"n Paris, I spent three years going to Déviant like three times a week. I would take everyone there. It really became an extension of my dining room (probably because I had no dining room). It was just a tiny bar and they served delicious wine and Pierre Touitou’s exquisite food. In Chicago there is a place called Verve that reminds me of that a bit. Their chef, Ryan Epp, is very talented."

If you're looking for a wine shop that goes beyond simply selling bottles, this is the place. The staff here are among the friendliest and most knowledgeable I've ever encountered. Their expertise spans a vast array of wine regions, with many of them having traveled to these places firsthand, bringing back insights and stories that make selecting a bottle even more enjoyable. Beyond their extensive knowledge, their distributors are top-tier, offering access to rare wines that I have spent years searching for. It's a true treasure trove for collectors and enthusiasts alike. But don't worry—there’s no pretension here. If you're just looking for a great everyday bottle, they’ll happily guide you to something that fits your taste and budget. Whether you're after a rare gem or just a solid bottle for dinner, this shop is a must-visit. Outstanding selection, impeccable service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere—what more could you ask for? And don’t forget to check out their events—they knock them out of the park! Burgers and Burgundy: easily one of the best burgers in the city.

I had my 40th birthday party here back in February. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helped me make my night truly special and memorable. I look forward to setting up more events (and picking up more bottles) here in the future.

Came in on a Friday night, great atmosphere! Limited menu, but every item excels. Had the burrata for the app, and the Eggplant Parmesan and waygu steak for the main. Absolutely superb. I’ll admit, I hate eggplant Parmesan, and I could not get enough of this one. Amazing wine selection as well.

Google
The wines choices are great as I am French and a lot of hard to find bottles for all type of budget! Highly recommended!

Google
I stopped by looking for a new white wine. Still learning about the many options, I had many questions. Liam was so incredibly helpful in narrowing down the choices, providing great detail regarding taste, region, etc. I was very happy with my choice and the shopping experience. I also got to taste several red wines. Looking forward to their upcoming wine tastings!

This is the third location in the states and the first one here. There's one in San Fran and the original in New York. This is mostly a wine market, bar and restaurant. They carry wines from around the world and some spirits also. For the restaurant their are only two meal kits; one, duck for $45 and two, veggie for $40.

Exceptional selection, knowledgeable staff and very inviting atmosphere. Verve is a hidden gem in Lincoln Park that everyone should know about.

Yelp
We were looking for a place selling French wine and what a wonderful surprise it was to find Verve Wine! High quality service, and a beautiful place. I 100% recommend, thanks for everything.

Yelp
It's rare to have a wine shop curated by such a great somm. We had the great experience of visiting eleven Madison park in NY back in the day and now their somm has opened a wine shop so close to home here in Chicago! Really nice selection even under $100 a bottle.

Yelp
This place has a huge selection of wine as well as a bar for an instant glass! The bottles were organized very well by where they were made and ranged drastically in prices, so this place will fit just about any budget! They also offered pick up options and wine tasting. There were also snacks to pair your wine with to buy including olives and gluten-free crackers. I stopped by around 3pm and it was empty, but based off the stacks of to-go orders they had, it looks popular! Customers are also able to book them for events such as holiday parties and private dinners.

Yelp
Loved this space. We came here for a quiet drink and were seated at the bar. We were served quickly. I had the NA pear sour and we shared an appetizer - some sort of carrot tartare which was pretty good. Really liked the drink and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I've been eyeing this spot since mid-pandemic when the shop was just opening up and dining wasn't available yet. Now that the indoor and outdoor dining spaces opened up, my friend and I grabbed a nice refreshing cocktail on the patio. I liked their mezcal drink and am excited to try some wines in the future. It's a very nice wine bar in the Lincoln park area!

Yelp
We were definitely looking forward to Verve Wine bar opening up in our neighborhood. While it had been open for wine sales it was nice to see the bar opened for customers and decided to try on a Friday evening. Let's start with the service: it was exceptional. They seated us right away and our waiter was not shy about making recommendations and he didn't disappoint. I am more of a red wine person but was in the mood for white and he helped pick two great options: the Loureiro and the Chenin Blanc. To accompany we had two appetizers that included the buratta cheese and jambon. Both were good but not outstanding and for the price, the portions were very small. We definitely be back but will likely come for the wine and great service but not for the food.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a classy evening. It's definitely a sophisticated menu, but every dish was fantastic. The restaurant is so beautiful, and the staff were very helpful in recommending wines.

Yelp
Originally back in October 2021, My husband and I came here for the dinner to try their infamous eggplant parmesan since then we have tried over half of the menu and everything has been delicious! Outside of their dinner service, we have now become regular visitors on Tuesday nights for their wine tasting, each week João and his team curate tasting based on a theme or region and we get to come in and learn while also trying some amazing wine without having to venture outside of Chicago. We've tried Orange wines, something I knew nothing about and we also visited areas where we thought we were familiar with like Napa or France but the team continuous exposes up hidden gems we may have never known about even in those areas Tuesdays at Verve have quickly become our favorite night of the week, and we currently plan to keep coming back for as long as we can.

Yelp
I didn't have a go-to wine bar before because the ones that I've been to in Chicago have been OK-- nothing memorable but that all changes with Verve. It's such an unassuming place that will blow you away with the quality of food and wine. I had the duck dish, which is one of the best duck confits I've ever had (even if it's not advertised as such, but it's memorable for the crispy exterior and the tender, juicy interior- although I'm not an expert on what confit is) and the cheeseburger, which has to be one of the best cheeseburgers in Chicago (again better than what Au Cheval has to offer). The wine list is thoughtfully curated with great single glass options. Service is on point as well. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
Came here a couple months back, pretty soon after it opened, and I really enjoyed it - but it's good to know what this place is all about before planning a meal here. Vibes - I loved the vibe here, it reminded me of a Chip and Joanna Gaines but super hip and industrial kitchen. Super open and nice, while not being too stuffy. Wine - Wine was great, only certain ones are available by the glass, but I think you would come here more to split a bottle with some friends. Pretty standardly priced for wine I would say. Tons of options and great recommendations. Food - This is where it might throw it off a little for me. The food was excellent, but it is small portions for pretty high prices. We got the olives and bread for the table, burrata, green salad, and the eggplant parm, and we all split everything (there were just 3 of us). Since the eggplant parm was a main, we figured it would be larger, but it ended up being pretty small. So, overall, definitely give this place a try for a wine and snacks night with the girls, or a classy drinks date, but I wouldn't plan on filling up on the food here.

Yelp
OMG I had high expectations for the wine at this wine bar owned by a very famous sommelier, but boy it did not dissapoint. Our group had four bottles of wine and they were al spectacular. Even one I didn't initially like really opened up after an hour to become complex, structured and smokey. We got some appetizers and they were fine - really good butter. Mussels were good, some vegetarian friends got eggplant parm and they said it was the best ever. But I don't think you're here for dinner really, it's more a wine bar with nosh food. Great service, beautiful space, it is pricey. Will come back.

Yelp
What a great addition to the area! The new restaurant attached to the extremely cute wine store (with great offerings at a wide variety of price points) is delicious and a great vibe. Date night? Girls dinner? Work drinks? Servers were all so friendly and food was great and they were wonderful with accommodating my allergy. 1st Course: 1-Sourdough with cultured butter and the sun-dried tomato romesco. The bread was relatively standard but the butter and sun-dried tomato dip was delicious. 2- Burrata with fork smashed peas and greens. Very good. Especially when spread on the bread! 2nd Course: 1- Asparagus - The hazelnuts and vinaigrette accented this perfectly and i didn't want this dish to end. It tasted impossibly fresh. 5 spears. 2- Eggplant Parmesan- This was our favorite dish of the night. Flavors were amazing. Not an overly large portion. Wine list was great- both bottles all under $100 or glasses. Would definitely come back here!

Yelp
Loved the pancakes, Grandmas biscuits and burger! Everything high quality, tasted amazing and well presented. The drinks and wine were also on point.

Yelp
I love the concept. And I think they mean well. But most of the staff here is very, very green and/or inexperienced about wine in general, which is disappointing for the prices. First things first: Food is excellent. Everything we tried was flavorful, fresh and perfectly executed. That said, $18 for six small oysters is a bit absurd. As is $8 for bread and butter. However, the watermelon and feta salad was amazing. My mussels (and I am a mussels snob) were on par with those I have had in France. My husband said his eggplant parmesan was also fantastic. Our dessert of soft serve with berries also elevated a simple thing into something special. Portions are a little small and sides are extra, so this is perfect if you want a light meal. They asked us to order everything (appetizers and entrees) at once, which we found a bit strange. Our server was very insistent about it. As for wines: They have an eclectic mix, definitely something for everyone. But our server was just not trained or experienced enough to understand our comments and questions. And one major faux pas is that none of the whites we had were adequately chilled. When you are spending $15+ a glass on wine, you do not expect it to be room temperature. We then asked if we could have a chilled bottle and it threw our server into chaos. She literally didn't respond. We saw that they appear to have a sommelier or someone behind the bar in a sport coat, plunging bottles into a bucket of ice but since we were there early, we apparently got a fresh, warm bottle. They didn't have any chilled whites, but of course, as the evening went on, those bottles on ice did cool down. As for the wine shop, again, very accommodating, pleasant and helpful but when I ordered some bottles for pick up, I got the wrong order and although I did get an apology, there was nothing offered for my trouble, only a choice of a refund or to come back to swap out the wrong bottle. I really want to see this place succeed but I think better training and customer service is needed to bring Verve up to the ideal it aspires to. The savior of that evening was Justin, who exposed us to a Corsican dessert wine and really knew his wines and regions. This was the level of knowledge we were expecting! He really went above and beyond to make our experience great. We will definitely return for one of their tasting events and hope that with time, things will become more seamless.

Yelp
I wanted to try this new Lincoln Park wine bar out because I was so excited when I saw it opened. However the overall experience was over rated and overpriced. The wine bar looks inviting from the outside but once you go inside it's an odd experience. They are attempting to be both an upscale restaurant and a casual wine bar and they can't seem to find a combination that works. Our waiter was pushing us to order more than we needed in an already uncomfortable setting. We stuck with appetizers: asparagus, artichoke, burrata and their bread. I was surprised by the price of all of these items but even more surprised with the portions. The asparagus appetizer came with 5 asparagus which is not great for a group. The artichoke was one artichoke that was managed to split into 6 small bites. The burrata was also one of the smallest portions of burrata Ive ever seen at a restaurant. Their house bread came with 6 thin and small slices with a great butter but also not great the share because of the small portion size. The food was tasty but given the portion and price factor- it was hard to enjoy. I don't think I will be coming back to this place!

Yelp
Cool vibe, that isn't like anything else in Chicago. I liked the set up and service. I wish the wine selection was a little more high end, especially for Lincoln Park. Food is basic. If I lived in walking distance, I'd come by more. As is I enjoyed my visit, but probably won't be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Had dinner here after a show at Mercury Theatre. Staff is wonderful and the food delicious. Located in the courtyard of the residential development that replaced the old Childrens Hospital. Our small group had cheese plate & bread to start then the beet salad and acorn squash salad. The pork chop entree and Wagyu Bavette were both delicious. Soft serve ice cream & "butterfinger" (more like a big Reese's peanut butter cup) dessert we're a perfect finish. The front of the house is a small wine shop & the dining area modern but warm space. Great service. We all enjoyed our meal immensely! Give it a try!

Ashish C.

Yelp
Really good place for casual outings, burrata is must try. Drinks were good too, service was great as well

Jacqui S.

Yelp
Absolutely without hesitation, 5+ stars! Really great service, attentive and knowledgeable staff and got to meet the sommelier. Comfortable, great, wide open seating so you're not cramped in with the other guests. The food is exceptionally good, everything cooked to perfection and so flavorful. We had the mussels as an appetizer, and for dinner we had the demi poulard au vin jaune and callot de bouef with hen of the woods mushrooms and baby carrots. There was a definite party going on in my mouth with every bite. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Fantastic experience at this new wine & dine location in Lincoln Park. The ambience is wonderful, and the wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I loved that you were able to purchase the wines that you can drink in the restaurant. The food was excellent..... such good flavors and perfect portion sizes. Would highly recommend!
