Gourmet Italian panini, pastries, cappuccino, and wine

"Via Quadronno is the answer to the perpetually hot question, "Where do I get lunch near the east side of Central Park?" It's just a few steps from the Met and they’ve been making great pastas and sandwiches since 1999. Try their special speck panini or carbonara, and get some gelato at the end. Via Quadronno is consistently busy and crowded, with tables mostly for two, so it’s a bit of a nightmare for a group." - sonal shah, willa moore, will hartman, neha talreja
"Sitting outside at this little Italian cafe, sipping a cappuccino and staring into Central Park, is a great way to start a blue-skied morning. Via Quadronno is steps away from The Met, and you can use it to fuel up with a mortadella, tomato, and mustard sandwich before launching into some art. Tables for more than two can be hard to come by (they only take reservations at dinner), so come alone or with a friend, split a pasta and a sandwich, and cap things off with some breakfast gelato. Why not?" - will hartman, sonal shah, willa moore
"Our only complaints with this Upper East Side spot are the spotty service and the high prices of their non-sandwich menu items. Bypass both of these issues by grabbing some really good paninis to-go, and taking them to the park a block away. The sandwiches here, like the one with prosciutto and shrimp, are excellent and come wrapped tightly in tin foil, so they’ll stay warm and toasty until you find your perfect plot of grass." - matt tervooren
"Here’s a quick list of charming things to appreciate on the UES right now: a baby duck bathing in the pond by the 72nd Street entrance to Central Park, a sunset ferry at 90th Street, and the tiny cafe tables outside of Via Quadronno. This Italian restaurant is serving spritzes and summer specials like crab soup and asparagus, as well as their typical menu of panini, gelato, and espresso." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
"We love Via Quadronno for its Italian sandwiches, salads, and pastas. And because it’s the kind of place where you won’t look like an a**hole for ordering with the subtle Italian accent you picked up on that trip to Rome 10 years ago. That said, we can’t promise your brunch group won’t make fun of you afterwards when you’re walking to the Met (which is about a block away)." - hannah albertine
