"There are quite a few around Miami. So what makes the one in Coral Gables special? Breakfast. Yes, they have excellent pastelitos, but they also serve a palomilla steak with eggs, french fries, buttery tostada, and cafe con leche for under $15. It’s a deal that lures in construction workers, politicians, and housewives from all over Coral Gables. So arrive early because lines get long. If there is a crowd, wait in the ventanta line. It moves quicker and the probability of petting fluffy dogs is higher out there." - Virginia Otazo

"Guava lovers swear by Vicky’s pastelito de guayaba and while all others are readily available for picking, this is the popular bakery’s best seller. Second place goes to its cheese pastry with a generous coating of sugar, and third to the twofer Dutch pastelito de carne made with beef plus sliced ham and Swiss cheese." - Stacy A. Moya

Stopped here this morning for a quick bite and I was not disappointed! Ordered the bacon, egg and cheese croissant with a colada. There was a bit of a wait but totally worth it. Will definitely come back time and time again. Spent $10 including a tip.

Google
Not a happy camper... in the heart of Coral Gables, I expected something else. I was surprised to see the location last night when I passed by. I said to myself, I'll be there in the morning... I was looking forward to a Vicky Bakery in the Gables.... very disappointing. I ordered a pan con tortilla; but it wasnt possible because the cooks had all gone home by 2pm. When I asked what else there was, the lady directed me.to come in and take a look... I wish I didnt. I felt as if I was at the airport. About 90% of everything available was prepackaged and not looking too fresh. The floors were sticky, that just gives me a bad impression, didnt feel too clean. I must have missed the rush. The place was pretty empty and I guess it's more of a local place; but I would think that in a traditional location, I'd get nothing but the best of traditional Cuban pastries and culture. Not the place for that. I'll give it another try some other day, I'm still in disbelief. Nice outdoor seating and a big window if you want to order from there.

Google
Vicky’s Bakery has been around in Miami for many years. This particular location in the heart of Coral Gables, follows the traditional Cuban bakery/quick eats café with typical “pastelitos” and many of the other traditional food items that local “Miamians” are used to. Great coffee and pastries, croissants 🥐, cakes and breads. Good for a quick bite, and coffee to push you through the day or breakfast. My only “hmmm 🤨” is that the all-female staff chose to ignore me standing there quietly waiting my turn, while allowing every man who came in after me to be waited on... Display of a male chauvinistic culture where it is women who do this kind of nonsense to other women! Unbelievable! Ladies: Really?! Put a little number thing so everyone gets service fairly, not just because these men are your “usual” ones and women get pushed away until one of you decides we are even alive! So, due to this, I won’t be one to go back! Sorry, too many places in Miami to get a coffee and a pastelitos to bother with this nonsense.

Google
Great place for pastries, great little place to sit and have your Coffee and Pastelitos. I’ve only been there for breakfast. Coffee is definitely better than SB but small cups and medium high prices. Locally in 17th I’ve had bigger & better Cafe Con Leche for less but it really wasn’t a place to hang out at.

Google
I juice at home and I can tell the natural juice tasted NOT fresh. It was also very warm and the sandwiches was like a shower of Mayonnaise. Will only come back for coffee and pastry. I also didn't receive my receipt so I couldn't figure why I pay over $20 for my breakfast. I normally buy breakfast for 2 for $10 but this place at least should serve better for that price.

Google
Of I could I would give this place zero stars but I can't. Everything they sell is absolutely disgusting except for the guava pastry. I love across the street and I refuse to buy anything here. My friend decided to bring me these señoritas today because he didn't know any better and I couldn't believe how soggy they were and the fact that they had no cream inside 😳 how are they still open

Google
Great place to grab a quick bite!! They have outdoor sitting for a relaxed break if you choose to . The croissants were delicious and the cafe con leche was awesome. I would definitely recommend this place.

Reel Good Fish’n

Google
They handed me an empty pastry. Unbelievable the stones at some businesses house trying to rip people off. I’m gonna fight for my money back.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Friday, group of 5. should have know that something was not right when there were only 2 tables occupied. upon ordering, we were advised that the kitchen/restaurant was closing in 10 minutes and they were out of rice what? a cuban place with no rice:( their add says open until 10 pm!! to make matters worse, the (only) waitress started sweeping and moping around us, what? and placing chairs upside down on all tables! horrible experience. I do not recommend this place.

Denise A.

Yelp
Love this place. I come here with my Mom and her girlfriends. Order the stuffed tostones appetizer and the croqueta preparada. Service was great and ambiance was even better.

Aileen Q.

Yelp
This location is walking distance from my job and my coworkers and I decided to try it out. We greeted as we walked in but did not receive a greeting back. We were told in Spanish to sit in the table in the corner that she would set it up now. The waitress seemed rushed and a bit rude. If it were based on service I would give this location two stars but due to the convenience and the food being good I have given it 4 stars.

Francisco A.

Yelp
The special of the day, Picadillo, was good, but very small portion. Left kind of hungry. Also for the amount of food, it was overpriced.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Do not recommend. Nothing good about this place. My husband and I went for lunch and found the staff and food extremally disappointing. Although there were no customers upon our arrival, we were made to wait while the (only) server finished talking on the phone. My husband's Vaca Frita, white rice and black beans tasted good going down but caused him immediate stomach distress. It was a frantic rush home where he was left unable to do anything but remain close to the bathroom. Possibly some type of food poisoning. My Cuban sandwich was actually just a ham sandwich with a very runny large slather of mustard and mayonnaise which I scraped off. Not even a pickle. Very messy and expensive considering there was not even a chip or fry. We will definitely not go to this place again.

Ana B.

Yelp
What a great find! We flew in to Miami early this morning. Looking for a breakfast place and saw this. Did not disappoint! Our breakfast dishes were freshly made, coffee was delicious as was the fresh juice. Cute place with white linen tablecloths, music, about a dozen tables, and terrific prices.

Adrian B.

Yelp
Lacks professionalism big time! About 7 ladies laughing and chatting but ignoring the costumers. At arrival there was a person being helped by one if their whole I the second and only person standing was being ignored. One of them came up to me asked and left without mentioning that they had no eggs and the sandwiched were from the day before to which I reacted and she mentioned no I think today walking and going back to the chatting very disappointed I don't think I'll be coming back. The DMV has better service than this.

Yelp
I've eaten at Off the Mile a few times now, and each visit has been consistent. The restaurant is pretty small, so either crowded or intimate, depending on how you look at it. The vaca frita de pollo is pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. There is a parking lot at the restaurant, which is not always the case in that part of Coral Gables and makes it much more convenient to visit. Service is friendly and quick, and the food is consistently good. The bathroom is also clean.

Ian M.

Yelp
Off the Mile is a small restaurant with big taste. The menu is eclectic, skewing towards a Cuban South Florida repertoire. I ordered the grilled shrimp and vegetables. The plate brought a healthy amount of vegetables and half a dozen grilled shrimp. I could not finish the vegetables. Not bad for $16. The food took a little longer than I would've wanted; but it was reasonable. Ice tea was not on the menu but the server made it for us. That's a plus in this town where not accommodating the guest's requests rules. Parking is severely limited. Service is good. For a quick lunch meeting in the Gables this is a good spot.

Diandra L.

Yelp
What a welcome surprise Off The Mile is to the Vicky Bakery Family! We stopped by the other morning for breakfast and will definitely be back. Off the Mile is a pretty small spot, with some outdoor seating as well as indoor. We opted for indoor because summer, and were greeted by the friendly server and warm tostadas. At this point, I was already crushing hard on Off the Mile. They have a small variety of items on the breakfast menu, but they are solid choices. I opted for the Traditional Spanish Breakfast which was eggs on top of Garbanzos with Chorizo and a Spanish hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise is what sold me on this, and it seems to be spread throughout the garbanzos in the cute little cazuela it's served in. Points to this dish for being both cute and tasty! For the breakfast, you can get eggs served any way. I asked for poached eggs and the server looked at my like I had 3 heads, but alas you must remember your audience so sunny side up was my final choice. Loved my breakfast choice! I also eyed the Bistec Al Caballo which came with a huge portion of steak, as well as the traditional Cuban breakfast. Breakfast for two, including delicious cafe con leches was around $20. Solid meal for a great price.

Yelp
We had just gotten off our cruise ship and had driven through parts of Coral Gables reminiscing about growing up in Miami. After visiting Venetian Pool just to show my family one of my favorite places we needed to find a place to eat. So we needed a place to eat. My Aunt wanted to go to some place on Red and Bird roads but I used Yelp to find this little treasure!!! The service was fantastic. The five of us were all happy with our breakfasts. I love Cuban coffee and this didn't disappoint. The bathroom was clean. The server great. The food pretty good. The fresh squeezed orange juice was great too! The Cuban bread...yum. Would go back!!! Oh and it was less expensive than I would've thought for a place in coral gables.

Yelp
I noticed people dining here as I was grabbing coffee at the Vicky's so I decided to give it a try for lunch today. This restaurant is owned and operated by the same owners as Vicky's Bakery. It has a cozy feeling with a wine rack, which gives this place a wine bar feeling. When I paged through the menu I noticed traditional Cuban dishes. I'm not sure why this restaurant is also dubbed as New Americana. However, the few patrons seated for lunch were also enjoying a glass of red wine, which makes sense---this is also a wine bar after all. The menu also has a breakfast section. I opted for a medium churasco steak with rice and beans. The chimichuri sauce was fresh and zesty and the meat was a nice cut seasoned well. Service was good. There is also a Facebook page for the restaurant. All in all, a very nice addition to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Being that I live AND work in the Gables, there comes a time where i feel like I been & eaten everywhere & just want something new. Imagine my surprise when i discovered off the mile! Apparently, this place has been opened for three years just blocks from my home & i never knew. Even more exciting to learn that they had delivery! I called in, placed my order & waited excitedly. Delivery was quick & as soon as I opened the container, i knew i would love it. I had the "Classic Spanish Breakfast" (2 Fried Eggs, house potatoes, sautéed spinach & red peppers) I opted out of the chorizo as i love pigs & haven't eaten one on 13 years but did add whole wheat toast & a fresh squeezed orange juice. The whole meal was DELICIOUS, flavourful & very fresh. Will definitely be dining in soon and will continue to order delivery. Really excited to try more of their menu!

Belinda M.

Yelp
Authentic Cuban cuisine. Highly recommended. Had tostones hawaiñanos con Vaca Frita, Tropical Chicken with Mango sauce, and vaca frita de pollo. Very good.

Lina W.

Yelp
We decided to have breakfast today at a place by our house when we got there they didn't have steak and eggs so we keep looking for breakfast places and found this place only 11 mins walk the food looked amazing so we gave it a shot and to tell you it was the best choice we made when we got here no one was here empty at 8am food was out right away the steak and eggs were amazing staff are super nice . Plus it has a Vicky next door yum We order the Bistec a Caballo came with cafe and Cuban toast really good I got a side of avocado and potatoes The Croquetas were amazing.

Marjorie G.

Yelp
Terrible over fried toastones over sauced chicken Caesar overcooked hard chicken waitress picking her nose at the end of our meal

Mariano G.

Yelp
THe food here is so good!! Couldn't believe it, came across it ordering food for the office. Everyone was wowed

Jeff K.

Yelp
Was looking for something quick for my son and I before he did jujitsu around the corner and at 4:30pm I'm told the kitchen is closed and can't order a frita sandwich!!! Are you serious?!!!! I'm Deyond disappointed. Why say your open until 10 pm if your not making food. Also frustrated they don't speak English

Sam L.

Yelp
Great place for brunch has many options on the food menu to alternate. They have daily food specials at great prices. Food is taste fresh and homemade. Service is fantastic everyone greets you and is attentive. I'd recommend the chicken salad with fruits it was amazing super sweet fruit and perfectly juicy chicken. The special was meat and potatoes in a pasta like sauce so delish. Def loved to come back

Robin L.

Yelp
Food pics look good and I'd love to say that their food was delicious, but we never got the chance to taste it. My grown son and I arrived for breakfast 30 minutes before advertised closing time. Door was unlocked and clients were seated, yet, we were refused service; kitchen closed. Please advertise accurately and lock the door at advertised closing time. Otherwise, it's difficult to not take your lack of service personally. Highly disappointed.

Rich K.

Yelp
Lot of choices for lunch in the Gables. But this place has some amazing Cuban food. The owners really have a handle on food quality and consistency. My new goto spot for lunch in the Gables.

Christa C.

Yelp
Pretty good. Good food but awkward ambience. There are white tablecloths and cloth napkins which calls for a fancier dining experience. However, there are laminated paper menus which gives a more casual vibe. From pictures on Yelp I thought I was taking my boyfriend to a casual birthday breakfast, so we felt very underdressed and a little awkward when we arrived in jeans and t-shirts to a seemingly fine dining experience. Nice food but awkward experience.

David W.

Yelp
I've just had one of the best breakfasts I can remember. Bistec a Caballo - basically, Cuban steak and eggs - surpassed all expectations. The steak is marinated in garlic, lime juice, salt, and pepper, then pan fried. It was served with fried eggs, potatoes, Cuban toast, and café con leche. I loved the dining experience as well. The ambiance is relaxed and you never feel rushed to clear the table. I could have been in Havana since I never heard one word of English spoken except by me. I can't wait to come back tomorrow.

Deby V.

Yelp
Amazing service, food and prices!!! Our server was super nice and the food was great too. Had the palomilla, French toast and Cuban breakfast special-- delicious! Recommend it!!!

Li F.

Yelp
Great experience, had Sunday brunch, food is excellent, a good blend of American and Cuban affair. Our waitress is super friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience that much better. Same owner as Vicky's Bakery. Would love to come back and try the dinner sometime.

Anton Z.

Yelp
Great food, awesome service, good location with lots of parking. They have a nice outside seating area as well. Very nice and intimate away from the road. The food is simple and tasty!!

Geraldo L.

Yelp
Excellent! A true wonderful culinary experience. At night they are an italian restaurant jewel. Perhaps the best restaurant I have visited of the more than 800 that I have been thru my life.

Rique A.

Yelp
Such a gem. Very nice, comfortable, and very affordable. The food is great and no waiting for a table. Awesome bakery attached for that yummy take-home goody bag!

Alp P.

Yelp
Fantastic hidden gem in the heart of coral gables. I suggest you try the zuppe di mare! Such a delight with a wonderful wine list and knowledgeable staff.

Jackie H.

Yelp
It was not very hood. The service was lacking and the food was just missing variety. I would not recommend

Alfred F.

Yelp
Still relatively unknown, this Italian/Cuban restaurant provides quality food in a small 10 table space a short distance from Coral Gables main streets: Le Jeune Rd, Ponce de Leon & Coral Way. The owner, Mike, has 3 Vicky Bakeries, and is trying to parlay his bakery successes into a successful fine dinning experience. The four of us who dinned their last week think Mike has achieved his goal. Try it before it becomes popular & becomes a difficult to obtain reservation.

Nkechi U.

Yelp
Went here for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a great selection of breakfast/brunch dishes, fresh juices, and Cuban coffee. Lots of indoor & outdoor seating. Great service and nice ambiance.

Natalie L.

Yelp
One of the best Fritas in Miami! Love this spot for breakfast meetings too! Off The Mile hosted one of my 'Women Who Wine' events and guests had a great experience. Great food, service and staff. Mikey and co-owners take pride in their restaurant and it shows. Just experience it for yourself...you can thank me later!

Emma J.

Yelp
Really great spot! I can for breakfast with my boyfriend on a whim and WOW it did not disappoint!! Everything was prepared fresh. I had the Cuban breakfast, croquetta and cafe con leche. Everything was delicious, came quickly and the restaurant is cozy and bright. I can't wait to come back and try the dinner! Can not recommend it eb

Brian F.

Yelp
excellent authentic Cuban food and friendly warm customer service....I will definitely return and recommend to my friends

Yianni I.

Yelp
Went once for breakfast and will certainly go again. Nice service, solid food (pancakes could be better) and good prices.

Daniella M.

Yelp
Delicious! Come here for lunch often as it's right next to my office. Food is consistent, service is great!

M F.

Yelp
Stood waiting for about 5 minutes until the. Hey came out and sat us. When we were sat the service was slow and inattentive. Food was ok but definitely not worth the service. Would not recommend

Tony R.

Yelp
Five stars is not enough to describe how delicious the food in this place is. I went for dinner but I understand they also serve breakfast and lunch. There's plenty of parking and it is indeed a hidden gem of the Gables

Leticia F.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast Sunday morning. Cute spot. Loved that it wasn't overcrowded and there was free Parking which is rare to find in the gables. Their prices are great and the food was delicious.

Grace T.

Yelp
Great food, great service, cozy ambiance. Indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommend this cute little place.

Melissa K.

Yelp
Nice place , but service is extremely slow . I ended up taking everything to go because I can't rationalize waiting 40 minutes for a simple sunny side egg breakfast . I went in on a Sunday , and it was practically empty - which is not normal for Sunday brunches in miami . I didn't mind - in fact I enjoyed that it was empty, until I waited and waited and waited for a simple toast and then it was too much by that point .

Kedelim C.

Yelp
A HIDDEN GEM in the Gables... "Off the Mile". The wine, the food, the ambiance, and service are all incredible. Don't underestimate how quaint it is because the food will blow you away! My fiancé and I are already planning to host our rehearsal dinner there! Can't wait to come back.

majid m.

Yelp
Very slow service, after I ordered food they are telling me they are out of potatoes and choose something else. Extra charged me for OJ, and was told ya the menu price is wrong and we will have to change that. Overall poor customer service. Not a good food.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious coffee and Cuban bread. Nice decor and atmosphere (felt like an upper scale dinner place) and there was no wait at all. My husband and I didn't really enjoy our actual meals, however. His eggs were supposed to be over easy but they were too hard (not runny) and my omelet had such an excessive amount of cheese that I could hardly eat it. The omelet was also a tad overcooked so it was dry with brown spots instead of fluffy and smooth. The coffee and bread were amazing, so I would go again and order different meals.

Ninette A.

Yelp
We all know there is a lot of food competition in Coral Gables. With that said, not all places have a consistently great menu throughout. Off The Mile menu is amazing all around! Everything I have tried there is amazing. All super solid dishes. recently tried the octopus which is not a go-to selection for me but I was impressed. taste on point - super fresh which is so important. I also had the beef carpaccio - a lot of zest! again very fresh and totally solid dish. also tried the calamari...this is a hit or miss in many places because most restaurants just don't get it right. Off The Mile got it right. don't even need the marinara sauce because its amazing just on its own. its always love it when I visit a restaurant and have a hard time selecting what I want because every single thing is so good. Keep up the good work Off The Mile!

Monica A.

Yelp
Cute, romantic dinner restaurant that is too delicious! The chef makes delicious Italian food that's to die for. The coffee is great with the dessert. The restaurant is brand new but I can't wait to come back!

Terri D.

Yelp
I don't usually write a review on my first visit to a restaurant because some are a "hit-and-miss". However, we've had several very good dining experiences at Off the Mile and unreservedly recommend it. The atmosphere is relaxed, mellow background music, lighting is dimmed, good service, consistently tasty, varied and well prepared dishes, plus parking! in the middle of Urban Gables ... what more can one ask for? This is a place that we'll come back to over and over again.

Dora L.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Breakfast and lunch is cuban food. Dinner is Italian and seafood. Christian the chef is excellent and Leslie very helpful. We had for appetizers Calamaris, grilled octopus, gnocchi with pears. For dinner ahi tunas and peppercorn new york strip. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is small but cozy and very nice. CORAL GABLES HIDDEN GEM. Highly recommended!

CB G.

Yelp
A beautiful "Boutique" Cuban restaurant!!! Excellent food, Excellent Service, Great background music playing while you eat, authentic Cuban cuisine to top all others. Great wine selection. The best kept secret in Miami!!! We highly recommend it. To top it all, their specialty bakery is right next door, with fabulous pastries and coffee.........YUMMMMMM!!!!!
