We had such a great experience at Veritable on the UES! The staff was so friendly and attentive and Tony made us feel right at home. He had great recommendations based on what we like. First, we tried the hot meals and they were delicious. The Brisket specifically was one of the best I’ve had. We also tried the salmon which was so fresh and delicious. The ingredients are made fresh daily and you can tell! For sides, we tried the Mac and cheese and the quinoa, which We would highly recommend. The highlight of our meal came when we tried the rainbow stuffed cookies. We will be back very soon!

A casual place to enjoy a light lunch or a good coffee and a snack. You can also design your own salads. Service is friendly.

Foods are simple but delicious, coffee is nothing special but the cheese pocket is to die for. Other foods are also delicious .The place is nice and clean . Workers are always with smile.

Last time I was here I raved about the everything flat bagel w/ cream cheese and lox, today they sampled a lavender honey latte… it was amazing flavorful and not too sweet.

Google
Veritable NYC makes the perfect take-out. It’s healthy, perfectly cooked, and so satisfying. I love the huge selection of veggies and the brisket is to die for!

It will do in a pinch however if your a tourist and not a regular it's hard to figure out just how things are suppose to work. By accident I paid for someone else's dinner. Chicken was dry.

Yelp
Discover an incredible spot for genuine Brazilian cuisine that has been delighting taste buds since the late 1800s. I relished their chicken fillet with perfectly seasoned rice and beans, accompanied by freshly cut fries. Each dish was a testament to their commitment to using the freshest ingredients and crafting meals to perfection.

Yelp
I am staying next door for a week and was recommended to come here. I was pleased to see their "A" rating from the Board of Health when I walked in. The staff was super friendly. They have a few premade sandwiches that looked delicious and when I didn't see one that matched the description that I wanted, the guy behind the counter said he would make me another one right away, and he did, and it is delicious! Fresh carved turkey, grapes, thinly sliced apples, honey mustard and provolone on crispy bread heated up. The cappuccino is delicious. My dining companions were also pleased with their salads and bowls. I will be coming here every day all week!

Leena R.

Yelp
Sad they are permanently closed because their food was pretty good and good service so open up and I don't know what's going to be there again

Peter K.

Yelp
Have been coming to this place for several years now but not sure if I will ever go back after the rude behavior by the employee behind the salad counter today. Think twice before you finanacially support this establishment.

Manjinder B.

Yelp
Food is good, lots of variety. All day breakfast. The service could be better. They won't have patience for you if you have a family. It's almost like they don't want your business. I would have returned for a few days because I liked the food.

Yelp
There should be a zero stars option. DO NOT under any circumstances order from this place if you want to be charged money for food that is NEVER delivered and be treated like trash in the process (don't complain later, you've been warned). I decided to give this place a chance and ordered from them for the VERY FIRST time via Seamless. What a miserable mistake that was. Of course, the order NEVER arrived, and of course, when I called to inquire about the order an incredibly argumentative guy answered the phone and said his delivery guy had dropped it and taken a picture. I told the guy a million times that no one ever ringed my apartment so that I could grant access to the building and that there was NOTHING outside of my apartment door, but he just kept speaking over me and treating me as if I my only goal was to steal a meager piece of chicken from him. Who knows where the #$%^#@ his delivery guy dropped my order but it sure as hell wasn't HERE! I hanged up the phone as I refused to spend more time trying to convince the guy that they were actually charging me for something I never received. I contacted Seamless and they were shocked at how bad this was handled by the restaurant and how sketchy the whole thing was. They immediately gave me a full refund. Won't ever order from this nightmare of a place. Don't do it. There's much better and more reliable options in the area.

Yelp
Veritable just showed up today when I turned a corner. The scaffolding has it hidden. It was the outside seating that appealed to me so I went in. I was taking photos when the manager questioned why. I said I was planning to eat and hopefully do a favorable Yelp review. I said it looks like a very nice place with fresh food. He thanked me. At that point I told him I needed a restroom first. He said they don't have one. I said I thought food establishments had to provide one. He explained it is 18 tables or more that require a restroom. I learned something new. He didn't know anywhere nearby I could relieve myself! After all that I decided I really needed to eat too. I told myself I'd grab an empty table and then order. I think Sunday's must be turning into my French Toast Day. That's what I ordered. The place was busy and it was taking what felt like forever. I explained to the food preparation employee that I needed to use the restroom but wasn't allowed. I told him I hoped it wouldn't be much longer. It appears all the sandwiches and breakfast bowls came first. Plus people ordering bagels and spreads were getting their food. Finally mine arrived prepared just as I ordered it. It definitely was my least favorite of the three restaurants I've had French Toast recently. The price was right at $7.08 with tax. French Toast was $5.50 and a $1 for adding fruit. Will I return? I feel conflicted about an answer to that question. It's really 3 or 3 and 1/2 Stars. The bathroom privilege is important to me. Speed of food preparation is important and the employee had trouble ringing it up like no one orders French Toast with fruit. I'm going to leave the decision up to you. The prices are good. They didn't ask for proof of vaccination, and the hand sanitizer near the door was empty. They ARE very very busy so I guess I can excuse them and give them Four Stars. Especially for the nice men that prepare the food! I felt like they would have let me use the restroom if it was up to them! Plus it's Marathon Sunday and that might add to their business today.

Yelp
BEWARE!! If we had a dollar for every time we found large bones in their chicken we would be rich! The buffalo chicken salad wrap had multiple bones on separate occasions and needless to say today we ordered a salad with breaded chicken and this bone was is it. We did call and tell them about it in the past, they offered a free coffee for the inconvenience. A coffee?! Really? This is really dangerous, they need to do better someone could choke or worse!

Simone H.

Yelp
Veritable has amazing takeout. I love the variety of veggies and they are all cooked perfectly. The brisket is a family favorite!

Rachel Q.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced. Tiny portions. They will nickel and dime you for everything. A slide of Turkey and two spoons of vegetables is $19. Also asked for a splash of soy milk in my coffee (literally said a splash) and they said that would be another $2. The food itself is fine, it's just extremely overpriced for a mouselike portion.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
great prices and food! I come every day for my iced coffee on the way to work, and it's the least expensive one i've found in the area- plus its great coffee! staff very friendly and efficient. would recommend !

Lexi G.

Yelp
Nice spot for an iced latte on the way to the subway! Had a variety of pastries I'll have to try next time I'm in the area.

Freddy L.

Yelp
Been coming here for months and today will be my last day didn't even order today. Every time I come the atmosphere is nice until I get to the register. The food is like a buffet style you choose what u want and they put it in a bowl and "heat it up" for you. My food is always cold and luckily I have a microwave in the office to heat it up. The people making my food try to be generous when serving BUT if the manager or supervisor is there that will not happen They will skimp ur food and heat it up for 30s on a Flat top grill -___- meanwhile the veggies are burnt as if they left it on the grill .today i went in and there was just scraps left during lunch hour the busiest time I didn't even order ... not paying 14.99 +tax for chicken and 2 half sides not even full sides rather spend the extra 2$ and go somewhere more filling

Vinay S.

Yelp
Reliable Breakfast spot with freshly made sandwiches/entrees that appropriately address the morning hunger. $9 a dish. 4/5 stars as a breakfast spot.

John D.

Yelp
Delicious food. Fast and courteous staff. Quick in the morning on the way to work

Adina B.

Yelp
Best tuna sandwich EVER! I'd also like to add that there was an issue with an item that I ordered and when I called the location they were happy to help and ended up giving me a refund. Great customer service.

Ruby S.

Yelp
This was probably the best breakfast I've had in NYC...from the service, perfect cappuccinos to the perfectly toasted bread and bagels. They buttered my toast, which I absolutely love when the restaurant butters toast while still warm and the multigrain bread was absolutely delicious! For 4 people we paid $41, not a bad deal in Manhattan. The service was exceptional!

Deborah L.

Yelp
I picked up pre packaged food from the refrigerator and I got home and opened it and it was moldy!!!! I was hungry so had to walk all the way back to get a refund. It's inconsistent food here. Also I've asked for food to be hot and it wasn't. They also have a weird system where they keep taking walk in orders before they finish your placed order so you wait longer. It's a good location and good choices and average price but food is so so.

R. R.

Yelp
Veritable, based on the experience I just had, is running a pricing scam. An item (banana walnut bread) costs $3. The sign says $3. The clerk said $3. The price charged? $3.54 "including tax." That's a tax rate (18%) more than twice the legal tax (8.875%). Could it be the sign was wrong and the clerk was wrong? He insisted it and he was right. So where do you think that additional almost 10% goes?

Jinny P.

Yelp
They sell excellent tiramisu that's moist at the bottom and creamy at the top. You can really taste that rum and it's not overly sweet! There's also a great tea selection with a variety of fruity green tea options. But they also have the dirtiest and smelliest bathroom in the world. I wish I hadn't gone in there. Seriously debated between 2 and 3 stars rating bc of the bathroom situation.

LeAnne E.

Yelp
The best iced coffee, iced teas and sprinkle cookies. And their hot foods are. very good too.

Joujou N.

Yelp
For $9.95, you sure get alot of food. So you get to pick your protein (southern fried chicken, jerk chicken, ribs etc...) and 2 sides (mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, roasted broccoli, roasted sweet potatoe etc...) and a sauce (gravy, lemon tahini, marinara etc...) The food is really good and plenty for the price. Great value. It's clean, modern, and they have about 10 tables and plenty of chairs-ppl are friendly and helpful. I dined in and just they had reheated my food more + the street is super noisy and they had the door open. These are minor things so overall this place is good for a complete lunch.

Christine S.

Yelp
Salmon just melts in your mouth. Came here for a quick bite on Thursday for early dinner. I got the "build your hot meal" ($9.95), which consists of one protein, two sides and a sauce. I went with the salmon for the protein. Btw, salmon is additional $2. So for the sides I went with grilled vegetables with tomato sauce and macaroni and cheese. I also got the lemonade and iced tea combo mix for the beverage. The salmon isn't a large piece or anything but it's the perfect amount if you're getting the combo with the sides. Seasoned perfectly, moist on the inside, just falls apart in your mouth. Mac and cheese tasted healthy, if that makes sense. Yeah it was cheesy, but it was definitely not drenched in butter or mixed in with other types of cheeses if you know what I mean. As for the grilled vegetables, they were delicious. So was their beverage with the lemonade and iced tea combo. It wasn't tart like I expected and was really refreshing. If you want something healthy, this is the place for you. They also have other drinks, a wide variety of pastries, omelettes to customize as well as sandwiches, salads and soups. I just poked my head in because I was around the area and was so hungry that I couldn't wait until dinner. I just needed something quick before I went to eat my real dinner consisting of not-so-healthy options. The build your hot meal was perfect for one. You can also share it if you don't want to get too full from it. Also, feel free to ask for hot sauce if you'd like. Overall, staff are friendly, it's spacious inside with lots of seating and plenty of healthy eats to choose from. I can imagine this place getting packed though during lunch hours. I'd probably come here for lunch every now and then if I lived or worked around the area. It's just a convenient place to grab and go. One thing I'd recommend is perhaps having the staff clean/wipe down the tables afterwards for those who don't clean after themselves.

Ken J.

Yelp
Very good fresh sandwiches and hot meals. Not Deli style but cooked on premises. Roasted Turkey is roasted on premises. Not your typical deli.

Victoria O.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Vertiable after my first Grubhub order. I will order again soon. The quinoa with berries and bananas is wonderful. Lower carb and more protein than oatmeal. Yum. And the omelet wasn't flat and brown like most cheap bodega omelets. Good potatoes too. Spinach/cheddar/onion plentiful. Delivery was fast and food was hot. I'm not going to walk down to 1st for breakfast but I will order online. And definitely going to try for lunch and dinner. Healthy and delicious.

Jami C.

Yelp
This place is great. Came recommended by someone my husband works with. They have a special where you can get a meat and 2 sides (daily generous portions) for about 10 dollars. My husband and I tried the salmon and jerk chicken (like rotisserie) both very good! A lot of variety. Sides were mixed vegetables, green beans, Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese is a cleaner version than what ppl are probably used to. But still good. Plenty of side options! I looked at a lot of reviews about bad service. Last few times I have been there service has been great and very friendly. Like going out of their way friendly. So maybe management took note and made changes? They also have a pastry/dessert/coffee section. And that is the reason I LOVE veritable. I'm picky with my lattes. I got an iced latte that was excellent!! Would definitely get it again. Quality coffee. But the real winners are...(drum roll)...the STUFFED COOKIES!! I've tried every flavor. Exceptional. Amazing. When ppl come into town and visit I always take them here. Warm gooey. They have a double chocolate stuffed with white and milk chocolate. A sugar cookie stuffed with strawberry Vanilla filling. A red velvet stuffed with cream cheese. There were nights where I would go to bed proud of myself for resisting the STRONG urge to walk there and get another cookie. I will say tonight my husband and I stopped in and grabbed a double chocolate stuffed cookie and brought it home. Later after dinner we warmed it up and ate it with mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was the greatest thing ever. Needless to say this place is EXCELLENT

Michelle S.

Yelp
I really want to like this place- they use Balthazar bread and there's a lot of seating/clean space inside. However, I got the caprese sandwich today and the mozz was sliced thinner than a Kraft American cheese slice, and had a pitiful amount of tomatoes and pesto. Not worth 10 bucks at all.

Veronica T.

Yelp
New healthy option deli/ cafe!!!! This place is awesome! They have salads, great warm meal options, cakes, pastries. The people are really nice there, and they let me try some of the meats because I was debating between which one to choose for the main. I actually like the face that they don't too many sides because it can be overwhelming at times. Better less variety and higher quality which I think they do. Will be back to try the other entrees!

Bruce N.

Yelp
This place has quality salads that are worth it for the price. I've never had a bad experience with the quality of the salads. They taste so fresh and this is why I keep coming back. I have a difficult time ordering (apparently none of us can hear each other). To obviate that I just write everything I want down on a sticky-note to make things easier.

Laura C.

Yelp
I've been trying to find an affordable yet delicious breakfast/brunch spot in the area and I found the perfect place. The breakfast is very affordable and absolutely delicious. I got the three egg omelette with three toppings. It came with home fries and toast. It was plenty and I was super satisfied. It's a great spot. I fully recommend.

Danae R.

Yelp
Decent Food but Disrespectful Staff I work right down the street and I used to get coffee, breakfast and lunch here frequently. The coffee is decent and the food is usually pretty good but can be pricey depending on what you get. However, after multiple instances of the staff behind the register being rude, unwelcoming, and confrontational, I won't ever be returning. Other colleagues of mine who also frequented Veritable had similar experiences with unkind staff and rude behavior. Fortunately there are many other places in the area to get good coffee and food.

Minh-An C.

Yelp
Swung by here to grab a quick breakfast before my friend went off to work. It was pretty empty but service was a tad slow. I got the 3 egg omelette and they only allow you to pick 3 ingredients to add in your omelette, making it really hard for me to decide. It is a good place to grab and go on your way to work. Nothing too fancy/special about this place.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Ok Veritable you have my attention. $9.95 gets you a protein and 2 sides! What a bargain!! Especially for the UES! Well portioned, delicious entrees and sides prepared with quality ingredients. From crispy southern fried chicken, to melt in your mouth texas brisket, to tender roast turkey, to spicy jerk bbq chicken, to vegetarian meatballs,.. you can't go wrong. Yummy sides like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, green bean almondine, kale and quinioa, and many more.. Nom nom! They also have a creative menu of sandwiches and salads made fresh to order, desserts, baked goods, and a coffee/tea bar. Wallet friendly breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, and eggs.. ($5.95 omlet with 3 fillings and toast!). Oh.. the fresh lemonade is gooood (specially the blueberry lemonade !!). I usually take out or order delivery but there are a few tables to eat in. Is this fine dining? No. But It's good food fast! Bon appetit!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Needed to kill time before a doctors appointment so stopped here.. freshness is advertised on every window but was disappointed to get a stale and definitely not fresh croissant.. ice coffee and bagel with egg and cheese were good and reasonably priced. Appreciated the contactless pickup from their app which offered 25% off. Had a few chairs outdoors with shade - overall did the job.

Patria M.

Yelp
Just came in for coffee but all their food looks good and fresh. I couldn't turn down the scone and was definitely yummy with my coffee. Good for a quick bite and to get inside to hide from my hay fever

Nora W.

Yelp
Fresh food. The guys behind the counter are nice and quick. Expensive. The owner is nasty.

Theodore E.

Yelp
Food was fine but the portions are minuscule, even by NY standards. $15 for half a piece of salmon, a scoop of beans and a 10 Brussel sprouts? Stingy!! You're better off going to Dig Inn.

Kristen T.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick bite before meeting friends for happy hour drinks. They had a good lunch/dinner option of one protein and two sides for 10.95 but I was looking for something smaller. I picked the beet salad from the to-go section and ordered a small lentil soup. The lentil soup was underwhelming. Lentil soup isn't my favorite but this one was flavorless. The beet salad, which looked promising in the package was nothing but beets, two cubes of feta cheese and a sparse walnut or two. I like beets, but I thought there'd be more cheese or nuts hiding under all of those beet cubes. The food did its job (sustaining me though happy hour) but I would rather go to Subway across the street next time.

Steph H.

Yelp
I love the food here. The food is fresh, flavorful and you get a lot of it for a great price. I love their hot foods that come with 2 sides as well as their breakfast, desserts and matcha! They have a ton to choose from. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Aly Y.

Yelp
Comfortable UES neighborhood cafe where you order in the back at either of 2 food stations and then order drinks at the cashier station. Self-seating; bus your own trays. My gf ordered the "meal" - a protein with 2 sides for $10 -which was too much food for me (planning to have a big dinner that night so didn't want to eat too much). I had a grilled ham & Swiss sandwich which was pretty good. The mango ice tea which the cashier recommended when I asked her whether she preferred that over the matcha ice tea was pretty good, too. A decent lunch for around $10 in the UES is a good thing. My only complaint would be that the tables are not regularly cleaned after customers leave.

Anna T.

Yelp
Wow. This place is amazing. So many options and all so good. If getting a bowl get the yogurt dill sauce! The chia pudding is incredible and I love their Buffalo chicken lettuce wraps.

Natalie T.

Yelp
Great customer service, super patient and very friendly. Food is also spectacular. So many options and good price.

Debra W.

Yelp
I have visited Veritable several times during my 2 week trip. Coffee was good. It's not SB, but they price it that way. I ordered a plain toasted bagel with plain cream cheese. The lady in front of me ordered a plain bagel with butter. There was a bit of confusion for some reason. I just knew I wasn't going to get what I ordered. The lady pushed into my hand and TOLD ME, it was mine! Went upstairs, my mistake, I should have checked it immediately. It was a buttered bagel. I went back downstairs and showed them, and she motioned to get in line. Lol, I'm not getting behind 10 people to fix and order you f'd up. When I told her to keep it, she motioned me to the counter, now she was ready to help me first, as I was walking out. That's the last $3.25 you are going to get out of me. Next!

Desi K.

Yelp
Really great quality and range of food. Great addition the neighborhood!!!

Nahian B.

Yelp
Expensive for coffee which tastes like Dunkin. Haven't tried the food but if i'm going to pay $5 going to go to Birch down the block.

Keneechi Krystal O.

Yelp
The coffee was already overpriced and on top of that there was an overcharge. I asked for an iced late which is about $5 and change. With almond milk and tax it came out to over $7. I asked for the receipt and I was charged twice for a non dairy milk (.72). They should learn that having repeat customers is what keeps your income consistent, not cheating them.

Josh T.

Yelp
My girl friend and I were so excited to try our new neighboring coffee spot, but unfortunately walked away beyond disappointed. It's beautifully designed for an in-and-out coffee shop/cafe, but the ingredients were not fresh, the baked goods were dried out and the coffee was poor. More on the coffee: the barista clearly lacked any skill in using the espresso machine. The milk was scolding hot, and I burned my mouth; the coffee was burnt; the flavor was unpleasant; and lastly the foam had little froth. Very disappointed overall, I'm sorry to say. Perhaps the management will take this into consideration and will up their game a bit. It's a pity this comfortable spot was a raging disappointment.

Laura M.

Yelp
Paid $3.50 for this bagel "with cream cheese" come on! That is ridiculous. Every time I come here I always say "I'll give it one more chance" ... think I'm finished with this place forever.

Jackie C.

Yelp
Dry food, with small portions, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. I was running late for dinner due to errands and what not and decided to stop by here at 8:30pm. By that time, 3/4 of the menu was unavailable. Their sandwiches, soups, breads, and some of their meats were unavailable, even though the restaurant was open for another 1.5 hours. I ended up having to settle for a dry piece of chicken, some boiled broccoli's and fries in a food-tray-esque container. I know this place is not supposed to be fancy, but I'm literally sure I could have gotten a classier, better quality meal at the MCDonald's down the street. Maybe the bakery part is better and maybe my experience is skewed due to the fact I came a bit late, but I really do not have much good to say about the place. Nothing horribly wrong with the place, but for the price, they should do better.
