"The owner of Northwest Side Italian mainstay Via Veneto is battling the city over an outrageously large water bill that could put the restaurant out of business. The restaurant was charged $56,000 by the city for two months of water — an amount that owner Tony Barbanente says usually covers more than two years and believes is a mistake — according to a report by CBS2." - Daniel Gerzina

Absolutely the BEST Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at. Food is top notch. Wait service 5-star. The owner greets the customers and offers them the best customer service you can ask for. Food is exquisite and priced well within reason for the serving size. I Love this place and it comes highly recommended.

Not too impressed with their Pistachio Ravioli. It looked more like the Polish Pierogis. It was tough so I could easily figure out that it was prepared some time ago and it laid in the freezer for good time, and was not cooked through. I’ll choose something else next time.

Great Italian restaurant that has been around for a while. We've had a good experience - great food, great service - every time we've come here over the last 11 years. For a while, this amazing mushroom ravioli with cream balsamic sauce was on the menu; right now it's off rotation but I saw it on the specials menu a couple of days ago, and if you ask, the chef will make it for you. A good place to have a conversation, not just a meal. We recently came on a Thursday evening, and the place was only a third full at 8PM. Recommend.

Came here with my girlfriend and experienced the best service and Italian food I've had in the city. The size of the plates are insane and you will never leave hungry. The stuffed purses are really good but you can't really go wrong with anything you pick hear. I have been back a few times and the service and food is amazing. One of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago!

I went here recently with my fiancee because our friends had a great time here. We did too!! Everything was very nice. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had the octopus starter, which we normally wouldn't order, and it was delicious! My veal parmigiano was really good too. We will be going back undoubtedly!

Unique dishes and wonderful service, coupled with a great atmosphere and ample selection of good wines and beers. The specials offered when I visited were fresh and modern, but with delicious traditional elements. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, as there is something any person can find that they would enjoy thoroughly.

Our party of five made a first time visit and what a pleasant dinner discovery Via Veneto was. This is a cozy, traditional Northern Italian restaurant. They had 7 special entrees plus a full regular menu of great tasting traditional Italian food. The wine and deserts complimented the meals. The service very attentive.

the one and only super

My wife and I stopped back here on our way back to the suburbs last night. We both ordered the Linguine Pescatore, and were amazed by how fresh and delicious the seafood was. The shrimp and clams melted with the garlic sauce exquisitely. It was so good that we asked to thank the chef personally, and were met by the nicest and most humble owner and head chef, Tony. He retailed us with stories of the restaurant's rich history and dedication toward authentic cuisine over comped pieces of unbelievable cheesecake. All in all, it was one of the best experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. 5 Stars. Highly Recommended.
