As soon as you enter, you’ll be greeted by a glittering ballroom and a live jazz band upfront. People are wearing suits, jackets, and dresses they found in the “evening wear” section at a department store, and everything, from the steak to the calamari tastes perfectly acceptable, sometimes even good. "Vibrato Grill Jazz is a respected venue by music legend Herb Alpert with old-school jazz supper club vibes. During live performances, the staff asks diners to keep quiet while eating wild striped bass crudo, New Bedford scallops with sunchoke puree, or the Wagyu ribeye. Alpert’s wife is a well-known Brazilian vocalist, likely the inspiration behind the caipirinha with cachaça, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple, and lime. People will be wearing suits, jackets, and dresses they likely found in the “evening wear” section at Neiman Marcus. For a place so focused on music, the food is honestly not bad. Everything, from the ahi tuna tacos, to calamari, to the complimentary ice cream scoop they’ll give on birthdays, tastes perfectly acceptable. Sometimes even good. "The great jazz trumpeter Herb Alpert set up shop in a secluded strip mall along Beverly Glen Boulevard, combining jazz with modern American cuisine and a top-shelf bar program. Countless artists have set foot on the stage here, but even without a big name performing, the menu is worth the trip. The hibiscus margarita is a hit, and the “More & More Paloma Amour” (which takes its name from Alpert’s 1965 song “More & More Amor”), uses grapefruit juice and club soda (rather than the traditional grapefruit soda) to make the drink less sugary and more refreshing." - Robert Spuhler
