"A large, open-plan kitchen takes centre stage at Vanderlyle, which blends shabby chic styling with designer comfort. The well-balanced 10 course vegetarian menu shows imagination and creativity, along with purity and freshness of flavour. Go for the wine or juice pairings to complete your experience." - Michelin Inspector

"Reservations are very much required for this one, and they go live on the first Tuesday of every month. After finding fame on Masterchef in 2010 as a runner-up, chef Alex Rushmer took over the Hole in the Wall, a country pub in Little Wilbraham, which, in a happy twist of fate, was previously owned by the family of Dom’s Coffee founder Domenico O’Neill. Having now closed the pub and established himself on Mill Road with Vanderlyle, Rushmer has become a strong, compassionate voice for evolving hospitality culture for the better, and his restaurant signals that intention. The elegantly bountiful dishes focus on fruits and vegetables, making Vanderlyle a sort of East Anglian analog to California chef Jeremy Fox’s ideas. Singular, sublime, not to be missed." - James Hansen

Amazing dishes! We really enjoyed our dinner. Star of the day was the squash soup that was very thick and flavourful, and the bucatini! Deserts were amazing, too

We had a fantastic evening at our favourite restaurant in Cambridge. The quality of the food and the service was as good as ever and eating at the pass was an added bonus, with Alex taking time to chat with us. It's great to see a team of people who obviously really enjoy what they do. Can't wait to go back at some point in the hopefully not too distant future.

We had an amazing experience and it was the best restaurant meal this year. The atmosphere is so warm and relaxed but refined too. The decor is very trendy, industrial and stylish. The staff and service were just perfect and so friendly and professional. All smiling and everyone seemed really happy to be working at Vanderlyle. They made our evening (a birthday celebration) really special. And Alex took the time to come and chat to us too. The food was completely outstanding. We are not vegetarian ourselves, but would recommend the restaurant to absolutely anyone as every dish of about 12 was stunning in taste, texture, presentation and inventiveness. The open kitchen is fun to watch and all the chefs were working flat out. There wasn't a course that we weren't amazed by. This is unusual for us as we eat out a lot and both agreed that Vandelyle cannot be compared to anywhere else - quite fantastic and we can't wait to bring family and friends.

An incredible experience from the moment we walked through the door. A beautiful and compassionately considered menu which oozed with the love that Alex clearly feels for his ingredients and business. The staff clearly relish working here, respect each other and were all extremely knowledgeable. The setting is perfectly suited to the menu, ethos and staff. A very special and memorable evening and an absolute delight - we loved every second of it.

I went here to celebrate my engagement, and the food and atmosphere was the best part of the day (even though she said yes!) The staff created a lovely environment, giving expert knowledge about each meal. The food was the best I have ever eaten, and I am still thinking about some of the wines they paired with the meals. Thoroughly recommend!

We had another stunningly excellent meal at Vanderlyle. Every course was excellent, and the level of gluten-free accommodation I received was outstanding. I almost cried when they brought out a gluten-free steamed marmalade pudding for me. Pictured, plant based caviar (from seaweed) had the starring role in this dish described as "co-farm oca, coco beans, saffron sauce". I will keep coming back to this restaurant.

Vanderlyle is vegetarian only and I am not vegetarian. I do eat a lot less meat now and quite like a lot of veggie food. Especially when eating here - the food is exquisite, Each course of the tasting menu offers wonderful flavours that bring out many 'wows'. The mixture of ingredients is incredibly imaginative, and even some that I wouldn't normally like are somehow rendered delicious, amazing. Friends that we have brought here all thought likewise. We find the food is as good as, our better, than Midsummer House, which is also great, but at a fraction of the cost.

Absolutely amazing food. My wife has been wanting to go for ages and it didn't disappoint, some of the best food we've had and so refreshing to see a non alcoholic pairing which added so much to the meal. For someone who can't drink it's great to be able to enjoy that part of the meal as well. We'll be back!
