"Other Chicago food and drink establishments are opting to take a winter hiatus in light of the extraordinarily challenging season ahead: some vendors at West Loop food hall Chicago’s French Market plan to go into 'partial hibernation.' Spots including French patisserie Vanille and Italian meatball shop Polpetti are slated to reopen March 1." - Ashok Selvam

Google
We absolutely recommend Vanille! They were wonderful to work with. Our wedding cake was exactly what we wanted and it was SO delicious! We did a 3 tier (4”-6”-8”), plus a side cake for our intimate wedding. The flavor was lemon cake with vanilla mousseline and fresh berries. It was the perfect combination for summer. All of the ingredients were very fresh and full of flavor.

Google
One of two locations for one of Chicago's best french bakeries. Excellent croissants and mini desserts. I especially enjoyed the beautiful Coconut key lime and Passion fruit Tarts! Stop in you ever have the chance!

My sister wanted to stop at the French market for her birthday. I got her a small cake from there before heading back home. The atmosphere was chill, she loved/ enjoyed her birthday cake. Highly recommend.

Went to the French market with a Friend for breakfast. We both decided to try almond croissants and we LOVED IT. We both agreed it was the best croissants we had ever had. My friend said her coffee was good and my herbal fusion tea was good too. But I just wish they had a little more options for teas since I’m not really a coffee person. But I will definitely will be back with my friend anytime we are in Chicago and will be trying their Lincoln park location. Just love this place so much.

Google
Small dessert shop located in the Chicago French Market/Metra Market. They had individual desserts and croissants, small sweet loaves, and exactly one 6” cake for sale, plus coffee and tea. All pretty standard flavours, but if what I got is representative of the whole offering, the quality is what makes them special. I got the Manjari, a chocolate mousse coated in a dark chocolate ganache with a thin chocolate cookie/cake “crust” on the bottom. It was almost $10 which I think is pricey for an individual dessert, but it was perfectly designed and the chocolate was clearly good quality because it was RICH. The dessert was pushing my tolerance for sweetness but in this small portion it worked as the chocolate was very strong to balance it out.

Google
I’m French (born there and go back and forth between Chicago and Paris multiple times in the year so I have a good comparison and hope this review has some worth from that standpoint). We love Vanille!! We’ve been ordering their galettes des rois for over 10 years and swear this is the best one in Chicago. I buy at minimum 2 every January to celebrate with family and friends and people always rave about it. I am also obsessed with their passion fruit tart. It has so much flavor and is just mouth watering. The croissants and pain au chocolat are also really tasty - flaky on the outside and soft inside. So delicious and great flavor!!! Even the frozen to go ones are so good. We’ve always had a positive experience with staff and ordering. This business does not disappoint and we highly recommend it!!

Google
We stumbled upon a true gem with these macarons! Every bite was a burst of flavor and perfection, with a delicate texture that melted in your mouth. Not only were the macarons exceptional, but the service was outstanding: professional, warm, and filled with thoughtful details that made our experience unforgettable. Truly a 5-star experience that left us wanting more. Highly recommended!

Google
5 stars for excellent desserts and fast service, but the place is awful, probably should change location. Of course you can take a better seat outdoors, then stay inside. For the French Market I was hoping to see different interior and smells.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous! I generally don't buy pastries or desserts in this price point. But I decided to splurge a little for my mother's birthday, and it was well worth it. I tried two of their pastries: passion tart and Royal. The passion tart was probably my favorite. The crust tasted like a buttery shortbread. It paired perfectly with the tart passionfruit cream in the center. Not too sweet, not too sour. Tasted fresh and is overall a light dessert. On the other hand, there is Royal. This has got everything going on. Chocolate mousse, caramel, hazelnut praline crisp, dark chocolate glaze, chocolate streusel. It almost seems like too much, but somehow everything goes so well together. There is a touch of salt in this dessert, which helps keep all the sweet in balance. The hazelnut praline crisp adds a nice contrast in texture. A very rich dessert, certainly not something I could eat by myself! Overall, the quality of these desserts are very high and the price reflects that. Wouldn't get this all the time, but perfect for a special occasion!

Yelp
We were in town the other day and stopped off in the French Market on North Clinton in the hunt for some early morning sweets ... and we found Vanille Patisserie. This was a very nice little French bakery in the basement of the Ogilvie Transportation Center ... the old Northwestern Train Station. Now for a "French Market" there certainly weren't many French stands, but Vanille was one. We had a couple cups of very nice 4 star coffee and two croissants ... one plain and one Au Chocolat, and both were 5 star offerings befitting a French pastry shop. There was not much selection when we arrived, but what they had was delightful ... and the selection was low because they do a brisk business with the early arriving train travelers. We will remember to get here earlier next time to enjoy more of the selections. Good coffee and pastries ... give it a try.

Yelp
I love Vanille! If I'm ever at Ogalvie, I'll always pop in for a coffee and some macarons. They are always fresh and very tasty.

Wayne L.

Yelp
Stopped here for coffee and pain au chocolate while waiting for a friend to pick me up. Good coffee and food and plenty of seating in the market to sit back and enjoy.

Nikki W.

Yelp
Best chocolate chip cookie I've had in Chicago so far. Dark chocolate cake is good too. Literally the only drawback is if you go after 12pm, they most likely will run out of cookies.

DeAndra G.

Yelp
Vanillé has the BEST macarons I've heard had best. I personally didn't even like macarons but now I will give them a chance. I went to the location in the French Market which if just a great place to be. The service was quick and they options are endless. I also had the hot chocolate which was the PERFECT temperature and thickness. I did get an Almond croissant and it was pretty good but not the best I've ever had. I cannot wait to go back to try more of their desserts. The French market is usual busiest during lunch but the ambiance was relaxed in the morning time.

Yelp
I absolutely love Vanille Patisserie. Vanille Patisserie has a couple of locations but the only location that I've been to is located in the Chicago French Market in the basement of Ogilvie Transportation Center. My husband and I went here when we got to Chicago early and had a little time to kill before we had to be somewhere else. I've been there a few times and I always try to get something new to try. On this trip I got the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Hot Chocolate. The chocolate almond croissant was flaky, soft and sweet. It had a generous helping of powdered sugar on top and had a rich chocolate filling on the inside. The hot chocolate was the richest, creamiest hot chocolate I've ever had. That was even after I elected to get the hot chocolate without whipped cream. Just a warning, the food here costs as much as the richness of the food. The chocolate almond croissant was $5.50 and the hot chocolate was $5.25. I highly recommend Vanille Patisserie for great tasting French pastries and sweets. and drinks.

Yelp
Took a beautiful walk down Randolph street to grab some special treats for dessert. So many options made my head spin. I settled on key lime tarts and potato chip crispies, made just like rice crispy treats. So you get your sweet and savory bite all together. A big hit after dinner. Almost forgot, I ordered a orange dream macaron for my walk back. Lol!

Claire L.

Yelp
Located in the Chicago French Market by Ogilvie Train Station, Vanille offers a wide variety of French style pastries and desserts. Upon seeing such visually striking pastries in the display case, I was immediately thinking of all the great European pastry shops I've tried, especially those run by the top pastry chefs in France, but alas while the desserts of Vanille look great, the taste doesn't have the same hype, especially for the price (many of the offerings ranged in the $7-$9 range, and for that price I could get much better tasting desserts in Las Vegas or abroad in Europe). While the Royal cake (chocolate/hazelnut) was excessively sweet for me, the passion fruit tart and mille feuille fared much better - but for the small size of these desserts, the high prices weren't exactly warranted in my opinion.

Jason W.

Yelp
Love that this bakery is open as I walk to work. My favorite is the almond croissant which has just the right amount of almond filling that doesn't taste so pasty like at other places. When it's fall, get the apple almond croissant. It is truly the perfect autumn breakfast treat!

Anwesh D.

Yelp
Got the almond croissant, which was really good! It was fluffy and flavorful but overpriced for the small size. I also got some macarons as a gift. The boxes were very cute and the macarons were amazing, but the prices are definitely a little high.

Sahara T.

Yelp
So. I love the macaroons here. They are so nice and the texture is divine. If they have the Fruity Pebbles one, I always get that one because it reminds me of my childhood. Ugh so good. Now to their cake. Although their cupcakes can be a bit dry, they're really good! Because of this, I got an 8-inch cake for my 18th birthday, and I ordered this design that had the top covered with raspberry drip, macaroons on the top, and the bottom covered in sprinkles. When I got the cake, it technically had the components, but it didn't look like the sample at ALL. There weren't as many macaroons on top (although they did give us extra), the drip was only on the sides and not the top, and the sprinkles were embedded into the frosting instead of being packed on the bottom. I was so disappointed and the staff there said that their manager would call me, but they never did. Because of that lack of service, I really have to downgrade them there. The inside of the cake was good, but I simply cannot give them the credit when they promise me one thing and I get a completely different product.

Milena D.

Yelp
Vanille's quality is going down, so sad. Just got our galette and it is not even baked through: absolutely pale, the dough is not consistent, the filling is raw. Not sure if the owner does any quality control. The galette is about $40; for this price they should make an effort. Very disappointed.

Melanie B.

Yelp
Dear Heavens- how are there not more of these places everywhere. I was so disappointed I could not fit it in our schedule to go back and could not take any with me because we were walking and they would not hold up in the heat. I don't even have a picture of the delectable tart I ate, because IT WAS AMAZING and I inhaled it. BEST EVER! it was just the most yummy coconut tart with a dab of key lime and marshmallow ring of goodness. The worker was friendly and helpful. Loved her service. If this place were near our hotel, I would have been there daily.

Asja D.

Yelp
If you haven't checked it out yet- VP has some amazing ice cream!!! I got the vanilla and chocolate swirl and let me just tell you- it is nothing short of amazing!! Very richly and tasty- you won't regret treating yourself I promise!

Katie E.

Yelp
I am really disappointed with how my first purchase from Vanille Patisserie went. I was browsing in the French Market grabbing some lunch, when I decided to stop at Vanille to buy a treat for my friend's birthday that night. I decided on Vanille because the cupcakes looked incredible in the display case. The lady taking my order was super nice, and I was very excited about giving this cupcake which was a vanilla base, sprinkles, with a macaroon on top. What I didn't know, was that they forgot to put any barriers in the box I was given. I was given a box 4 times the size of the one cupcake I purchased, with nothing holding the sides of the cupcake. I of course, didn't know this, but I held it in my hands the entire day (didn't put it in a bag or anything). When I'm sitting on the train about to show my friends this amazing, yet expensive, cupcake I purchased, I open the box to find that the cupcake is completely ruined. And I mean COMPLETELY. Why would you not give me an individual box for a cupcake?? And even if you were out, why wouldn't there be cupcake holders inside?! I was really upset, and for an almost EIGHT DOLLAR cupcake- I feel ripped off. What a waste.

Yelp
How sweet, my 200th reviews. So to stay in that bliss, might as well write about something truly sweet and blissful. Vanille Patisserie is becoming a Chicago institution. Their quality and work are very impressive along with the stunning presentation then you guessed it, taste taste taste. How cute that an authentic French pastry shop is located inside the Chicago French Market. Their stall is in the very back towards the left. Yet when there is a high peak event (like Valentine's day) they have a temporary station right at the front door for easy access. My dessert appreciation is high, high and Vanille has a wide variety of items from luscious tarts, mousse cakes, handmade chocolates, and the ever-popular french macaron. I went with the macarons - the cost of one is $2.25, and a set of 6 comes in at $14.95. My selections: two of the seasonal and highly sought after strawberry champagne, one hazelnut, one Nutella, one pistachio, and one mango. For U.S made macarons, these are perfection in terms of texture, balance, and sweetness. The outer shells were smooth and crisp, and the inside fillings were delectable. I've never been huge on macarons, they were always just OK. But I think they were just OK because I hadn't had these. These are hands-down the best macaroons I've had in the US. Many other stores buy in bulk from a pastry house in New York and then they just sit. Vanille macarons are fresh and therefore, moist and delicious on the inside and I was actually able to taste the flavor profile. There are four locations in the city (three north and one south). If you have an opportunity to visit Vanille, try an assortment of their wonderful treats and try a few flavors that you normally wouldn't try. I'm sorry, but when you visit, you will have some tough decisions.

Yelp
My first visit at "Vanille Patisserie" on Broadway blew my wallet last time. I truly did some significant damages on those bad boy macarons, the mango mousse cake, the fruit tart. I still remembered the manager on duty popped a couple of full-sized cake "samples" into the bag. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. My lunch break was always short and sweet, yet I made the best of it. I stopped by the French Market by the Chicago OTC and wanted just "something" from Vanille Patisserie. I picked up a "Sophia" chocolate dome cake with a piece of macaron on top. It was adorable and heavenly delicious at the same time. Some breakfast-friendly items did run out fast, such as croissants in all flavors. There was at least one (1), if not, two (2) left in the plastic display. I literally could spend the entire day, looking at those pastries, and thinking what stores need me to get some work done (I work at the headquarter and also at the store-level when short on staff). In other words, my overtime money goes straight to coffeeshops, bakeries, and desserts! This "Vanille Patisserie" kiosk is located near the dining room, by the "grab & go" market.

Shirley J.

Yelp
I always pass by this bakery when I visit the French Market, but today is the first time I actually purchased something from it. When I looked at the macaron counter with all the colorful macarons screaming at me to purchase, I decided to go for it (also because it was my friend's birthday). I got the hazelnut, Nutella, rose, lavender, and green tea flavors. My favorite ones were the hazelnut and Nutella ones of course. Hazelnut any day, all day. I definitely prefer macarons over macaroons. These were not heavy or too sweet like macaroons. I wanted to try all five flavors but not eat five entire macarons in one sitting. This resulted in a bag full of half-bitten macarons to enjoy later. To store these properly, just put them in an airtight container and into a fridge so that they can last a couple more days if it's too much in one sitting. *** NOTE: It is cheaper to purchase by the piece instead of the 6-piece box unless you want the box. Thank you, kind stranger, for pointing that out earlier! ***

Anne S.

Yelp
I adore this place. It is in a cute little neighborhood in Lincoln park just steps away from the park. The store is gorgeous with high ceilings and hard wood floors and big gallery of display of all the baked goods. The cakes, the macaroons, the bread, the croissants--they are all top quality and delicious. My favorite is the dark chocolate hazelnut cake. My daughter loves to order and then not eat the beautiful macaroons. Service is friendly and easy. I had a wonderful experience here. One of the few places we go back to regularly.

Jill O.

Yelp
The pastries at Vanille are absolutely stunning. They drew us in right from the start of our shopping trip, and we couldn't have resisted it if we wanted to. Shout out to my girlfriend, who was kind enough to spoil me with six of my favorite thing on this earth- macarons. There were a few other bakeries in the market, but these macarons looked the best. They're available in a rainbow of colors- I had a hard time just picking six! A six pack of macarons, which come in a gift box and tied with a sleek looking ribbon, costs $12.95. Eventually, I settled on these six flavors: Pumpkin Spice, Green Tea, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Rose, Lavender, and Mango Passion. The Mango Passion and Lavender were my favorites. They had a super intense flavor packed into them, which is what a macaron is supposed to do to your taste buds. The PB&J one was good, but there was way more jelly flavor than there was peanut butter. The green tea macaron finished in last place. I love a subtle tea flavor as much as the next foodie, but I couldn't pick it up even a note. It just tasted like straight sugar. But, with the exception of the green tea, the other macarons were amazing. The shells were perfect, the filling was well proportioned and full of flavor. I'll definitely purchase more cookies from here the next time that I'm in the neighborhood.

Patricia O.

Yelp
The most beautiful desserts, the best part is that they are not only pretty but also very tasty too. A good selection of patisserie. My recommendations are the Tiramisu and the Passion fruit tart

Saira K.

Yelp
Cute stall of a great patisserie at the Chicago French Market. They the same discount on pastries after 4 pm that their other locations have. Very nice croissants, pastries, and macarons.

Marcia S.

Yelp
Ooh lala! Just can't get enough of their macarons. When I'm in the mood for a treat, I walk down to the French Market and buy one caramel and one chocolate macaron (one is just not enough). Consider myself a connoisseur of sorts of "le macaron," and Vanille's is the best I've found. When I'm going to someone's home for dinner or a party, I bring a box of the assorted ones. (Much more appreciated than a bottle of wine.) They are always fresh, and packaged in their signature box with a ribbon, make a great gift. I'd never sampled any of their other patisseries, until last night. I went to a fundraiser, The Kouzina at the National Hellenic Museum, with top chefs serving up their specialties. There was an entire room devoted to desserts, and this was the most popular table. I over-served myself with six different petit fours. (I only stopped at six because I was getting light headed from the sugar high.) Each one was delicious and melted in my mouth. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the one like a sweet caramel streusel. The French Market is the only one of their locations I've visited, and the service is always friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Stacey L.

Yelp
Hooray for entremets! Vanille had been on my list for literally years and I finally made my way there at the end of 2016 after discovering it had been next to Ogilvie all along. I've since been back and have sampled a few of their beautiful desserts. ROYAL: deer sweet baby J, please let this masterpiece be a part of my life forever. Chocolate mousse, hazelnut dacquoise, caramel streusel. The blend of flavors and textures is true perfection. Ten out of ten, please deliver one to my house monthly. MANJARI: chocolate on chocolate on chocolate in the form of cremeux, mousse, and flourless cake. SOPHIA: Manjari's sassy cousin that shares its flourless chocolate cake and chocolate mousse, but mixes it up with a vanilla cremeux and a crunchy hazelnut shell. TART CACAHUETES: as a peanut butter and chocolate addict I thought this would be my favorite, but it actually fell to the bottom of the pack. Still delicious and filled with peanut butter cream, honeyed mousse, and glazed in chocolate, but for me it either needed to be sweeter or saltier. Would I turn it down if someone offered it to me? No. But I likely will keep exploring the rest of the case before ordering it again. There are still some items on my hit list (the Emotion Chocolate cake and the colorful macarons) that I'm curious to see whether they can unseat the Royal from its throne.

Christina S.

Yelp
Yeah...French Macaroons in Red, White and Blue to celebrate Bastille Day on July 14th! Extensive selection of nice sized macaroons and a variety of flavors to choose from which you can purchase individually or dressed up with a signature box! I purchased three macaroons and added Acrylic Eiffel Tower Cupcake Toppers from 1TheCherryOnTop from etsy.com to celebrate. https://www.etsy.com/listing/204778178/acrylic-eiffel-tower-cupcake-topper?ga_search_query=Acrylic+Eiffel+Tower&ref=shop_items_search_1 Will return in the future to try other desserts!

Erika G.

Yelp
Cute little macaron shop. Had a weird craving for these delicious little morsels, so what else to do but indulge? Indulging in these can be pricey though, and that is pretty disappointing. 6 of these in a cellophane bag will set you back $12.95. They're good, but damn . . . why are they so expensive? This is not the only place at the French market that has these things, so I may try another place next time. The flavors I got: raspberry, mango, dreamsicle, salted caramel, blueberry, and strawberry champagne were very tasty.

Sarah S.

Yelp
I bought a double chocolate special treat from them which was $6.25 + tax, a bit pricey. But it's put in a box and looks all fancy so would make a cute small gift for someone. The service here was quick but not as friendly as the other shops in the Chicago French Market. Honestly for me, the chocolate was just meh. My friend got macaroons and he said they were awesome. This chocolate was definitely not worth the price. Take your $6.25 and go get a couple of cupcakes at Sweet Miss Giving's instead. :)

May Y.

Yelp
Rainbow! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. You literally can find a macaroon in every single color of the rainbow at Vanile Patisserie. Great aesthetics, how about the flavor? Frankly speaking, I am quite disappointed, considering that I have come to French Market specifically for the macaroons here. They are too sweet and too flaky. The biggest problem is that they don't taste like the way they are branded. However, both my friend and I like the green tea macaroon here. It is quite refreshing and flavorful. I will come back to Vanille for this. Food: 2 Service: 5 Decor: 4

Jacob H.

Yelp
Over cooked almond croissant When I think of a croissant I think pillowy and light with butter and nice and flaky. This croissant was hard to bite into! Chewy around the sides and dry. Not flaky at all. Disappointing. They girl at the counter was nice. But I am glad I got coffee near by to soak and soften my morning confection.

Shannon M.

Yelp
I couldn't wait to stop here when I went to the Chicago French Market because of their famous MACARONS. Not the coconut kind, but the Frenchified pastel meringue kind with a lovely ganachey filling. I bought four (they are not cheap for what appears to be a tiny cookie -- $1.25 each -- but a lot of effort goes into the making of these things; look at the book "I [heart] Macarons!" by Hisako Ogita to see exactly how much). The first two were not terribly exciting (the chocolate hazelnut was a little tough, as if it were stale or overworked; the one whose flavor eludes me -- it was white but airbrushed partially with orange -- just tasted flat). I was prepared to be disillusioned, but then I ate the other two. WOW! The pistachio had LOADS of flavor, and the coconut-passionfruit had a complexity that was just amazing. I will definitely be back for these. I also got a croissant, for this morning's breakfast, which was the perfect matrix of crackly crust, buttery tenderness and flaky layers. There were also assorted jewel-like tarts and small cakes that looked quite impressive. I'll certainly return to Vanille for macarons and to try other baked delights whenever I'm in the French Market. C'est delicieux!!

Megan L.

Yelp
The cakes here are a little pricey but so worth! I also can only speak towards the cake but the macaroons also look good. So I got the raspberry dark chocolate cake and their iconic tiramisu cake and both were really good. I could not pick a favorite. So these cakes do have some cake layers on the bottom but for the most part consist of creamy and foamy textures surrounding it. So don't go expecting a typical birthday cake in there. The flavors are layered wonderfully in my humble opinion and the cakes themselves are very beautiful.

Tian Q.

Yelp
Macarons: -Unpleasantly surprised by the texture based on the reputation of this place, was all wrong, too dry and flaky -However, food-snobbery aside, they tasted good, especially the green tea Pistachio bar: -Pistachio-flavored pastries typically taste like chemical puke; this one tasted like I-need-to-go-to-chicago-and-live-at-the-french-market-everyday

Jessica M.

Yelp
Vanille never fails to sweep me off my feet with their glamorous and adventurous collection of macarons! Macarons are sold by the piece at $1.50 each. The price lowers if you buy in a larger quantity of at least 15 pieces. They are usually packaged in a clear and sealed plastic bag. Should you decide to accessorize with the gift box and ribbon, the price would fall closer to $2.00 each. My friend had the chocolate, white chocolate lychee, and grapefruit campari macarons. With her hands raised and clenched in fists, she squealed in a high and stretched pitch, "So good! Damn!" It was not the most elegant way to express her satisfaction, but the message was clearly delivered. These little darlings are the devil! I had the turtle, pineapple mint, and mango passion macarons. I made a repeat of my friend's overly-hyper reaction except I was also jumping up and down with glee. Note: The turtle was made with sea salt caramel! My fave thus far!

Lily F.

Yelp
I loved it and I didn't even get the macaroons. I got one tiny passion fruit tart. It was tangy and sweet, the filling was pudding-like but the crust was the best part for me. I have to come back for their macaroons and see what else is up.

Ivanka B.

Yelp
I had to remove one star from a patisserie in SF since the almond croissants here really are the best! Nice and crispy (the place in SF had some sogginess to it) with a lovely filling. No pictures b/c they didn't last that long in my bag! As far the macarons go: only tried green tea and rose, personally I couldn't tell much between the flavors (I'm sick right now so that might have something to do with it) but the texture was awesome. These little devils are a $1.50 each but I think that's b/c they aren't easy to make this perfectly ...

Batool H.

Yelp
A friend suggested this place on my trip to Chicago knowing that I love macarons. It is located inside the French Market, a cute indoor market with multiple vendors. Vanille Patisserie is a little hidden as the last vendor before exiting the market into the transportation center. Let me preface by saying that my favorite macarons are from Laduree. I have never found any macaron that comes close to their texture and taste. That is, until Vanille Patisserie. I only tried the Pistachio macaron and it was very good. The filling was well done. The only problem I had was that I felt they were a little hard to chew and could have been a bit softer. However, other than that, the texture and taste was great! I can't speak for the other desserts as I only tried the macaron but reading the reviews, it sounds like those are yummy as well. If you're looking for a good place to get your macaron fix, definitely give Vanille Patisserie a try!

Vicky L.

Yelp
Their macaroons are pure perfection! I loved the texture of it and the wide variety of flavors. I got the green tea, lavendar, vanilla, rose, red velvet, and nutella. There wasn't a single one that I didnt enjoy! The colors were super cute too and definitely not too sweet to eat all 6 in one day...oops...

Yelp
Everything at Vanille is so pretty and taste as good as it looks! Their star attraction has to be their macarons; there so many to choose from and I loved all the eye popping colors of each flavor. My favorites were the lavender, rose and raspberry; the flavors were so fragrant and intense! The raspberry(?) preserve in the red velvet was a nice, unexpected surprise; you can't go wrong with the vanilla, hazelnut, Nutella & pistachio flavors either. The casis flavor was interesting and my least favorite was the green tea which didn't taste bad but lacked the flavor of the other macarons. Alas, I couldn't try all the flavors because at $2.05 a piece, it can get expensive really fast! Next time I'd love to try the mango passion fruit and salted caramel (this one wasn't available when I was there). My daughter got the Wyatt cupcake which is a ginormous red velvet cupcake with a with a cream cheese filling inside, covered in a buttercream frosting and topped with white chocolate shavings and a red velvet macaron. It cost $6.35 before tax but so worth it! The cashier suggested that it was best to eat it at room temperature, so about an hour sitting out. I'm glad she told us this and I wonder if the negative reviews about this cupcake was because they ate it right away which would make everything "harder" and not meld together as well. My daughter said it was one her favorite red velvet cupcakes ever! I'm usually not a big fan of buttercream frosting but omg, this was the best I've ever had!! They call it an Italian meringue buttercream and it is so buttery, light and not too sweet! I cannot wait to go back and try the other pretties in the display case!

Yelp
White chocolate lychee macarons! Get them before they are gone! I had some on a Friday, came back Saturday late afternoon to bring some back home and they were all gone! My hubby and friend are both not into macarons, but they both agreed the WCL was delish!

Yelp
Located at the entrance of the French Market, Vanille, is a great spot to grab macaroons for yourself or to take home. They offer macaroons individually and in a beautiful, simple gift box. I ordered the box of 6 macaroons in a box. I opted for the box and even those it's a bit more expensive than the bag of macaroons, because I planned on walking throughout the day and didn't want my macaroons to break/get crushed. The box also says Vanille Chicago on it. I got the following flavors: Nutella, coconut, rose, pistachio, and currant. My favorite was the rose because of the light airy quality and flavor. The cookie was perfectly made and even lasted until the next day. Sadly, the currant flavor didn't live up to my dreams of what it could be. I think this is a perfectly good flavor, just not what I expected. My husband tried the Nutella one and enjoyed the cookie, but also would love additional Nutella flavor. Overall, a great place to grab a gift to take home, and while you're there, grab one for yourself!

Yelp
I have fond memories of Vanille Patisserie because my fiance would buy their macarons for my mom and me throughout the years. My mom loves macarons, even more than me lol, and she always opened a box of Vanille's with happiness. Never found a cracked one. I think there was one flavor that she didn't like, a jammy raspberry one. Other than that, I've only heard good things from her about their macarons. Of the ones I've tried, my current favorite is their salted caramel. Do recommend for the sweet tooth in your life :)

Yelp
I purchase four items that included two croissants. This lady named Yesenia served me. When she initially picked up the items, she did not wear gloves on both her hands. Yet, she touched the inside of the box and bag that she placed the croissants in, with her unprotected hands. Upon noticing this, I asked her to wear gloves on both her hands and pack new items. She rolled her eyes and made a face. So I told her that if she does not pack new items I wont be able to complete the purchase. She responded by saying that she has always only worn a glove on one of her hands and that is per instructions by the owner of the store. After brief argument, she proceeded to pack new items and disposed the initially packed items. She initially charged me an amount that did not include the "50% off on croissants after 4:30 PM" promotion as noted at the store. When I asked her about it, she once again made a face, rolled her eyes and nodded her head. She pretended to make the change on the computer and asked me to insert my credit card. When I did, the non discounted amount came up on the screen. I pulled out my card and questioned her. She was silent and proceeded to fix it. Finally I paid the right amount and left the store. I ended up being charged twice and yet to receive a refund! I was extremely disappointed with Yesenia's behavior as it was very clear to me that she intentionally wanted to provide me with poor experience while shopping at your store. At times like this, basic hygienic is extremely important. As a customer, I expect the bakery's staff to have the right attitude while serving their customers. They should be provided with relevant and adequate training to serve food during a pandemic by their supervisors. Clearly this lady's supervisor and or the owner of this bakery has failed miserably! Staff like Yesenia aren't fit to be in this role - simply horrible person that customer like myself should not have to deal with!

Yelp
This place is the cutest place! My first time having an opportunity to try any of the gorgeous desserts from Vanille and they did not disappoint! From the French macaroons, to the cupcakes to the entremets desserts you can't resist this display! I tried the mango passion fruit macaron and one of the delectable cupcakes and they were fantastic! It's a splurge and these edible creations are NOT CHEAP, but an awesome treat!

Yelp
This is officially my new fave Patisserie in the Lincoln Park area. There's really not much to not love! The staff is so friendly and joyous. They really make a point to be immersed in your decision making. The ambiance is amazing as well, and don't get me started on the patio outside. If you're looking for a nice place to get coffee/pastries and tea this is really it. I will be back!

Yelp
It's every bit as good as it looks. The croissants are buttery and flaky with a dark chocolate filling that is perfectly sweet to contrast the pastry.

Yelp
Average price for macarons, but they are tasty and offer a large variety of flavors (12!) You can also get them catered in bulk very easily with at least 2 days notice. Purchased 60 for my company and they were on time and well made.
