The 15 Best Places for Pastelitos in Miami, Florida | Eater Miami

"Guava lovers swear by Vicky’s pastelito de guayaba and while all others are readily available for picking, this is the popular bakery’s best seller. Second place goes to its cheese pastry with a generous coating of sugar, and third to the twofer Dutch pastelito de carne made with beef plus sliced ham and Swiss cheese." - Stacy Moya

Came to Doral location and I paid 15 bucks for a kid size amount of breakfast. I was shafted and If these ladies don’t like their jobs, they should find a new one ! Terrible service ! Put my hand as a reference !

I’ve lived in Miami all my life, and I have to say that this is the worst of the worst bakeries I have ever been to. My husband ordered an egg and ham sandwich on cuban bread, no cheese. Wrong sandwich completely, not to mention the eggs were completely burnt. I ordered a steak sandwich, not a single onion on the sandwich and the steak was so thin and overcooked I could barely chew it. A couple of pastels and a platter of pastelitos. When we took the egg sandwich back, the cashier caught an attitude right away, she went to tell the cook the sandwiches were wrong, she then came out of the kitchen, and gave us the nastiest stare. She gave us another egg sandwich that was even worse than the first one. They are nasty employees, taking out the trash, coming back in handling the food, no washing of the hands, totally disgusting. We completely wasted 50+ dollars. If I could give a zero, I would.. Don’t waste your money at this location. All the bad reviews is saying something about this place.

It’s my fault for continuing to give this establishment the benefit of the doubt. This morning my husband and I came here for a quick breakfast and it was horrible. The attendants are nice but nice doesn’t cut it when you spend $25 on one tostada, 3 croquettas, 2 pastelitos and 2 coffee. I get it everything is going up in price I’m not complaining about the price, but if you’re going to charge that much it better be made with love and fresh. My tostada was for sure old bread. Chewy. Under toasted. Disappointing. All the croquetas were poorly cooked. Under cooked on the inside over cooked on the outside. The pastelitos were also poorly cooked. My cafe con leche must have been sitting there for a while because its was separated. It’s not a macchiato. All I can say is that I wish I wasn’t rushing to work so I could take it back and show them how disappointing it was and request a refund. Never going back again. I’ve given you guys too many chances.

Google
This was our first visit to a Vicky Bakery, and while we’d heard great things about the chain, our experience was unfortunately disappointing. To start, there were no prices listed on the menu board, which was surprising—most places display prices clearly for customers. We ordered the Media Noche, but the pork inside was cold, which really took away from the experience. The tostadas also fell short; they were served with butter that wasn’t fully melted. The highlight of our visit was the coffee, which was quite good and would be the only reason we might consider coming back. As for the service, it felt a bit unwelcoming, almost as if our presence was an inconvenience—oddly at odds with the “Good Vibes Only” sign displayed on the counter. To top it off, the music was too loud and didn’t enhance the atmosphere.

Google
Placed an order online to the nearest Vicky bakery near me and it sent me to the Doral location. Placed the order online for 1/2 dozen pastelitos and croquetas with a Colada for a sales visit for one of my clients and very disappointed when I arrived. Croquetas were cold and thrown in a bag with the pastelitos, not in a box. I could not walk into the appointment with that display of pastelitos thrown in it the bag and went elsewhere, waste of funds. Biggest disappointment was when I walked in not a single greeting or eye contact at all with the lady behind the counter. No cups for the colada either!

Google
I have been going to various Vicky bakery locations around miami for a long time…. I have never received a MEDIUM coffee the size of a CORTADITO. This place is absolutely a waste of money. The croquettas we got were cold…. We ordered baked ham and cheese empanadas and were given chicken. I’m absolutely disgusted by the quality of food from this place… will definitely never come back. I love tropic grill 🫶 it’s the only good Cuban bakery in Doral!

Google
11 dollars for this? That's embarrassing. Also, the croquettes, empanadas, and bread for the tostadas were definitely from the day before. Not fresh at all, and overpriced. I have given them a chance multiple times, but this time, they will not be seeing me there again.

Google
As a tourist, you can get the authentic Cuban pastries at Vicky’s and other authentic Cuban food. There are better places but if you’re just visiting and you never had anything Cuban; this location is perfect

Yelp
This Vicky Bakery is in Doral and is small but mighty. Came here before trying to check out a park in the area before opening but wanted to grab a quick bite so after a quick search on Yelp, found this Vicky's! A little hidden, you can find this in the corner of a plaza. We came in and were able to order right away. They seemed to have most things that the Vicky's by me has minus some of my fav sandwich items. We ended up getting a lil breakfast sandwich and some croquetas and an orange juice. A great spot to grab a quick bite!

Yelp
What an odd Vicky. But we came here due to the recognizable name. The ambiance was ...eerie. It's just one person behind the counter not happy to see you and there are no pastelitos or anything in there. The croqueta de bacalao was super salty and greasy. It's nice to stop by because it's a known "brand" but whoever is managing this doesn't care for the customers and it's just living up to the brand name. Would NOT recommend.

Yelp
This Cuban bakery is small and kind of hard to find, but worth looking for. Not only was the staff, Uber, friendly, but all the pastries were delicious. They even make a full breakfast if you like. I was hosting a business meeting and I decided to surprise everyone with some Cuban pastries. They absolutely loved them. And I had called ahead and they had everything ready for me. I wish I lived closer and I would definitely visit that place more often.

Yelp
I just luv their Cuban bread and my breakfast was fresh and very tasty... they also have other tasty treats!

Yelp
I don't usually give bad reviews, but I'm skeptically hopeful that the owners of this establishment would try and change their customer service and the freshness of their pastries. Unfortunately this is the only Cuban bakery in this area. I recently moved to Doral and there are some days you just want a grab some Cuban coffee and a pastry, but it's never that simple. You don't know if their pastries are going to be fresh and have to wait for no reason and then the kicker is that their prices are much higher than other Vicky bakeries. If you have any other choice pick another Cuban bakery this one is simply not reliable.

Yelp
Bad bad service, I ordered a cake and they did nothing that I asked for, horrible presentation....it's suppose to say Brian.. unfortunately I can't understand what they wrote...
google avatar

Leonardo A.

Yelp
This restaurant used to have menu prices. Now you cannot see the prices anywhere so they can charge whatever day they want. Este restaurante tenía precios en los menús ahora llano entonces te pueden cobrar lo que quieran no lo recomiendo Service was not very good, everybody had an attitude

Yelp
Four out of five times that I come here. The stuff I get is stale. I only come here because it's close to work, but I'm coming a lesson less frequently. They also don't follow their posted hours, often opening later or earlier, which is very frustrating. It won't be long until another bakery opens in the area and closes them down.

Yelp
If you want to find the best croquetas at Doral this is your place. Sweets are top tier and the ambiance is incredible, the staff makes you feel at home. Recommend it 100%. Si quieres comerte las mejores croquetas del Doral, este es el mejor lugar. La atención es espectacular, las muchachas del Bakery te hacen sentir como en casa.

Yelp
If you happen to drive by keep going. Don't satisfy an urge because you will be left the same way you came in hungry and dissatisfied go to any nearby pinecrest bakery.

Yelp
I grew up coming to Vicky bakery. It is insane how the flavor is still on point. I've gone to many stores all over Miami and Vicky bakery still remains close to my heart. You can get pastelitos, coffee, Cuban bread (now they have vegan Cuban bread). They have tons of desserts to choose from. If you want a little Cuban fix head this way!

Yelp
Have visited plenty of Vicky Bakerys across Miami so was very happy to see one closer to my house. This Vicky is a little more modern with very dainty decor. Feels like a cute little coffee shop. The people were very friendly and welcoming. The coffee was delicious and same can be said as always for the pastries. They have available the 25 piece trays to take and share which I think you can't go wrong with Vickys pastelitos tray as its a staple at any Miami party. These trays are responsible for breaking my New Years resolutions 5 years and counting. Also available are many desserts and cakes which Ive yet to try but look forward to in the future.. The location is a little hidden in the far corner so make sure to go all the way in the shopping plaza to see it.

Yelp
The service sucks, the food is good every now and then, you roll the dice here , im a regular and I will keep going because it's convenient but the service is horrible. Get the receipt also you might get charged double for items. They look and treat you bad, don't even greet back. And it's one specific lady that wears glasses and a yellow watch(they don't even have name tags), she definitely Doesn't want to be working.

Yelp
The cake tasted like it had been seating there for weeks. The filling was dry and had a bad aftertaste. First and last from this place.

Yelp
The cook went to use the restroom with his gloves on , minutes later he went to the kitchen and started removing the pastries with the same gloves - extremely disgusting. We brought it up to the cashier and she was extremely rude & didn't care about the situation, she responded and said HE HAS HIS GLOVES ON.

Yelp
The other reviews are accurate. They serve stale pastries including the pan de bono and mushy croquetas. Not impressed.

Yelp
I got a lot of appetizer platters for an event I was hosting at home and everything tasted great especially the stuffed potatoes were my favorite and the guava pastries !

Yelp
Stood in line for about 35 mins behind 2 other people that were in front me for likely much much longer. One young girl running the counter is super slow and kept going to the back. I ended up walking out because I simply couldn't wait any longer and had to get to work. Several others walked out behind me also because of the wait. Note to the owner: You're literally losing revenue because of the staffing. Reply to owner's comment: The online ordering system is the reason the young girl was so held up. She kept prioritizing the people walking in and cutting the line to pickup their orders while ignoring the in-person patrons. Also, why is there only one person handling all in-person AND online orders? Seems like a management issue with staffing. The Covid situation is no excuse, if anything you should have ample people looking for work. It doesn't take a candidate with an MBA from UM to make coffee and put pastelitos in a box. Pay the extra 8hrs a day to an extra staff member in order to facilitate higher volumes of orders, thus increasing revenue.

Yelp
Great customer service, affordable selection. I ordered my turkey for thanksgiving and the process was easy. The place was super clean. I will definitely return now that I know there's Vicky bakery by my house.

Marta F.

Yelp
What a GREAT find, was in the area for work and found this gem. The decor is welcoming and very clean. I ordered some pastelitos and coffee and everything was fresh and tasty. I also took some empanadas and mini desserts home and the family loved them. If you're in the area this bakery is a MUST!

Iris R.

Yelp
The worse dry Cuban sandwich I ever had. Pretty embarrassing. A few speckles of pork with ham and Swiss. Take pride in your business.

Princess P.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I come inside and stand where there's a sign saying "pick up". Once they were done they completely turned around and ignored me. I had to shout excuse me. As well as one of the ladies completely acknowledge me saying hi and ignored me. PLUS to top it off i ordered online and specifically told them to add certain sauces of course they didn't. With the cherry on top as well as they couldn't call me and tell me that they didn't have a item available. HORRIBLE EVERYTHING. Super disappointed

Yelp
Simply terrible. We ordered some of their pastries as we knew this place many years ago had some of the best. Apparently they've changed management a couple times over the years and the food has changed along with it. The pastries were bland and tasteless until to my family's horror noticed some of the pastries had mold growing on them. This is ridiculous and infuriating as this could have easily gotten my whole family seriously sick including my pregnant sister. What a shame, I sincerely think you should just find somewhere else to eat.

Gregory M.

Yelp
I ordered a cooked 12lb Turkey, so I could have leftovers for Turkey sandwiches this week. Vicky's Bakery did a very nice job for a reasonable price. The Turkey was delicious and nicely cooked. This is a great option if you are not able to cook a Thanksgiving meal at home.

Yelp
What can I say about Vicky Bakery that hasn't already been said...Great pastelitos and the croquetas were fried for me fresh, Yum! The proprietor of this Vicky Bakery was super attentive and I appreciate her very much!

Di M.

Yelp
Horrible. The service was slow. The colada was more like American coffee. The Cuban bread was hard and old. The pastelitos were soggy and sour. Unfortunately I am an old resident of Miami that was used to eating at their 9st SE. location, so I knew how they were back in 1972, and this was not it.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Finally, a Cuban bakery in Doral. As one of the few Cubans that live here, having a Vicky bakery in the neighborhood is a treat. This store is clean and the staff is very friendly. The Cuban bread and croquetas were perfectly done. Their pastries were ok. Overall, so glad to have them close by and can't wait to stop in a Update to the review. While it has been several months since my last review, sadly disappointed that the croqueta recipe appears to have changed and the pastelitos were at least several days old. I know that we've been in lockdown because of the pandemic but I'd rather they not sell anything than give bad quality food.

Iz B.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Lost the essense of the business that catered to the general public years ago. Staff decided to sell out pre-ordered items simply because other people showed up before and had $$ at hand. Not the place I recall going a few years ago.

Mario F.

Yelp
Worse bakery ever. Rude customer service, they gave me old pastelitos. Don't go there !!!

Xiomara A.

Yelp
I've given this location a few chances. Not great. Probably the worst Cuban toast ever. I rather just drive to la caretta on 107th and get my Cuban fix.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
I have given this place so many tries I've lost count. It's my fault I keep ordering. I've tried other Vicky locations and the quality and taste of food is not the same. Their ham croquetas always taste off almost like old wet rag. 50% of the time I order their tostada or Cuban bread they send me their mediocre vegan version. And I know it's the vegan version because to test them out I once ordered one of each and the difference is big. I really wish they'd try harder. It sucks because they're so close to my house. I guess I will continue ordering from other Cuban bakeries that are farther.

Gustavo C.

Yelp
We had a selection of empanadas, pan de bono, mini cupcakes, panes de gloria. Everything was dry, hard and old. I gave the second and last chance.... there are many other places a lot better and cheaper
