Finally, an Update on the Old Zinque Space at Abbot Kinney and Venice - Eater LA

"Varro was an Argentine wine bar project from Alejandro Marchesini and restaurateur Bill Chait that moved into 600 Venice Boulevard in 2021 but lasted only a few months." - Paolo Bicchieri

Varro - Review - Venice - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Taking full advantage of its prime corner property at Venice and Abbot Kinney, this Argentinian wine bar has a massive, shaded front patio and breezy, light-filled interior that feels designed solely with first dates in mind. That said, if we’re flying solo or meeting a friend for a casual midweek dinner, you’ll find us sitting right at the bar. Here is where you can chat up the somm until you find the exact right wine you’re in the mood for (their list includes both South and North American wines, as well as European) and then stare longingly into the open hearth filled with sizzling meats and vegetables. As far as food goes, we’ve yet to try anything here we dislike, but the aubergine escabeche, a marinated eggplant dish topped with stracciatella cheese and raisins, is a standout." - Brant Cox

I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience at Varro! After ordering my first entree the bartender recommended a fantastic wine (2019 Bordeaux Chavrignac) to pair with my meal. A few starters, an entree and dessert were all part of one of the best culinary experiences I've had in LA. All of the dishes were an elevated take on food I grew up with. I look forward to returning soon and bringing more friends and family!

Not fan of the tastes and flavors of the several dishes we tried even if the presentation was nice.

I had a great first experience at Varro - the atmosphere and ambiance is great, the staff was friendly and the food was really delicious. The snap peas and eggplant were my two favorite dishes of the many tasty ones we ordered. The sauces were the best part. Looking forward to continuing to dine here.

We ordered several plates, to try a bit of each. Everything was delicious. My favorites were the butternut squash, the carrots and the ribeye, which are a perfect choice to share among 3 or 4. The chocolate dessert is superb, but my favorite was the cheese and figs, which elegantly recreates a typical argentine classic with an unexpected yet amazing twist.

One of the best restaurants in LA for sure.

Had such a lovely experience here..from the organic and industrial decor to the farm fresh and grass fed Ribeye. One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had since before covid. The Ribeye is unbelievably good. My lady had the skirt steak, and scallions.loved loved. Tons of options for everyone on the menu. Make a reservation and correct me if I'm wrong.

Feedback: Staff needs more training and a uniform, the music/playlist needs refining, food was ok- toast seemed to be served with everything, prices were decent though 🙏

This is not an Argentinian restaurant, the meat is mediocre, the prices are ridiculous for the quality they offer. Service is very slow
