Venice Pizza

If Huntsville has a culinary crown jewel, it’s Venice Pizza, hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had, and trust me, I’ve put in the miles (and calories) to make that claim responsibly. Every time I’m in Huntsville, it’s not a question of if I’ll stop by Venice Pizza… it’s how fast I can get there after landing. Their classic pepperoni? Perfection. Their white pizzas? Otherworldly. Every pie has that magical combination of fresh ingredients, incredible flavor, and something extra that I swear must be a trade secret passed down from pizza wizards. It’s honestly hard to describe, like your taste buds suddenly unlocking a cheat code. I was introduced to Venice Pizza back when I worked at the Research Park in Huntsville, and it quickly became the highlight of any meeting where the boss surprised us with a few boxes. Productivity skyrocketed. Morale soared. Problems solved themselves. Pizza really does make everything better, especially this pizza. Ordering online is a breeze, and every time I arrive, my pizza is ready like it’s been eagerly anticipating our reunion. If you’re anywhere near Huntsville, do yourself a favor: go to Venice Pizza. Your future self will thank you, your current self will be thrilled, and your past self will wonder why you didn’t discover it sooner.

I ordered delivery of the Eggplant Parmesan over Ziti entree which comes with salad. I also ordered carrot cake. The delivery was quick and the portions were generous enough leftovers that I have enough for tomorrow. The eggplant was crispy, the sauce very delicious and the ziti cooked just right. There was plenty of salad dressing (which is a lot of times not the case at other restaurants when you order delivery). What can you say about carrot cake other than it was perfect. 5✨s❗️

Ok so I love what looks like hole in the wall restaurants . This place surprised me a little bit. First off friendly people , second off well I ordered 10 mild wings and a med hamburger pizza added mushrooms and olives. Took back to my hotel. The wings were good , fresh , hot , flavorful , big,etc. Pizza was great as well , no issues

Wow, great pizza ! Thin crispy crust , Hawaiian plus pepperoni was great . Got the 21” it’s a biggie. Owner was super nice even though we came in late before close .

Great service and a great place for a quick bite at lunch. Giant slices of pizza and enormous calzones. Great value for the price. Eggplant parmesan came with a salad, and it was crisp and fresh. The baked ziti underneath was so so, maybe I'll try the baked spaghetti next time.

Tried Venice Pizza in Huntsville for the first time—so good! We had the 4-cheese pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Hot, fresh, and the sauce had amazing flavor. The garlic knots were soft and buttery, and the marinara was just as tasty. Honestly, it’s a refreshing change from the usual chain pizza places. You can tell they actually care about what they’re making. Definitely coming back!

I’ve been coming here for 15 years. I love coming to this place and if I wanted a chicken parm dinner To go, I would come here. But I have just got the worst food. The chicken used to be chicken cutlets that were cut up. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was nice. Tonight I got the thinnest chicken strips. I swear they were just a quarter inch. And they were so overcooked. It didn’t even look like chicken. I thought it was something else. And the nice shredded cheese they used to put on top is now three slices of provolone that came up in a Single lump when I tried to pull some out to go on a dish. And the Italian dressing which used to be a vinaigrette, is now some weird creamy dressing that to me taste like it has eggs in it. Not good. They’ve gone cheap. It would’ve been better raising their prices than to serve this. I’ll have to find someplace else to get my chicken parm from. Do not recommend any longer.

Their pizza is the best I've had in the area. The sauce tastes authentic. They are very pleasant and customer service oriented. Although we didn't dine i, the restaurant looked neat and clean upon first impressions.

While in Huntsville Alabama with family, Tony Vanoy , Kayla Beth Fields , Joshua Hunt & Deacon Hunt , Kayla and I went to the Van Buren Arena to see the Famous Comedian Leanne Morgan in concert. On the way home after a wonderful show, we stopped at Venice Pizza to purchase 2 pizzas and take back to the Home 2 Suites by Hilton in Huntsville. I purchased a large supreme Pizza and a medium pepperoni Pizza. At the hotel, Tony and Joshua and stay behind with Deacon to swim in the pool. The Pizza was very good. It cost $38 for both pizzas and a side of ranch dressing. We had water, Soda and tea in the hotel room. Definitely would order this Pizza again!!! Everyone enjoyed it immensely!!

2025 update: I think they've changed owners again since I wrote my original review in 2022 -- or at least, the personnel are different. It's still not exactly New York pizza, but it's excellent and probably the closest there is to New York-style pizza in Huntsville. I'm a longtime NYC pizza aficionado (look up "The Pizza Principle" on Wikipedia) so I know. I always get a plain cheese pizza (the traditional New York pizza) with no toppings, so that's all I can review. Venice Pizza is my go-to place for pizza in Huntsville.

Delicious. We ordered to go. Their pizza is always the bomb. I highly recommend. We ordered several times while in Huntsville and have not been disappointed yet. It's usually ready pretty quickly too.

Got a mushroom garlic pizza that was delicious. It seems like a whole in the wall but you'll be pleasantly surprised! We got it to go & warmed it & could hardly wait to eat it. Our house smelled amazing. We will be back to try some more items.

I work on Redstone Arsenal, and we regularly order from this location for our unit functions. I decided to order takeout/delivery from home in Harvest, and found it to be as good or better than what we picked up and delivered ourselves to our work location. Great pizza, awesome toppings, perfect crust! It was different getting around the pizza, even the large size that it was, because we generally order eight or 10 of their rectangular pizzas for work. Great job all around!

This place is a gem. We're from out of town and we were looking for a quick bite to eat. This place was perfect. A great variety of menu choices--pizzas, wraps, wings, sandwiches, and salads. You can even buy pizzas by the slice, which is super convenient if you're on the go! I ordered the beef gyro which came with fries. It was delicious; just what I would expect if I ordered it from a gyro shop. The veggies on the sandwich were also super crisp and fresh. I only wish there was more meat on my gyro. My husband had the chicken caesar wrap with fries and my daughter had the cheese pizza slice. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food very much. My daughter said this was the best pizza she's ever had! Service was very fast and the young gentlemen working were friendly and checked on us often. Very satisfied with our experience!

This place was really good for the price and the quality. While it didn't necessarily blow my socks off, it was good! And the price was very very reasonable. I regret we didn't eat here more, but definitely worth a try. Don't let the indoor atmosphere fool you - this is some good pizza.

Venice pizza is outstanding in both its food and service. I am originally from New York City and a pizza connoisseur. I now live in San Diego and travel often. I did not expect the only pizza place I always make a point of visiting to be located in Huntsville, Alabama but I always visit Venice Pizza when traveling here. The food is great and the very friendly service is excellent. I highly recommend it!

Food is sometimes good depending on what you order. It isn't consistent. The Fries are those nasty, cold thick cut fries and they never fully cook them so they're mushy & unappetizing with no flavor. Chicken sandwich hot subs have REALLY good flavor but for the high prices, are very small. Pizza-this is not New York style pizza ok, our pizza is cut in large, plate sized slices & is covered in meltY cheese so let's not say it's better than NY joints.... Like ever lol. It's chewy for some reason. It's thin all right & the cheese has good flavor, I'd eat it again. LISTEN- YOU AINT GETTIN A SLICE HERE! They NEED to turn OFF that $!@! Sign okayyyyy?!? They only serve slices "Monday through Friday 10-2," early bird & that's it. It's misleading Service is lack luster to say the least. Everyone is kind of in sleepy mode. No one was rude but no one paid attention either. The restaurant got a little clean up YAY!! You may not want to drink out of those free standing cups though. It's a hole in the wall establishment so I expected large, delicious quantities thrown together all delicious and sloppy on the plate or cardboard box (we city folk so we like that) for lower prices BUT it's terribly expensive and I don't know why. Overall, give it a chance. They have salad options, sides, frozen desserts & pizza. Looks like they downsized the menu. Location is iffy & I mean that but the food I've tried is on point so far. like THAT GRILLED CHICKEN SUB THOUGH....off the chain good! VENICE PIZZA I SEE YOU... I'LL BE BACK

Ordered and paid online was easy. We did pickup and order was ready in 20 minutes! House special pizza large was good . Crust is firm NY style. Toppings good balance base will add extra cheese or jalapeno next time. Mediterranean large salad was huge! And enough for 4. Garlic knots were small balls and would skip in future. Inside was classic pizzaria red chairs-see others photos. I look forward to trying more of menu.

Food was good! Service was fast and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened our container of chicken wings to discover French fries! yum! We will always support a mom and pop restaurant!

Not memorable. Nothing like NY style pizzas I've had before, which are quite unique. I've only tried two so far: Marguerite and Mediterranean. Don't think they carry any anchovies, and both times I've ordered delivery, but they don't ask for payment. I've had to call them back to pay with my credit card. The Mediterranean in Medium size is now 14.99 and seemed kind of bland, although the sundried tomatoes had a strong flavor. I expected more flavor from the olives, at least the green ones. The dough has a nice chew to it, but the crispy seems to come from putting lots of cornmeal under the pizza before it's cooked, rather than a hot oven, or whatever normally makes NY-style pizza crispy, juicy and greasy all at the same time. Not a lot of cheese, no grease. This is not the pizza you love (and need) to fold. I've seen some fry houses add extra cornmeal so when you get fried catfish to go, the travel home doesn't cause the crispy to get steamed out. And that's a huge consideration for NY- style pizza... when I get one in Atlanta (Verasano's on Peachtree), I have to open the lid so my pizza doesn't steam. But please don't use cornmeal to fake this crispy crust. It's not the same. Maybe my tastebuds are messed up, maybe a traditional pepperoni or meatless or even a Hawaiian - but not a search for a NY- style - will have you calling this your favorite pizza joint. .

Placed order to be picked up at 11:02. Restaurant owner did not arrive to open store until 11:30. When he got there I asked to cancel. He said he could have it for me in ten minutes. Hesitantly I agreed. Fifteen minutes later I was given my order. No apology given, no discount, no drink offered while I waited. Pizza was just mid.

I give them a solid 5 stars for pizza. Then I take away 0.5 for no masks wearing. I have my shots, so I don't care. I had a house special pizza. If I lived here, I'd come back here frequently. Really liked the pizza. The restaurant is old school. Like you walked into 1980. I like this look and feel. The lady working the counter and serving was super friendly. Pizza was great

Fast and tasty carryout service over at Venice Pizza. I hadn't had a calzone in a while so I asked boyfriend if he wanted to split one. He was game, so I called in and placed our order. It was ready to go in 10 minutes -- I watched an employee slide it into the box and brush the crust with extra butter as I walked in. It looks like they have a small dine in area off to the side, but to me it feels much more like a carryout type of place. Employees weren't effusively friendly but they got the job done and my food out on time, which is all you can require. My pepperoni and cheese calzone was yummy. Good ratio of toppings -- the grease from the pepperoni didn't overwhelm it -- and the cheese was plentiful and gooey. Crispy, buttery crust, not too doughy. Didn't bother with much of the marinara sauce on the side, but it comes as an accompaniment. For about 9 bucks a calzone that can be split quite comfortably for lunch, you can't really go wrong. Can't speak to the pizza or anything else, but I'd definitely grab a calzone again.

Ingredients just fell off revealing the uncooked dough. Cheese not melted on the top either.

Eggplant parm hero was damn good. I would've preferred a little more sauce on it, but it was still a top notch sandwich. I'd order from here again if I'm ever back working in tho area.

I got a margarita pizza and it was trash. I hoped that it would be good bc it's so close to home and it has a lot of 5 star reviews and I was beyond disappointed. Only place worth going to for pizza in Huntsville is Grimaldi's. Idk how people have this place 5 stars

We come here at least once a month for the pizza. It's absolutely delicious, reminiscent of northeast pizza joints I frequented. Staff is always friendly, service is great!

This was terrible pizza! Like how can you mess up a pepperoni pizza! Please do yourself a favor and save your money and time and just go elsewhere! This place felt and looked old and nasty!

Really enjoyed the food here. I had their pizza, pasta and calzone all of them were very good. Not sure if their sauce are homemade but that was the best part of their food is the tomato sauce!! I also like this fact that their dough I not doughy and chewy!! It was baked perfectly with a crisp! Only concern was the place is kinda outdated and not sure about their cleanliness. The dining area was not very desirable. I would just order take out next time!

Amazing pizza. Great service. Can't beat it price. Recently tried Venice pizza for lunch. We ordered the Meat Deluxe 14in pizza and three cans of coke, all for $21. Best price in town for great pizza. They have a seating area that is small but larger than I imagined considering the building. We will most definitely be back again!!

Best calzones in town, hands down and it is not even close!!! Good sized portions, loaded with lots of mozzarella cheese, just the way I like it!! Highly recommend them for calzones. Have not tried their other offerings, but if the calzones are great, I am quite sure the pizza and other offerings will be likewise.

Ordered two medium calzones both were the same size as the small that is normally order when I called to informed them of the error the guy on the phone claimed he made them they are mediums and hung up phone. Spent 45.00 dollars with them and this will be my last time horrible customer services

Wow! Absolutely delicious pizza. Ordered 2 pies, a meatball and a cheese! Was so good came back again. I'm from NYC and this is better than some of the pizza there!

The calzone was delicious. It was piping hot which is how I love my food. There was plenty of mozzarella cheese without the ricotta that some places add. My toppings were pepperoni and sausage. The only draw back would be the cool marinara sauce. They should have it warm. It cools down the hot pizza and takes away from the taste. Deduct half a star for toe cold marinara

I have eaten here twice within a week. Not only is the pizza wonderful, the employee (Christina) that took my order, was polite, kind, and efficient in all her interactions with customers. On my 2nd trip, she called me by name, remembered my first order, and applied my #MilitaryDiscount. The restaurant was clean, placing my to go orders was efficient, and other diners appeared to enjoy their food. Why buy a pizza from Doms or PJs when you can get a better quality pizza for just a few dollars more? I plan to eat there often. Incidentally, I have earned 6 free pizzas at Doms and $20 in Papa Dough; I eat a lot of pizza. Semper Fi

Very good. Ordered while staying at a nearby hotel. Pizza was hot and fresh and cheesy bread sticks were also hot and good. Only complaint I ordered sausage and only received sausage on half.

Tried it a second time, ordering a salad because how could you mess that up? The lettuce taste dirty. It's weird bc it's crisp, so maybe it's the Greek dressing, I don't know. It's just awful.

We were in the mood for some good pizza (not Dominos) and this place got some good reviews on Trip Advisor so we took a trip to eat in. Not an impressive first impression (place needs some updates). The ~20 minute wait time was acceptable. Only bottle/can drinks, not unlimited fountain drinks, and my hubby drinks a lot of tea so that's a negative. We ordered a 1/2 pizza since hubby/I wanted something different. We said NO peppers since my husband is allergic to them and his 1/2 had peppers. I ate my 1/2 since I was famished while they quickly made a 2nd pizza with no peppers. We were so hungry I don't remember what it tasted like. It was good and maybe we'll give them another try some other day, but I won't jump up and down about them. They appear to do more pickup/takeout as there was only one other person eating in at dinner time.

Came in at 1100 for lunch. 2 of the 4 of us received food after 40 minutes. At one hour, the other two are still waiting. One of the guys only ordered two slices of Pepperoni pizza. Several that came in after us have been served. Very unsatisfactory experience. Make sure your company allows for a two-hour lunch to eat here.

Not much to look at from the street but the staff were friendly the pizza was excellent with good hand tossed crust. The dough is excellent and not overworked. Terrific ingredients, overall excellent job.

I was pleasantly surprised with my Hawaiian pizza. Topped with pineapple, bacon and ham, you can't beat the great flavors of this pizza! I thought it was cooked in a wood burning brick oven. The crust had the perfect char! I can't wait to try other menu items from this great reasonably priced pizza shop!

Next to Valentinas this is my favorite Pizza spot. I really find it to be the closest to the tri state flavor I enjoy.

First time trying Venice Pizza. Out of a party of 4 they only scored 50%. The Bake Ziti and Meat Ball Sandwich were great disappoints to my dining companions. Both said the Marinara Sauce was tasteless and the meatballs on the sandwich had no flavor. I had the Gyro warp and my 4th dining companion had a pizza. I really enjoyed my Gyro and the she said she really enjoyed the pizza. The people working were friendly and courteous so 5 stars for the employees....

I don't ever review places. BUT LOOK AT THIS MASTERPIECE. Lasagna amazing. Margarita and pesto chicken pizza AMAZING. On top of it, incredibly cheap!!

Menu looked good, nothing else. Have to be honest we chose not to eat here after observing multiple roaches in the kitchen, in plain view. That combined with the 85 health score lead us back out the door. May have good food but multiple roaches near food prep? Nah fam...

Ok, my family and I have been here 3 months from Florida and have yet to find a great pizza place. We order according to reviews and what we read for this place was 4 and 5 stars. Sorry Venice pizza can't do it. We have ordered from over 10 places and haven't found a great pizza place yet.

The closest to NYC style pizza I've found in the Rocket City. And it's soooooo good. Their Greek salad abs dolmadies are great as well. Tony and his dad run a great joint that I look forward to being a regular at.

Wow, let me start off by saying, if you have not been to this place. Make it your next meal. I called in my order for pick up, ordered a medium calzone with ricotta, meatballs, and fresh garlic. Total was $10.53 including taxes. This calzone is huge. Probably should have gotten the small, but it was so wonderful, I had to force myself to stop eating half way through. The crust is thin and crunchy, with the inside piped full of hot fresh ingredients. The ricotta was so creamy and added an extra level of creaminess and cheesiness to this masterpiece. The meatballs had a very great taste to them, they do taste homemade. The fresh garlic added just a bite of garlicky flavor that wasn't overpowering but just right for me. All of these stuffed with mozzarella cheese inside this pocket of goodness. I haven't been this excited about pizza in such a long time. It truly was great! The place itself is in an older building, but they have a good health rating. You get the dive feel of this place, which is what it really is. The cashier was extremely nice. They offer a wide variety of menu, and you can even purchase pizza by the slice! If you haven't tried this hidden treasure, definitely check it out. I can't wait to take my husband, and to try a pizza!

Dated decor- wish there was a uniform or at least a shirt that identified the staff. It would look more professional. Walked up and 2 staff members that were outside smoking and hanging out- not a great first look. Went in and ordered- very polite person took the order. Pizza was prepared great- ample toppings and the crust was very good- not too thick but not super thin either- really liked it. I still prefer Joe's in Athens overall- to me he has the BEST crust around. The place does huge take out business and it's easy to see why. Very quite when we arrived but the staff was still attentive did not ignore. There is some small details that need attention but the place is a hit. The bad- same 2 people Outside smoking when we came back out!

Ordered for carry out. Food was ready quickly and was hot and fresh when I picked it up. Staff was friendly seems like it's a family run place. Pizza tasted good I've got no complaints.

Everytime we come here we love it! Despite the hassle of the road construction outside and the restaurant could use a facelift the most important thing is the food and experience which is five stars from us! Looking forward to the next visit :)

Dessert was great, but pizza was burnt. It's been a long time since I've been there and I remember it being great, so I will give it a little grace here. I'll order again soon and double check the box before I leave.
