I enjoyed the butterfly shrimp 🍤 basket with fries. It was good. They have San Pellecrino Mineral Water here. It was good. I appreciate the service here 🙏.

It's a good price but you have to cook your own steak. The sides are salad, potatoe, and garlic bread. It's more a bar with a little diner I like the music from 80s 90s AC works good plenty of parking. The dinner for 2 includes wine but I don't drink. The service was good for a crowded bar. So I guess if you don't have kids it is the only steak place in Monterey Park. There used to be Charlie Browns but that's long gone. The only thing about the grill I didn't like was the temperature setting and lighting. Cooking on someone's grill that you have never used before has a little getting used too. If I were more prepared I would have liked to get an idea what the grill temp was and been able to see how the meat was cooking. It would be like cooking on a grill at night with no temp control. A person there later said the top right corner is hot and you can sear it there then move it down. But everyone has a different way the like to cook.

If you enjoy Karaoke the best grilled steak you have ever had. I know the grill master one of the best 3 Michelin chefs in the world. Then this place is for you !!

Nice couples date cooking out night here you cook your steak it's a cool experience I was pretty surprised but when my boyfriend and I got up there to the grill we enjoyed ourselves together . They also do have other items on menu they cook up for you but not much they difficulty push the delicious steak fun dinner

There is no doubt this is a unique and quintessential relic just east of LA. I think this place is great for what it offers, however I must say that the portions are slightly undersized and lacking quality for the amount you pay. Ultimately you are paying for the experience of cooking your own food, which is great, if the quality was just a little better. 7.6/10

This is a nice casual karoke restaurant and bar, the environment is always entertaining with always having to hear someone singing each time entering this place. The restaurant section is really nice as well, you can cook your own steak and order from their yummy menu. You must order before 9-9:30 PM, before the kitchen closes though. The bar section is alright as well but can be a bit too crowded over the weekends due to the karaoke viewing, there is no karaoke on Sundays. Overall it is a good place to go for casual entertainment 👌

My team enjoys coming here for lunch from time to time. We usually get there around 12-12:30 and it is not busy which we love. We get the grill your own steak and everyone always leaves very satisfied. We have made it a tradition to bring new hires here lol Great place and service.

Great watering hole with cheap cold beers and great cocktails plus great food! Nice staff and servers. Cook your own ribeye or NY steak on the charbroiler in the dining room! 21 and over but a fun local dig.

Street Tacos absolutely the best tacos I've had in a very long time! The service is great bartenders are on top of their game Steve has such a fun sense of humor! The atmosphere really cool music was great! Thanks and cheers!

Saturday night social.. older spot. Bar area and plenty of seats. Some good music and karaoke on a Saturday night. Mixed older and younger crowd $30 buckets of beer. The server recommended the Philly Cheesesteak.... Wow the flavor of the meat surprised my expectations. Delicious from the first bite. Fries were good lots of seasoning so perfect for my taste buds. You can also cook your own NY steak.

Came here last Sunday for lunch for my moms birthday... We had an amazing time! This is a bar and not a resuraunt. FYI... They are known for grillling your own steaks... The bartender Yesenia was amazing!!!!! She recommended the steak lunch special and made sure we were aware that we had to grill our own steak... Everyone there looked like there were having a great time... I was impressed by the excellent service received and had to come on here to write a review... It looked there was only 2 people working... Yesenia and a young man helping her... The two did an amazing job! 5 stars all the way!!! The bar was clean unlike other bars around here... Our dishes and glasses never stacked up on our table... We will be back soon on a Sunday again!!!! Yesenia Keep smiling! Thank you again!

Came here for their famous lunch special, cook yourself steak and the experience didn't disappoint. We were quickly welcomed and taken to the dining area which was brighter than the bar area which we came in through. Our group opted for the rib eye dinner cut instead of the New York lunch option, we quickly received our salad bowl and drinks. The salad bar is simple with various dressing options. The steak, bread, and baked potato arrived and it was time to grill. They have a section to marinate your steak and the grill is on for whenever you are ready. The waiter was around for questions. We did our best and to our surprise we did ok, no complaints for the chef. Definitely an experience to try.

OK this was an experience and I kind of signed up and I saw the entrance and read the reviews. I knew this would be really a step back in time...to the year 1957, to be precise. No grilled here just red meat and 'taters' and toast. The dimly lit kitschy interior was k in of fun..,. Reminded me of my alcoholic uncle. Bad Black velvet paintings and knights and armor, etc.

A very, very classic "old school" establishment (this place was old and well-established when I was a kid, many decades ago!) with a bar on one side serving "proper" cocktails and a dining room on the other with a unique twist. An absolutely excellent lunch spot which features a DIY large indoor grill where you cook your own steak, and it comes with salad and baked potato for a very reasonable price! Good, quick Service is provided by an "experienced" staff. And don't worry about screwing up your steak... they can cook it for you (but where's the fun in that?) or else they'll give you another one to try again. They also serve additional lunch items. Never been there for dinner, but I presume it's just as good as lunch. And as for ambience, the inside looks like somebody stopped the clock in 1950... seeing gentleman walk in wearing fedoras today would not be surprising! As I remember my first visit there as an eager but very young man, the bar used to be quite the hangout for the Homicide and Robbery Detectives from LAPD and LASD. I felt very honored to be invited there for a drink with "the boys". I then learned that I was found to be exceptionally useful when the check came! Definitely a locally famous place, and definitely worth trying!

I've always had a great experience at Venice room. Walked over from top golf with our leftover food in hand. Waitress Natalie told us to take our "Togo" box to the car yet we walked and the kitchen was closed. I tossed our food in their own trash cans and Natalie had the nerve to say I didn't see you get rid of your food. Keep in mind their kitchen was closed hours before I got there. Venice room be ready for a lawsuit. Your employee made us throw our food away yet there are no signs stating otherwise. Server Natalie should not work public service. Venice room owes me a meal for Natalie making us throw our own leftovers in Venice's rooms trash.

Stopped by to have a quick meal close to home. The food was good and my Frank Sinatra music was playing. Staff was great too.

Amanda Server Amanda is terrible. Ignored our table while coming by to the table next to us the whole night. It wasn't even that busy either. There was another server with a hand/wrist brace who was so nice. When Amanda went on break, the server with the brace came right by and asked if we needed anything. Bar tender told me her name is Amanda but I don't know if that is correct. She is the chunky one with the short pony tail. Amanda needs to find something else to do because she is not made for the service industry. I love the Venice Room but Amanda really os the only reason I will not be coming back. Bartenders were great. I got to know them well since I had to get up to get my food and drink orders in the whole night.

Kick ass place! Big biker bar feel but definitely an immersive experience. Really cool. Can't wait to go back.

Don't be fooled by the amazing food pictures, this place is actually a bar! During work my boss took us here for a quick lunch. They do check everyone's ID and requires you to be 21 and over. Ambiance in this place is dark and may be great for a date if you're a little nervous. Steve was a little hostile at first and we all learned that is his personality. He's quite friendly afterwards, don't be afraid to wave him down for something you need. Most of our staff ordered the Build-Your-Own Burger. I definitely would be coming back for it! You can taste the charbroiled flavor throughout the patty, it was juicy as well. They use brioche buns for their burgers which adds a hint of sweetness. The buns are grilled with the perfect amount of crisp. You're able to choose from American or Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled or raw onions, jalapenos, bacon and sautéed mushrooms. I had raw onions on mine for a bit of a crunch and the sautéed mushrooms had lots of flavor as well. I had my burger with a side of fries and their fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Had a really bad service because bartender expects a tip every time they serve you. They shouldn't expect it.I got banned for a two dollar tip.So because of that I always tell my friends and family members not to go..

Someone needs to train Natalie and security. Aside from her we have always had a warm and kind welcome at Venice room until today. Will consider going back if they teach their staff hospitality.

Great spot.. if you like to cook your own steak this is the place to go. They have also expanded their food menu with lots of options. They have. A full bar with friendly people. Steve, Noel, Haani everyone is great there. They have karaoke as well. They have a touchstones machine so you can play your own music.

Watch your bar charges. This place takes advantage of patrons and overcharges. Then.....when you question the overcharging management claims that the person had too much to drink. Shenanigans!!!!

Saw the old sign on the way to an appt and decided to return and have dinner before the long hour commute home. Walked in the back door and found a Dark old school bar restaurant just like I'd hoped. The places appeared to be filled with locals and families at 4:30. Red vinyl booths and old wall murals of Venice Italy just as I'd hoped for. The staff was really nice, even the bartender checking on me. I ordered an Impossible burger patty melt, baked potatoes and a Mai Tai. Sandwich was decent and the Mai Tai was not "top shelf " but Pretty much what I expected for an old school bar. Happy Hour only offers $1 off drinks but I'll take it. If you like experiencing great old school aesthetics then go here before it's gone! Also noticed a grand piano in the corner with seats at the edge so maybe they do piano sing alongs. Those were the days!!

I have been coming to the Venice Room for a 19 years. This is definitely my favorite bar. The vibe is super chill, friendly & old school. You have to try the steak dinner at some point - I highly recommend it. The karaoke feature is such a beautiful bonus here. Most importantly, the servers are stellar. My favorite server has been Yesenia... she knows what I want as soon as I walk in & she is quick and to keep them coming until I tell her that I'm done. Their food menu has come a long way & you cannot go wrong with the carne asada quesadilla (ask for green sauce.) their pizza is amazing, as are their tater tots. I hope I can continue going to this bar for many more years to come.

OK this is literally the West Coast version of Cheers. I've never seen a place where everybody says. Hi and bye to each other. The bartenders are great. The serving staff is very reliable. And I love the dark and calming vibe. I had their VR burger, which complements all the drinks I had. They have a grill where you can cook your own steaks, I'm definitely coming back here for a few first dates.

This was very nostalgic! This is a restaurant my parents went to when they were young. First time here, the restaurant was warm and cozy...The service we had, was great too! What a fun experience! You order your steak and cook it yourself... just the way you prefer...

This is not a family eating place like the pictures make it out to be. Very disappointing when we got there with our 18 year old son, and saw a sign outside saying "No persons under the age of 18 years of age allowed"!

Fun crowd and karaoke , the drinks are a great price . The crowd is cool and the patio on back is pretty chill, great place to go to cook your own steak and then sing your heart out. The crowd is a bit older so just be ready for that as well, I actually didn't mind it

Generally a fun place, down to earth people. But was double charged recently (paid cash & charged to card). When I tried to resolve issue, they each pointed me to the other person and ended up just taking the hit but won't go back. Their advice to me was don't drink (sober bartender knows best) and don't start a tab. Both seem unworkable at a bar.

They used to let you cook your own steak. Fresh thick cuts. Bar scene, in case you like that ambience.

This place is the biggest rip off and has gone down hill!! The old owners, the Lombardos, always took care of their customers and made sure they had a great experience. The new owners are greedy and horrible people!! Not to mention it smells like sewage in there!! It's hard to eat or drink when you are inhaling shit smells. It's dirty also, I'm surprised the health department hasn't fined them yet. The owner has been told to fix it and he makes excuses and it remains to have an odor of sewage. This is a health hazzard and numerous people have reported them. Be careful when you order food or drinks because they will overcharge you, or add an extra gratuity without you knowing. They nickel and dime everyone! The waitresses are told to rip off the customers..not cool! The prices on food have increased tremendously..again, GREED!!! The bartenders are not friendly and don't even try to engage with the customers. I am so disappointed in the service there. Not ever going back! The Venice Room needs new owners, then we will all come back!

Customer service and food are excellent! Jeff the bartender is very attentive and one of the best bartenders I have come across, your drink will not go dry. Food wise, I love the patty melt and pizza. Jeff and every waitress that works there are very friendly and will take care of everything, love this place but it can get very busy. Come early and stay late!

This place is awesome! Always a great time! Everyone is like family! The karaoke is so much fun! There are some really good singers also! Service always with a smile! Steaks are yummy too!

My son (just turned 18 years old), and I were going to meet up with my buddy to get some dinner at the Venice Room. When I parked in the handicap space next to the building, there was a paper sign taped to the wall which said, "No persons under 21 years of age allowed"??!! We were confused and disappointed because it didn't say anywhere other Yelp site that no one under 21 was allowed. Ittust be a joke! This is so misleading! We checked out this restaurant on Yelp before we headed to the restaurant, and the food looked great, but this happened, so we decided to go somewhere else. I would not recommend this restaurant as it's not a family restaurant. I thought that some big ass bouncer was going to check everyone's id cards to make sure everyone was legit, once we stepped inside! Just to eat dinner??!! No, thanks!

Friday night and got a 1 count drink. Beware if you're not a regular. Go elsewhere for a fair honest drink. Feel robbed.

This business has gone through several changes since the ownership change a few years ago most of which have been moderate to just a little below acceptable. There seems to be changes from one week to another that include staffing, cost of the drinks, what food offerings there are depending on the day, cleanliness of the establishment and the restrooms and, unfortunately, the general attitude when bringing up these negative situations to staff "I just work here". This is an amazing place that has history but attendance is declining. I hope that management puts in changes to bring people back instead of permanently barring a long time customer because she indicated a problem.

Good place for drinks and I love the self grilled steaks been going off and on over 30 years.. the steaks are perfectly marbelized BUT there's one bartender that for some reason has it in for me and 86d me once (refused to serve me)... yup I was drunk maybe a little loud but people on both sides of me we just as loud if not louder and no one was arguing we're all just laughing.. it's a Fn BAR! My friend even noticed it so I know it's not me... some a holes whether customers waiters or bartenders want to be center of attention idfk but I'll be back and I have to get aggressive if I'm singled out oh well. 5 stars for steaks but 1 star for service

I love the old fashioned nature of this place. It screams old LA, the walls have painted murals of Venice featuring black light paint. On Saturday they have karaoke. The drinks are affordable and the grill-your-own steak is a fun change of pace, and apparently very old Hollywood.

Love coming here. Parking is limited. Some of their parking is now used for their outside patio sitting area. This place is a small little local bar that also has a dining area where you can grill your own steak. I love to come here for date night and cook our steaks. We order it with the sides while comes with salad, baked potato, and garlic bread(frozen-need to place on grill as well). They have a nice intimate bar area as well. They do karaoke as well some times. The servers and bartenders are all very nice and accommodating whenever I have come.

The food was ok but what really did it for us was the service. Our waitress was the sweetest!

We love this place !!! You can cook your own steak! Carne asada nachos are bomb and I love getting drinks there ! It's our favorite go to bar and we love the server Jessica ! Also Karoke nights on Saturdays ! Doesn't get better than that !
