I went to victoria park with a few friends old and new on a warm Sunday afternoon. Although the park was busy (and some of it barricaded off for All points east) there remained ample space and opportunity to perch on some grass and take the air in your desired fashion.
This space is due to the size and scale of the park. I did the maths - 86.18 hectares (0.8618 km²) of open space. At the housing density of the surrounding borough of Tower Hamlets (most densely populated borough in England) of 15,695 residents per km² this would see a 'typical' residential housing development on Victoria park providing housing for 13,525.951 people.
This poses many questions. Who is going to live there? What happens to the other 0.049 of a person? Do they have to move out to Hackney? Or even Dagenham? Worry not dear reader, it will probably never happen and you're unlikely to be able to afford one even if it did!
Instead just keep going to the park, drink your iced coffee or beer, eat your pastry or crisps and get over yourself, life's too short.
