Living nearby, I pass this place regularly. It's always caught my eye as I perceived it a chill place to grab a bite and have a drink.
When the bar began popping up in my social media, I submitted in giving them a shot. The food looked amazing and the influencers really did a good job selling the joint.
It's an Irish bar, alright! Actual Irish patrons. Actual Irish barmaid. Irish food items and beer on the menu. Irish insignia throughout, but not in an overwhelming way. I really liked the space: polished wood, glass-stained lamps, really nice booths (the two top booths were really charming and intimate, definitely date worthy for something out of the ordinary).
I opted for the bar and my friend and I were first to arrive alongside a couple of regulars. Within minutes the place had several other guests. I knew I was in the right spot!
On Tuesday's it's $3 off any burger. I initially wanted to try the Irish breakfast sandwich but couldn't turn away $3 off a burger. To make up for my loss, I got the next best thing to the Irish breakfast sandwich: the Irish sausage in blankets appetizer. Pretty darn good I'd say. I didn't realize the Irish were fond of curry. There definitely was a hint of it in the app.
For my meal, I did the Chirish burger: Irish bacon, Irish cheddar, American bacon on brioche. I'd say it's a good starter plate if you're unfamiliar with Irish fare and want to play it safe. The food alone was worth the visit.
Our barmaid was lovely really. She seemed to know all her guests (which is why they were all served before my friend and I who actually arrived first lol). I took the experience in stride. But money just doesn't come easy for me, which is why I put such an emphasis on service and it's really quite a bummer when I have to ask for basic things: water refills, another drink order whilst sitting before an empty beer glass for what seemed like forever--a pen for my tab. I sat well over 10 minutes with an open check presenter and a printed tab waiting for her to finish a story about the love lives of her children to other patrons to get a pen to settle the bill.
I didn't mind waiting to place my order of beer (I initially wanted a spiked peach ice tea but seeing how slow she was I figured I'd shoot for something off the tap). I didn't mind waiting to place my food order (again, well after everyone else in the joint who arrived after)...To get my water refilled. To ask for my check. But the whole sitting around for a pen to PAY HER was just a turn off and my $10 on $80 was reflective of it. To her defense, she was the only server, busser and runner.
Maybe I need to take a hit of weed, or get laid. But I guess I'm just not that chill to wait around to be waited on by someone so nonchalant. I'd love to come back but, would you, after writing such a dismal review?
