How I heard of this place: I want to say Valhalla was first introduced to us as a foodtruck, but now I'm not certain. Either way, we discovered the brick and mortar spot on one of our many walks to/from the Greenwood branch of the Seattle Public Library. It's perfectly, conveniently located and a great stop for lunch or a take-away meal to share at home for dinner.
Type of cuisine: Sandwiches, tots and salads worth going out for.
Ambiance: The outdoor patio truly is a welcome space for diners and the fact that it's covered offers the option to dine outside at any time of year (some seasons with more layers required). It is also about as large as the indoor dining area, which is dimly lit and spacious. Tables and chairs/bench towards the back/left as you enter, near the counter where orders are placed and picked up. It's minimalistic and offers no frills, but it's easy as a quick stop for a lunch break.
What I ordered: Among our various visits, the Loaded Tots with Avocado has made it's way to our table, as well as the Super Chicken Deluxe - sliced chicken breast, grilled onion, roasted red peppers, gorgonzola, bacon, arugula, and rosemary aioli on a telera roll. We have enjoyed the spicy Ham'er of the Gods - ham, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, and sweet hot mustard on a telera roll; Grilled Cheese - cheddar and Provolone cheese on grilled sourdough, and even once indulged in their Peanut Butter Oreo Fudge Brownie!
What I loved: Every sandwich and tot has been wonderfully bursting with flavor, perfectly grilled and served warm. We have never been disappointed in our orders and the selection is vast.
Why I loved it: It's a tasty and quick meal, filling, satisfying and service has been friendly and efficient throughout the years.
