"These are not your abuela’s tacos. There’s a spicy tikka chicken taco with a spicy tikka sauce and Thai Basil. Then there’s the chicken and waffle, served in a waffle shell and topped with peppercorn gravy and green apple. For a fun kick on the classic taco, you have options, people." - Jesse Scott

"Velvet Taco, a Dallas-based taco chain known for its creative tacos, opened its first Florida location in Fort Lauderdale on September 13. The restaurant offers an eclectic menu featuring dishes like chicken and waffles tacos, a Cuban taco with pulled pork, and breakfast options such as the Velvet Griddle. They also provide sides like elote and nachos, red velvet cake, and a full bar. The chain, which started in Dallas in 2011, has expanded to 40 locations in seven states and plans to open a second Florida location in Wynwood in early 2024." - Erin Russell

Velvet Taco – Downtown Fort Lauderdale – 5 Stars This was my first time at Velvet Taco and I’m officially hooked! I ordered the seasonal veggie bowl and added crispy tofu — it completely exceeded my expectations. Everything was super fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The tofu had that ideal crunch, and the whole bowl was packed with bold, satisfying flavors. You can tell they put real care into every ingredient. The presentation was beautiful, and the portion size was more than generous. It’s rare to find a spot that nails veggie-based dishes like this — I’ll absolutely be back (many times!). Highly recommend to anyone looking for something delicious, unique, and satisfying. New favorite spot in Fort Lauderdale, no question! The frozen margarita is amazing too!

Google
Delicious and innovative tacos, I’ve liked every taco from here so far. My favorite is the Nashville hot tofu and fried paneer cheese. There is also a nice outdoor seating area. My only suggestion would be to make the red velvet cake more moist.

Every taco was bursting with bold, creative flavors, and the ingredients tasted super fresh. The vibe was lively and fun, perfect for a casual evening out. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

The tacos here were all fun and interesting and unique! I tried the chicken tikka, a shrimp Cali and a chimichurri steak one. Full of flavor and slightly larger than your average street taco! Servers were helpful and casual location.

From Chicago to FTL I love that velvet taco was right in front of my building. It was the cherry on the top. The food is amazing and the service is even better from Kathy and Christina’s amazing attitudes and energy! Come eat here you won’t regret it!

Google
Great laid back place in area where a lot of people are dressed to impress. The owners managers came out to sway hello and staff helped some people in our group who had never been to a Velvet Taco. Interior is hip and industrial and laid back. The variety is just enough items to choose from without too many to confuse. 10 people with us and it was unanimous : delicious tacos, great brisket nachos, great food!

This is my 2nd visit to Velvet Taco, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the incredibly friendly staff. The menu offers a diverse selection of tacos at an affordable price, making it easy to find something for everyone. I was impressed with the quality and taste of the food. Each taco was packed with fresh ingredients, and bursting with flavor and margaritas are great. The portions were just right but definitely satisfying. I felt like I had great value for my money, which isn’t always the case at trendy taco spots. The combo is an added bonus, offering delicious options at a great price. The atmosphere is a great place to hang out with friends. Overall, Velvet Taco is a must-visit for anyone looking for tasty, well-priced tacos in a friendly, relaxed setting. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Google
This restaurant chain never fails to impress! I first discovered it in Texas and was thrilled to find that the quality remains just as exceptional. On this visit, we ordered the elote and chips to start, followed by double orders of the quesa birria duo, fish and chips, and chicken and waffles. Every dish was flavorful and well-executed, offering a unique take on tacos with Western-style cuisine to make a modern twist. Beyond the food, the vibrant and upbeat atmosphere enhances the experience, making it a great spot to unwind. The location right by the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk is the cherry on top—perfect for a scenic meal with a lively ambiance. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Tacos are outstanding and the people friendly (Fort Lauderdale location) Absolutely delicious! Hurry up and open one close to me!

Yelp
great food and great ambiance. I loved the service and everyone had a smile. thank you all for the food it was amazing

Yelp
Velvet taco is not your authentic taco spot. It is a blend of different cultures. Every taco is very uniquely good but my favorites are the chicken tikka taco and the Nashville hot taco. One of the most underrated foods here is the elote and chips - you need to get this. Make sure you also try the sauces (especially the heat sauce) if you like some more flavor. The food here is very unique for a taco hut I absolutely love it!!!! Service at velvet taco is pretty quick but it is your normal fast casual dining restaurant. The place is relatively clean and in a great location - right near all the bars!! One of my favorite late night food spots!

Nola F.

Yelp
These are some of the most unique tacos I have ever tried. My favorite was the Buffalo chicken taco. The fish n chips one was ok. The beer battered cauliflower had a really nice flavor. The shells are so fresh. Plus if you prefer lettuce, you can choose that for your shell. My margarita was very good. It was very well balanced. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. Parking is tough but it is worth it to eat here. This was my second time here. I forgot to write a review last time. All of their tacos are ones I have never seen in my life. This is a great place for tacos.

Yelp
It's Taco Time! I love a good taco, and Velvet Taco is delivering on all fronts with their sensational and delicious offerings. I tried the chicken and waffle taco and the Kobe smash burger, and both were exceptional! I wish I had another stomach so I could eat more tacos #BigBackSeason. The service was excellent and very efficient; best of all, your order doesn't take long to come out. As for the ambiance, there's plenty of seating for both small and large groups, and the decor is definitely reminiscent of taco heaven. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Nafeeza A.

Yelp
Such a great approach to tacos. We were so amazed about how many different kinds they had and every one we tried were delicious! Definitely would not called this traditional tacos because this is far from that in the best way possible. Employees were very nice and plenty of places to sit. I do love that you can order at the counter and sit down. Just unique and interesting tacos, love how they do explain the taco description underneath.

Yelp
Stopped in around 4pm on a Thursday. Saw a sign for happy hour and couldn't resist a margarita and tacos. Service: super friendly staff! They poured the queso right away and dropped it off to my table. It took maybe 6 minutes for my tacos to come out. Again they dropped it off to my table. No numbering system to find you at a table was needed. Tacos: the star of the show here. When I'm looking for tacos, THIS is what I'm looking for. Not the wimpy street tacos with no fillings that leave you empty. These tacos are filled to the max with proteins, toppings, and great flavors. Each taco has a different set of toppings to really bring out the style of what was ordered. The margarita was solid- it's premixed so they just pour and hand it over. I got one of the specialty quesos which was a red curry style - it really did taste like the flavors you'd have in a curry! Good amount of chips. (Also a plus is I had extra queso to take home and they offered another bag of chips to take home too) Ambiance: lots of seating indoors, it's comfortable and spread out so you don't feel like you're sitting too close to people. There are also outdoor tables. They also have wifi.

Yelp
BEST FREAKING TACOS EVER! They have tacos for everyone. Whether you eat meat or are vegan! I tried the best of both words, a tofu taco and a steak taco, they were amazing! The inside is darkly lit in a cool way. The service was great, they don't just take an order and move on to the next guest. They make you laugh and are very interactive. They call your name over a speaker when your food is ready, and they play great music! The guacamole was alright, but the tacos were the best!

Jasmine P.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch with my husband and son before heading to the MODS. It's right across from the bus stop. If you take the bus, very convenient. Loved the brisket nachos. Brisket was so soft. The sweet chili shrimp taco and biria were alright. Didn't think the shrimp taco had much flavor and too much carrots to taste the shrimp. The biria was good but dried out fast. The spicy tika was juicy and flavorful. It was one of my favorites. But I think my favorite was the grilled steak. It has steak and mushrooms. So simple and so good. We also had a margarita which was also delicious and strong enough! Service was fast. The cashier was informative and very pleasant. The ambience is a trendy casual vibe.

Yelp
Velvet Taco was an amazing experience! They had so many creative vegetarian taco options that I couldn't choose! I asked which two they recommended, and they suggested the paneer taco and the beer battered cauliflower - and both were fantastic! We also tried the elote guacamole, which was so good. The tacos had a lot of sauce and great fillings. The service was also great. You order your food at the counter, and they call out your name and "it's taco time!" when it's ready for you to get it. They came by to check on us a few times, and they even provided some free nachos on the house! We were very appreciative. I would come here again in a heartbeat! The location was great, as well, and we went on a walk along the water afterwards. I hope they open a location closer to us in Miami!

Yelp
My only humble request... please open a location in Baltimore because these tacos are BANGIN. We were looking for a quick spot during our weekend day drinking exploring Fort Lauderdale when we decided to stop in for some tacos. Everyone who worked there was so friendly, and even helped us save some money by recommending we order from their happy hour menu! (Who has happy hour on Saturdays??? They do!!!) As someone who hates commitment (when it comes to making food decisions) I absolutely love a taco place where I can mix and match, which is why we ultimately chose Velvet Taco over some other Mexican spots in the nearby area. Y'all. These might not be the most "authentic" tacos, but the flavors were on pointtt. We ended up grabbing the dip trio (with guac, queso blanco, and elote) along with 4 tacos: the Buffalo chicken, Mexi-Cali shrimp, Korean fried rice, and slow-roasted angus brisket... and if I hadn't been totally stuffed I would have gone back to try a million more!!! Every single one was loaded with flavor and they have sooo many fun options, including fish, beef, pork, chicken, and veggies! There is truly something for everyone here and they killed it.

Claire S.

Yelp
Great, casual spot for delicious tacos and nachos. I'd highly recommend splitting the nachos to start--delicious and very filling! The chimichurri steak taco was great, but it was almost too spicy for me! The lobster special taco was heavy but delicious. We will definitely be back!

Laura M.

Yelp
My recent visit to velvet taco left me with mixed feelings. While the tacos were good, the experience fell short in some areas. As a vegan, I appreciated the option for dairy-free tacos, although it was a bit disappointing to have to request them without dairy products. However, it's worth noting that the tacos themselves were good once customized. V didn't stand for vegan here. Unfortunately, the confusion didn't end there. Upon arrival, people were standing at two registers not knowing which one was open. Once someone came to the register the people waiting in the other register ended having to be in the back of the line (since it was the wrong one). This lack of clarity led to an unnecessary wait, taking away from the overall experience. Additionally, the outside seating area was quite messy, which took away from the ambiance. Despite these drawbacks, the flavorful tacos offered a glimpse of the spot's potential. With some improvements they could elevate its dining experience and better cater to its customers. The walls did have cool artwork!

Christina D.

Yelp
Tried to order ahead on the website but it was slow and glitchy. The app is also very slow, so I ordered in-store. The music is cool and loud but quiets when the orders are called out. I ordered three tacos. The rotisserie chicken taco was yummy but wet. The Korean fried rice taco was outstanding and my favorite but was not on a lettuce wrap like I ordered. The fried chicken and waffle taco was also very good but a bit too salty. I love the variety of tacos and all the food is very fresh and homemade. The staff is friendly. I will definitely be returning, hopefully they will get their app and website working better by then.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Wow!! This place is so fun. I really like how they have a unique announcement for each person's meal when it is ready. I only got an announcement for the appetizers because the tacos took a very long time and I ended up asking about them because I thought they got lost in the shuffle. The guy said my order is next and five seconds later, I walked away with tacos. One thing I like besides the food is they have an area with cut lemons and limes. They happen to be very high quality and pretty large. I took some to liven up the guacamole. It was good on it's own but I love my citrus and it added a nice zing. The chips were fresh and the queso was good. It had some spice to it which was fine. If it had more, I probably would not have liked it nearly as much. We did some taco swapping. I ended up with the smashburger and the rotisserie chicken tacos. The smashburger one can feed an army! This one was so hefty that I almost think I did not need anything else. I did not even eat the whole thing. At most 3/4 and it was just huge. The rotisserie taco was good. Nothing spectacular but I liked it. The buffalo chicken taco was excellent. I only got a bite. Mom wasn't sharing that! Anyway, the grilled steak taco was really good. There are like 3 or 4 tacos I still have to try and I want the buffalo chicken one. Dilemmas. I guess I will have to keep coming back here.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place because the menu sounds so delicious. I love that they have multiple options that are vegetarian and pescatarian friendly, which is great. What they do well is come up with unique ideas of flavor combinations for tacos. I mean, a fried paneer taco, are you kidding me?? You don't see that everywhere. I also love that they have a weekly special taco to keep things unique and exciting. I personally ordered the Nashville Hot Tofu, the Beer-battered cauliflower, and the El Jeffe special tacos from last week (I thought it only had shrimp but sadly it had steak too, which I had to take out). Then I also ordered the red curry coconut queso and I tried a bite of my friends' fried paneer taco and grilled salmon taco. Sadly the only one I actually really, extremely enjoyed was the grilled salmon tacos. The rest are either very greasy or have a lot of cheese or dairy on them, making them feel very fatty. I liked that the tacos were a big size but I didn't like how much tortilla was present, so they also felt very carb-heavy. The dairy in general, mainly whatever cheese they used on some of the tacos and queso, tasted very cheap; it wasn't enjoyable and tasted like a melted plastic. It did take a while for the tacos to be ready, but that's to be expected because I went on May 5th and the place was packed. I will say their service was fast because they had multiple orders coming out every minute. The queso was ready 2 minutes after I ordered, however! Overall I was very excited but probably wouldn't come back; the food was only moderately good and there are other taco establishments that I prefer for fish tacos. Still worth a try or convenient for a very-late-nite bite.

Becky L.

Yelp
I was excited when I found out that there's a velvet taco in FL, especially since I loved it in Texas. I ordered the chicken and waffle taco, chili shrimp taco, and the chips+red curry queso online through the website for pick up. I made a free account which made the chips+red curry queso free, so definitely a plus. Chicken and waffle taco ($5.95): the sweet waffle taco shell was great with the chicken flavored with maple syrup. The sweet chili shrimp taco ($5.95) though was my favorite taco because you could really taste of the sweet chili sauce and the slight kick of the sriacha aioli. The star of the show was the red curry queso. The thai basil was strong and definitely made the queso super flavorful. Glad that creating the account motivated me to try it as a freebie this time--next time I'm back I would still order it. Parking is all via street parking unfortunately and the location is a personal drawback for me since parking was rather hard for me to find. Overall, the tacos were good but pretty pricey at ~$6 per taco. Online order and pick up was on-time.

Darcy D.

Yelp
The chicken and waffle taco is all you need to get. Holy moly. My friend and I came here for a late night snack. It was so good we came back for dinner the next day. We tried the tikka masala, paneer, salmon, thanksgiving dinner (limited time), and the chicken and waffle tacos. We also had the frozen margarita and the curry cheese. Everything was so good! The tacos are larger than most, so you really only need one. Everything we got was incredible, but I will be dreaming about that chicken and waffle taco until I return. The service was great. The food was delicious. The location is convenient. Just come here (and get the chicken and waffle taco).

Yelp
Velvet Taco @velvettaco Ft.Lauderdale, FL On the go but still hungry! Love the ambiance of the restaurant. It was so easy to place my to-go order on velvettaco.com! Yelp
Love this place. Great spin on tacos. If you're wanting tacos but not traditional Mexican this is the place. Never had a bad experience yet so I highly recommend. Service is always great. And I'm usually here late night so it's always a bit of a party so if you're looking for a fun place and good food this is for you.

Meri S.

Yelp
This is the best place for tacos in Fort Lauderdale. Nothing else comes even close. My favorites are the spicy chicken tikka and Korean fried rice. I like them so much, it's hard to get anything else. I've also tried the buffalo chicken and that one is really good too. If you haven't tried Velvet Taco, what are you waiting for??

Alexa R.

Yelp
Step into a taco haven that's both cute and casual. The space is large, spacious and bright. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. These aren't your typical tacos; the menu boasts unique flavor combinations like chicken and waffles, tikka masala and buffalo chicken. My favorites were the sweet chile shrimp & Korean fried rice. Overall, Velvet Taco is a must-visit spot for those seeking a twist on traditional taco fare.

Natalie S.

Yelp
This was my first time here. They have a good variety of tacos: vegetarian, four different chicken ones, beef and fish. They also have nachos with cheese guacamole and chips Etc. I had the brisket nachos which were very good and a little spicy. Didn't realize there were jalapenos in the nachos. If you want a alcoholic drink they have margaritas and beer. On the wall was a picture of Marie Antoinette eating red velvet cake. And the restaurant sells red velvet cake just like their name. I was too full to try it, next time.

Stefanie S.

Yelp
This is an unusual review for me, because I didn't actually go to this restaurant, but my school had it catered for lunch for our staff. I had a taco that was called something along the lines of "smashed burger." It was just so delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. I had some chips and guacamole with it, which was also very yummy. It was also neat how they packaged the tacos, each separated from the next. Usually our catered lunched are ok to good, but never this tasty. It makes me want to go and eat there!

Andrea O.

Yelp
Best tacos are the chimichurri tacos!! So. Much. Flavor. Great service, very polite and professional!

Venicia C.

Yelp
Fell in love with Velvet Taco when I tried it a few years back in Atlanta. Would be my first stop every time i visited, now it's in Fort Lauderdale ! Yay! The best thing you'll put in your mouth is the Spicy Chicken Tikka, that's my favorite hands down and will always be my first love. Quickly followed by the fish and chips and the chicken and waffle. Crispy tots with the egg yumm !!!!! Queso yummmmess! Elote yum as well !!! The margaritas are good too I usually get it swirled with the sangria with the grand mariner floater. Definitely would recommend. And please please please don't forget to get the red velvet cake ! Super moist and delicious as well. I was initially worried that the quality wouldn't be the same as the location in Atlanta but not only did they exceed my expectations but it's the customer service that's also top tier. Hospitality has really gone down throughout the years, it's hard to find good, genuine customer service. Although everyone I've encountered has been 10/10 with service I really want to highlight Jevon. He's been there the few times I've dined and his customer service is consistent every time. He takes pride in what he does and makes you feel like he wants you to be there. The hospitality really took the whole experience to a higher level ! Welcome to your new home Velvet Taco

Micaela W.

Yelp
Oh boy am I happy to have a velvet taco in FL!! Walking distance to Broward Center so makes a great lunch before a show. I got chicken tikka, fried paneer, and Mediterranean mushroom. My only complaint is that there are like 20 more tacos I want to try but that just means I'll be back for more! Everything is so delicious and so many amazing flavors to try. Oh and how could I forget I also had the red curry coconut queso.

Carol K.

Yelp
New restaurant alert! Velvet Taco opens Sept 13th, in downtown Fort Lauderdale at the corner of Andrews Ave and Las Olas Blvd. They are open for breakfast (8am according to the mgr)lunch and dinner (breakfast tacos served all day) This Texas based chain has a casual vibe with a counter order taking and pick up process. I went for the soft opening so I can't talk to service as there had to be at least 20 people working behind the counter taking orders and prepping food, and at least 4 managers in the dining room touching tables and interacting with guests. It clearly won't be set up for this level of labor in the future but for the soft opening it was going very smoothly. The menu is posted on the wall on the left so please know what you want before heading to the counter as the slow down to order wasn't the staff, but the customers asking questions that could have been answered by reading the wall.‍ As you'll see by the menu I've posted- the tacos all have numbers so you can easily order a #16 (fish n chips taco)or a #12 (angus taco) The tacos are large and range in price from $4.75 to $6.50 and the ones we sampled were great! My favs were the Angus taco and the Mexi-Cali shrimp taco. The brisket nachos were also outstanding! We also had 2 margaritas, one frozen and one not, just to sample them.(they were very good just a little sweeter than my preference. Plenty of indoor seating, but there's also outdoor seating out front that runs the length of the building. Or order on line and your tacos will be waiting for you. Two margaritas, one with a shot on top, four tacos and an order of brisket nachos woukd have come to about $58, but given this was the soft opening it was comped as training for their staff. All in all- love new additions to my neighborhood. And given they're open til midnight on the weekends, I'm pretty sure it will be busy late night given the amount of bars, etc in that area!

Daniel R.

Yelp
When I saw the menu for this palce I knew that I was in for a potential treat...and it didn't fail people. Normally vegetarians are subjected to the typical vegetable and bean tacos for dinner. At this place I got paneer, cauliflower and tofu and so much more. A word of warning: these are skimpy tacos...2 should fill you up...three which is what I got for a moderate eater might be pushing limits. Compared to other places, the prices felt like a bargain compared to the taco contents and size. Even the sides looked like a bargain and they are equally as exotic. I wanted to try the curry queso but they would have had to roll me out. If you are over 40 (like I am) the music level may be an issue and it seems to cater to a much younger crowd, but don't let that stop you...this place has it going on. There is another location in Miami. Because of the location, only street parking and garage parking is your only option. Open real late. When you pick-up your order your name will be called and the now semi famous "it's Taco Time" will be announced. They serve alcohol...I can only imagine what goes on here as the alcohol and late night start mixing together. Find out....

Jessica l.

Yelp
THE BEST TACOS AND CHIPS& QUESO EVER! I loved the different spin of flavors. Also the hours on Fridays & Saturdays they stay open until 4am this is amazing because after partying on Las Olas you need velvet taco! The service is amazing, staff is very attentive the place looks clean and welcoming! The staff is doing an amazing job, everyone looks happy to be there, service is smooth and fast! I love forward to visiting Fort Lauderdale location again!

Neeketa S.

Yelp
**Vegetarian Friendly** I was SO surprised and excited to see Velvet Taco open in downtown Fort Lauderdale! If you've been to Dallas or Chicago, you know late night tacos are a must. These are tacos that you can eat anytime of day, and perfect for a quick bite to eat...or even leisurely linger around the outdoor patio. We LOVE that there is a seperate vegetarian menu, and that majority of the other tacos can be substituted to be made vegetarian. Our favorites are Paneer and Beer Battered Cauliflower...but you truly cannot go wrong with any taco! Definitely on the rotation list of restaurants! We will be back! PS: If you're a true vegetarian, the Red Curry Coconut Queso has shellfish in it!

Quayneshia S.

Yelp
Finally ! A taco spot downtown that lives up to the hype! Packed , flavorful and great portions. They are spinning the ideas of tacos and actually meeting the mark. The tikki blew my mind for how flavorful it was and even adding the jasmine rice I thought I was eating chicken Marsala! The picnic chicken was a great and I didn't have any expectations and it all came together so well. All in all so happy velvet taco has moved to the area! Finally I can get good price, tasty tacos with great portions. Excited to come back.

Ric F.

Yelp
Really cool taco place - In fact my wife and I were sitting in a restaurant earlier and the service was so slow we both found this place and walked there - best tacos we have had in a long time! If your in the mood for over 10 different amazing taco combinations with a hip and laid back vibe, this is the place to go. When your tacos are ready you will hear "your name, ITS TACO TIME!" Make sure to get some of their drink specials as well, the sangria is very good! Overall, I think the price point is a little high but you are paying for quailing tacos!

Angie S.

Yelp
Great new addition to downtown Ft. Lauderdale. They are within walking distance to my office so I'm here a lot. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. They have very unique taco combinations you won't find anywhere else. So far my favorite tacos are the picnic chicken, chimichurri steak and mojo pork. The queso blanco and brisket nachos are also very good. They offer a weekly taco feature (WTF) so there is always something new to try. Don't forget to join the rewards program for free stuff.

Stuart S.

Yelp
No stranger to this establishment as I have enjoyed their food in Texas for years. Velvet tacos is not your mama's taco. With weekly specials the assortment is almost endless. We venture with friends and enjoyed the Kobe Smash taco, Flank steak taco, Sweet Chile Taco and the Rotisserie Chicken Taco. The portions are fully loaded and satisfying. Everything is made fresh so you might have to wait for your order. Typically, the Velvet Taco is bare bones decorations with high tops and low tables for dining in. Each table is complete with a roll of paper towels. The store is right off the New River but after a nice stroll, Velvet Taco is a great place to finish your day.

Christian S.

Yelp
Katiana was AMAZING with all of her recommendations... the elote corn is a must have. The chicken tikka was fire ! The sweet chili shrimp is to die for or live for... Will definitely be back! Let me tell you about that grand margarita that Elijah made, nope You just have to try it for yourself!!!

Monique Y.

Yelp
Had lunch here! Parking can be a bit hectic but there's a garage near by. Service was okay. Took forever to get our order but the food made up for it! Everything is made fresh. Our tacos were hot and full of flavor. I had the sweet Thai shrimp taco and Korean rice taco! They were packed with meat and condiments! The shrimp was crispy and the toppings were pickled but still had a crunch. The rice on the Korean taco was tasty and well seasoned. The pork was nice and tender. I'll definitely go here again. Plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Bathrooms need to be monitored a bit more. Definitely gets packed with lunch hour rush so come early or phone ahead! There's plenty of other tacos I want to try so I'll be back! I thought the tacos were a bit expensive but once received I was pleasantly impressed with the taste and portions.

Yelp
I actually went to the spot several years ago in Georgia and now Velvet Taco has finally come to Florida! They have beautiful frozen drinks drinks like the sangria swirl and you should definitely start with the red curry queso, That has a little spice and a whole lot of cheesy goodness. First up is the #3 spicy tikka chicken taco which is super creamy and flavorful, and has a bed of basmati rice at the bottom The picnic chicken tastes like a day at the beach and even has freaking potato salad on it For my vegetarians the paneer taco was a favorite and the tomato chutney was unreal. There is also the Mediterranean taco that has a Greek inspired, cucumber and feta combo. My last treat was the Red velvet cake, dense and moist and the added caramel doesn't make it a sweetness overload. My tip is to take your cake to go and warm it up at home its somehow even better and makes it fluffy! There is not a single taco on this menu that feels like an afterthought and Velvet Taco proves there's no bounds to the creativity of a taco. Great ambiance and Excellent customer service from all staff and Christina!

Yelp
This place has so many unique tacos I never even thought existed! I got the buffalo chicken, paneer (I love Indian food) and then a classic steak and mushroom. The buffalo chicken was so crispy and moist and I loved the sauce, it was topped with pieces of bleu cheese. The paneer one was good but got kind of old after a while. The steak and mushroom was also good but needed a little something, so I added hot sauce. You can order on a kiosk, which makes things quick and easy. They lose a star because I ordered lemonade and when I went to the fountain machine, only water came out. Side note: loved their guac as well! I'm coming back for the chicken and waffles taco!!

Yelp
This place was so good & open late on weekends! The Chile shrimp taco was my fav & I also tried the weekly pho king special that came with a side of broth to dip which was a cool concept. The chicken & waffle is a good choice as well. The tacos are filling because they pack your taco with a lot of protein & the drinks are great too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Customer service is above and beyond at this location. Huge shout out to Ernest for explaining the Velvet Taco concept to me and my friend. I'd come back just for the margarita, but I'm sure the owner would be a little disappointed that a margarita was the reason to bring me back since they are all about the taco. This is not your average Joe Taco Bell joint. You can't even get the run of the mill taco. They will custom make a taco for you if you want to add or omit something. I can't tolerate spicy so I omitted the Fresno chili off of my taco. They are very dog friendly and make sure they are well taken care of. My only complaint that I have, and if the owner reads this review is this...please add birria tacos to your menu.

Yelp
I was excited to try this new taco place after seeing great reviews on social media. I prefer tacos with flour tortillas so I liked that they gave customers the option. It is located in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. It is a spacious and laidback kind of establishment. I went with a friend on a Monday and it was not packed at all. The wait time was not long and the workers were very helpful when I was ordering. My order was made quickly and to order. My friend and I enjoyed our food and would definitely return and recommend. Have to try the taco Tuesday specials.

Yelp
Lugar es duro... la frozen margarita es como un 3/5 pero sus tacos estan algaro de ricos!

Yelp
First time having Velvet was in Atl, I was so sad that they didn't have a location in South Florida but now they do. One of the best and unique taco spots I've experienced. They have a wide variety of tacos to choose from, it's something for everyone. I love that they have a self ordering system so you can take your time to decide which taco is good for you. The inside is a vibe. Between the paintings with bright colors and the music you'll definitely enjoy yourself. I came on a Friday afternoon it wasn't packed. I opted to the self ordering system and went with the Frozen margarita, Elote & chips, Spicy chicken tikka taco and Grilled steak taco. Everything came out fresh, flavorful and tasty. I've had the elote & chips before in Atlanta and it'll always be my favorite menu item but the Chicken tikka taco really blew me away. It was packed with so much flavor and even though the chicken it covered in sauce it still remained crunchy. The frozen margarita was a nice balance with the different taco flavors. Thank you for coming to South Florida!

Yelp
Excited to find yet another taco shop in downtown Fort Lauderdale (there's no such thing as too many taco shops) and very excited to notice their menu had a lot of GF notations on it. So I popped in for lunch while I was downtown for work, and was happy to be able to get a table by the wall so I could charge up my devices. I ordered the salmon tacos (GF) and made sure they knew that I needed them to be gluten-free so they were careful with cross-contamination. I also asked them to leave off the Fresno peppers. I didn't order any sides, I have to say their calories were listed on the menu and that impacted my decision, but I'm definitely going to go back and share some tots or nachos with friends so that I can share those calories, LOL! I really enjoyed the blend of salsa on the tacos. They didn't need any additional sauces, they had just the right amount of kick, even without the Fresno peppers. The staff saw that I had a laptop and even said "if you need us to turn down the music let us know!" It wasn't necessary but I thought that was very nice of them. I am definitely going to go back here and try a few other menu items.

Yelp
I've been to this location twice now. The first time I went I was a little bit skeptical due to the prices. You know some of the tacos are over 5 bucks a taco. However, upon receiving my tacos, I realize that they are rather large and honestly eating just one or two could be enough for a person. I also tried their blended sangria and my husband tried their margarita. I find both to be a little bit sweet and pre manufactured. But I think if you're going to a place like Velvet Taco you're going for some late night munchies or for fun fast casual food. We also ordered the red velvet cake which I have to say was Absolutely delicious but very rich. My husband and I ordered six tacos, three for each. I found all the tacos to be delicious and the flavor profiles fantastic. The tikka chicken masala taco tasted like its namesake. The fish and chips taco was crunchy and smokey and savory. I really like the taco of the week, the bulgogi taco in a Doritos bag. Overall they had great flavors and they're filling. When I went the first week they were open the staff and our server were exceptional. They went above and beyond. They were great with modifiers as I don't do a lot of dairy. They also told us about all the things they offer. I went 2 months later after the corporate trainers had gone. The staff was still friendly but they had really gone more of the way of ordering on the wall with the digital pads versus ordering at the front. They were still upbeat though, but it felt a little less welcoming and more casual. Overall I enjoy this place. I can't afford to go there all the time but if I want a truly good specialty taco and a chill atmosphere this place is a treat. I do wish they would offer a happy hour or a special day deal. This probably won't happen because it's in downtown, but that would be a fun thing for the locals that are here year round.

Yelp
Used to love this place and their vegetarian options. They discontinued a few things as of last week. Very sad. Won't be back here again! Staff is friendly but I came to eat and that's no longer an options for me.

Yelp
Tacos were good, large but a tad bit expensive. I understand they're the only shop open till 4AM on Fridays and Saturdays because they are open next to The Wharf. Tacos prices range from $4.50-6.50, they have a little bit for everyone from chimichurri tacos, mojo pork tacos, chicken tacos, and more! They fill them up with meat pretty well so you get your moneys worth. All the tacos have a twist which is fun and their red velvet cake is sweetly delicious (: Service was very friendly and nice As soon as we walked in the door. The ambience is relaxed and chill with outdoor and indoor seating. Especially getting out of the wharf hungry it's the perfect spot right next door (:
