"Venkman’s is closing November 28 after seven years at its space on Ralph McGill in the Old Fourth Ward. But it appears the live music venue and bar could return to the property as part of a new development, the AJC reports. However, that return may not happen for at least two years." - Beth McKibben

"One time you hired a Journey cover band to follow your friend around all night singing “Don’t Stop Believing” every time someone bought them a shot. Instead of losing another friend this year, spend a night at Venkman’s. This restaurant and concert hall in Old Fourth Ward is owned by members of Yacht Rock Revue, a local ’70s and ’80s soft rock cover band. So order a pastrami sandwich or pulled pork tacos, before giving your full attention to belting out the lyrics to those Steely Dan, Toto, and Doobie Brothers songs." - Neal Cohen

I love, love, love Venkman’s! This is a such a cute location and they host a jazz jam on Wednesday nights from 7-10 hosted by Joe Gransden and it’s just a great vibe. As a singer the sound system is 🔥, 10/10 , ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It just has a great volume, tone, and it’s so fun and therapeutic to sing. (I know that’s a lot but it really is a great system. ) if you’re looking for somewhere to go and have a chill night with cool people I would definitely recommend taking a visit to Venkman’s. *on the Wednesday night jazz jam they don’t serve food just drinks at the bar, but you can bring in outside food if you like

My first time here for their Saturday night show (they have other nights and even a Sunday brunch). Bought the $35 cover charge online. The photos online showed tables and chairs and suggested to get there early for a table which are first come first served and "not guaranteed". However, for this night it was standing only (as forewarned, not guaranteed you'll get a seat) unless you reserved a group table. This seemed a bit deceptive and I think this should have been clearer on the website. Nevertheless, the show was fun and the place was packed (the reason the tables and chairs were put away). The house band Yacht Club is an accomplished 70's "tribute" wearing typical 70's clubbing clothes (tight bell bottoms, polyester shirts with big collars unbuttoned halfway, sunglasses, puka she'll necklace, etc.). Many in the audience are obviously loyal fans wearing similar garb and some with nautical caps. All in all the night was pretty fun and unique. The band played one long set.

Love the bottomless mimosas at Venkman’s. We’ve had brunch and dinner there on several occasions and overall have been pretty pleased with the food, but this time, a lot of things aren’t available and the food just felt rushed and hit or miss. I’m hoping it’s a one off, but with all the great choices around O4W, I’m not sure if it will be my first choice on the list. I do love the Venkman’s Griddle at brunch and really miss the cinnamon roll on the menu.

Google

They had live jazz . We did drinks. Bloody Mary okay. I had a she bangs. Also not the best but good.they serve coffee as well. Overall friendly staff great atmosphere and excellent food!

Google
Super cool place. We went for brunch and I was happy to see that they had live jazz music doing awesome pop covers. We started with Bloody Mary's were spicy and delicious. And I had the chicken and grits. The grits were very good.

Google
Did someone say bottomless mimosas + delicious food + live music? Venkman’s has it all. Hands down my favorite brunch spot in Atlanta.

Google
We went for Sunday Brunch. This place has a great atmosphere and exceptional wait staff! The food was great, very different than the southern breakfast so look at menu first. Very clean! Free parking lot!!

Google
Great venue, and the Wednesday Jazz Jam is unbelievable! Hosted by Joe Gransden, an amazing array of talent takes the stage. Great tacos and a nice beverage selection too. Inside and outside seating as well

Yelp
Went for the Sunday evening jam session and it was awesome! The kitchen is currently closed but they did have a lady who made chicken or beef burritos which was good. The drinks were ok but the music was fantastic. I will definitely be back when I am in Atlanta.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with friends on a Saturday afternoon. They have a parking lot, but there's also plenty of street parking surrounding the area. We didn't have reservations and even though the place was packed, we were seated pretty quickly. They have options for both inside or patio seating. There was a band playing music, loudly. After the band ended they played music on the speakers, pretty chill vibes. Our waitress was so great. She came over promptly and was super sweet and thorough in talking us through the menu since we'd never been there. We all got bottomless mimosas ($20!) and she was on point with keeping 'em coming. I was torn between the chicken and grits and the huevos rancheros, but ended up going with the latter at the waitress' recommendation. I was not at all disappointed and finished my whole meal. My friends both got the duck egg hash, which I tasted and was pleased. Our food was piping hot when it came out and our waitress checked if we wanted any additional condiments immediately. I have no complaints! Can't wait to come again and try more of the menu.

Yelp
I came here for the Latin Jazz orchestra band and definitely enjoyed myself. The band was amazing and very lively! The food and drinks were surprisingly good too! We ordered the smoked chicken that comes with collards and red skin mashed potatoes, the salmon with green beans and Brussels sprouts, the hanger steak over veggies, the lemon and garlic shrimp pasta, and the brownie and ice cream! The dishes were all tasty but the garlic shrimp pasta was sent back because it was bland and dry. The brownie and ice cream is reallllyyyy good! I definitely can't wait to come back in October for the next Latin Jazz orchestra night.

Yelp
Cool place! We went last night to hear our friend John Moye play a Tom Petty Cover set and had a cozy table near the front. The acoustics were great for being up close and having chill conversation. The food was good - the pretzels (get the Asiago) were warm and delicious, though serving could have been bigger. The fries were a delicious and just crispy enough pile of goodness. My Caesar with chicken was underwhelming- the amount of chicken for $6 was maybe 3 oz and it was otherwise almost all lettuce v cheese. Seems like a fun place if you're into cover bands in a laid back vibe.

Yelp
I've heard quite a few good things about Venkman's. My friends and I were really excited to go for our Sunday Brunch. We walked in and loved the patio seating and the atmosphere of the interior. They even had a live band that performed which was pretty cool. Other than the visual aspect, the rest of the experience was a let down. The service was extremely slow, the water was lukewarm, they didn't serve freshly squeezed OJ (most brunch spots do!), and they had very limited vegetarian friendly options. My friends and I have a few dietary restrictions and usually find restaurants to be accommodating, but not this one. When ordering, our waitress told us that the substitutions for our dishes were possible, but this wasn't the case as we found out later. Our tables' order was messed up FOUR times. One of my friends asked to sub out the bourbon salmon with smoked salmon (which we were told is possible). My friend does not drink and did not want bourbon cured salmon. Instead they brought out a dish with grilled CHICKEN. Once we complained, the waiters took it back and immediately came back with a BOURBON salmon dish. The timing was suspicious, and it seemed like they went back to remove the chicken and slap bourbon salmon in its place - which was kind of disturbing. After ordering her food, and being sent the wrong dish two times, she was finally told that the salmon dish could not be altered. Instead she went for the veggie skillet (they also messed up this order) which was "absolute trash" in her words. As for myself, I ordered the Chicken and Grits. Maybe we went on a bad day, but this dish did not live up to the hype of the other reviews. The chicken tasted old and had a strange smell to it, and the grits were way too mushy for me. I usually can't finish my meals and take the leftovers to-go, but I didn't even bother with this one. Would we go again? Absolutely not. TL;DR Don't bother wasting your money.

Yelp
I've been meaning to go here for years because it's one of the few places that still does bottomless brunch. They were very accommodating for our large birthday party and kept the mimosas flowing! I got the chopped salad and added shrimp. It was HUGE - I barely made a dent in it. Definitely a shareable size. The atmosphere was great. Bottomless is $22 which is on the higher end but if you just want a couple mimosas they're only $6 each.

Clarence L.

Yelp
Went for a Jazz session that wound up being an R & B, Nouveau, new artist showcase that was fun and entertaining. Had a fantastic time, only now kitchen open. There was some good food available but I really think the whole experience would be so much better with a open kitchen and drinks served. Need a bar run to fuel up, but the drinks were definitely finer.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and trivia on a Wednesday night. I had never been to Venkman's because every time I tried visiting in the past, the wait was too insane. (I hear they are very popular.) For food, we had the brussel sprouts and mussels. I really liked the flavor of the brussel sprouts but wasn't a big fan of the mussels. I think it had cheese in it which I thought was kind of an odd pairing. We didn't end up getting anything else because there were many things appealing to us on the menu. For drinks, my boyfriend got a few beers he liked. I forget the names.. but they do have quite a good selection. Trivia was fun. I believe they have different types of events throughout the week. It's a nice place to hang out and have a drink but I'm not sure I'm too enthusiastic about the food.

Dan G.

Yelp
Sunday brunch: if you don't want to catch up with friends at your table, this may be the perfect brunch spot for you. Either turn down the one-man karaoke, or give everyone else a microphone so they can hear each other. You don't need amplification when there are only 20 people in a 10,000 sf room. Food was good. Friendly service.

Evelyn Z.

Yelp
Great music, great food, great prices! Chilaquiles were a great portion and bottomless mimosas were always filled. I will definitely be back!

Will R.

Yelp
Still going strong! Menu has been expanded since the reopening and I'm glad to see things picking up here.

Yelp
Great spot for a weekend brunch, or even dinner with a show! First, in case you are reading this for the first time just looking at Venkmanns for the food, the main thing about the restaurant is that on the inside there is a stage for live music. Sometimes there is a theme (think 90's night and Alanis Morsette covers), sometimes its just jazz, sometimes its more yacht rock. In short, I would always make sure you check the schedule before you head in. I've been here a few times with larger groups - this is definitely a challenge. They have been able to accommodate, but if you don't have the time to dedicate to booking ahead and talking to them about exactly how many will be coming and at one time I would pass this spot up as an option for "walking in" with a group over 5 people. Food is decent, though I havent had anything to write home about but certainly always happy with the quality. Service can be a bit slow if the crowd is large, just depends on the event. If you come with the same expectations you would to go see a live band where food is offered as a plus - you won't be let down.

Natalie J.

Yelp
TLDR; Delicious food, wonderful staff, fantastic live music. Great spot for brunch just off the beltline! Sparkle and the whole Venkman's crew are super friendly and welcoming which made for an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend both the chicken Tinga and fish taco, along with the churros.

Annie L.

Yelp
Need to make reservations if you're planning on a fun day brunch on Sundays because this place can get packed! First off--concept is wonderful. Live music on the center stage accompanied with bottomless ($18) mimosas? SOLD. The food is also something worth mentioning. I ordered the burger and it was SO SUCCULENT. Perhaps one of the best burgers I've had. Brunch set me back $80ish for two meals and two bottomless mimosas (that's with tip) so it's not necessarily inexpensive but worth trying at least once.

Yelp
What a great spot for live music. Drinks were great and service was on point. Saw a band play a night of Stevie Wonder songs and the venue was perfect.

Rhonda B.

Yelp
I went on Wednesday to hear the house band play jazz and I was not disappointed these cats know how to swing. They are seasoned veterans with a little age but, they know how to entertain a room. They allowed visiting musicians (singers, drummers, trumpet, sax, guitar and piano) many where young lions and lioneses in college or high school who were invited onstage to showcase their talent, I was blown away with the passion and skill set of these musicians who played classic Cole Porter songs like they had been playing for years. Absoluted Impressed! I have to also acknowledge the mature sultry women of my age that graced the stage with a few song standards. I loved seeing grown and sexy women on stage doing their own thing. Lastly, their bartender Sparkle (She is sporting nice braids/dreads) is off the charts good @ what she does, I had two lemon drop Martini's that were outstanding. Order one when you visit and you will be equally pleased. P.S. don't forget to tip the musicians and bartenders well since there is no cover charge and the music is exceptional.

Yelp
I love brunch. I have been here a few times and, unfortunately, the experience has slowly gotten worse over time. On my most recent visit, I had brunch with 5 big guys. They seated us at one of the semi-circular booths in the back. The booth could probably fit about 6 food-deprived folks, but definitely not 6 healthy food-loving folks. Five of us fit comfortably while the sixth guy (about 6 ft 5 in) was hanging off the seat and had to put his arm around the guy next to him to keep from falling off. We arrived for brunch when the space was empty. I asked if we could move seats, but was told that the other larger tables were all reserved. By the time we left, the larger tables still sat empty. We started off with the Blueberry Ricotta donuts, Breakfast poutine, and Cheddar Drop biscuits. The donuts arrived first. They were almost black and looked like coal instead of fried balls of dough. They were definitely over-fried and burnt. More likely the guys in the back did not change the oil from the night before (which I'm sure was a busy Saturday night). The biscuits arrived second. They were definitely cheddary, but just ok. The breakfast poutine arrived shortly later. It was decently sized portion, but the breakfast potatoes suffered from the same problem as the donuts. They were overcooked, almost burnt tasting. For my entree, I had the Venk-fil-A sandwich. This was a fried chicken sandwich (two large chicken tenders) with Duke's mayo and lettuce. I probably should have changed my order to something non-fried after the appetizers came out, but I did not think about it. Sadly, my chicken was burnt to a crisp like the other fried items. The definitely cook everything in the same oil since all of our items were messed up. The crispy pieces of my chicken were falling off every time I took a bite. I finally gave up after a little bit because I couldn't take any more. Two of the guys got the Huevos Rancheros and seemed to like them. Two others got the Breakfast tacos. Both of them raved about how good the tacos were so they were definitely a hit. The last guy had the Tall Boy breakfast. He ate everything on his plate so I think it was good. Or he was hungry. Hard to tell. They used to offer this amazing bread/pastry platter that featured this amazing savory bread pudding. I still have dreams of this savory bread pudding. Sadly it is no longer on the menu so there's really no reason for me to return here for brunch. Why settle for a mediocre brunch when there are so many way better options nearby?

Felicia B.

Yelp
Great music Small venue, 6 bar stools at bar for General Admission and then just standing up. Food well seasoned. Brussel sprouts were slightly crispy and a tad too tender for me but were ok. The crispy ribs were the best. The chicken wings my husband thought were too salty. The Peartini was good. He liked his Long Island. I would've ordered the Old Fashioned as I heard it was good but since I was drinking vodka I decided to try it another time. Went tonight to hear the Atlanta Latin Jazz Orchestra, who were phenomenal!! Tonight's renderings: I had to order a mojito with Latin music! ir was so good I ordered another! ‍ I just wish they offered flavors. I could've had some muddled strawberries or mangoes but was told they had nothing to make a flavored one with. Oh well. They were delish nonetheless. The smoked 1/2 chicken is juicy, flavorful, & full of smoke flavor. The greens had too much vinegar. I substituted the fires for the smashed potatoes. The smell of the fires was too good to pass up after getting a whiff of the woman's fries at the next table. They were crispy and fried to perfection! The brownie is not to be missed! You get 2 rich brownies, a small scoop of ice cream, & yummy rich caramel! It had a buttery flavor that you have to taste to believe! I love this dessert but could only manage 1 brownie because it was so rich. I can't wait to have the other tomorrow if my husband or son don't beat me to it. ‍

Yelp
Reason for my visit here: free Tuesday Jazz, a weekly event. Added bonus - they have a full menu and a full bar, if you decide to dine here while listening to some awesome music. Parking is confusing as there is a sign for "Venkman's out back" but the next turn has a "Do not enter" sign. I'm still not sure where exactly their parking is but luckily there's plenty of it on the street. The entrance is through their patio, which isn't popular in winter but it houses 3 large green eggs and suggests possible green egg food specials (not during my visit though). The host desk is located to the right as you enter and the entire venue is wide open so you can see it all right away. I really like the cozy, romantic, and surprisingly intimate atmosphere here, in spite of all of the tables and entertainment. It does not feel crowded at all, even with all tables taken. The candles help, too ;). One of the walls has been turned into a picture gallery and some of the art pieces are quite fun to look at and unconventional. There truly isn't a bad seat in the house; you can see the stage from every table. Jazz starts and 8 pm but they begin warming up around 7:45. The venue fills up quickly, especially after 8 pm so definitely make reservations. The menu "looks" like it has plenty of options to chose from.. Unfortunately I had a very hard time selecting dishes as upon further investigation most dishes are deep fried/heavy. The specials that night were cheese dumplings, fancy ass cheese dip, and fettuccine with fried corn bread. Someone really likes their cheese here ;). Items we ordered: - Maple Roasted Squash described as - Burrata, Basil and Marcona Almond Pesto, Lemon, TGM Ciabatta ($17); - Fennel Shrimp - Savannah Shrimp, Melted Fennel Broth, Cioppolini Onions, Tokyo Turnips, Oyster Mushrooms, Braised Green Aioli, Ciabatta ($17); - Crunchy Salad - Farro Verde, Arugula, Bread and Butter Fennel, Pickled Butternut Squash, Carrots, Radish, Toasted Sunflower Seeds, Dill, Citrus Vinaigrette ($10). The squash was nothing like I expected - 2 squash halves stuffed with burrata. The dish came out EXTREMELY greasy, with grease dripping all over the wooden board it was served on. I honestly didn't even care to try it, it was so unappealing. Just 2 globs of grease.. The fennel shrimp and the crunchy salad had better luck. I actually quite enjoyed both. Shrimp wasn't overcooked and the veggies in the dish were still crunchy. Same for the salad; I'd order both again if I had to eat here. The Jazz itself was awesome! Definitely worth just coming out for the show. You can also bring your own instrument and join in, if you are musically inclined. Nobody uses sheet music here and just jams off each other. Overall: great music and service, full bar, patio, bar style menu (imo), street parking. I will definitely be back but eat else where prior to the show.

Yelp
Venkman's, a date worthy establishment where the vibe and energy is infectious. Right on the edge of O4W in a location that couldn't be any better. Having grown up in the area, I recall the days when the establishment was a flower nursery. How well did Venkman's flip it! The Food - I've been for brunch and dinner. The menu has its variety of mostly southern influenced delights. Dinner wise, roasted trout with a grilled corn medley is my go to. But the fried chicken was good as well as the shrimp and grits. For appetizers all I ever get are the trout beignets and never needed to get anything else. For brunch I do Big Ass Sticky Buns with the Champagne Breakfast (traditional biscuit, eggs and sausage breakfast with Miller High Life to wash it down). Nothing I've ordered to date has let me down. The Drinks - I'm starting to see a rising trend for frozen drinks and I would venture to say that Venkman's is on the leading edge of the trend. I've tried the frozen beer shandy, Ecto Cooler and The Varsity. Each themed appropriately. Ecto Cooler, for my Ghostbusters fans, is a green colored frozen beverage that's actually inspired by a Hi-C beverage made back in the late 80's with Slimmer as the figure head. The Varsity is or was a spiked frozen orange treat much like what you would taste at the The Varsity except with a hit of vodka. Lastly, bottomless mimosas on brunch days is a must as well. The Music - It's too easy and typical to put on Spotify or Pandora and hit repeat. Live music is where it's at. This is what turns Venkman's into a top tier date worth establishment. Rock on! You'd make a very wise decision by choosing Venkman's. No doubt.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday morning with the little ones for the Frozen sing-along brunch. Unfortunately, the wife was on a girls' weekend, so I did not have my DD to enjoy the bottomless Mamosa's. Be sure to call ahead of time to reserve a table, as the place fills up pretty quickly. I recommend showing up around 1030 as the movie starts on time. The staff was gracious and attentive. The kid's chocolate chip pancakes come with milk and that's it. We ended up splitting a single order (3 6" pancakes) and a side of sausage links and fruit which worked out well. I had the breakfast tacos which were generous in their portion. I feel that three was too much for me and ended up skipping on one of the tortillas. Be sure to ask for a side of hot sauce if you like it spicy. In the future, I might consider fresh jalapeños if they have them. The prices are otherwise pretty reasonable, parking might be an issue if you're not lucky enough to score a spot outside. I would consider making this a regular routine every other month or something. The best part is that the adults were generally able to chat and enjoy each other's company as the kids were distracted by the movie. Mine were reasonable enough and ate with occasional direction. This may not work if your kids have trouble eating and watching TV at the same time. There really wasn't much singing together as I was expecting‍.

Mick D.

Yelp
I've visited Venkman's twice for brunch. The first time was a really pleasant experience. The second was somewhat frustrating. And to some degree, we set up the wrong expectations for our second visit. The first time, we sat at the bar. A friend of ours was singing, and it was easy to hear each other AND hear our friend perform. The second time, the musical scene was different, and it made conversing with our group of friends very difficult. Frustratingly difficult. So our lesson learned: Go for the performance--if you want to talk to your friends, find someplace quieter. But you should definitely go for the show. And both the food and the service have been reliably good. Everything Venkman's does is built around live music. And they have an active and varied calendar of all kinds of music coming through the place. It's very much worth the visit if you find an act you like and go to enjoy it. Go for dinner and a show. Absolutely. As I said, the food was good. Chef creates a sort-of modern take on Southern Comfort specialties. Things like the Blueberry Ricotta Donuts, the Duck Egg Hash, and the Vegetable Omelette of the Moment stand out to me. My friends seemed to really enjoy the corn meal pancakes. And everyone certainly enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. I will happily be returning to Venkmans. Next time I'll go for dinner. Let's see what's on the calendar. Holler if you're coming with.

Heather Q.

Yelp
Loved this place!! They were SO accommodating to me making my own meal and it was great! I had the pulled pork tacos, collards (AMAZING), and mashed red potatoes. Our server was super nice and quick. They also have Trivia Night on Wednesday's and it was so much fun. Great place!

Hannah W.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for dinner last Friday night around 7:30pm and was able to get a table (but reservations are highly recommended). Venkman's is located in this warehouse looking building across from Bantam. The inner space of this warehouse is split so you won't see Venkman's if you're trying to find it on the street (located on the inner side of the building). We ordered the pickle board which had tomatoes, squash, and radish with BBQ chips and green chili cheese. Although this is a good starter, the pickled items were very sour (too pickled). The green chili cheese dip helps balance out the flavor a little, but we couldn't eat too many of the pickled items. We also got the Smoked Chicken Wings, Smoked Trout Beignets, and Shrimp and Rice Grits. The chicken wings were alright, but I was not impressed by the beignets and grits. You couldn't taste the smoke trout in the beignets and it just felt like a ball of mushiness. The shrimp and grits had a texture like congee and the sauce they had over the grits was really strong and almost too overpowering. I wouldn't say the food here is the best, but the nice thing about Venkman is the stage/entertainment they offer while you dine.

Danny B.

Yelp
The chicken n' grits is awesome here! I'd say it's definitely the best thing on the menu. I play here for Saturday brunches and I'd have to say it's probably one of the best spots in Atlanta for listening to live music. They are well known also for their bottomless mimosas. It's a must try if you are in the area!

Kiyah G.

Yelp
One of my favorite local artists was playing at Venkman's so I purchased a table for 4 online. The instructions stated that we should plan to be seated at 8:45 on but we arrived early and were seated immediately. Within minutes we were greeted by our server and drink recommendations were shared. We started with the pimento grit cakes and a glass of cava. For the main course, I had the salmon with smashed red potatoes and collards. My hubby had the smoked half chicken. Both entree portions were sized well and the food was above average. The performance was amazing and we enjoyed the ambiance and sound system. We will definitely at Venkman's to our date night rotation.

Shawnte J.

Yelp
First time to this spot for Sunday brunch. We were originally told there would be an hour to hour and half wait for a table for 4 at 1:30 pm. I placed our name in the list and literally 5 minutes later we had a table ready. Our table all ordered the Tall boy for breakfast and my friend ordered it with sausage. The sausage was cold and by the time the waiter came to our table the bottomless mimosas had expired and we are unable to order. The biscuits were a little well done, but the jam was good. There was a lot of eggs and potatoes on the plate to get you full. I may have to try this place out on another day. I was not overly impressed with the food or service. Our waiter was nice but not as attentive due to have a larger table next to us.

Sepideh Z.

Yelp
So I had to come here for a jazz course I was taking and it was my first time going to a live jazz show. I'm pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised. On Tuesdays they have a no cover charge "Joe Gransden's Tuesday Night Jazz Jam" which is a live jazz jam with volunteers from the crowd going up to participate. It was fairly packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Everyone is so incredibly talented there and a 17 year old named Isaiah who plays the saxophone blew us away!! He's amazing! I ordered the grilled cheese that came with tomato soup and it was so yummy! I wanted a Blue Moon but they didn't have any so the bartender suggested Oberon and it was pretty good. We also ordered the fries and it was enough for the 4 of us. My friend order the scoop of ice cream for $2 because she thought it would be something special but it was just literally a scoop of vanilla ice cream and she could have easily paid $3-4 for a pint or larger at the grocery store. Overall, we enjoyed the music more than the food so we came 2 more times and just got drinks. On Tuesdays their bottles of wine are half off though!

Leigh N.

Yelp
I'll start off with the good- live music inside, shaded dog-friendly patio, and a private lot (parking can be difficult in this area). The bad - the service was slow and the food was horrible. The French toast was basically deep-fried bread coated in sugar (no egg) and the potatoes were also deep fried and overdone. Mimosas were average. Would not return.

Morgan N.

Yelp
Sparkle & the whole Venkman's team is amazing! The best spot on the belt line and the best service without a doubt!

Carly L.

Yelp
Venkmans is one of my favorite brunch spots. I love a good jazz brunch so Sunday's are my fave! You can look at the event calendar and make a reservation ahead of time so you don't have to wait. The best part of their brunch is the bottomless mimosas for $19. We had a giant sticky bun and whoa was it yummy! We ordered it as an appetizer so everyone in our group of 6 got a couple of bites. I ordered the chicken and grits and I've been dreaming about it ever since! Creamy grits paired with spicy chicken, pico, avocado and an egg. The only reason this is not a 5 Star review is that our waiter definitely had a chip on his shoulder and was very rude. So 1 star service with 5 Star food. There is no official parking so you have to park on the streets nearby.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 7 for Sunday Brunch and was very pleased that they were able to accommodate the extra two people who tagged along, as our original reservation was for 5 people. However, I was not pleased with the customer service as the meal continued nor the saltiness of their duck hash. I personally thought it was too much and could not finish it despite still feeling hungry. My friends also seemed dissatisfied with their meals--just seems like their dishes didn't deliver for us. Though my recollection could honestly be clouded by the awful customer service we received. To start, I will say the customer service was initially decent. It really took a dive when the restaurant started to fill up and the jazz band went on. My party had already finished eating for awhile and we kept looking for our server with no luck. After about 20 minutes of waiting, we finally see him but then he ducks and avoids our table. I'm not sure why considering we just wanted to pay and leave but my friend had to go and approach him to ask for our checks. He then proceeded to be very rude to her about our checks even though she had offered to help him split the check correctly. He scoffed at her and then proceeded to brush her off. We waited and watched him duck back to other tables throughout the restaurant (I think he had some outside on the patio and inside?) but he never went near a cash register or came back to us. My friend finally approached him again with our cards in hand to ask him to just run them by seat considering we had waited so long already (probably about 40 minutes at this point) and were ready to leave. He seemed flustered and I was confused why management wasn't around to help him if he was struggling this much. We finally pay our tabs which were incorrect but at that point, we didn't care because we were so frustrated with waiting and already running late to our next endeavor. Disclaimer: we've all worked in restaurants before and can understand how stressful it gets when its busy but this level of unprofessionalism and disregard was just over the top. It really put a damper on the whole day, and hence why I had to dock my review to two-stars. I will happily not return here, even for the puppet show which came recommended by the folks who led us here to begin with. I don't recommend it to anyone interested in brunch unless they start to properly staff the restaurant and/or management can be made more available. I don't want to give them one-star, but honestly I do feel like that would accurately describe my dining experience. I'm hoping it was a fluke but with the lack of disregard this server had, it unfortunately makes me think it may be more of a standard.

Yelp
The food and drinks are ok. The service was fine. This is not a safe space. Completely understand that establishments have no control over the customers, but putting this out there for my LGBTQ family. We were here for an 80s comedy night that included a couple of queer comedians. We were subjected to several instances of hate speech from the other patrons. They were loud, obvious and often with their comments. I'm surprised the staff were not aware of what was happening, but again...not their responsibility to police other customers. Sorry Venkman's...we will not be back because we do not feel safe in your space.

Yelp
Nice venue. Great drinks at reasonable prices. Trapp Jazz Bank was good. Meal Menu not up to par. Had a great time

Yelp
The service is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. No better place for a weekend brunch. We love the live music too! Sparkle is the best waitress in the world!!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit Venkman's for the 101.1 FM Smooth jazz radio station's one year anniversary. It is a nice size place with communal tables that seat 10-11 people, depending on whether you put. Chair at the end of the table. The menu is a decent Limited menu, and as a vegetarian I was able to find something to eat (grill cheese and tomato soup.) The serving size was filling for me, not sure that a larger appetite wouldst have ordered more. My date ordered Brussels sprouts - and ate them all, Ive had better. The dry is were average price and the Pinot noir was of a good quality. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. With stage taking up one I third of the room - every seat was a good one. In fact, sitting in front might have been too close. The acoustics were great and I couldn't help but wonder why I hadn't been there before to see other jazz performers. One look at the past line up (posted in the ladies room) told the story - they don't feature artiste that generally draw a diverse crowd. Its a nice place. I can only hope that they will expand to offer more of variety of artists. Only time will tell. WJZA featured a good variety of jazz artist - check their website - all of whom were great!

Yelp
Great food and ambience. I always enjoy myself when I come here for brunch or dinner. It's a cute date night spot but normally the atmosphere is loud ! Check out more on my foodie Instagram @eat_monnie

Yelp
My friend and I went here for the pre show which is free the coverband was really good and it was so nice to have it in the background while we conversed. i would give it a 5 stars for great atmosphere! The food was great too! we loved the pimento grit fritters it was bomb! the only reason i gave it 4 stars was because my friend and i both got the same drink the pear-tea like its 1999 and while my tasted really good hers had way too much ginger it in which made it overwhelming

Yelp
We went here with a group of eight girls for a birthday brunch. The service and food were both great and left everyone very happy. There was live music so a little loud but also made for a fun ambiance when coupled with the bottomless mimosas. Definitely recommend for big groups.

Yelp
Went there for a music show. The acoustics are terrible - I'll never be back. Others in party said food was meh.

Yelp
I was in town for a couple of days for a music festival and my friend and I were looking for a place that offered Saturday brunch with bottomless mimosas which proved to be a tougher task than we thought it would be. We were fortunate enough to find this place and made reservations about a week ahead. We were there pretty early for brunch and found out that they do a puppet show for kids on Saturday mornings so not only did we enjoy brunch, we also got to enjoy the hilarious puppet show and even enjoyed some live music from the act that followed. Service was outstanding, specially considering how busy the place was. Our waiter made sure our mimosas kept flowing and that made us very happy. The wait for the food was not long since we requested for the food to be brought as it was ready. What We Ordered: -Blueberry Ricotta Donuts: These were more like big donut holes that were deep fried. They were ok, a little too greasy for my liking. The lemon curd it was topped with was topped with was delicious. -Jose's Breakfast Tacos: We were a little skeptical about these but ordered them anyway and I'm so glad we did! These tacos were bursting with flavor! The pico tasted so fresh and the salsa verde gave it a nice little kick. Definitely a must try! -Chicken and Grits: Too good. Shredded chicken is this delicious red chile sauce, along with fresh avocado, pico de gallo, cotija cheese and a poached egg on top of grits? It really doesn't get much better than that. My mouth is watering just reminiscing about it. - Sour Drop Biscuits: These were nice and warm right of the oven. So delicious. We used them to sop up the taco toppings that had fallen out of tortillas earlier and I don't think my life has ever been the same since then. We took the left over biscuits home and made some killer breakfast sandwiches the next day with them. I enjoyed my experience at Venkman's from beginning to end. Service and food were great and I look forward to visiting again whenever I'm in Atlanta again!

Yelp
We are basically regulars at Venkmans right about now...and it's mainly because of the music. The person in charge of getting the awesome cover band gigs lined up, knows just what my demographic wants. Music from our youth (played not too loud), reasonably priced tickets, tables, interesting food, quality drinks, all in a non smoking environment! The bands we have seen include Saved by the Band, The Smith's cover band, Blondie cover band, REMakes, Beastie boys cover band, Yacht Rock R, and others. The only complaint I can think of is they sometimes run out of fries at the end of the night, and the manager never called me back after I inquired in person about fundraising last fall. We will continue to frequent this venue if they continue to book great live music. Well done.

Yelp
I've never been here so this was my first visit. And I like the vibe it gives off. Live music, intimate atmosphere, hip neighborhood. Gives off a gentrified Brooklyn vibe except with better parking...sort of. Get there at a decent time to park in the small parking lot. Bottomless mimosas are overpriced. I swear it tasted like nothing but orange juice. I drank about 3 glasses and absolutely got not even a slight buzz. Will never order that again. Food was also overpriced as it was decent. Good but not that good to pay $13 for a skillet of potatoes and cheese. Salmon and a bagel with cream cheese for $14 is laughable. However, my biggest disappointment seriously was the mimosa as it is really high price orange juice. Also, the poutine (potatoes, cheese, and bland mushroom gravy)was supposed to have Frank's maple, a combination of syrup and hot sauce. Tasted nothing of the sort and ended up adding hot sauce to it myself. The cheese was also supposed to be melted and it wasn't. I really think you're paying for the atmosphere and location here. Service was decent and as to be expected based on how busy it was. Server was friendly and didn't seem to hate his job. That's always a plus. I've heard it's kid friendly but can't speak on that because there were no kids there. Band was decent. Very summer country music. Liked it. I'd go again for the ambience and order real alcohol instead the next time.

Yelp
No one can get drinks tonight without getting up and asking for one. I just got up and asked the bartender for two beers for the band. They have been asking for 20 minutes. I can't imagine the money they would make if they proactively stopped by the table and asked if we would like another. For a reference, we are just on a second drink and it's harder to get a server to stop by than getting the first one.

Yelp
I went here for a pre day Galentine cocktail, dinner and jazz with Helen. I've been wanting to come here for a long time now and heard about it repeatedly by some of my picky foodie friends. Cocktails are great here. They're serious and packed with flavor and alcohol. I got the "Brandy, you're a fine drink"- calvados, Le Pere Jules, cranberry syrup and egg white. In addition to being gorgeous (with little hearts on top), it's got a bitters (not bitter, bitters)complex flavor but with more depth texture-wise with the egg white. I'd order this one again! Helen got a "boy named Sue" which was mezcal joven, combier kümmel and heering cherry. This is a smoky, complex and strong drink. Nice but I preferred my drink. The food was great. I loved the perfectly cooked skirt steak with nice parsnips and shishito peppers and thought the brussel sprouts were wonderful - just the right amount of carmelized edges with hibiscus pickled shallots and tasty sauce on the edges of the dish. We shared these dishes and later got the bread of the day, a herb focaccia with lots of yummy herb butter. It was a jazz jam night and with lots of local musician drop ins who sang, played sax, flute, etc. No charge for music - some nights there is - and we enjoyed it. I will be back. I recommend this place - my foodie friends were right as they often are!

Yelp
Awesome brunch, but the ambience and music was the best. Was able to reserve a big table last minute for a Sunday brunch no problem. Really grateful, will be back to listen to more great music soon!

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a couple of girlfriends. The atmosphere here was great! I really enjoyed the live band. Our server (Danny?) was very nice and accommodating as well. I got the chicken and grits and doughnuts. Doughnuts were super delicious -- not too sweet and balanced well with the lemon curd. Chicken and grits were just as good -- super creamy and chicken had lots of flavor. The main star of the show were the bottomless mimosas. Danny made sure our glasses were consistently filled lol I'd definitely try this place again.

Yelp
This is a great, local, unique hidden gem in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward. They have an open concept, warehouse/industrial feel dining room with a large stage on one side that utilizes the space perfectly with live music. They also have a patio outside for dining. It can be a little loud if you are trying to have a conversation, but the musicians do break. You can check their website for future scheduled performances. We went for Saturday brunch. They asked if we had a reservation, we were told we didn't need one, and they were able to seat us, but maybe would be a good idea in the future to make one. The brunch menu was a little small, with about eight options, but they did also have an a la carte menu with side items. That being said, the portions were generous and you will not leave hungry. I had the Champagne breakfast which included sausage or bacon, breakfast potatoes, eggs any way, a sour cream biscuit and Miller High Life was a $2 add-on so of course I did that along with the bottomless mimosas. The sausage was a little spicy, I liked it, but not for everyone. The eggs were bland, and the biscuit and potatoes were delicious. The service was a little slow, but our waitress also was sat a large table of 12 along with her other tables. It wasn't her fault, just could have used a little more staff. She was friendly, personable and down to earth. I would definitely come here again and try something else or at dinner time for other options.
