Velvet Lounge

For a fun time on a Friday or Saturday night the Velvet Lounge is a great place. The staff here is awesome and most can sing very well. The best is just listening and watching people do karaoke. Advice here is get there early to get a seat or reserve or a table. It gets packed.

I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Rachel at the Velvet Lounge, and let me just say — she was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we walked in, her friendly and bubbly personality lit up the room. She was incredibly attentive, charismatic, and made us feel right at home with her warm energy and genuine care. But the real surprise? She had a stunning singing voice that completely blew us away! We weren’t expecting a performance, but when she sang, the whole place paused — it was THAT good. And to top it all off, she spells her name just like mine — such a fun coincidence! It was truly a privilege to be looked after by someone so passionate and full of life. Rachel turned a regular night out into a special memory. Thank you for making our evening so wonderful!

Every time we visit Fredericksburg, The Velvet Lounge is a must! The energy, the vibes, the karaoke—everything is top notch. The staff is always so fun and welcoming, and DJ Ray-chill keeps the party going all night long. If you’re looking for a place to let loose, sing your heart out, and make unforgettable memories, this is it!

I love the atmosphere of the Velvet Lounge. We go every time we are visiting. Must try the Vette Vodka drinks, they are absolutely fantastic! The new kitchen dishes the best pizza around. Must try the Gypsy pizza !

Very enjoyable atmosphere. Good price drinks, they also offer a military discount. Good pizza. Loved it, will be back in the future.

My sister was having her bachelorette, we tried to go there as our first pit stop and they said they didn’t have space , then it changed to we were too drunk to go in.. we were 100% sober. Then we tried later on in the night, and they called the cops on us saying we were trespassing, even though we were on the sidewalk. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE WITH ANY PARTY OVER 5. listen to the reviews!! The bouncer was overly disrespectful, then the owner came out, pointed her fingers in our faces and stated she was calling the cops? The cops were fully on our side. i’ve never experienced a manager be more disrespectful and awful to people who are just trying to give her business. The “reasons” kept changing over and over. According to the reviews, they hate bachelorette parties. 0% recommend, will not be going back. Owner and bouncers were the most ignorant people i’ve ever met.

I think all the negative reviews are hilarious! Of course the people who are drunk, acting a fool, being denied service & kicked out are going to be upset & write some bs about it because they didn’t get their way. This place is at max capacity almost nightly! The number 1 place in town & recommended by all the locals including the local businesses .Let that be your deciding facto, not some adults throwing fits because their bad behavior wasn’t accepted! This place is under new management ,has always been fun, service is excellent & a line out the door for a reason.

I am extremely disappointed that I am having to write this review, I never write bad reviews. We came here to celebrate a friends birthday and we had a friend get kicked out so we all decided to leave. I ask if I could go get my friends phone because she left it on our table and the OWNER of the bar was absolutely disgusting to me. I have never experienced such vial behavior from a “business owner”. She cussed us out, calling us names, and called the cops (completely unwarranted we were already leaving). I cannot believe how disgusting this establishment is. 0/10 recommend. Avoid at all cost. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Pulled up to this spot with my man expecting small-town side-eye... NOPE. These folks understood the assignment. They welcomed us like we were the headliners at Pride brunch. We were buying people drinks left and right like we were in a music video. And let me tell you -- these drinks weren't giving "questionable well liquor," they were giving "I know what flavor is." That espresso martini with Lalo tequila?? BABYYYYY, I need that recipe. Bartender even hit us with a custom pineapple tequila shot li-- and it didn't taste like regret, which is rare. 10/10 would recommend. If I could give this place a 0/5 I would. Myself and a group of friends visited this place on a Saturday afternoon, two of my friends (a couple) were dancing together and were kicked out for "being too drunk", which we were not by any means. The four of us were sat outside of the bar trying to figure out where to go next and one of the employees came outside and started yelling at us saying that we were trespassing and called the police on us. So aggressive and bizarre. I would stay away at all cost. The staff are clearly on a power trip.

This was such a fun night! Great staff, lots of fun talking with people, great food and fabulous music. You must stop by if your in town! There is a large bar, lots of room with tables, and cute clothes... I bought one of their karaoke shirts.

I'm not a fan of karaoke. I'm also not a fan of $40 for 2 drinks- and I still had to tip. We finished the lackluster drinks quickly and left. This is your place for rowdy drunk overpriced bad singing. Meh.

Anytime we come to Velvet Lounge we always have the best experience! The staff keeps everyone safe and the music is always sure to get you singing your heart out. Rachel is the best server hands down and she keeps your drink memorized so when you come back, she'll know your order. Thats really hard to do with such a large crowd so I am impressed! They recently added food next door and when I tell you the margarita pizza is so good, I mean it. If you are looking for good vibes, fun music, and a SAFE atmosphere with top staff, velvet is your vibe! Also did I mention they stay open late??!!

Drinks were fine! You had all the standard options. Just keep in mind it is a long wait to sing for karaoke. If you pay a little extra, you can go up first. Seating is limited and a lot of bachelorettes book tables. It's a fun time! It's one of two places open at night.

My friends and I had high hopes for this place, but our experience was nothing short of disappointing. Despite being completely sober and respectful, we were denied entry -- allegedly because one person in our group "appeared too intoxicated." This judgment was not only inaccurate, but delivered with zero professionalism or effort to assess the situation fairly. It's incredibly frustrating to be treated with such disregard, especially when we were excited to support the local establishment and enjoy a night out responsibly. No one in our group had been drinking prior, and the assumption made about us without any conversation or reasonable cause felt lazy and unfair. Mistakes happen, but the way they're handled is everything. A bit of courtesy and discernment would've gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste, and we won't be returning. I hope management takes a serious look at how their staff exercises judgment -- because tonight, they got it very wrong.

This place was a blast! I'm actually shocked by the negative reviews. Everyone was kind and helpful! You can expect to pay Fredericksburg prices in Fredericksburg so while the drinks could be considered high, we weren't caught off guard by that. The karaoke was fun and we had no problems finding a place to sit. The bartenders moved quickly and we didn't have to wait long. The only downfall was the bathroom set up. As a bar serving alcohol, it would have been helpful to have a bigger bathroom set up for that once you break the seal vibe ;-) great place! We had a blast!

Terrible management. Came here for a bachelorette and got turned away because "our eyes were glossy" and we were "too drunk" but we were ALL sober. This was our first stop of the night. 0/10. The whole situation was poorly handled. Never coming back.

We peeked in while walking by but it wasn't open yet. As we went on down the street, they stepped out to say "come on in". They were about to open and would let us in early. Not only did they let us in, but brought us some popcorn. All of the staff was fun to chat with and the karaoke was fun. Definitely a great place to check out.

Came for a bachelorette party, and one of our friends got called MULTIPLE obscenities by the karaoke MC (self-absorbed blonde lady) for asking the simple question of "what spot are we in line for karaoke". Do not go here! Terrible people, I hope it goes out of business ASAP.

The woman who was the karaoke MC was so very rude to me and my bridal Party. I had heard nothing but great reviews of velvet lounge, so of course I had to try it out for my bachelorette trip. My maid of honor (also my little sister) was very mistreated by the karaoke MC whenever she asked what number in line she was, after tipping her money. Whenever I went up there to talk to her, she also treated me very rudely. I definitely do not recommend coming here for karaoke if that is what you are looking for.

I have been to Velvet lounge twice and both were a bad experience unfortunately. Now this is MY experience based on my expectations going into a karaoke BAR that's open past 90% of the bars on Main Street. I was expecting lively, fun, let loose environment. The first time my friend was asked by management to pull her skirt down - it was a tennis dress with shorts underneath, nothing was showing. And we were not allowed to use our bubble gun inside, they confiscated it at the door. Not a big deal but it was odd we had no issues with it all day and the only place who not only told us don't use that but took it away was the karaoke bar - where I'd assume it would be most welcome. The second time a friend tripped on the ramp coming in the door and was not allowed service - they called the GM to talk to her infront of everyone waiting at the door and tell her she was too drunk and one of her group would have to baby sit her and she would be allowed water and food only. I understand not serving people who are too drunk (which she wasn't) but I did think it was handled poorly and made my friend feel humiliated. We left shortly after that.

All of the bad reviews are people that showed up late and didn't prepare for a place this cool and popular. Please ignore them all. Come here early or plan ahead and be prepared to have fun. Ignore all the bad review is Debbie downers. Great place and service. Everyone here is super nice. Show up early or you will be waiting outside in a line. The fresh pork rines are amazing. What more could you want but great drinks and live music entertainment from a bunch of over served bachelorette parties. Pure innocent and fun enjoyment. 100% recommend.

We were here on a Sunday afternoon and had a blast. It was a great mix of people both local and out of town customers and we so enjoyed it. The DJ was super nice. My only negative was the waitress seemed angry the whole time.

I was here on a Thursday night where they were doing karaoke and it was such a fun, silly crowd! Best energy on Main St for a weekday. They deserve more stars...not sure why all the low ratings.

This is such a cool little bar and karaoke spot. So many talented singers here and the young lady that did the "Before He Cheats" nailed it. It was busyish when we were there and ordering drinks proved best by going to the bar. The drinks were really done well BUT I got a $180 bar tab for 4 drinks. I've gotta call back to get the prices and make sure I didn't buy the bridal parties drinks. Reservations for tables are needed for groups so check with the hostess.

The best place to go if you wanna hve fun in Fredericksburg! Karaoke 7 days a week great service great drinks and great food ! The staff is so friendly ! My got to karaoke bar in the hill country !

For what it is--A Karaoke bar, its a great time! We got in before there was a line! They allow you to sit at the tables that are reserved, just need to get up 10min before the reserved time! I'd say the music is mostly country, with a little bit of pop! Fun time especially for the little town of Fredericksburg!

Absolutely ridiculous customer service by the manager, "Big Man", as he likes to call himself. My friends and I came all the way to Fredericksburg and had dinner and drinks, looking forward to going to Velvet Lounge. My friends and I had maybe 2 drinks max, and were denied service at the front because my friend had "stumbled" while in line, and her eyes were "too red." While talking to the manager, my friends and I saw MULTIPLE people (half the bar) intoxicated inside and were told my friend was a hazard and a liability which was absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Go to "The Hive" right next door, super fun and chill bar. They had absolutely no issues with having us there (:

Would have been fun if miss road hard and put up wet at the door wasn't so rude. We were accused of just wanting to use the restroom even though we were trying to have a cocktail after the parade. She said she had to charge cover, even if we wanted to use the restroom. Again we stated we wanted a drink, she said we could order to go. It was literally the most racist, worst experience I've ever dealt with in Fredericksburg. We left as we were not treated with respect. The look on her face cause we wouldn't acquiesce to her demands And mind you we are 50+ Hispanic men with money. Just abhorrent. Will never be back to that racist establishment. Terrible, just terrible. Feliz Navidad!

Be prepared for $17 bland ranch waters. Very pricey for what you get and not in cocktail glasses.

Excellent sound system, but very busy. Wait time is probably over an hour, but worth it if you want a chance to work those chops! The drinks are good and alcohol and song selections are plentiful. Lots of woo-woo girls, but everything in its right place. Seating is at a premium so reserve if you can. Service is prompt and lots of talented regulars.

Had the best time ever! Walked by on a Thursday night around 5 and nobody was there so we went bar hopping and came back around 7 and they had a decent crowd. Staff was absolutely fantastic and joining in on the fun and karaoke. This has become a must next time we're here. Definitely recommend, and drinks were really good!

Truly a high end place! They hold a high standard and quality business! It is a wonderful place to have a great time and have so much fun! Their karaoke team is great, inclusive and very supportive. A++ They are worth the wait ! Enjoy!

Fun place to watch karaoke! It was a blast! Lots of different age groups and songs.

Absolutely horrible experience. Came here for my 22nd birthday with friends who made a long drive to accompany us. Obviously this is a kareoke bar but the general manager had the dj lower our microphones because we could not sing to her standards. This is not a true kareoke bar. The general manager was rude, racist, and made us feel inferior when we went in there and spent over $200. Even multiple servers had to apologize for her unprofessional and unwelcoming service.

Fred and Rachel are cool as hell. Fred has the whiskey knowledge that goes for days, and Rachel brings the pipes. Love this place.

I wish I could right a good review because this was my 4th time at this bar and all prior experiences were good. No reservation came walked in & stood by bar! After 2 hours there a small table opened up so we moved to table and got a server, she served us 1 round then a round of water as our group took turns singing. The server came up to table saying we were having too much fun & stated she was not able to serve us anymore. After 1 round? We were just hanging out & left after she told out told that. Had 2 more songs to go for our group & half of group was drinking water but Mather they wanted our table so cut us off. 1 round served yall, like uh ok??

I was visiting with my sister in law, cousin and aunt. Lady working the door as the bouncer started questioning my cousin about her physical state. We were all sober but very cold from waiting outside, but lady working the door was extremely rude and making accusations my cousin was drunk and she wouldn't let her i . We have been here before and had fun but I will never come back because of how rude and mean lady working the front door was to us. Not worth our time or money

My friend said they would never go back there because the girl working there is racist if you know how to speak any Spanish they wanna kick you out and they want you to have measles. Do not go here at all cost. I promise you if you're down with the sickness, they don't even know what you're talking about and they only want to play Things like Luke Bryan and Shania Twain. If you even think about playing something like I write sins, not tragedies the girl who's running karaoke is going to act like you played an all Spanish song because she has no cultural meaning in her life other than the mayonnaise she eats every day.

This place is amazing i broke my 2 inch heel and the manager did everything to help me fix the problem THEY ARE AMAZING!!! they really care about you. Amazing service everyone was so welcoming

We came here for a bachelorette bar crawl and the crowd was odd. A mix of young people and people celebrating a 50th birthday, so the karaoke song choices were all over the place. Despite it being packed inside, the crowd was kind of quiet. The DJs even sang a few songs (very well) I think in attempt to get the crowd to be more lively. As for the drinks, holy moly are they extremely overpriced. We stopped at another bar earlier in the night and paid $37 for a round of two tequila sodas and four beers. However, at the velvet lounge you'd but lucky to pay that for three drinks. Not sure why they're so expensive, they aren't anything that special. Staff were a mix of nice and not so nice. Maybe they get annoyed with bachelorette groups or maybe they hate their lives, not sure. Like I said, the place was packed so there wasn't much seating room. There were two single stall bathrooms and there was always a line for them. They were clean enough but they need more or people need to stop spending 10 minutes in there. Overall, this place is overpriced and the vibes are weird. Locals were really hyping this place up and maybe for small town Texas this place is the place to be, but not for us. There was a cover charge of $10 on top of the expensive drinks, but they at least took cash or card. Maybe we just had a weird crowd and need to go back when it's a bit more wild.

We love going here but I wish the manager or whoever the guy was at the door would act a little happy about people coming in to their bar. I hadn't gotten 2 steps inside and the guy looked furious snd goes "THERES A 10.00 COVER" he was so grumpy. I know there's a cover and was reaching for my wallet and wasn't even past the front desk. The girl working last night was very cool. How about "how y'all doing tonight - that will be 10.00"

Worst karaoke I've ever been too never got to sing because I didn't pay enough one star is generous

One of the best nights out!! Super fun atmosphere! We went there for my niece's 21st birthday & stayed for hours singing & dancing & closed the place down. No drama & a nice crowd. The drinks were good too, the pineapple upside down cake shot is wonderful! It gets crowded late (10ish) so get there early if you want a table.

We had a reservation here during a bachelorette trip and paid about $300 in advance for a reservation here and still had to wait a few minutes for a table with not even enough chairs. We also put our name down immediately when we got there for one song. Two hours later when we were still not called, I asked when we would be able to sing. The blonde lady in charge of the karaoke kept saying "sorry people are paying to go and the bigger the tip the greater the skip" so we never got to sing. We were not going to pay more after already spending 300$+ on that reservation. The karaoke lady also randomly spent 4 minutes on stage herself singing a song. Disappointed overall in our experience here.

Was greeted my an extremely rude manager in the front who didn't let my friend in because they didn't feel safe with them in the bar. Their reasoning was because my friend's eyes were red.... Which they weren't. There were multiple people inside the bar, drunk, stumbling, and having a great time but my friends "eyes" were the issue? Absolutely ridiculous customer service.

The short guy letting people in was very disrespectful. He denied us going in because he said my friend's eyes were red and that he didn't feel safe. We waited in line 20 minutes prior to that and watched drunk people stumble in. The man was very rude and treated us poorly.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The manager here was very rude. We came to celebrate my nieces 21th birthday this weekend and we got the brooks bubble bus and this place was the second stop. As soon as we got there the manager was rude and not welcoming. Not even an half in hour we got kick out because someone in our group was intoxicated. When all of us were find, I will not be going back to this bar. And will gladly tell people not to go as well.

Horrible place! Completely harassed by the same "manager" or "bouncer" . Kept wanting to come over and recommend other places for us to go. Kept seeing MULTIPLE patrons coming up to her and having arguments and very unhappy with the way they were treated. Very strange vibe! Didn't seem like anyone was having much fun.

We love this place and they have some pretty amazing singers around town that drops in.

My friends and I stopped here after a wine tour for my 39th birthday. The owner or manager, Christine honed in on us from the start asking us questions about what we did for work, writing down places that we could go to ..at first we thought man she is awesome. She even walked us next-door to the karaoke spot. We got a table and were having a great time. Things took a turn when they said we were ordering too many shots and they were refusing to serve us anymore . Then once we got our tab it was over $500. They claimed that we ordered a 30 shots! That would be illegal for them to even do that, that would be them overserving us! We didn't want to pay the tab without getting some answers. so they threatened to call the cops. My friend ended up getting into a minor altercation with the door girl because it escalated very quickly and she was trying to figure out why she was being charged for all these drinks that we did not take. The cops were called and my friend was arrested. It was a horrible experience a horrible night ..the staff is extremely weird. They're not from Texas. They are from Vegas. This place left a horrible taste in my mouth for Fredericksburg. It really made me never wanna return. Until I looked up the reviews and saw that even the locals there don't think that this place is so great. This place needs to be shut down. It's horrible how they treat people. I can't even believe that we were in that type of situation. I have never been put in a situation like that. We were just trying to understand why they were charging us for 30 shots! We are a group of three women. I will never return to this place and I really hope that this place goes out of business. Please look at the reviews. Do not go here. Do not give them your business!!!! Weird, crooked people!

I wanted to make a reservation for 25 people for tomorrow, 4/20/2024. Called and the young man told me all reservations were done online at their website. Every time I go to their homepage it locks up. Browser doesn't matter. But before it does I see that there is NO reservation link nor even contact info. Just hours of operation. captaincurt77j@gmail. If someone cares to help me with this issue. It sounds fun. Just need to figure out how to reserve space.

Could not be more disappointed. We were in from out of town and met some of our local family here. Signed up to sing and was bypassed three rounds. Been to many karaoke bars and this is by far the worst experience. Paid for the overpriced drinks and patiently waited. Politely checked with DJ twice... apparently if you aren't one of her favorites, your name will never be called. Do not recommend... (the first time in my life I have taken time to write a review on any business so it must have been bad)
