"Located in Reseda, Valley Sandwiches is a tiny, order-at-the-register sandwich shop that only makes bánh mì—but there are 18 different kinds on the menu. If it’s your first time, go for the #1 bánh mì dac biet, a salty and savory masterpiece that comes with both rolled and cured pork, ham, pate, and mayo—all on an airy baguette that slowly absorbs the flavors as you eat. That said, our favorite sandwich is one that’s not listed on the menu: the fish ball banh mi. Filled with plump, slightly sweet fish balls and a heavy helping of dill, it’s a simple, fragrant sandwich that’s light enough to eat two of before heading back to your car. And yes, we know from experience. " - nikko duren, arden shore, sylvio martins, brant cox

Had the #10 and the #15. Both were delicious. Photo is the #10, but #15 was my favorite. Service was excellent. I believe the gentleman that served us was the owner. He was friendly and handmade our sandwiches with the utmost care and attention. Also want to note the ingredients were high quality. I’m not really a fan of the hard bread used for Vietnamese sandwiches, but this was good bread! I was impressed. The owner mentioned the source was a local bakery in Northridge. Small but clean location isn't ideal for sit down dining in but it's allowed. It seems like most customers are regulars that just swing by to pickup their order. One of the customers that stopped by when I was there said he’d been coming there for years. We enjoyed chatting with the owner as we ate. I look forward to coming back and trying more sandwiches. 5 stars.

Google
Stopped by for an afternoon sandwich. This is a nice little shop with sandwiches and Vietnamese food. The people behind the counter are really friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering a #7 pork sandwich. It was really good. What impressed me the most and stood out was the fresh vegetables in the sandwich. They were crisp and refreshing with every bite. I really enjoyed this sandwich! This is a take out only place, no indoor seating.

Google
Recently discovered this place and it's honestly the best Banh mi I've had in the SFV. Not only is the food exceptional but the staff is very nice and the service is great! I've had about 4 of their sandwiches and they are all insanely flavorful! Definitely give this place a try!!

Google
Mom and pop hole in the wall. Nice friendly service! Vietnamese ice coffee so so good strong and flavorful! The bbq pork bah mi was the best! Can’t wait to have another! Pork meatball was good but bbq pork was better. Spring rolls were also a highlight and the sauce was fantastic! The steam buns were good.

Google
I’ve been to all the hot spots in LA/SGV that do not live up to the hype. Valley Sandwiches is so freaking good - the filling to bread ratio is exactly what you’re looking for. We ate it in the car and looped around to order more for dinner!

Google
Been getting the #1 Banh Mi Dac Biet for about 7 years now and it is the perfect Banh Mi for me. I will continue to come here for my Banh Mi for another 7 more. Their ice coffee is the perfect balance of strength and sweetness.

Google
My wife really likes the #10 i wish they had a comparable beef option, the sardine bun mi isn't bad

Yelp
A long time patron of the Pho 999 that's two stores down from Valley Sandwiches, but finally remembered to stop by and ordered a couple of Pate, Grilled Pork Banh Mis, and a plate of the Banh Cuon. Everything was fresh / delicious and tasted like the ones we ate in Ho Chi Minh City. The owner / workers were friendly as well. Please go try and support small businesses!

Yelp
Taste: 4 Creativity/Authenticity: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Service: 5 Bang for your buck: 3 Solid Banh mi! Been wanting to try this spot for awhile now; Got the grilled pork sandwich and the banh khot! Wow one of the best banh mi I've had!! Fresh bread, nice and flaky, the grilled pork was so so good! And the veggies fresh and crunchy! Now the Bahn khot! Woah! So good kept eating them in the car! Have to come back and get the banh cuon!

Gia H.

Yelp
The Bahn Mi's here are so good. The bread is perfectly crispy and flaky on the outside, soft on the inside. The bun is not hard to bite into and it is not too thick. Overall, the meat to vegetable to bread ratio is perfect. A very well balanced sandwich. Ask for no cilantro if you don't like cilantro.

Julie N.

Yelp
I'm vietnamese its my first time in the area and we got banh cuon. They were perfection, it came out SOO fresh & soft. This dish can be really hard to find & can be a hit or miss because some places can make it too thick or they serve when its not fresh so it ends up being hard. But not this place, it was absolutely freshly rolled and amazing quality. Very impressed with the quality and how it was thinly rolled. I saw her roll it right in front of me! It's honestly the perfect serving size as well! There's no seating/dining area just FYI.

Ram B.

Yelp
Valley Sandwiches truly delivers on their sandwiches - I ordered the No. 1, their special sandwich. The fresh vegetables are a definite plus! Their baguette bread takes it to the next level, probably surpassing my usual go-to bahn mi spot. The meats are okay, and the taste is clean and fresh, but I feel like it's missing a certain je ne sais quoi - perhaps a rich pate or a depth of umami flavor? Despite this, it's still a great sandwich. Overall, I'd recommend Valley Sandwiches for their high-quality ingredients and satisfying sandwiches. Just a hint of extra flavor would take it to perfection! Btw, very friendly people.

Junior S.

Yelp
Bahn khot and bahn coun was delicious! I loved that my bahn mi bread wasn't too thick like other places.

Kim P.

Yelp
Wow, this place is now on my top 5 favorite places to eat in the valley. The bread is fresh and perfectly crunchy but not too hard where it cuts the roof of your mouth. The portions are very generous and employees are friendly. It can get pricey but it's worth paying for such a good sandwhich. We always get the number 1 and number 4 with extra pate and mayo. There's no place to dine in but that wasn't such a big deal. Excited to go back and try the bahn cuon.

Parker Y.

Yelp
Picked up 7 delicious sandwiches today that I took back to the hospital! The tuna is by far the best thing on the menu! I'd also recommend the veggie/tofu if you are vegetarian or Vegan. The service is friendly, personal and you feel right at home. Truly an outstanding dive Vietnamese sandwich shop I'm going to continue to frequent as should you! The decor is quite simple but honestly the food is why you go there. Pro Tip: call and order ahead so you can grab and devour that sandwich upon arrival!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
I ordered the grilled pork sandwich and it came out in less than 5 minutes. They put in a pretty generous amount of pork and pickled veggies, and the bread had a nice, crispy crust. The pork was a little too peppery for me but otherwise well marinated. I managed to find free street parking in the front and was able to grab and go quickly.

Sam K.

Yelp
Would highly recommend! Good customer service! We got banh mi sandwiches, eggrolls, spring rolls, and banh coun.

Yelp
Update: 2024. It's been five years since I been here, wow time flies! I loved Valley Sandwiches then and I love it now. Same great sandwiches, but they no longer have indoor seating. *takeout only* I usually judge a banh mi shop by the "bánh mì đặc biệt": mixed Vietnamese cold cuts specialty sandwich. Hue Thai Bakery & Deli in Rosemead and My Dung Sandwich Shop in Chinatown makes my favorite Bánh mì đặc biệt. However, Valley Sandwiches is just as good! The construction of the banh mi sandwiches here are meticulously made. Check out the knife skill on the veggies! Valley Sandwiches also offers Vietnamese comfort foods like: Mì Quảng, Bún bò Huế, Bún Mäng Vit, Bún thịt nướng, Bún riêu, Bánh cuốn, Bánh Khọt, Goi Cuon. Good news parking is not an issue as there is a huge FREE parking lot in the back of the business and they take both Credit Card and Cash now.

Adriana R.

Yelp
Okay Valley Sandwiches, I see you. Stopped here today after driving by for the past year. Very unassuming little place (street parking) but with one of the best bahn mi sandwiches I've ever had. Ordered the bbq pork bahn mi (no pate) and the flavor was incredible! The bread was perfect and flaky and the veggies were crisp and fresh. I shared with my husband and honestly wish I would have made him get his own. Such a delicious sandwich and I know we will be back again and again. Don't sleep on Valley Sandwiches, highly recommend.

Anisa P.

Yelp
Amazing bánh mì sandwiches!!! My go to is the grilled pork sandwiches and it's delicious!

Jackie X.

Yelp
Came here around 11 on a Tuesday. There's a large public parking lot behind the restaurant that's shared with the multiple other Vietnamese businesses. When I went inside, it was completely empty and I was the only customer. The man and woman working were very friendly and helpful. Their bahn mi's were all around $8.50-10ish which is a great price! I also wanted to try their burn reu but I'll have to get that next time, I think it was about $16. The inside has no seating as of 11/21/23 and is very casual. I decided to get the #11, charbroiled pork with pate. The sandwich was ready within a few short minutes and smelled delicious. They took credit card for my order. I ate half of the sandwich in my parked car and the other half when I got home. The meat was pretty flavorful and a decent portion. There was a ton of veggies on top which I love, especially the pickled ones and jalapeños, they give such a nice crunch. It wasn't the best bahn mi I've ever had but I didn't have any complaints. It was filling enough, tasted good, and was a great price! I would definitely come here again for a quick bite.

Kayla B.

Yelp
An unassuming shop tucked away- you have to know you're looking for it. Bahn mi's made fresh in front of you. Don't except to eat inside because its tiny but the sandwich was great so it's 100% worth the take out. Got the #11 grilled pork with pate. Packed to the brim with a good ratio of all things, may even ask for extra pate next time to get more of that flavor. Viet coffee was good too and service was fast!

Natalie Y.

Yelp
I know this place is called Valley Sandwiches but I got the Bun Rieu and it is one of the BEST bun rieu's I have had in LA and especially the Valley. It was so delicious, comforting, and flavorful. This place just serves straightforward authentic Vietnamese food! What a hidden gem.

Karie F.

Yelp
Stopped in while in the area. It's been a while since I've had Banh Mi. Yelped this place, saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did! Very friendly people working there. Very clean place. I got the shredded chicken and some egg rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will say though that this is an order to go place only. No seating inside and metered parking on the street. I think there is free parking in the back.

Lopsie S.

Yelp
So far this is the best authentic Bahnmi place I've found in the valley! It is the classic "little hole in the wall." There is no place to sit and eat, but the service was friendly, and I appreciate that they openly told us it would take 10-15 min for our order to be ready (because one sandwich was a hot meat type - and I'm pretty sure it took less time than they said it would). These sandwiches were well worth the wait!!! The #11 "Grilled Pork Sandwich" (bahn mi pate thit nuong) came out with all the correct customizations we asked for, the bread had a delicately crispy crust and the warm grilled meat was amazingly delicious. The #1 "Special Sandwich" (bahn mi dac biet) was straight up BOMB. The bread was perfectly toasted, with that wonderful fresh soft interior laden with flavorful multitudes of Vietnamese cold cuts, refreshing lightly pickled veggies, and well balanced spreads. A MUST-HAVE if you like the traditional iconic BahnMi. For both sandwiches, the ratio of meats to veggies to bread was beautifully balanced. I also liked that the veggies were crisp and fresh and lightly pickled, and that they took good care to seed the fresh jalapeño peppers. OH BOY! Just writing this review is making me want to go back right now and order it all again!!!! They have pictures on the wall of all the sandwiches and I can say the pictures are pretty accurate (but don't do them justice, really). They had some other non-sandwich options that I'd be willing to try sometime - again with pictures to help with your choices (admittedly, if they didn't have pictures I wouldn't know what to order by name alone). I am SO EXCITED to explore this menu! And SO HAPPY to have found this place!

Elise F.

Yelp
Loved the food here. It's a hole in the wall place with great food, and excellent service. Will definitely be coming back. Loved the banh mi, and this is one of the few places around the Valley that has Mi Quang (turmeric noodles)! All the food we ordered was fresh and delicious.

Nelly G.

Yelp
Went in this morning after having a bad experience at a different viet sandwich shop. So glad to have found this hole in the wall! It's like a Vietnamese bodega. The workers were nice and attentive. Ordered #10 and Vietnamese coffee, both were delicious and amazing. Highly recommend

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked for quite sometime now. Glad I finally got to try them. Family owned businesses are my jam. The employees are super friendly, they do get busy in here. Keep in mind take out only. Ordered the #10 grilled pork Banh mi, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and Banh Khot ( savory Pancakes). Let me tell you about that iced coffee. Ooo weee that was strong and so good! great pick me up for sure. The Grilled Pork Bang Mi was well made. They did not skimp on he toppings or the meat. It was nice a marinated with slightly crispy baguette bread. Enjoyed the Banh Khot 10000% which are mini Vietnamese egg pancakes topped with a shrimp. The way you eat them is take a piece of lettuce and wrap it with the mint and pancake, then you dip it in the Nuoc Cham sauce and call it a day. The flavor profile on this is an explosion. Not very many places can do make the Banh Khot so this place is a treat to offer this specialty Parking is plenty in the back.

Sandy Z.

Yelp
A small, authentic Banh Mi place. It's to-go order only, and you can find parking in the back! Don't come here for ambience - you won't find it amidst the lotto tickets gathered in the corner of the room or the faded gray tiling. However, do come here for the amazing sandwiches - the bread is perfectly warm and toasted (crunchy outside and soft inside), and the meats are seasoned to perfection with a nice crunch from the veggies. If you're not sure what to order, get the No1 on the menu!!

Amelia J.

Yelp
Wow! This sandwich was reallllly good. Let me start off by saying I was greeted with kind faces! It was empty when I arrived, so I got my sandwich pretty quick. It was my first time here but my sister kept going on how good these sandwiches are! So I had to try it myself. I ordered #10, pork bahn mi. It was made to perfection and the meat/veggies ratio is just right! I'm so happy I enjoyed these sandwiches - it's only 5 minutes from my house. Defff going back!

Monte H.

Yelp
Authentic, fresh, and great service! I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints!!

Pat C.

Yelp
I ordered Bahn Khot, Bahn Cuon, and a #7 sandwich. All delicious. The service is great. I like that they open early. It's a far drive for me, but I feel like I need to go every weekend now.

Peter M.

Yelp
If you were asked to name one of your favorite sandwiches, what will it be? For me, the answer would be a bánh mì, the well known Vietnamese sandwich. While I have had this sandwich at several Vietnamese locations, I happened to inadvertently stumble on Valley sandwiches. This location has 18 different types of bánh mì sandwiches, amongst other Vietnamese offerings. My favorite has always been the grilled beef bánh mì but this location did not have that and so I selected the Bhan Mi Trung, which is a fried egg bánh mì sandwich. The sandwich comes on a crisp baguette and is filled with an omelette, cucumber, jalapeños, carrots, cilantro, mayo and pate. The hot omelette contrasts well with the ambien temperature of the fresh and crisp vegetables that provided a perfect crunch to the bite. All the ingredients orchestrate to provide a tasty and satisfying experience. This restaurant is only for takeout. The service was very prompt, friendly, and on the mark.

Julius M.

Yelp
#10 grilled pork sandwich Bun was warm and slightly crispy Grilled Pork was slightly sweet and chewy(in a good way, since it wasn't mushy at all) Secret white sauce was slightly sweet and gives it a unique flavor profile Veggies were all fresh Customer service was great as well. Highly recommend!

April L.

Yelp
These are my top three go to from here. Amazing dishes and I love supporting family owned small shops like these.

Arianna V.

Yelp
Best bahn mi everrrrrr! Nice portion size and so many options of different meats. The place is small and doesn't have seating, so take your sandwiches to go. The workers were nice and the sandwiches didn't take long. If I return to the valley again, I'll be stopping by here!

Kevin P.

Yelp
I almost hate to give away my favorite Bahn mi place, but it's too good keep to oneself! Having travelled to Vietnam and eaten my fair share of Bahn mi across their great country, I'm my wife found the inconspicuous Valley Sandwiches here in Reseda in what I'd call micro Vietnam block since this shopping center is ALSO the only place where I can get my fresh sugar cane drink (check out my other review). But back to the Bahn mi; best French baguette, salty pate, cured ham, fresh veggies, c'mon I'm salivating writing this review! If you're a fan of Bahn mi or just love a taste of something authentic, please try Valley Sandwiches! Btw their cafe suda is also legit..... Enjoy!

Christine E.

Yelp
100% delicious. The team there is always kind. Been there several times. Husb and I always get the shredded chicken and tofu bahn mis and are very spicy, although last time not spicy at all. Someday I'll further explore the menu but til then I live my usual order. I think food is for takeout only, just a small shop.

Susie K.

Yelp
We don't live in the area, but were on our way to an appointment and had to kill time. We decided to eat pho, but my husband noticed this banh mi spot pop up and wanted to come back to try. We made a special trip out here to pick up a few sandwiches. I am so glad we did. It is SO delicious and we've been back now a few more times to try different ones. First, I don't really see any seating so this is definitely more of a pick up to go kind of place. It's pretty tight in there and the lines can be long, but they move quickly. The sandwiches are so well packed and formed and transported easily back home with us. Parking is super easy in the lot behind the main street, but it can get packed. This is definitely my new favorite banh mi spot and can't wait to return again!

Annie N.

Yelp
Đặc. Đặc. Đặc. Goose! BEST Banh Mi sandwich in all of LA and OC. Their Đặc Biệt sandwich here with extra pâté (add $1.50) is better than: Bánh Mi Mỹ Tho, Ba Le, Bánh Mì Saigon, Golden Deli, Banh Mi Chè Cali, and Bánh Mì Số 1. The meat cuts are thick and fresh. The vegetables have a wonderful crunch, and the carrots aren't overly pickled to the point of becoming soft. They toast each baguette as people order, instead of all at once and left to be chewy hours later. The quality of the pâté is better here, too. I can't wait to be back!

Emily W.

Yelp
Happy to say I get the hype with the great reviews! I came by on a Tuesday morning and it was pretty empty. They were able to make my sandwich within 5 mins of ordering. I ordered the Saigon style banh mi which had cured pork, pate, and mayonnaise. All sandwiches include cilantro, pickled carrots, pickled radish, cucumber, and jalapeño. The sandwich was an amazing blend of flavors and textures. The bread itself was definitely one of the best banh mi breads I've ever had. It wasn't the type to cut your mouth haha and it was a perfect balance of crispy yet also easy to sink your teeth into. I would love to come again when I'm in the area.

Jenn R.

Yelp
Great local Vietnamese spot with no frills and delicious, authentic Vietnamese food. I ordered their banh mi special - The meat and veggie portions were great and the ingredients felt fresh. My sister got the vermicellli with eggrolls which was also very yummy. Free street parking is available out in front as well as in the backlot. A really nice go-to place for pick up meals at reasonable prices!

Aaron S.

Yelp
Absolutely a little Vietnamese gem, wanted to get my wife a banh mi while she is working on Sunday she is a nurse, I got 2 pork banh mi's and I was going eat them both because it was really good, why so good? Well it was the fresh bred the good amount of tender meat and a lot of veggies on top and of course dipped in the Vietnamese Fish Sauce , it's the price of $8,50 that makes this sandwich really good and the kind people who work here just hard working nice people, we will be coming here more that's for sure, just think over 59 years ago my parents brought me home just around the corner on Geyser, it's places like this and the diversity in Los Angeles county that keeps me here while a lot of my friends moved to areas not so diverse if you know what I mean But anyway only a couple people on here had a not as good review and I would suggest go give it a try again.

Anh L.

Yelp
I happened to stop by this place while driving past and, truth be told, it's far from impressive. It's a real hole in the wall, and it gave me serious 80s mom-and-pop vibes. Unfortunately, the bread was less than fresh, with a noticeable stale taste. On the positive side, the fillings were decent. Also the prices for their Vietnamese dishes were extremely high given the unimpressive appearance of the shop.

Darylynn D.

Yelp
The sandwiches here are really good. I usually get #10, grilled pork. It's so tasty and I love the veggies are always fresh. The staff here is very friendly.

Luis O.

Yelp
This place is off the charts fast cheap and delicious What else can you ask for Super your local business

Janessa P.

Yelp
To start off, I'm originally from the Bay Area. I've lived in LB for school. I am a big foodie! So I go to OC looking for the best Viet sandwiches. Safe to say I haven't found it. Went to San Fernando Valley today and looked for some Viet Sandwiches. Well, I came across this mom and pop like shop. I ordered by phone. Very fast service! The lady repeated my order back to me too. #1 sandwhich- it's on a soft baguette. 9/10. This has been the closest I have ever had that tastes almost like the one I usually get from the Bay Area. Everything was so fresh! It was longer than others so of course it was a little bit more expensive, but very well worth it!! #Banh Cuo- so I haven't found a place that makes it this good!! 10/10. Fish sauce was emaculate. Viet Coffee- 10/10 if you want a jolt of energy! LOL Overall if I am ever in Reseda again, I would def go back!

Elaine H.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place even though I have bun me next door, but i didn't love the quality of the meat. It was a bit tougher than expected and overall not as satisfying. I also had the shrimp spring rolls and it seems like it's been sitting out for a while with the vermicelli wrap dry when I received it. Overall, a bit disappointed in quality.

Lorelei J.

Yelp
Their food is delicious. The service is amazing the vibes are really sweet. I don't really review or post anything about restraunts but this place is very deserving of a good review.

Matt P.

Yelp
This is a legit Vietnamese sandwich shop for being in the Valley. Although, they charge around $8.50 for their sandwiches. Pretty steep for a sandwich. Sandwich Express a few blocks over charges about $1 less if memory serves me right. Ok, back to Valley Sandwiches. Their Special sandwich is pretty good. The bead is crispy and the meat/veggies all compliment each other well. Their pate was on point. Their banh cuon is made to order and probably one of the best I've had anywhere. It has a slight chew to it and they give you 6 rolls along with 4 slices of cha. Their banh xeo is also good. It comes with 3 nice pieces pieces with veggies to roll them up with. The fish sauce is also very good. Ever since I found this place, I've been coming here for my Vietnamese fix every other week. Again, it's not the cheapest, but great Vietnamese food. They accept credit cards and I would suggest you calling in your order because they do tend to take longer to prepare their dishes. Of course the sandwiches don't take as much time, but everything else usually takes about 15-20 minutes.

Tj H.

Yelp
I try to stop by for a bite at least four times a year. Every time I come, I enjoyed the sandwhiches. I'm biased and order the chicken sandwich. The bread is light, shredded chickens tasty. I do step a outside and try the tofu, you can't go wrong. I always make sure to grab extra jalapeños for my special someone who loves spices. They'll add extra spice in sauce/seasoning if your really adventurous. The crew there is always helpful with suggestions for dietary issues and if you want to try something new. If your looking for a quick bite, stop by. Your taste buds will thank you.

A Z.

Yelp
Excellent bahn mi. Lots of choices of fillings. They toast the bread when you ordered it so it's fresh and crispy. The fillings are fresh. The staff are not all fluent English speakers but they are very courteous and accommodating. Limited hour though.

Elona S.

Yelp
Really amazing sandwiches, the bread is perfection , the chicken was tasty and price was good . Authentic Bahn mi spot in the valley

Christy K.

Yelp
So glad we took a chance to grab banh mi from here. We usually drive from the valley to westminister or Rosemead for authentic Vietnamese food. Let's just say I was not trying to drive an hour both ways because I was craving banh mi. We ordered the cold cut sandwiches and they were so tasty, had fresh ingredients, good amount of condiments, the bread was perfect. We also ordered bun Bo hue (the meat was good but wasn't impressed with the broth). The staff were nice. The establishment is smaller and have a sandwich menu on the wall. We ordered it to go and will def be back.

Charmaine A.

Yelp
So a a friend was so kind to surprise me with a sandwich from this place that was about six months ago and I have been hooked ever since! The number nine is my all-time favorite. It is always fresh. The bread is the best bread that I have ever had I have had, this type of sandwich from another Vietnamese sandwich shop and it was no comparison. I love the whole family friendly vibe. It's clean. The family that works. There are always so inviting and kind and when I call on the phone ahead of time for my order, I can tell they are smiling because they know it's me and I truly appreciate that familiarity. So if you're looking for a great Vietnamese sandwich with a cool vibe and a great owner with an excellent friendly staff, I highly recommend coming to this place because you will not regret it.
