"There are multiple outposts of this taco joint around town, including on two of Nashville’s rowdiest roads: Division Street and Broadway (inside Assembly Food Hall). These are not your average tacos, with options like buffalo chicken, spicy tikka chicken, or kobe smash burger rounding out the menu. The Division Street and East Nashville locations are open until 4 a.m. on weekends." - Kellie Walton

The brisket nachos were delicious!!! The menu has lots of unique options. The chicken and waffle taco broke apart, but it was tasty. Chimichurri tacos were spicy, I didn't realize that. Would go back again to try other options!

Google
I was surprised at how many different and unique varieties they have to offer and how they make something as basic as a taco so fancy and yet flavorful. They have some amazing vegetarian options and I am happy to say that their vegetarian beer battered cauliflower is better than the chicken tacos. We tried a bunch of their chicken and vegetarian options and will be back soon to give the pork and fish tacos a try. I was also impressed to see a fried paneer (Indian cheese) taco. They are using some good quality paneer. Ordering is pretty easy and the food comes out quick. Friendly environment. Great spot to try when in Nashville.

Google
Delicious!!!!!! You won't be sorry. 2 tacos will fill you up. Had the Korean fried rice with pork taco and slow roasted brisket taco. Both are on point. The guacamole and chips are a great combo with the tacos. Dont pass this up.

Google
Great taste, good service (despite the long queue), very crowded on the weekends specially, but closes late so that’s a plus! We sub-ed spicy chicken tikka with paneer and it was worth it! Beer battered Cauliflower was great too!

Google
Wasn’t sure what to expect, but everything was really good. The quesa birria taco was the best of the 5 we ordered, with the angus coming in last. Everything tasted super fresh and was made quickly, but didn’t come out ugly. The tots were extra crispy and worth every bite! The egg only added to the flavor. The staff was friendly and efficient. And the A/C was delightful after coming from outside in the blistering heat.

Google
This was my first time ordering from here and I will say the chicken and waffle tacos were delicious, but they forgot my chips to go with the Elote dip. I’m trying to figure out where are the rest of the brisket and the nachos. Because this is what I saw when I opened the box EDIT I went back when they open this morning when they opened and the morning manager took care of everything. The picture below is how my brisket nachos should’ve looked last night. I also was given a new Elote Queso dip and chips and they both were delicious

Google
I ordered the chicken waffle taco and steak taco to go. The ordering process was easy and efficient. My order was ready and easily picked up from the counter. They got so many good tacos to try. You have to go back and try each one. It's nice to have a place that's open so late.

Google
Was highly impressed by this taco place. On weekends it’s opened till 4am🤩 Great selection and good vegan/ vegetarian options. Loved the panner taco, it’s crispy and so flavourful. The tofu and cauliflower ones are delicious too. A good spot for midnight cravings. On weekdays it’s open till 11pm Reasonably priced and good attentive staff.

Samveda R.

Yelp
On Tuesdays, they run a deal where the chicken tikka tacos are the 2011 price (around 4 each). I'm vegetarian and they were kind enough to sub the taco with paneer. Really tasty, fast service, and great deal! Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, and validated parking.

Yelp
This place in the Music Row was absolutely amazing!!!!! Their tacos, so different, so tasty service was quick. The place could be a little cleaner, but heck for the price it was well worth it. We went there three times in a row three different nights. The best experience was their cauliflower taco, and the tater tots with a seasoned fried egg!!! Deelish! Their Calentina hot sauce is so tasty. Go ahead and give it a try. You'll love it.

Julie G.

Yelp
Velvet Taco is my fave! Ive been to one in Chicago also, but this one was excellent! Had some queso to start - delish! And tried the Slow Roasted Angus Brisket (yum!), the Sweet Chili Shrimp (my fave), and the Cuban Pig (meh). Fast, friendly service, not too busy or crowded, pleasant ambiance. I would come back for sure,

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Ordered the brisket nachos to go and was quite pleased with my order. Pretty decent serving size and a good amount of brisket and cheese. Slightly spicy but not overwhelming. Nachos were obviously a bit soggy since it was to go, but still tasty!

Andy S.

Yelp
Good food and local feel. Tried 2 tacos that was perfect for lunch. Can't wait to try other options.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This place is great! The service was quick, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and the interior is clean and inviting. The tacos are also delicious! I got the nashville hot tofu which was perfectly cooked, and had the amazing Nashville hot flavor. I also got a steak one, and while the meat was a little tough the flavor was incredible. The Korean fried rice was also was super flavorful, and had lots of yummy sauce on it! Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This place is wild after dark. You get the standard drunk crowd. But I had my first "Welcome to Nashville" moment when a drunk chick started hurling the "N" word at one of the employees taking orders. Cooler heads prevailed, and drunky's friends extended an olive branch and bought the employee a meal. I guess that sort of thing happens down there a lot. There were cops standing in there when the girl was screaming at the employee, but they didn't do anything. Just a bizarre scene, but hey I'm just a sheltered northerner so what do I know. Despite all that craziness going on, I must say the tacos were bangin'. During our stay, we hit this place up on more than one occasion (two to be exact). It really is just the perfect place to grab some late-night grub to soak up the alcohol. I'm happy to say that our second visit went without a hitch, and by hitch I mean insane drunk racist lady. One major reason we had to go back was there are just so many darn tacos to choose from. On the first visit, you order 2-3 tacos you want to try, but now having seen the entire menu, you start thinking about the tacos you'll order next time. The tacos begin to invade your dreams. Now granted, my one friend ate the spicy tikka chicken taco on the first trip and ordered four more the next time we went there. Apparently he wanted no other variety. Truly love at first bite. An absolute savior to Nashville's night owls, Velvet Taco stays open until four freakin' AM Friday and Saturday. During this five day trip, Velvet Taco was the only place we hit up twice. Not even that famous fried chicken place got a repeat visit. I mean, it did kind of help it was one of the few joints we could still get food that was somewhat near our AirBnb, but I know it's a prime location for them. There's another in the downtown area, and I just learned there are locations in a handful of other states as well. Perhaps they'll come up a bit further north one day.

Yelp
Velvet Taco is located Midtown directly across from Losers Bar and Grill. Outstanding taco selection and excellent quality. Appetizers and sides are also fabulous. I ordered the special which came with two tacos, a side and a drink. For the tacos I chose the Mexicali shrimp (although you can also mix and match) and for the side I chose guacamole which came with chips. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and the tacos were topped with huge chunks of avocado. Love the option of the sugar-free lemonade at the drink station. There is also a vegetarian option. And velvet taco is known for its red velvet cake, it is the only dessert featured on the menu. The Say What combo was $15 which I felt was an excellent value and you can also upgrade to an alcoholic beverage for another $6. This restaurant has crazy hours and is open late into the evening (Thursdays until 2 AM and Fridays and Saturdays until 4 AM!) which is also an added plus after a night of drinking at the local bars which Nashville is known for.

Stacy A.

Yelp
I LOVE unique flavored tacos and this place doesn't disappoint in the selection. However, the tacos were a bit over priced, $6-7 per taco! The Korean taco was incredibly flavorful and well balanced. The steak taco was a bit difficult to eat because of the large cut of meat. Would come back for that Korean taco for sure!

Aja F.

Yelp
Got in Nashville kind of late so I looked up some good taco places. I chose this place for the selections and late night hours. I can say the tacos were very packed with meat. They were tasty and full filling. I will most definitely eat here again.

Matthew C.

Yelp
Got: Grilled salmon, fried cauliflower, paneer tacos Price: ~$6-$7 per taco Value: Tacos are loaded with ingredients but are not large themselves. A tad on the pricey side for the amount of food per taco. A super novel, unique, trendy spot for a new taco experience Velvet Taco has a menu of unique taco fusions. Ranging from an Indian paneer to a Korean BBQ taco, there are plenty of options if you want something different. These are not your traditional Socal street tacos, but are still fun and delicious. You order your food at a counter and are called when it's ready. The salmon taco had strips of grilled salmon and was solid but not exceptional. I think it had too much crema which detracted from the fish starring. The cauliflower taco was slightly too oily and had Tabasco at the bottom which I wasn't the biggest fan of bc of the vinegary acidic flavor. I think a traditional salsa roja for acidity would have worked better. My favorite was the fried paneer taco with an Indian curry cream sauce at the bottom. The paneer cheese resembled a mozzarella stick without the stretchiness of the melted cheese. The curry with the flour tortilla resembled roti which I thought was lovely. The creamy sauce on top was unremarkable BUT replacing it with yogurt and adding a little onion on top would have completed the Indian flavors well. Overall, would come back with company to have them experience the taco fusions.

Andrew E.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try this place out. We both ordered a couple tacos each and the chips/dips trio. She had the Rotisserie Chicken and Chimichurri Steak. I had the Picnic Chicken and Mexican-cali shrimp. For the dips trio we chose queso, classic guacamole and elote. All of it was very good. The only complaint was since we were in the assembly food hall the guy singing was absolutely terrible and loud.

Enna J.

Yelp
Good food and service. Tables and floors were sticky. Limited parking available plus it's paid/metered.

Jasmyne P.

Yelp
Nimble service, the staff were all smiles and quite welcoming. My colleagues have mentioned this spot before, so I decided to give them a try. I was impressed with Nashville Hot Tofu tacos and the red velvet cake. It was delicious! This was my first experience here at Velvet Taco. 10/10 do recommend!!

Kimberly H.

Yelp
The variety of flavor profiles seems endless, with weekly specials and international flare. Some of the best customer service we received while visiting Nashville. Would recommend 10/10. Already looking forward to trying their other locations.

Christina M.

Yelp
The flavors are great! I think the sweet chili shrimp and the fish n chips taco were my fav. The chicken & waffles were different. All of them were good. Probably wouldn't get Korean or chimicburri again

Ian S.

Yelp
Damn, that Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle was GOOD!! The Slow Roasted Angus Brisket one was really good as well!! 9/10 would definitely recommend those two!! The Spicy Tikka Chicken tasted like vomit tho, so I wouldn't recommend that one :/ And the Red velvet cake isn't anything spectacular either. The service was extremely fast, so I appreciated that, and the ambiance was a little dirty, but I can't really blame them because they're in downtown Nashville and there's a lot of foot traffic.

William M.

Yelp
Went here a couple of days ago after day drinking at Losers. Wife heard about on FB so we walked over. We are from Southern Cali and the worlds best tacos, bar none. However, this place was outstanding. Selection of tacos, toppings, etc... Man, we are coming back to Nashville just to hit this place up again.

Keith M.

Yelp
My first time trying Velvet Taco and let me tell you...it was !!! I ordered the picnic chicken taco and the queso blanco and it was so scrumptious I literally didn't want it to end. Sooooo flippin delicious! Where have y'all been all my life?!? Definitely top of my list once I come back to Nashville!!!

Abbey Kate G.

Yelp
Velvet Taco offers a vibrant atmosphere paired with delicious, unique tacos. Great late night spot- open very late on the weekends. It can get crowded when the bars close, but it's always super fun! They have gluten free and low carb options ( the BEST lettuce wrapped tacos)!

Nick C.

Yelp
Amazing tacos. Tons of options from various cuisines so you really can't go wrong here. Chimichurri Steak was my favorite but all 3 tacos I tried were good. My dining companions also raved about their tacos. Didn't try the cake. Ambiance is fun and full of character. Service was solid and fast.

Josh W.

Yelp
Easily one of my all time favorite taco spots. Rivals any place I've ever been any state any country. The brisket nachos and all of their "favorite" starred tacos are phenomenal. Very generous portions and great prices. The staff is also really really nice and helpful with the orders! Great ambiance of the place as well with indoor and outdoor seating options. Love going back anytime I can

Sue F.

Yelp
Wow - I'm in love with this place! Not your typical taco joint - no, you won't find a plain ground beef taco here. You won't find one of those fist size burritos. You're not going to find the row of frozen margarita machines ubiquitous to Nashville. What you will find are unique combinations of ingredients that just happen to be served in a tortilla. I had the chimichurrie steak taco. Maybe a tad heavy on the rice but still it rocked. The steak was tender and plentiful. I'd definitely order it again. My husband had the grilled salmon taco. I don't know how they made that work but they did. He really enjoyed it. We topped our meal off with a side of pineapple guac and chips. From now on, guacamole will never be the same without roasted pineapple. It was amazing! I didn't lick the bowl - maybe if I wasn't in public I would have! We sat outside on the porch and watched people stumble in and out of the bar across the street. Who needs paid entertainment, right?! There was a small parking lot next to the building. It had a pay here kiosk but when I tried to pay, the ticket popped out with a charge of 0.00. Works for me. While the food rocked, the atmosphere could have used a little work. The bathrooms were clean but not eat off the counters clean. The restaurant seemed a little cluttered and would have been difficult for my mother, who uses a walker, to navigate. The music was a bit loud inside - ok, I'm getting older, but it was easier to hold a conversation outside. I'm glad to see that Velvet Taco has several locations around the Midwest. I could see myself very easily becoming a Velvet Taco groupie!

Monica K.

Yelp
I've never spent so much money in my life on one taco, lol. These are the most unique flavorful tacos I've ever tasted. The tacos are very filling and a nice size. The cauliflower and Korean fried rice tacos are my favorite. They are usually crowded during lunch, but the service is always fast.

Jackee O.

Yelp
This place looked so cute from the outside that I had to go in. I loved the neon lights on the sign. I ordered three tacos, and they were generous with their portions. The tacos were very flavorful, but some had too much sauce, which masked the taste of the meat and was a bit disappointing. I was drawn in by the charming exterior and wanted to give it a try.

Joseph R.

Yelp
This place is a local legend for its Fusion taco flavors. We were not disappointed. From Indian to Nashville hot chicken to Mexican, they have something for everyone's appetite. The staff were super friendly. Unfortunately, there was a whiff of hot trash at the entrance. It put a slight damper on the experience, but was worth the temporary annoyance to enjoy these amazing flavors. We only wish there was a franchise in our hometown!

Veronica C.

Yelp
Ok so this place has been a favorite of mine since discovering it in Fort Worth, TX while living there. When I heard they were opening one here in Nashville I was excited. They gave free tacos around their opening day so totally went and got delicious tacos! Menu of the numbers I had that day (#8.5 and #12). Unfortunately I don't come around this area very often, if I worked at the hospital like back in the day I would be here very often, did I mentioned they have drive-thru? Today I happened to be in the area today and hungry so hello! I got the #11.5 Chimichurri steak and this weeks WTF- Crispy BBQ Chicken and no disappointments here. Both are delicious. The steak was super soft and the rice was done right. The chicken tender was perfectly juicy. The service was ok, nothing special. The atmosphere is very popping and casual. Decor is inspired by Queen of France Marie Antoinette but with a mix of rustic industrial vibe. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. You order at the counter and they call your name when ready and pick up at the end of counter. You clean up after yourself here. Alcohol served here too. Some draft beer and some on the can/bottles and some frozen drinks. Come check them out!

Carmen H.

Yelp
I just took a bite of the Pork belly taco and this should go on the regular menu. Of course my favorite is the fried cauliflower taco

Lacee F.

Yelp
Casual taco joint near Broadway. Very relaxed atmosphere with counter service, indoor and outdoor seating available. Service was attentive and served quickly. Variety of tacos to pick from to accommodate all palettes. Highly recommend Elote Guac with chips. Perfect to share with a group. The kick ass frozen margarita is exactly as it sounds and would recommend! Paid parking available onsite. Will definitely be back!

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant at midnight and it was the perfect late night snack . The establishment stays open until 4am on the weekends. The service was good, vibes were good , tacos were amazing, sangria was good . I really enjoyed this restaurant. No complaints except for the parking ! My fav taco was the Mediterranean mushroom taco

Erin C.

Yelp
These are really really good tacos, and for a really really good price! They are open late on Fridays and Saturdays, and even serve alcohol. The tacos are a good size, and there is a large front patio that you can sit at. The variety of tacos is great, they have more vegetarian options at this location. I cannot get enough of their elote, I could eat it with a shovel it is so good.

Katie F.

Yelp
I can shamelessly admit that in our short 3-night stay in Nashville, the girls and I noshed here twice! One time on the restaurant patio at 3am and the other we door dashed at 3am...again! Let's just say, drunk girls need their tacos and we did just that...along with half of midtown Nashville! Our favorites from the weekend: Crisp tots & local egg - loaded with herb goat cheese, smoked cheddar, avocado crema, chile butter, peppered bacon, micro greens. Recipe Brisket nachos - slow-roasted angus brisket, queso blanco, blue corn chips, roasted corn pico, citrus lime crema, chimichurri, queso fresco, micro cilantro Fan Favorite #10 Kobe bacon burger Taco -peppered bacon, smoked cheddar, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, velvet sauce, flour tortilla - a literal burger taco! Velvet Taco for the late-night win....x2!

Noelle B.

Yelp
Service was quick, food was creative and incredible. The Buffalo chicken was off the charts good. Hubby loved the Korean beef and preferred it slightly over the Cajun pork. The tots were delicious as well and we couldn't get enough! Will be back!

Mark L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick taco lunch. There were plenty of unusual taco flavors to pick from. Both the chicken and beef were flavorful. Both had some heat, but not too much for me. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. It was too hot to sit outside in the afternoon.

Ray M.

Yelp
Menu has a ton of options. I typically dont go to gourmet taco places because I leave disappointed, but this was great. Service is fast casual so worked out well. My son loved the chicken & waffles taco. I loved the mexicali shrimp & chimichurri steak taco. Its casual, moderately loud, and in a perfect location in Music Row

DeAndrea B.

Yelp
I don't give my 5s away frivolously, but this place deserves them. First of all let me say that a taco place in Nashville was not on my bingo card but this place was amazing. First of all, the ambiance is welcoming and honestly when with a group I love the order and pay system. So immediately I notice that the space is small, but the kitchen area is big. So many people working but everyone spoke and said hello. I met a young lady names summer who I think needs to be employee of the week because she was so nice, cleaning our table, taking our order and making recommendations. I told her I wanted to Mention her because she was so kind. The taco was great and they were seasoned to perfection. The margaritas were good as well even though at the time They only had frozen. Great experience Great service Highly recommend

Sophie O.

Yelp
- Chicken & waffle (crisp tenders, peppered bacon, peppercorn gravy, green apple slaw, maple syrup, red chile aioli, chives, waffle tortilla) 9.2/10 still dreaming about this place. I'm obsessed. This was a rather sweet taco. Chicken was fire and huge. The waffle tortilla was odd but a good odd. Totally forgot there was gravy on this, interesting flavors but loved it. - Mexi-cali shrimp (blackened shrimp, napa slaw, sriracha aioli, avocado corn pico, micro cilantro, flour tortilla) 9.2 once again absolutely stunning taco. Basic but done extremely well.

Joy P.

Yelp
A lot of good taco options! The fish taco was really crispy and delicious. This place is open late and gets packed, but very efficient.

Geneva D.

Yelp
Far better drunk than sober. That's not to knock the tacos, but they just weren't my personal preference. But everyone else I went with loved their tacos, so the rating reflects that. I made 2 stops here during a recent trip to Nashville. This location was only a block away from my hotel, so it was convenient. Items ordered: Rotisserie chicken - 3/5; the chicken was cold Spicy tikka chicken - 5/5; I didn't try it, but my bf love his and on the 2nd trip ordered double Kobe bacon burger - 2/5; nothing really special about a hamburger in a tortilla Slow roasted angus brisket - 4/5; the cheese encrusted shell was really the star here Mexi-cali shrimp - 4/5; all the ingredients tasted super friend Service: The woman working the register both times we were think was absolutely great. She actually remembered us on our 2nd trip and was able to answer all our questions about the food and their drink selection. Ambiance: This place is really fun after dark. It's what you would expect from an after hours taco spot in terms of rowdiness and noice level, but luckily dine-in seating wasn't hard to find. Overall, very untraditional in terms of flavor profile for the tacos, so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere.

Erika P.

Yelp
Atmosphere is fast causal but super cool and funky. Never takes too long to get food. Dine in is definitely the move. There's so much sauce and flavor in the tacos that they get soggy for takeout. Lots of different options for everyone's flavor profiles. Staff is always friendly. If you're looking for NON-traditional tacos with a cool, modern spin, this is the place to go.

Jaymes-Wynton K.

Yelp
Hands down the best tacos I've had in Nashville. 6-inch tacos stacked with toppings. I got the grilled salmon and came back for seconds the next day. Food was out quick and very tasty.

Annette M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite. Excellent service. Definitely order the elote and chips, or just the elote to eat with a spoon. SO good. Also the crisp tots with local egg and goat cheese was amazing, especially with lots of their yummy hot sauce. Tried a few different tacos. My favs were the shrimp taco with sweet chili and the steak with chimichurri. Lots of choices. My advice, browse the menu or pics on Yelp before you go in, if it's your first time, The lines moves quickly and they have so many taco and side options. We look forward to coming back soon.

Sue S.

Yelp
We walked down here from our hotel for dinner and stumbled upon the Velvet Taco. This place is really cool and makes some pretty good food. I will say that I found the ordering to be confusing. There is one menu tacked up on the far wall, and there are printed menus available. But it takes you so long to evaluate all the options that some research ahead of time could be wise. There was a little bit of a cluster when we were there because people kind of end up congregating around the wall while they figure out their order. -We got the elote guac, which was pretty decent and served with blue corn chips -And we got a smattering of tacos. I remember the bacon cheeseburger one. It tasted just like a bacon cheeseburger - almost astoundingly so. But it was very greasy. I'm not sure I'd order again. And I got the sweet chile shrimp, which was by far my favorite. Crunchy, delicious. Wished I had ordered two. Service was OK but it took forever to order. I wonder how backed up this place gets when it's busy. All that said, delicious and would come back.

Nina B.

Yelp
Super quick and friendly service at the Food Hall location. I got the GF rotisserie chicken tacos and a side of chips & guac. So delicious and the guac was flavorful and fresh.

Kirk F.

Yelp
I like this place a lot; it's fast yet several cuts above a typical fast food stop. I had a Korean pork taco and a spicy cauliflower taco that filled me up for not much more than $10 and tasted great! Comfortable place to eat and fast service with a smile. Taco time!

Eileen C.

Yelp
Always reliably yummy, on time. Love their cauliflower tacos, buffalo chicken, really have never had a bad experience. Friendly to boot. For a hot minute could take out margs which was nice but no longer. Oh well. Midtown corksorks is on the way home.

Antwan S.

Yelp
So order that trio dip , roasted chicken tacos and the frozen margaritas with grand Marnie shot trust me you'll have a good time and sit out on the patio.

Victoria F.

Yelp
Very delicious and super fast. I go back for the buffalo taco every time. The parking is convenient and the people are friendly. The drive through is actually pre order pick up.
