar

Max K.

Yelp
Best facility of any winery in Walla Walla. No expense was spared in the making of this place. We have been wine club members since they opened and it's a fantastic wine club to be apart of. Your flights are included when you come visit and it's SO fun to visit! I like their Walla Walla wines more than their Spanish Wines, which is a pretty big accomplishment for such a new winery. Super impressed.
google avatar

Yasmin C.

Yelp
Cheesecake is amazing! So creamy and not too sweet. Just perfect. I wish it was a bit colder but overall so good!
google avatar

Antoinette A.

Yelp
Amazing views, amazing design, great food and wine. Make a reservation for the terrace. I loved the interior, the lighting, even the bathrooms were cool. Being a designer, I love that stuff. The reserve wines were great. The food was delicious. Definitely going back!

Yelp
We heard people talking about this new winery and I'm so glad we made it here on our recent trip to Walla Walla! Valdemar was our favorite wine tasting experience in Walla Walla! The building is amazing, very minimal with thoughtful design details- a cool place to come even if the wine was bad. The good New was the wine was great too! They offer tasting flights of both their Spanish wines and Washington Syrah selection. We each got one and enjoyed them both. The Washington wines were the highlight though! We took a bottle of their Blue Ridge Syrah home with us (waiving a tasting fee). We paired our wine with a charcuterie plate that was pretty good and balanced the wine well. I'd really sitting outdoors if you can and enjoying the scenery- that was the highlight for us!
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
We went here because it was still open and you can see it coming a mile away. The name sounds like a hogwarts character. We were slightly concerned it was an overly fancy place that would be stuffy. The entrance was the tallest door ever which made you feel like we were heading into a castle and we thought we would feel out of our element. However we were greeted by a warm hostess. They do seat you so you aren't standing at the bar which is a nice change. They have a menu with tasting flights and light bites. It is like having a private tasting without having someone in your face the entire time. The pours were huge which was good because the wine was delicious. The server gave us knowledge and then let us be which was perfect. Get the olive oil and bread! We recommend this place!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Impressed with this place. We stopped by on a Monday before noon. They said they were short staffed (they were interviewing 5 chefs that day) so we appreciated the heads up. We weren't in a rush so we enjoyed the view while we sipped our two flights. We got both of the Spanish flights and liked most of the wines. These wines are from Spain so they are very different than fruit forward Washington wines. Most of the wines were very nice, a little higher price point than most as well. They were out of one of the Spanish wines in my flight so I went with the 17 Klipsun Syrah and was blown away. This wine is very nice for a 17, I cannot wait to try their next vintage. Also tried their charcuterie board which was delicious and well priced. The rest of the tapas are a fair price as well. Full disclosure: I am used to Seattle prices so I though they were fine. Going to be keeping an eye on this winery.

Yelp
Fabulous experience in Walla Walla. Valdemar Estates is the new kid on the block. The wines are amazing , Washington wines and their Spanish wines are equally great. Spanish tapas offered were delicious . The beautiful space makes a fun relaxing atmosphere. Albert was wonderful informing us of the estates history and talking about their wines. Dont miss out on another Walla Walla great. Cheers!

Yelp
This place was great. Wonderful wines, amazing food, and very great atmosphere. Outdoor seating with heaters or beautiful indoor dining. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
Beautiful tasting room. Carl our server was new but very good. Two wine flights: WA and Spain, each $15 which is reasonable. Ended up buying bottles of the Spanish Blanco and Reserva. Tapas ( roasted cauliflower, cheese plate, stuffed mushrooms) were very good.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Our visit to Valdemar was an absolute delight, from the gorgeous, inclusive architecture and interior design, to the lovely views, the exceptional service (which included a server with a great sense of humor and a table visit by the chef), truly delicious food, and--you guessed it--some outstanding wine offerings. We recommend you getting two flights to sample Valdemar's range of offerings, the Estate Wines and the Bodegas (Spanish wines). We found something exceptional in each. The Cabernet Sauvignon is top-notch, though a bit pricey. (Still, we couldn't leave without four bottles.) On the Spanish side, the Conde Valdemar Reserva is stunning. We were less impressed by the Gran Reserva, though it was still quite good. Our flights were paired with Spanish tortillas, cured meats, and a cheese platter--perfect for tasting the wine offerings. Something we deeply appreciated was the inclusive nature of the business, which goes out of its way to accommodate people with needs. We really found that heartwarming. We'll definitely be back to Valdemar!
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
What a great place! Incredible atmosphere with a really cool vibe. The tapas were very good and our waiter was so friendly and helpful in suggesting other wineries. Oh - and the wine was fabulous!
google avatar

Scott Diana G.

Yelp
Beautiful location wines just so so. I'm a red fan and didn't like any of the ones I tried. The Spanish white was pretty good for a crisp summer white. Price was a bit over the top 45-75 a bottle seemed steep to me.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful tasting room and fabulous service! Very impressed with their wine bd amazing food
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for the summer because they have sprinklers for the heat. Great view, great food, great wine.

Yelp
Best patio ever! Great wine and service. Newer place so was in high demand and had to wait a couple minutes to get seated. Well worth it!
google avatar

Wrr A.

Yelp
This location just opened in Walla Walla next to four wineries in a square. While the location is probably going to be its own winery in the future, currently they are importing wines from Spain to taste in wine flights with available Tapas. We found this to be an amazing stop between the multiple wineries in the area to slow down, have some Iberian Ham and cheese and sample small wine flights while sitting on the patio overlooking the countryside. The building is massive, well designed, modern, and has several areas to relax including inside, a covered patio, and a sun patio next to a water feature. We will add this as a must stop when visiting the south end of Walla Walla in the future.
google avatar

Fernando E.

Yelp
My first time in this brand new wine facility, I must say that it was pricy, you pay for what you see. The I installations are top Noch but the tapas menu leaves lots room for improvement. Service was ok, the wine selection was good 4 stars, food 3 stars. If you want to enjoy this new winery most to place a reservation
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Amazing architecture, the food was very traditional Spanish tapas, and the wine was very good.
google avatar

Collin H.

Yelp
The Valdemar Estates are amazing. The wine is exquisite and and the location is amazing. My hold back on 5 stars was our server. He was rude, put out by us, and required several comments from us before he behaved decently. And got zero tip. Our driver mentioned that this server had caused issues in the past which is disappointing. I think this place is awesome. Just need staff who won't tell us it's off-putting to order a flight. Weird.

Mario T.

Yelp
Jorge, our knowledgeable and welcoming host, greeted us upon our arrival and set the tone for. Wonderful evening of fine Washington and Spanish wine and tapas!.
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! Highlight of my trip to Walla Walla. My hubby had the Spanish flight and I enjoyed the Syrah flight. The decor was beautiful, spectacular view, amazing service, and I don't know if I liked the tapas or the wine better. I like that they bring you all the tastings at once so you can compare side by side and you are able to just sit back and relax.
google avatar

Noelle L.

Yelp
A wonderful night of wine pairing administered by Albert and team. The food and wine was wonderful, not to mention the beautiful surrounding and venue. I highly recommend reaching out to Valdemar Estates and asking for a special night of wine pairing with Albert Diaz.

Megan B.

Yelp
We were really excited about this winery, but honestly the experience with the waiter was horrible. He was very rude to us. We had someone in our group that was celebrating a birthday and we were told when we booked the reservation that the birthday girl would get a special treat (aka their cheesecake they are famous for). When we asked about this, the waiter said they were sold out of cheesecake and we asked if we could get anything else and he said no. Overall just not a good experience, and I would definitely avoid this pretentious place in the future and go support more small family owned wineries instead. Also their wine isn't very good for how pretentious they act.
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
Our favorite winery we visited by far! The establishment is breath taking. Large, modern, new, clean. The staff is friendly and the wine is even friendlier. Not only was it our favorite wine, it also had the most amazing views of the mountains. Highly recommend!

Mara R.

Yelp
Everything was great. Service, a variety of tapas and wine selection. Alex was great! Lovely place. Hope to be back
google avatar

Troy B.

Yelp
Food was really good, though I expected a few more warm Spanish options, like: Albondigas, Gambas al Ajillo and Patatas Bravas. A welcome sign "Bienvenidos a España" at the lower entrance would be a nice addition, as it feels a bit cold and overwhelming. Excited to see this place mature, and add some Walla Walla produce and local wines in addition to the Spanish heritage.
google avatar

Summer R.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous venue. Delicious wines and fantastic (and yet simple) food. Definitely recommend sitting by the water features. We came on a Thursday afternoon, and the experience was fantastic. Definitely should be a destination for anyone coming to the Walla Walla area

Shannon M.

Yelp
Food and wine was great. Don't charge $75 for a bottle of wine and have unknowledgeable staff.

Bonnie N.

Yelp
they're trying hard, service was good but the mediocre food was expensive. maybe in time this winery will be worth the visit. sorry
