One of the City’s Top Bakeries Just Opened a Midtown Cafe — and More Openings - Eater NY

"Park Slope: The shuttered Santa Fe Grill has returned under new ownership and a new name: Santa Fe Veracruzano. It serves the same menu of Tex-Mex dishes and has most of the same staff as the original 34-year-old restaurant." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

We were looking for a good taco spot around astoria, and there was none, but then we came across this lovely place, called Veracruzano, decided to give it a try. And let me tell you, it was one of the best tacos we ever had! The place is so clean, portions are big, fresh and delicious! The owner is a very cool guy! We've already gone twice to this place, and now, this is our taco spot to go to! Highly recommend 👌

Such a cute little place and the food was DELICIOUS!!! Up there with some of the best tacos I’ve had. The service was fantastic as well, we felt so welcomed. I’ll definitely be returning.

The food was tasty, beef in beef quesadilla was a bit tough but other than that the food was overall good. Quantity was larger than I thought. The restaurant is casual and nothing fancy but the server was really sweet and I enjoyed the experience.

Delicious tacos in a clean and authentic little restaurant in Astoria. The al pastor was the real star of the show, but all the tacos we got were generous and bursting with flavor in all the right proportions. Quick, friendly service.

Not a big place but a nice size especially in Astoria by the train. Place is clean. The veggie taco was great. Just wanted a snack on the run. Fresh, made right then. Service was awesome even with my little order. Wanted to try this place and I’m definitely coming back.

These might be the best tacos I've had in NYC. Super flavorful. Tried chicken, carnitas, al pastor, and beef. All 4 were actually amazing. Service was top notch too. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

This is a small joint with amazing and flavorful food. The meals are very generous and always happy with what I order. Staff is professional and very welcoming. This time I ordered the chicken and beef fajitas. I always leave a happy custumer!

Google
Best Mexican restaurant in Astoria! No other place gives big portions the way Veracruzano does. Everything is fresh, flavorful and tasty and you can definitely tell it’s made with love. It’s a family owned restaurant and the customer service is always great. I swing by every week to eat and try new menu options and it never disappoints. Tacos de chorizo with guacamole are my most favorite, their tamales de mole and green salsa are also really good and filling. Their tortas are huge! And their dishes always give nice presentations. I can go on and on about everything I’ve tried but If you are looking for authentic flavors, this is the place 🫶🏼

Yelp
The value is clear, inexpensive yet decent Mexican food, unfortunately it's not great Mexican food, it just does the job well for NYC. The enchiladas are tasty and have great flavor, huaraches very good, all the pork we had was good and the shrimp well prepared. Nothing however will blow you away. It's all decent Mexican food, and the price is what is keeping it acceptable.

Yelp
What got me in the door? They have sopes on their menu!! I opted instead for a huarache and was not disappointed. Great service. They even made husband a version of some gringo tacos that don't exist on their menu. Food was delicious. Sauces were not blow your taste buds off spicy but added good flavor to the dish. There might be 7 tables in the whole place. Not a great spot for large groups but still worth the trip.

Yelp
This review is only for one taco order experience though is be willing to try other things in the menu SERVICE 5/5 When you walk in there are plenty of takeout menus to the right on a table, so I grabbed a menu to take a look at since I wanted to know what to order before waking up to the counter. The owner was very nice and came up to me while I looked at the menu and asked if I needed help or had any questions. I asked if he had any recommendations in terms of tacos and he recommended the shrimp taco. I did note that they had a lot of fish and shrimp options on the menu but I'm allergic to shrimp so I asked him what else he would recommend. He asked what I liked and then recommended the al pastor and said that if I like grilled chicken he could also have it cooked with onion and tomato to add some more moisture and flavor to it so it's not just plain grilled chicken. I asked about the bistec which he also said they offer cooking with onion so it's mixed with grilled onion. He took my order from there and said it would be about 5 minutes. SEATING There were a good number of tables inside that could sit several groups of 4 for families inside and it looked like there was some outdoor seating as well. I took a seat near the counter while waiting for my food. It was 3pm so it was an awkward kind is quiet time to come in. FOOD ~3.6/5 So for the tacos I feel like I could rate individual elements on their own. First, I appreciate that on the side they come with lime, radish slices, and some shredded lettuce. I had guac added to each for an additional 50¢ * GUAC, 4/5 - Solid guac! Had enough salt, was not watery, and had some chunky pieces just how I like it. Could only only be better if it was freshly made but that only really happens when restaurants make it tableside * CORN TORTILLA 3/5 - So I know it's weird to rate the taco tortilla, but I noted that the corn tortillas seemed a little thicker than I'm used to and it might be that maybe they weren't toasted on the griddle like other places, but that felt like it impacted the overall feel of the taco itself ((this seems like an easy fix though!)) * POLLO (grilled chicken) Taco, 3.5/5 - I think you need to take grilled chicken for what it is, just grilled chicken. I usually don't just get a chicken taco unless I'm trying to be healthier (which I am at the moment). I did appreciate that it had the extra onion and little bit of tomato cooked with it though but the guac on top really helped carry it as well as adding lime and the verde sauce they give on the side with it. * AL PASTOR (pork w/ pineapple chunks) 4/5 - definitely more flavorful than the pollo, which is too be expected. I'm glad I saved it for last. The pork was tender versus some places the cook really dry. OVERALL it like other reviews really enjoyed this place for other foods besides their tacos and not for just grilled chicken so I'd definitely be interested in trying other things of the menu! Unfortunately I'm allergic to shrimp and not a big fish person and that seems to be their specialty but I'm come back for some pork dishes!

Yelp
Spicy tomatillo, well-cooked shrimp and great service. Tortilla chips can taste a bit stale at times but wonderful meals.

Yelp
Veracruzano is the latest Mexican rendition to inhabit that address. When I went there in November, they offered a standard Mexican menu full of beans, rice, and platters of the usual wrapped flavors. eg, burritos, tortillas and quesadilla. I ended up ordering the chicken quesadilla. The quality is not outstanding, but it is satisfying with reasonably good service. Overall, it was filling but not worth a 2nd visit.

Yelp
This place is very nice and clean. The food is excellent and the price is very fair. Definitely a hidden gem in Astoria area.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I always stop here for some well-priced authentic Mexican food. The owner is always incredibly nice. This time we got the chuletas con nopales and tostadas con pollo. Everything was incredibly tasty.

Yelp
To preface, the food and service were okay. Stopped by to grab a few tacos around 10pm. The menu shows $4.50 for tacos and pictures a plate of three tacos. I asked the worker for clarification on how many tacos you get in a single order and was under the assumption it was three. I ordered a plate of pollo and Al pastor. I thought I would be charged $9 for two orders at $4.50/each and was actually charged $30 for the six tacos. To note: I received carnitas instead of Al pastor.

Yelp
Delicious food cooked fresh. The chuletas were excellent, the whole fish fantastic. The cactus imported in from Mexico! I have to go back for the fresh jugo de tamarindo. I got the jarrito! Ricardo who works there is a great guy and super helpful. My best to him and his Family from me and my mom! He remembered my mother who always comes in without me, for the enchiladas. I will stop back in, for sure. They are right under the train, super convenient, and across from the M60. I ate in. Place is cute and clean as a whistle. You will be glad you came!
