H Street’s Big Board Is in Big Trouble After Repeated Vaccine Mandate Violations - Eater DC

"A former bank has a new life now that Vault & Cellar restaurant is stocking 115 bourbons to pair with its haute Appalachian dishes like egg rolls stuffed with pickled collard greens and served with bourbon-dill honey mustard sauce." - Stephanie Carter

We were excited to try the brunch. The seating is our biggest complaint. We had 4 adults and a baby and we were seated in the bar area. We had a bench seat all wood and no pad, and then 2 of the swivel bar stools that are horrible, paired with a high top table that was wobbly. The chairs are pretty to look at but the most uncomfortable chairs. I constantly felt I was falling and described it as those pencils as a kid that had a spring and a bobblehead on top. And if you managed to get your chair stable then you touch the table and it was moving. I definitely would not sit there again. The server was very kind, food variety was a nice variety. The food was average but not great for the high prices. Our omelet was $26, I believe. Totally for 4 people was $148 before tip. That did include 1 mimosa and 1 bloody mary.

A must see when in the area. The rabbit was cooked to perfection. Dan, the resident bourbon expert, was attentive and informative. Bourbon tastings occur every Wednesday evening at 6 PM - and the stuff they bring out for tasting is typically top notch. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'll be back, and soon!

Husband and I are locals and were looking forward to trying this place so close to home. My husband is a WV native so the Appalachian menu was definitely appealing. Our server was friendly at first, but not attentive at all. She brought out our food, but never offered to refill our drinks or even bring out a steak knife. It wasn’t until our meals were finished did she ask if we were okay, and at that point I was ready to leave. I ordered the pork chop and my husband had the venison. The presentation of each dish was lovely, and my husband could cut his venison with a butter knife. My pork chop was okay, but definitely dry. All in all the food was pretty flavorful. However I expected it to be more than just okay and I definitely expected better service for the prices they were charging. Didn’t bother with dessert because after eating our meal with a single drink each, we were over it. Cool place in theory, but we won’t returning.

Love, love, love this spot! Located in a historic bank on the main street in Middletown, this place is awesome. An eclectic menu offerring Appalachian cuisine at its best. Everything was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was charming. Unique coctails and an extensive  whiskey and bourbon offerring. Other: high and liw top tables, bar area, Street parking, gender neutral restrooms. Our server Dan was AMAZING! What we tried: *Scotch Eggs soft boiled quail eggs wrapped in scrapple, breaded in pork rinds & potato chips *Ramp & Boar Gnocchi - Gnocchi Sardi, wild boar sausage, ramps, dandelion greens, oyster mushrooms, lemon, butter, chili flake *FRIED BRUSSEL SPROUTs bacon jam & pecorino *JALAPEÑO-CHEDDAR CORNBREAD buter + hot honey GRILLED CABBAGE STEAK sweet onion agrodolce, walnuts, balsamic reduction *MY BODY Is A TEMPLE zero proof bourbon, orange-vanilla cordial, cherry syrup *KILLING ME SOFTLY duck fat washed Wild Turkey 101 bourbon, sweet vermouth,juniper-brown sugar syrup, elderberry & black walnut bitters My rating rationale +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

As locals, we truly want to love this place, but the service has been incredibly inconsistent. When they opened, we came for my birthday dinner, only to find the restaurant overbooked even with reservations. They offered us a free appetizer after not being served, but informed us it would be over an hour before our entrées would arrive. We ended up leaving. We gave it another chance on Valentine’s Day this year and had a wonderful dinner, which gave us hope. Encouraged, we recently made a reservation for brunch. Unfortunately, we were seated in direct sunlight and left unattended for nearly 30 minutes. When someone finally noticed us, we politely asked to move to the bar due to the heat. Once there, we were again ignored for several more minutes. At that point, we decided to leave and find breakfast elsewhere. To be fair, the food (when we’ve had the chance to enjoy it) has been excellent. It’s just disappointing that the experience is so unpredictable.

All of the staff made us feel special on our date night and the food and drinks were phenomenal. I had never tried rabbit or goat before and they were delicious. The portion sizes were perfect and I loved their seasonal items and options. I highly recommend this elevated Appalachian restaurant, it's well worth the price.

Google
Came for dinner on a Saturday. We went straight to ordering entrees, but the chef was nice enough to bring us eggrolls as the food and cocktails (including my bourbon flight) ended up taking a while. I enjoyed my pork chop, which was tender and juicy. Two guests at our table that ordered the duck felt it was too rare with not enough sear to make the texture enjoyable so they only ate the outer more done pieces. Our other guests liked the gnocchi and the catfish.

Google
The name suits this place since you will need to cash in your life savings.. Over priced for the food quality. Waitress did not get our order in a timely manner. The apps came out and we still haven't got the order placed. $8 for a small bowl of boiled peanuts. Shrimp and grits blah, picked egg was nice. I just can't get over that high price. My rating is 3.4, I miss Nanas.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant ever. The Appalachian egg rolls and pork belly bites often come up in conversations when I talk about this place!

Yelp
Yummmm Loved their eclectic and fresh menu, there were so many great sounding dishes. I particularly liked the goat cheese arranccini and the catfish. Plus the chocolate mouse was both light and incredibly flavorful. The actual restaurant has a cool vibe, and the waitress & hostess were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We arrived around 7:25 (rsvp 730). We were immediately taken to our table and offered water and menus. Our server, came back and asked for drink orders. We ordered 2 coffees. Atillo came back and let us know a new pot was being brewed (thanks). We then put in app orders (eggrolls and pork belly bites). We received those at 745 (perfect, thanks!) Around 805 we ordered our dinner. 815 we ordered a whiskey flight and received it 833. At 9pm, we still did not have our food. A few times between 9 and 930, we were told it was being worked on (Atillo also asked if we were waiting on the duck and the shrimp and grits. We reminded him it was the duck and the goat). 915 ish, we ordered biscuits. 9:22 we got the biscuits. Around 935 we were told our food was being plated. 949,we received our food. Busy nights are understandable, but almost 2 hours for a meal is excessive. The food was great and we even ordered dessert. We aren't sure where the disconnect was but, if we were to try the venue again, we hope it would be a more efficient experience

Yelp
Really good food, with a creative menu of artistically rendered tasty and attractive gourmet food served in satisfying portions. Friendly service. Go early on weekdays (before 5:30) or make reservations, especially on weekends because people know about this place now. We ate at the restaurant on the mail level with The Vault, and know nothing of the cellar as we don't drink, though the bar serves patrons on both levels. Interesting decor and wall art, amusing furnishings and tableware. Fine food at a good value.

Yelp
I don't know know how many stars to give. We know the food and cocktails are good; we have eaten here before. But we were disappointed to drive 45 minutes and find the restaurant closed. We called ahead to make sure the restaurant was open since it was a Monday evening. The recording confirmed that yes they were open on Mondays and closed Tuesdays. There was no note on the door explaining new hours or an emergency closing.

Yelp
We stopped by for brunch. The restaurant was packed and but we were able to find seats downstairs at the bar. Our waitress sat us and pretty much forgot about us, thankfully another waitress asked if anyone had taken an order. I had the Shrimp and grits with a side of brussel sprouts with a Bloody Mary and she had the prosciutto Benedict and a side of hot sauce. My shrimp and grits were great, the smell, the look, the texture and the flavor all perfect. The sprouts had so much salt you could choke on it. The Bacon And greens Bloody Mary although strong was a joke as far as size. (Before comments about the saltiness of prosciutto is claimed...We both lived in Italy and know what prosciutto is like.) The Crispy prosciutto eggs Benedict was grotesquely salty and the potato coins that looked like they should have been at least partially crispy were a soggy pile of mushy potatoes. The hot sauce was never delivered. This trip was an unfortunate disappointment. We will be back because we know they can create some great food.

Yelp
This is truly a hidden gem! Make this your next destination restaurant. Make a reservation! It's a small venue inside an old small town bank, with exposed brick, and the old vault. The staff and service were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. And the food, well let's just say phenomenal!!! The only thing we would change are the Brussel Sprouts.

Yelp
My husband and I was running around this beautiful town and we decided to try this place. Food was amazing. The tenderloin was flavored and soft. The walnut pesto is something that was never was trying but the taste of this dish is unique and combines with the smell is a enjoying experience. Dessert were not less delicious... Definitely recommend

Yelp
Vault and Cellar is one of our "go-to" places in the area when we want a great meal in a nice atmosphere. Their bourbon selection is top notch and always look forward to my Angels Envy old fashioned. The food is always a winner and if you haven't tried it, the pickle ice cream is worth a try.

Yelp
There's only a few times in life where you stumble upon a gem when it comes to cuisine in a small town.. Vault and Cellar is an amazing and unique culinary experience that is only once in a lifetime. I have eaten majority of this menu and never have I come across a dish that has not surprised me in the most amazing way! They specialize in whiskey! The staff is warm and welcoming as they were your family! And the food is Michelin star! If you're looking for something delicious, quality and ingredients, and organically fantastic... Look no further!!! Vault and Cellar is where you need to be! ps- try the vault burger , sirloin steak , pork belly - hoisin sauce and picked eggs !!!! I am not joking! This place is special and anyone that says otherwise is a damn liar!

Yelp
10/10 ! Loved everything from pulling up to the cool building through the whole dining experience. Attentive, friendly service. Food came out quickly, was delicious and beautifully plated. Must try the biscuits with hot honey! Can't wait to go back. Worth the hour drive.

Yelp
The food is always amazing here! Big soft fluffy pancakes. A flaky hearty biscuit smothered in gravy and out of this world beet pickled eggs and Appalachian egg rolls. The wait staff are friendly and attentive! The dining room is cute and comfortable. Feels like being at grandma's house.

Yelp
This place is weird in the best way! Menu always has something that makes you really question it, but I've never been disappointed here. Everything is fresh and has great flavor. Tried the breakfast shots which included a quail egg wrapped in scrapple - delicious! Also highly recommend their burgers, you can tell the beef is high quality.

Yelp
Food was very tasty with lots on the menu. Enjoyed our waiter. The place was very busy at lunchtime and she was not in the weeds, Just enough attention. Ambiance , well you can tell, it was holiday decorum by our photo. Would not miss stopping at this place on our way through to Basye Resort .

Yelp
The food is awesome, service is good, ambiance is nice and quiet. Music selection is good. I've been coming in for a few weeks now, wanted to try the venison, ended up trying many of their other menu options. They have an extensive selection of bourbon

Yelp
We arrived on a weekend with reservations, as my boyfriend planned to treat me for my birthday at the Vault & Cellar as a surprise. They seated us downstairs, offering privacy but it was quite chilly. I believe the ambiance might have been better upstairs. The lower level was dimly lit, making it challenging to read the menu. However, I appreciated the historic charm of the old building housing the restaurant. I opted for the shrimp and grits, featuring a distinctive wine sauce. My boyfriend enjoyed the wild boar sausage. We also sampled the onion fritters, reminiscent of cornbread and accompanied by a dipping sauce. While our dishes were aesthetically pleasing, they seemed rather small in portion size. I wished they were a bit larger in size since we ran to get snacks after. We both enjoyed our cocktails. Overall it was a cool place with a good vibe and I would return to have drinks at the bar if I am in town again.

Yelp
Visiting from out of state, we happened to find this while looking for somewhere to eat and now we're planning trips around being able to come back. The food was exceptional, the bourbon selection is almost too much and the service was wonderful.
google avatar

Christiane G.

Yelp
This little gem is well worth the visit. Housed in an old bank, it is loaded with charm - and an excellent whiskey selection. Had the shrimp and grits and it is literally the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot in a lot of different big and small cities). The country ham is a flavorful substitute for bacon and the grits were creamy with just the right hint of chew. Do yourself a favor and get a soft poached egg on top for an amazing brunch dish

Yelp
This place was so good! My family of 6 went for dinner. The appetizer was delicious(Scotch Eggs), every entree was very good(we had catfish, wild boar sausage, pork chops), cocktails were great(I had the devil went down to Georgia), and desserts were amazing(chai ginger crème brûlée and s'mores mousse).Everyone was happy with their choices. I highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've had. Fantastic cuisine, incredible cocktails, and a vast whiskey/bourbon menu. The service was great. The ambiance of an old bank is a cool dining venue. If you love meat/game, the dining choices are for you, but there are loads of options if that's not your preference. Can't wait to eat here again.

Yelp
What a gem! The decor and atmosphere is nice but laid back, the service is great, and the food was fantastic. We shared the chicken liver pate and the pork belly bites for starters which were both great. I had an old fashioned from the House Cocktails which was perfect. Tried the duck for my main course and it was perfectly cooked and the flavors of the whole dish were amazing. I live in the Northwest US and would go to JuneBaby in Seattle when it was there, which was a Southern/soul food restaurant that won a James Beard award for best new restaurant in the NW one year, and my meal at Vault & Cellar was just as fantastic as any meal I had there. If this was located where I live I'd be here all the time.

Yelp
We traveled over an hour to have a night out with dinner and drinks but I wasn't impressed. The shrimp and grits with red wine sauce was just strange... the biscuits and honey butter were phenomenal but when it came to pricing on the bourbon list I was shocked to see some of the specialty bourbons being sold at the same price per oz as 1/4 the bottle cost. Over all the place was ok, but I wanted to impress my partner and it was a let down for me.

Yelp
Vault and cellar is located in Middle Town VA, and frankly is a 5 star venue that could be transported any where in the US where there is gourmet fair. It was a little hard to find because it blends in with the houses that surround it. There is parking right in front. Vault and Cellar is housed in an old building with lots of character. There are tables throughout and a full bar in the back with more Bourbon in that one bar than there probably is in the entire city. The service was absolutely splendid, which matched the food and drink options. We started the night with a craft beer and wine. Fir the appetizer we chose the egg rolls. They were absolutely scrumptious. Also had a Bourbon flight of the Rabbit Hole. OMG great! For entrees we had the Shrimp and grits and the fried catfish. The shrimp and grits were the star. The grits were made from blue corn, velvety and super delicious. The catfish was good, but it took a little bit to get the perfect bite. The catfish tasted frozen, but it was still good. The batter was a little salty and it came with a mint slaw which had lemon citrus and cooked barley. The key to the perfect bite was to take the fish, a little barley and slaw. It paired perfectly. Also tried the fish with some of the blue corn grits, that was also amazing. If I order the catfish again, I'm going to request it with the grits. All in all, Vault and Cellar was a wonderful time. Can't wait to go back and try the Rabbit Food, duck and the cabbage steak. Vault and Cellar is delicious and delightful with an ambiance to match.

Yelp
Just found this place!!!! Wow!!! Unbelievable! Gourmet, well balanced meals with amazing taste. We had shrimp and grits, peanut soup, quail scotch eggs !!! I'm coming back again and again!!! This Chef is awesome!!! Cool small restaurant feel, with an out of this world bourbon list!!! New favorite restaurant in Virginia!

Yelp
Disappointed in food and drinks. Expected fine dining but got basic overcooked food, with pricey drinks.

Yelp
OMG. This food. These drinks. This amazing building. I want to curl up and die in this restaurant. Lock me in the vault. Ok. I'll slow it down. We get there, right? Quaint little place, very unsuspecting. Check in and greeted warmly by everybody. There's an awesome patio with herbs and flowers and we get a cocktail while the kiddo is enjoying the weather. Cocktails- I didn't know that I didn't know how something could kick me in the mouth that hard. Just waive a hand in any general direction of this cocktail menu and wait for it...you can't miss. The whiskey and bourbon menu alone will make any connoisseur weep. Food- if it sounds strange, that's what you want. These wondrous culinary magicians do unworldly things with food that fever dreams can't touch and you'll be like "why peanuts? pickled what?" - shut up and eat it and let it slap you like your mama shoulda right in the mouth. Don't save room for desert- that goes in an extra compartment, and you go for it like Bruce Bogtrotter because this is now a competition to have as much dumb-founding amazing food as you can. We got one of everything. Judge me. I have no regrets. I will be back. I will be there all night (again). I love Vault and Cellar.

Yelp
I usually don't write reviews for a business unless I can write a five star review; however, because this restaurant was so highly recommended to us, and because we were so utterly disappointed despite the recommendation and great reviews from other customers, I felt I had to submit a review. Let me preface my review by saying that the chef/owner comped our entire dinner because she recognized that her establishment had failed to meet even the minimum expectations, so I give her credit for that. We had reservations for four on a Saturday evening at 7:30, which included my husband, our two adult daughters and me. The restaurant was extremely noisy, so much so that our usually exceedingly tolerant 24 year old daughter complained about the volume of noise. After our order was taken, the waiter returned to our table to tell us that they were sold out of both the appetizer and the entree that my husband had ordered. My husband decided to forego an appetizer and ordered another entree. We then waited...and waited...and waited for 1 1/2 hours for our dinners to arrive. When they finally did arrive, my entree was nowhere to be seen. Our server then asked me what I had ordered and told me it would arrive in three minutes. Needless to say, my order had never been submitted with the others, so it was not ready in three minutes. In fact, my family finished their meals, and mine never arrived. My husband actually had to go back into the kitchen to speak with the chef who told him that all our meals were being comped, and mine was packaged for me to take home. I wish I could say that the quality of the food made up for the complete lack of service, but unfortunately, that was not the case. We all felt the small portions, combined with the lack of quality and expense of each meal, was extremely disappointing. In fact, I actually threw my meal in the garbage when we got home. There was one highlight of the evening, and that was my drink, the Steel Magnolia. It was absolutely delicious, and I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE food. A little on the pricey side but well worth it. The cocktails and bourbon menu are insane as well!

Yelp
Holy smokes! Best food on our trip! Literally just driving by hwy and needed food and found this scrumptious place. I had the watermelon salad and hubs had the sweet potato hash with wild boar sausage. We could have licked the plates. The people working there were obviously foodies and gave us tips for places on our route. What a gem!

Yelp
This place is a culinary adventure - in an awesome way! I love this restaurant. The drinks are amazing too, especially if you like bourbon.

Lillian R.

Yelp
After being spoiled with the culinary delights of Charleston, SC dining out in the surrounding areas of my birthplace of Front Royal, VA seems to always fall flat. To say that I was blown away by this small restaurant in Middletown, VA would be a gross understatement. The menu is innovative with surprising twists that pay homage to the local Appalachian roots without sacrificing extraordinary culinary genius. The watermelon salad's combinations of fresh flavors danced around my palate leaving me excited to experience the next course. The Appalachian Egg Rolls elevated all that is wonderful about down home country cooking with an outstanding presentation packed with flavor in every bite. The Arancini was an unexpected magical combination of both flavor and texture and should not be overlooked. For my main course I had the Venison. It was perfection! It was hard for me to imagine that there could be any dessert that could hold it's own with such an extraordinary meal. The featured special dessert was a fennel honey peach with ginger ice cream. All I can tell you is that I am still dreaming about it! Vault and Cellar is one of the best kept secrets in the Shenandoah. I visited this restaurant twice while I was in the area and I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Let me first say that this is probably the best restaurant in the Middleburg/Woodstock/Strasburg area. This is the only place to go if you want a nice date night and a fancy cocktail. Overall I wish this restaurant would just simplify the menu. Some flavor pairings were just odd; like the duck and corn cake dish. The corn cakes just didn't add anything to the dish. That being said, the boar sausage was really good. We were frankly confused by the panna cotta. It came out with an enormous potion of curd and only a dollop of the cream. The cheesecake tasted like it had been in the fridge a long time and had very little custard. The crust was so hard you couldn't break it with a fork. Finally, portions are small for the price you are paying.

Yelp
Driving down 81 passing through and found this place on Yelp. Not a bad drive off the highway at all and wow... so worth it! Cocktails were amazing. Food was amazing. I ordered things I normally would not have an was so pleased. Very friendly and efficient staff. I was lost on some of the menu items and they talked me through options and it was a hit. Cute atmosphere and amazing cocktail/bourbon selection. I ate the pesto spaghetti squash and I so wish I could make this at home. For a gluten free vegetarian dish it was filling! Looking forward to having the leftovers later :)

Sarah P.

Yelp
10/10! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great. If you want more of a quiet setting, request the downstairs seating.

Yelp
Tonight we went to Vault & Cellar for our date night. To say we were impressed would be a major understatement. Every single item we ordered was a 10/10. The cocktails that we ordered were The Golden Girl, an Old Fashion, and Bonnie & Clyde. The entrees we ordered were the vault burger and the wild boar sausage meal. We finished off with the bourbon apple crisp. We will be going back... hopefully very soon!

Tom L.

Yelp
Drinks were made well but over priced, food was average only and service was bad. Wait time was confusingly long. On parr with an Applebees

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place. I didn't really know what to expect coming here. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. It was cozy and we didn't feel rushed at all. We were there for probably 2+ hours. Our server was very nice and asked the chef questions we had about a couple menu items that she didn't know. Which was nice as some servers pretend they know the answers and when you get the food it's not what you were told and expected. They have an extensive bourbon menu and have some rare finds to try if you're into that sort of thing. Their cocktail menu is nice too. I had a Gin drink that was very good (I forgot the name) and my husband got the Boulevardier that was great and presented with a nice clear large square ice cube. Food was rustic and well done. We shared a few appetizers; biscuits, boiled peanuts, scotch eggs, and pork rillette, and all were very good. I got a bowl of Boar Pickle soup and it was amazing!! I like to try different things and I'm glad I ordered this! It wasn't 'weird' tasting at all.... It was savory and none of the ingredients overpowered another. I'd order a big bowl of that alone! It was on their nightly special menu, but I hope it become a staple to the regular menu, or at least for the winter months. The entrees we ordered were the Rabbit, shrimp and grits and the duck. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and no food was left behind. The portions are perfect. We left there satisfied without feeling full. The cooking style is simple but good. The flavors were well balanced In each dish. We will definitely return.

Yelp
We enjoyed Sunday brunch here. So glad we made the 45 minute drive to Middletown. The host and server were friendly and attentive. We had a hard time deciding what to choose for our entrees, there were so many good choices! Husband had the eggs benny with salmon and I had the venison steak and eggs. Everything was amazing! The bearnaise sauce was so perfect with the medium rare venison. He had a couple pours of whiskey, their list is as advertised - extensive and terrific. The Bloody Mary I had was delicious too as well as the gin cocktail special. We will definitely be back. The food was so good and I can't wait to try more menu options.

Yelp
Well we have been hearing a lot about this establishment on Facebook and decided to give it a try. My expectations were short lived however once we got there. We dressed up in casual attire because of the hype being spread on Facebook. Upon entering the first table we looked at had two men sitting there, one in short pants who was full of leg tattoos and the other one in blue swimming trunks, so obviously no dress code. For some reason I was expecting a cloth table setting and upholstered seating accommodations but the tables were pub style with hard wooded chairs. No problem though because it all appeared neat and clean. We were promptly greeted upon entering and the host took a few moments to speak with us. It was shortly thereafter that our waitress approached with a drink request. The menu is limited offering Appalachian type cuisine that you don't find in other places. They only present 5 or 6 entrees. We ordered what is called a snack and vegetables prior to the entrees being delivered. I had Appalachian egg rolls. It was really only 1 egg roll cut into quarters. Very good. $7.00. Vegetables were actually very expensive $17.00 for pesto and $11.00 for grilled cabbage. I would describe both as very different and good. I noticed that no one was being served bread so I asked. No bread service offered. I was told that they had corn bread and biscuits but we never got any. Never did find out if they were served complementary or if you had to order and pay for them? I had rabbit. It was presented on a bed of rice with carrots and greens on the side. The rabbit hind quarter was good but nothing special. I have eaten a lot of rabbit dishes over the years and I have enjoyed much better. This quarter appeared to maybe have been baked or roasted but had no seasoning, sauce nor any type of gravy with it. Although good it was just plain. For the price paid I expected a much more succulent preparation. The greens were cooked nicely however had no seasoning and were actually very bitter tasting. The carrots too were nothing special. I had anticipated small baby carrots perhaps prepared in butter, sugar, or something special but again they were just small shaved pieces of plain carrots that I suspect were simply boiled to a softer texture? They had a carrot taste but that was it. What can you say about rice? It was okay. $26.00 The others with me had shrimp and grits. I didn't pay much attention to their serving but I think there were either 2 or 3 shrimp on top of the blue corn grits. They both described the dish as good. Service was on point up until it started getting busy shortly after 7:00 PM. There was a noticeable difference then but still satisfactory. Dessert was ordered last with coffee. Very large cups of coffee, I think a cup was almost $5.00 and very strong. I know they get their coffee service from someplace in Berryville and don't make it themselves so if you like strong coffee this is it. The only thing was however they were out of decaf which we all wanted. We each had their Bread Pudding. $10.00 per serving. It was very good and I could have eaten about double what was served. They are specializing in Bourbon and have a reasonable selection to choose from. Here again however the alcohol was more expensive than you find at other places locally. These are more like Northern Virginia and DC prices. I finished with remitting $190.00 for service for three, and that didn't include any alcohol. Had we all three had cocktails, wine and after dinner drinks it would have easily been over $250.00 with gratuity. The only thing that really distracted from a relaxing visit was the damn music they started playing shortly after the place started filling up. I don't know what kind of music it was but it certainly was loud, so much so that you could barely hear the people talk at your own table. All in All it was a different experience and one that was worth having. The only thing I was disappointed in was that for the price I expected much more over the top food preparation, bread service and if any some soft music. Not certain I will be rushing back but I will be keeping an eye out for different food selections once they are on their feet longer. I heard a suggestion about Venison and Pheasant mentioned by someone I accidentally overheard talking.

Yelp
Omg this place is WONDERFUL. It is so special and the staff is so friendly you feel like you are at a dinner party. Oh! The food and drinks were spectacular. My husband had the Appalaskan cocktail that was delicious and I loved the Pretty Boy Floyd. The food was incredible. This is truly a special place with a welcoming staff who work hard and love what they do.

Yelp
Fantastic! Beautiful location has a charm that you don't get in most places. This place really makes you feel special with immediate service and hot and delicious food. 100% best bourbon selection anywhere! I didn't count how many they had but I went straight for the E.H. Taylor! The onion fritters and pork cubes were great! We ordered the verde sauce and it tasted almost like Hispanic chicharones. I ordered the burger and I loved the combination of fresh onions and apples with a sweet bbq sauce on top. I would defiantly recommend you drive here now and try!

Yelp
This place has it all, a great vibe, a unique set of food options to highlight the Appalachian region and a more than grateful staff. Would recommend to all coming to area.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Lovely old building with exposed brick and the vault now literally used as a cellar. The menu was a nice blend of familiar & adventurous. We had the pork chop & duck. Our dinner companions had the goat. We started the meal with boiled peanuts (we had never tried them before and loved them!) and the egg roll (excellent mustard sauce) and finished with their homemade biscuits & shaved Brussel sprout salad (our order got a little mixed up, but glad we saved room). Everything was delicious. We capped off the evening by sharing a bourbon flight (a rare find of antique bourbon) and their pecan pie. An exquisite evening! We will be back when we're in the area and we will recommend this place to family & friends!

Yelp
Excellent brunch. Our server was personable and knowledgeable about the menu. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. The old bank vault next to our seats added to our enjoyment of the brunch as we took a break from touring Civil War historical sites. I wish we lived closer to visit more frequently.

Yelp
My husband and I had an EXCELLENT meal Saturday night. We had the Appalachian egg rolls, watermelon salad, shrimp and grits, and duck. We also had the pecan pie. Everything we ate was delicious, the space is beautifully decorated and the staff is incredible. We plan to be back soon and have recommended it to all our friends.

Yelp
This is such a cute place! Definitely recommend. My husband enjoyed the old fashioned and the pork chop for dinner. We had the burrata appetizer and loved it! It comes with toasted bread on the side. I had the duck for my meal and it was amazing! Loved the corn cakes and asparagus that came with it. I had the paper plane and steel magnolias cocktails and enjoyed both. Overall good atmosphere, we ate well and will be back soon!!

Yelp
Just wow. Who would expect this place in little ol' Middletown?! Drink- sangria special, great. App- black walnut pesto mozzarella. Did not expect to like it as much as I did. I would have loved to have just had the pesto by the spoon fulls. Meal- savory waffles. You can taste the homemade fresh in the béarnaise. Desert- apple crisp. No "crisp" but warm and apples were baked perfect. Can't wait to go back.
